Celtics Trading MULTIPLE Starters Per NBA Insiders? Boston Celtics Rumors
The Boston Celtics season did not end how any of us expected or wanted it to. And there’s a possibility that they could blow this thing up and trade multiple starters. Yes, multiple NBA insiders reporting that that could happen. We’re going to tell you who and why in just a moment. But first, make sure you are subscribed to the channel. We are bringing you the best offseason content as the offseason is officially here at Celtics today and we are 158 diehard Celtics fans away from our next milestone of 52,000 subscribers. So, if you love the season’s and you want to be in the know about everything going on this summer, hit that sub button right now. What’s going on green teamers? Welcome into Celtics today by chat sports. I am your host Tyler Smith and welcome to the offseason as well. was this quote came in from Sham Shirania right after the Jason Tatum injury and before they even lost the series to the New York Knicks. He said, “Win or lose, they’ve definitely been destined for potential changes in the offseason.” And yeah, you know, falling short in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, albeit with a banged up roster, it could be cause for some concern and some change in the offseason, but that’s not really why the Celtics have to deal some really impact players away this summer. It’s just because of the finances and we knew this was coming and Bobby Marks put this graphic out a little while ago about what’s expected for Boston in the 2526 season. And you see a projected salary there of $230 million. Yeah, that’s once again way over the second apron. So you see on the right there in the red text penalty $270 million. So they’re paying more in taxes than they’re actually going to be paying for the entire roster. I don’t think that’s a good business decision. And for anybody who wants to run a business, they’re just not going to elect to go that route. So, what they’re going to have to do is trade a couple of players away uh to get that salary number way down. And I’d say probably below the second apron, no doubt about it. Look, look, man, I hate the CBA. The new CBA is absolutely atrocious. And what what it does is it really limits the window that a lot of these teams can have if they’re paying big salaries. specifically to the Celtics case. Like you see Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum, these are homegrown talents that we are lucky enough to be giving away these supermax extensions to and now you have to break this team up because they they did a great job at team building. Like they didn’t go out there and buy this roster. They went out there and and traded for Chris Espening, traded for Drew Holidayiday. A couple of lowhanging fruits out there in the NBA and now it’s looking like some of those guys might have to be on their way out. like 100% in my opinion big moves will be made this a this summer if you’re the Boston Celtics. Like there is kind of really no wiggle room. One of these guys has to go away. You you got too many $30 million plus contracts on this roster right now for it to be suitable to survive within this new CBA and pay all these luxury tax. Chris Manx of Sports Illustrated said this about the Celtics impending moves. He said, “I think there’s a pretty decent chance that this team gets dismantled in a major way. I think two or more rotation players in the top seven could be gone next year and they could use next year as a gap year. Well, to be honest, like I can’t lie to you, a gap year, if you’re talking about the Boston Celtics, like I wouldn’t be the most upset about that potential situation. Like, no matter what, Jason Tatum is probably not going to be playing in the 2526 regular season, nor the 25 the 2026 NBA playoffs. So without him in your lineup, the ceiling’s very very capped. And I I I’d be hardressed to believe that this team can win a championship without Jason Tatum. So might as well punt the year away. Go recoup some new assets and go best prepare yourself for 2026 27 when Tatum does return. And the Celtics, they got some big contracts on the roster right now, man. On the books for 2526. This is what it looks like right now. Tatum’s making 54 million. First year of his Supermax kicking in. Second year of the Jaylen Brown supermax kicking in 53 million for him. Drew Holidayiday makes 32.5 million. Chris Esportzing makes over 30 million and Derek White one of the best value contracts in the league just under $30 million at this point and had to include Sam Hower at $10 million with his extension kicking in this summer as well with yes only a $10 million salary but it could overall impact this team to an $80 million cost when it comes to all the taxes and stuff. As for all these guys who when you think about it, who’s most likely to be traded? Who’s most likely to be coveted by other NBA franchises? Probably one of these two guys, Drew Holiday or Chris Assoringis. Mark Stein said this about a possible trade for Boston. He said the early projections in circulation suggest Boston is more apt to make a Drew Holiday available via trade this offseason than Derek White. Most rival teams continue to regard Chris as Porzingis as the most movable Boston vet thanks to the LV and big man’s $ 30.7 million expiring contract. And yes, that makes more sense for teams to trade for because it’s expiring. They’ll have to give up less and that salary comes off the books after 2526. But Drew Holiday is the name that we have to be looking at here for the most part as to what’s the most likely name that gets traded by Boston. He’s going to be very valuable to a title contender. This is somebody who has won two championships now and he was the plug-and-play piece that really in my opinion took Boston over the top in 2020 23 24 to go out there and win the championship. Shot like 60% from the corner from three-point range and that was a huge huge X factor to Boston being able to have the super spread out floor. And trading him also gets you under that second tax apron, the $32.4 million salary. You know, you’re you’re about 30 or you know $25 million over the second apron at this point. Just trading him away gives you huge, huge salary relief if you’re Boston might be the move that they have to make, unfortunately, because I like Drew a lot. Should the Celtics trade Drew Holiday? That is the question that I’ll be asking for you guys first here on today’s show. Type T for trade, type K for keep. We’ll talk a little bit more about Drew and then go into some other potential Celtics moves in just a moment, but I want to hear from you guys first. Trade or keep? Drew Holiday. Look, man, he kind of fell off in 2024 25. That’s just fully exemplified by the efficiencies, man. He was a 43% three-point shooter in 23-24. And like I previously mentioned, it was close to 60% from the corner where he would spend a lot of his time and get up a lot of his shots. You translate that all the way now to this season where he shoots 35% from three. And that’s just a honestly a an angle of the Celtics offense that is just kind of wiped away and defenses don’t have to respect Drew Holiday as much from outside. And we know that he’s a great defender still to this point. and I I don’t see teams being deterred away by him shooting low from three-point range. So, he’s going to be a very valuable trade candidate and probably the the asset that Boston will recoup the most assets from if they were to deal him here. Jay King from The Athletic, he kind of agrees with me. He said, quote, “His reputation as a known winner and top defender should interest several contending teams if the Celtics do look to move him.” And he said that was according to multiple league sources here that that Duality is the prime move for Boston. But we also have to look at like what is Drew Holidayiday thinking about this situation right now himself. He had this to say about the you know the summer ahead. He said welcome to the life of a professional athlete. Sometimes you got to just do it and other people do it in different ways. Again I think the things I can control I do my best to control and but other than that I try my best not to really worry about it. And Drew did say he wants to return to Boston. He called them the best team in the league and said it was very disappointing that the season ended in the way that it did. And he looks to have a future in Boston. He wants to stay here long term and I would assume with at his age right now at 34 he would like to retire with the seas but when Tatum comes back in 26 27 Drew Holiday will be 36 years old at that point. What version of him will we be getting around then? That is something that I’m not so sure the Celtics are willing to find out. Next we’re going to go find out if more Celtics are going to be on the move other than just Drew Holiday because I think that’s all but guaranteed at this point. But first I got to give a huge shout out to our sponsor and that is Prize Picks. Prize Pix is America’s number one daily fantasy sports platform because it’s daily fantasy made easy. Here’s how it works. All you guys got to do is pick a lineup of two to six players and just pick more or less on their projected stats. Whether it’s basketball, baseball, hockey, playoffs are in full swing. But they also got other things going on like bowling, darts, esports, golf, they have everything on prize picks. Combine them all in a lineup if you want to and just pick more or less and you can win up to 2,000 times your money. As for the Eastern Conference Finals that are starting up this Wednesday, here is my lineup for game one. I got Jaylen Brunson more than 28 and a half points. I don’t think anybody in Indiana can check him. Miles Turner more than 15 and a half points. He has been cooking. And the Knicks defensive front court isn’t all that great. Josh Hart less than 12 points. I expect him to give me everything else on the floor but scoring the basketball in game one. You can tell my picks or fade them. Just do it at Prize Picks. Prize picks run your game. All that information will be clickable down in the comment section and description of today’s video. Look, I already mentioned that Drew Holidayiday is likely to be on the move this off seasonason, but to be quite frank with you guys, one, two, three are the only three guys I believe are guaranteed to be on the roster in 2526. Jason Tatum, obviously we won’t see him much. Payton Pritchard, elite value contract, $7.5 million. And Derek White, again, one of the better value contracts in the league at under 30 million. and his timeline lines a little bit better with Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but we might talk about Jaylen Brown in just a moment. What about Chris Espingis, though? As he’s making over $30 million this next season, it’s expiring and he has really not been as consistent of an impact player as Celtics fans have wanted him to be. He’s been getting dragged through the mud on social media with his ineffectiveness in the postseason. He’s missed 65 games since joining the Celtics in 2023. and in the playoffs like it unfortunately left a stain on his Celtics career and is probably going to leave a bad taste in many Celtics fans mouths. He only played 21 minutes per game. But he also was very much hindered by a mystery illness that he has been uh dealing with all the way back dating to March and it really crashed him in the playoffs. He called it a crash. Joe Mazula said he couldn’t breathe but uh when he was out there on the floor he was a total liability man. Three of 26 from the three. He was 25 of 79. I think that’s 31% overall from the field. He he couldn’t score, couldn’t rebound, couldn’t defend in space. Um his rip protection was eh as well. So Porzingis was completely underwhelming and it looks like he is going to be moved this summer as well. Jay King said this. It is a little bit of reassurance though. He says even if the Celtics trade at least one starter, don’t expect them to do so in a pure salary dump though other teams will have the same questions about Porzingis’s durability. He said this later in the quote, “His expiring contract should have value across the league.” And I I I agree. I believe in Brad Stevens. Like at the end of the day, Brad Stevens runs our basketball team. We should always be thankful for that and always have faith in the moves that Brad’s going to make. And I believe in his ability to recoup value back for Chris’s Porzingis. I mean, as far as the playerto player value goes, everybody called it a steal when he went out there and got Porzingis. Everybody called it a steal when he went out there and got Derrick White. Brad Stevens knows how to recuperate value and I I think for a guy who’s got a lot of questionable value around the league, Brad’s going to be working the phones and he’s going to go out there and try to make something happen and get good value back. Even though Porzingis uh I don’t know how effective he can be for a full regular season and postseason push. Pick one to trade for me though. Is it Chris Espingis? Is it Drew Holiday? Who would you rather see uh off of the Celtics, I guess I should say, next season? Type KP or type Drew? I want to hear from Celtics fans everywhere. Alrighty, moving on to more Celtics trade rumors here to close out today’s show. According to Mark J. Spears of ESPN, he said that the two Celtics trade partners that he sees floating around most u most often in these rumors are the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. Now, those could be destinations for a guy like Drew Holiday, especially the Houston Rockets, you know, with their defensive prowess and them needing another veteran voice in that locker room. even San Antonio who needs more defensive versatility as well and more veteran voices with them potentially adding a really young blue chip player alongside Victor Wmanyama. So potentially and and even even Porzingis who knows he he could be an option there. But the player that I think would be in a deal centered around one of those two teams is Jaylen Brown. And I know it sounds insane. to think about his game five where he absolutely dropped his nuts all over the New York Knicks in a must-win game in in in support of Jason Tatum. Um 12 assists, you know, 35 points, like he absolutely balled out. But time and time again, Jaylen Brown shows us who he is. And that’s a player who has not yet evolved and taken the steps necessary to go out there and be a number one. And can you carry two supermax contracts on this roster long term while still having good supplemental and supporting cast? I’m not so sure. Chris Forsberg said this. He said Brown should be back as the focal point in the leading role, but the Celtics do have a lot to at least consider all options to trim costs. And his 53.1 million salary in year two of a 5year $286 million contract is a gaudy number. But let’s pump the brakes a little bit. Jaylen Brown’s quotes after the loss to the Knicks in game six all suggested that he would be back in Celtic green for 2526 and beyond. And I do believe if you had to ask me right now, will Jaylen Brown be a Celtic in 2526? Yes, I would 100% say yes. But if the right deal comes along, like Brad is going to jump at the opportunity. They were they were willing to deal Jaylen Brown away for Kevin Durant a couple of years ago. The Nets said no. And the Celtics were even including Derek White back then as well. So, this is no secret that the Celtics have been willing to trade Jaylen Brown for the right price. Is the right price going to be there? This little hint maybe suggests to me that that could be the case. The Celtics did interview Cooper Flag at the NBA draft combine. That is something of note, no doubt about it. Like they don’t have any assets draftwise to be able to go up there and move. They don’t have any inclination that Dallas is willing to move the pick, but they got a player in Jaylen Brown and their own draft picks in their arsenal to be able to go out there and make a deal get done. Kevin Oconor said this. He said, “Boston calls Dallas GM Nico Harrison and they offer Jaylen Brown. How many first round picks is it going to take?” I just wonder if Dallas and their entire decision-making unit would listen. Look, that’s the only or if not only one of the only deals that I would make for Jaylen Brown. You go out there and get Cooper Flag, somebody who could who I know wants to be a Celtic and can take this next era of Celtics basketball um play alongside Jason Tatum and that would be one of the best wing duos in the NBA. There’s there’s there’s no doubt about it. The Cooper Flag is an incredibly smart basketball player. He’s got so much potential and already so much polish. That’s a player that I would be willing to deal Jaylen Brown for. They’d have to give up a little more, but it’s definitely worth calling Dallas up for. Before we get out of here, you tell me how many Celtics get traded this off season. Is it going to be one starter just to get them below the second apron? It’s going to be two starters. Is it going to be three starters potentially or even more impact players on this roster? Should the Celtics trade Jrue Holiday? Type ‘T’ for Trade, ‘K’ for Keep
jrue holiday and kristap porzingis
Why did we ever trade bol bol
Trade brown for cooper flag and w.e it takes. Shed that 53 million turnover machine for a new face while tatum recovers.. trade jrue as well. Keep tatum ,white, pritchard, porzingas, and retire horford.
Offer KP and Holiday to Denver for Christian Braun.
Anyone who thinks JB is getting traded is high or not a true Celtics fans. Both Jay’s are extremely valuable to this team and should not be moved. We’ve had JB trade talks for the last 3 years and he’s proven his worth with a championship and finals mvp.
Boston need to trade joe muzzula he his the bum coach that held back the team only want the guys to shoot 3z
If the Celtics ever trade JB they’ll regret it. I’d hate to be the team that plays against him when he’s locked in especially in the playoffs against the Celtics.
Fire mazulla
Fire the coach..
No play just shoot 3s
Kp
Get robert wil.. again trade kp jrue and the coach
Trade pritchard i think so small
Why would you keep a max guy this happens to? They took his ball and said go home.
https://youtu.be/_3ZbonPGzJU?si=12Rg8RqH6TUPHWHJ
My friends said that we should Jayson Tatum Jrue holiday to the lakers for LeBron and his son
KP
Derek White has the most trade value, he'll be 31 to start next season, great contract, his play hasn't fallen off, durable (except his teeth). No one has more trade value on the current roster.
JB cant carry a team. KP and Jrue always hurt.
JT, DWhite and Pritchard are the only ones that needs to stay
Cant have 2 50M players on the same team
😂😂 Jaylen Brown is NOT from California. 😂😂 Do your homework man.
Mazzula is good because he addressed confidence to every player but he should understand that 3 points shots are consequences of a good dynamic offense system based on interior attack close to the the rim, including layouts. This season Celtics were a static offense team that allowed opponents to predict our shots. Too predictable team. We need to learn from Warriors, a team with a very bad roster but always dangerous when talking about playoff
Joe's gotta go. Brown has to go and rebuild around Tatum and White with the young guys getting time.
Knicks in 6
I’d keep Jrue because of his defensive ability and trade porzingis for a cheap player or 2 slideuke kornet as a starter have Al as a mentor and queta a back up
Its NOT insane he's inconsistent and this would definitely help the salary cap
2 porgi & brown
Not a Celtics fan, but I'll give my thoughts. I think that the Celtics' failure this season was because of Joe Muzzula's terrible coaching. Fire him and get a new coach. Keep Tatum and Brown. I would only trade Jrue Holiday because he's by far the oldest. Trade him and 2027 1st round pick to the Mavs for Klay, PJ, and Dwight Powell (necessary to make the trade go through according to Fanspo). PJ will be Horford's replacement and Klay will be a trade asset. Nico will take him because "Defense wins Championships", and the core of his team is old, so it won't matter too much. Resign Kornet, but let Horford retire. Let Pritchard become the starting PG and see how he does next season. If he's good, then you can keep it as it is. If he's bad as a starter, then use Klay, few more players, and your draft picks to get a starting PG. Develop Scheierman and get everyone used to the new coach and system. Next year resign PJ, resign Porzingis to a cheaper contract, get your starting PG, get Tatum back, and go for another Championship.
ATTENTION TYLER…Brad needs to really focus on dealing with Portland, they have 3 players that are not only hungry, but they're just as clutch as J.Brunson in….
*ShadenSharp
*D.Avdija
*DeAndreAyton
Who knows what they get if they trade Brown. Why was Queta on short minutes? Should have been part of rotation. I like that kid Giddey. He can rebound. Big point guard that shoots.
Brad Stevens need pursue Cam Johnson or Isiah Stewart and add role players
Trade JB, Jrue and brick Hauser to Rockets for Jabari smith, amen thompson, tari eason and fred vanvleet.
Smith Smith 😂😂😂😂😂 you are the one
Porzingus for Wendell Carter or J Jackson Jr
Hu
