Thunder-Wolves lookahead: Anthony Edwards vs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be a BATTLE

Looking at the Minnesota series, again, I’m not going to have a prediction until tomorrow. I’m working on it uh first thing in the morning. I’m going to watch a ton of film. We’ll have a a full series preview at sometime, probably during the early afternoon tomorrow. But, it’s a very interesting series. two elite defenses with elite rim protection and both teams have a legit two big look. Two elite onball guards against two teams that have a ton of good on ball defense options which should make for a very interesting series in the sense that both Shay and Jdub and Ant and Julius everyone should be uncomfortable in this particular matchup. But there are three major differences between the two teams. The Wolves are bigger while the Thunder are faster. I think that’s like a kind of they’re both very athletic but in different ways. The Wolves I think are substantially more experienced. And Ant secondary shot creator is a veteran forward in Julius Randall while Sha’s backup shot creator is a younger guard in JDub. And Julius has been a substantially more reliable offensive player. My initial gut feeling and this might completely change tomorrow after I watch a bunch of tapes. So, I’m not uh saying this is my pick, but my initial like just gut reaction looking at the series is I trust Minnesota’s offense to be able to score more over the top in these ugly ass games. These games are all going to be really lowcoring. And I expect it to be the kind of series where it turns into can amp make tough shots, can Julius make tough shots, can uh Nas Reed make tough shots, can Chad Homegrren, Jaydub, Shay Shay Gildas Alexander. And I just trust Julius Randall and Cadet Home, excuse me, Chet Julius Randle and Nas Reed just a little bit more than I trust Chad Homegrren and JDub right now. And so my initial gut reaction is to lean slightly towards Minnesota, but again, that might change after I watch the film uh more intently tomorrow and start putting together that series preview. But again, we’ll have I think both series are more or less coin flips. Again, I I picked Indie and I’m leaning Minnesota, but I think we’ve got an excellent conference final awaiting us between four pretty evenly matched teams, at least respectively, in their matchups. And and I I’m hopeful that for the first time since 2022, we get a good conference final because we’ve had a couple of brutal ones in a row.

I’m going for the Wolves but don’t sleep on OKC and their defensive prowess. They are tenacious as hell and will make Ant very uncomfortable.

Surface level analysis here. Wolves have been turning the ball over at a very high rate in the playoffs and are going up against one of the best teams ever at generating turnovers + OKC doesn't have to deal with an elite offensive big like Jokic, so Ant is going to have a rough time getting past OKC's perimeter defenders. OKC in 5 or 6

Seven games. It would surprise me if either team shows a tremendous advantage. There is something about the regular season that can’t account for a nuanced cheat code that dictates terms when the games are important enough to play but not important enough to live or die by. That Jason nodded in MN’s direction is fascinating. I’d be careful with the Woofs. They’re confident enough to get lazy.

Crazy that for 3/4 of the games Julius, Rudy, and Donte were out and the Wolves were 2-1 in those games. Chet also missed a game and so did Caruso but still that’s pretty crazy. Will be a great series
As a wolves fan…. the thunder should be favored. If Minny pulls this off, its one of the greatest runs in the past few decades. Even with steph hurt in that series.

Prediction: Thunder wins in 5 games. SGA is going to thrive and Edwards will have a good game or two but just crumble under the pressure in clutch time, in general.

OKC Have found their supper power the 3 man unit of Wallace, Wiggins & Caruso, they have excellent chemistry & match really well with, SGA, J Dub, J Wil, Chet & I Hart any combo of, I haven't seen an impactful bench combo like this since the Bad Boy Pistons.
Anthony Edwards sliced up the Lakers into mince meat and sliced through the Lakers defense like it was soft butter. However, the Lakers are very weak athletically. OKC are very good athletes, so this will be fun to watch: Timberwolves team of superior athletes versus OKC team of superior athletes. This is the playoffs where the superior athletes turn on their second gear and the teams that are weak athletes like the Lakers get exposed.

I honestly don't think this series is going to be a match for the thunder I'm picking the thunder in five.
It will be a great series. At first glance it seems like OKC should win but they had stretches against DEN where they were very underwhelming; they didn't always appear like a 68 win team.
Minnesota just need to take care of the ball. They do that and they will win. No one is talking Rudy Gobert. Still an elite rim protector. This is going to cause OKC major problems.
