NBA Draft, NBA Playoffs, Raptors moving forward
Hey, still Oh, I have to go to the premium account. What the heck is this? What? Oh, if I want to do uh Twitter. Oh, what are we on now? I thought we I was in a studio earlier. What studio was that? Uh I think this one is because I pressed live. So, we’re live right now. Okay. Anyways, welcome everybody to the Boardman Gets Paid podcast. I am your host, Andre Lindo, and we got regular shells up in the building. Um, no, no, no. Put that down. What is this? Stop this. I’m hiding it, man. I’m trying to hide it. Let me get out of frame. Oh my god. Oh my. I don’t know how you guys how you elite fans are. No, not you guys. No, no, no. I’m You have a jersey on. Listen to me. Explain myself. Let me explain myself. Okay. when they keep winning. I I caught the last train out the station. Okay. I got the last um bus ticket to the bandwagon. So, let’s not go this. I learned I learned my lesson seven game seven ago. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That Boston one was the one where I was like the last last time I was really a fan. Which which Boston one are you talking about? Well, the most famous one. The collapse, man. The collapse. You know, game seven collapse. Fourth period. fourth or third period up 4-1, man. Losing. Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know, bro. Yeah. But today we are going to talk Raptors. We’re going to talk basketball. Some fun things are going on today’s game. Yes. Amazing. I I know. I know. It seemed It seemed like a blowout. We’re talking about the OKC versus the um game seven versus the Denver Nuggets. Really good game. Really good game. I enjoyed it. Um even though it was just a blow at the end. Yeah, I got carried away. Yeah, but man, I was honestly I was expecting that either way because both of those teams were so good like um someone was going to pull away at at some point, you know, like you can’t go to a game seven and like no team is just, you know, either healthy or fully energized. Like those teams gave everything, man. I think I don’t think that I don’t think Denver Denver ran out. Denver ran out. Well, you know, the thing is with Denver, they they they were hanging on to their past um glory in terms of championship. Yeah. You know, thing. And I think that’s a real thing in basketball. Like once you get to that mountain top, you know what it takes and you can easily pull it out. Pause. Like when when it’s when it’s needed, right? Like for instance, Jamal Murray just showed up out of nowhere. Like where has he been all year? Yeah. And then game was it four, five, and six or four and five? Yeah. Yeah, he turned into a prime MJ. Like he couldn’t be stopped. But, you know, I think I think Denver, like you said, is not a good team, but they were good enough to actually compete. Uh, I think the reason why were they were good enough to complete compete was the the MVP of the league. I’m sorry, bro. Jokic is so good. But again, he’s not is the reason what makes him good is is the team around him. I’m not trying to say that he can’t be good individually, but the system that they run is so inside out that it makes him like it takes him to another level, but I I don’t understand that because shooters around him, man. They didn’t have no shooters. You got Russell Westbrook out there, bro. Yeah, but I’m just saying his shooting, his his feel for the game, everything. He literally is the best player in this league cuz I I can’t I can’t imagine any other player being in his position leading them to a second round against the best team. Remember, he’s he’s in a he’s a sevenfooter in a league of, you know, minimal sevenfooters who play center. Yeah. And he’s doing things that like he he can play both sides. He can play the big man game and he can play the guard game. Like it’s ridiculous, you know? So, shout out to Joic, man. I think he Yeah, he’s so smart. Like there’s again this play that he he did he did this today as well is and there they sometimes they forget as soon as he grabs a rebound he takes one and flings it down the court. Okay. Yeah. And Braun Christian Braun really good player. Yeah. Yeah. Just picks it up, lays it in and it’s like then OKC is like that’s never happening again. It never happened again. Like oh man. And Alex Caruso is the MVP for for OKC man. Holy. See, I I said I saw my tweet. I told somebody months ago, a few people that Alex, that pickup for Alex Caruso is such a huge pickup for them because you need guys like that in the playoffs, right? When it comes down to it, you need someone who’s going to like shock the other team. There’s no scouting report for that. You couldn’t you couldn’t have scouted that Alex Cruso is going to limit Joic. He didn’t stop him. He limited him a little. I I’d like to I’d like to say I I don’t know if he I don’t think he only limited him. He stopped him, man. He One thing I noticed about him is that um I’m sorry, what’s I forgot OKC’s uh coach name. Uh um uh Do, right? So before in the game, it used to be Jaylen William uh Jaylen Williams, the the J A Williams guarding Yokic. Yeah. Ice cream one. And then they switched over to Caruso. And I thought that was one of the smartest things. And you know who did something similar to that to to try to lock them down? Do you remember Golden State versus Golden State versus Dallas? The the the um what year was this? The year that Dallas lost to to the A seed. Oh um with Stephen Jackson um Baron Davis. Oh yes yes yes Barnes and those guys. Yeah. Yeah. They had like Harington guarding um um thing. I know what you’re talking about. Yeah. They had all like small forwards guarding Durk and those guys and shut him down. Stephen Jackson, they throw Stephen Jackson at him and they threw um Yeah. Muel Petus. Yeah. And it was he couldn’t do anything the team. Yeah. Well, you see that’s the thing like okay you throw you throw in a player who is it’s like Draymond Green, right? what he’s done his whole career. Basically, you throw an undersized player in there, but a defense is more than just, and we talk about all the time, it’s more than just, you know, um, one, it’s onedimensional. You got to have the effort and you had got to have the positioning. Exactly. His positioning has been perfect. Uh, um, Caruso this last game, I’m watching him like, you watch him. So he comes in, he fronts fronts him and then as soon as he gets fights through, he pushes him to outside the he never got in the block most of the game. And the thing with Joic, like his strength is once he gets on the block, he’s able to see over the defense and able to pick them apart. He couldn’t do that because he couldn’t get his positioning. Couldn’t get a position. He couldn’t get anywhere. And then the pick, the Jamal Murray pick and roll with him barely worked. And then Michael Porter Jr. that needs that guy needs to retire. That that guy Well, you see you see this is why this is why Charles Barkley used to say back in the day before Steph Curry became a thing. Uh you can’t win a championship by just shooting three-pointers. You can’t win games by just shooting threes. And this is a perfect example because guys like him once you take away the three-point shot or the shot period, he’s useless. He’s 610 611 can’t do anything else. He’s the smallest 610 I’ve ever seen in my life. Yeah. without that jump shot. It’s like, why are you even on the floor, bro? Why are you here? I I you know, and then you get Russell Westbrook coming in. Oh, man. I I feel so bad for Cuz I love what I Yeah. Yeah. He He plays hard, but it’s hard to bet on. Can’t be turning all over the ball. Like, it’s hard to bet on that guy. Come on, man. I I don’t know. Now I understand why. Now I understand why KD left a lot of times. When I think about it, I really understand why Katie left the war the Thunder because you had Harden and Westbrook and it seemed like the perfect marriage. But in in essence, like, bro, these guys do not show up, man. Bro, it was the last six minutes of the game against Golden State. They do not show up. Westbrook, I don’t know what he was doing, bro. Like, if we had Westbrook that closed out the Clippers series, the OCQ OC OKC would have been out of here, right? Like if that Westbrook showed up, we would have a different story right now. But again, you can’t bet on Russell Westbrook, man. He’s just like a Jacqueline Hyde. You don’t know what you you don’t know what you’re going to get with him. Do you think Okay, see I’m not going to say I’m not saying they’re per but like aren’t they the perfect team. You know what, and I told I think I told you this earlier. I said they’re the most complete team ever since they got um Hartinstein because you get you get a big now to add with all these guards and these defensive role players like Isaiah Joe, these shooters, right? Like you have the perfect nucleus. You you got your star player, your closer, right? You got your secondary star, Jaylen Williams. You got your your third star in chat, right? Who can who can explode for 30 40 more of a role player to me, but like he is, but he’s a third star. He’s a third star. He’s still young, right? and he’s still growing. Um you got your defensive players in um um Blue Dort and Cruso, right? You got your bench players who your electrifying bench players. What’s his name? Um and the other kid is nice. Yo, no Isaiah Joe. It wasn’t Isaiah Joe. It’s the other guy. Um Carson Wallace. Carson Wallace. Oh, Wallace. Oh my. That guy. You see what I’m saying? And this is where this is where I’m like for the Raptors. I’m looking at the OKC team that has a bunch of two two guard three guards three guards on their team like tons of them and I’m like that’s where now when we talk about the draft I’m like I’m not I’m not sure I’m I’m like I’m okay with getting more guards because as long as they’re playing I want bigger guards and Oh man I I hate OKC bro I just they’re so like rich with with what they have man it’s it’s it’s awesome. You know what? You know what? It’s it’s I’m happy for them because um ever since their inception and they started out, you know, great getting KD and then Russ and then um Serge and those guys and Harden and you know from them going from that to Paul George and Shay and then uh Carmelo like you know there was some weird years there but for them to bounce back through the draft like you got to be you got to really commend him and and that pick up with Shay like that flip for Paul George right now looks like probably the greatest trade in history. Yeah. Like Paul George is not has never won an MVP. Paul George has never been to the NBA finals. Paul George has probably played less games than some other stars in the league. And you flip him for another uh MVP potentially and also 100 draft picks which is turning out to, you know, to build out your roster, a championship roster. This is crazy for one play. Yeah, for every time I see that graphic of what Paul George or what the OKC got for Paul George is ridiculous in hindsight right now. It’s ridiculous. Samy, man. Sam Prey. Yeah, that guy can that guy knows he’s up he’s up there. He’s Messiah level for me. Like and that’s why I think I think Milwaukee will trade Giannis because at the at the end of the day start over, right? Yeah. Yeah. You have you have to sell high and that’s where I was I’m mad at Messiah for not doing that with Pascal and and and Fred, you know, Rosen and it’s it’s only so many times you can strike gold, you know, and I think I think the Raptors well, not to go back to them, but like at that time, you know, they were still fantasizing over 2019 and all those things, which is understandable, right? It it was such a high, you didn’t want to break up that nucleus, but I mean, it was time. It was it was past time. Yeah. But I think with um with Milwaukee and not to jump too soon, Yeah. but they got to start thinking about is Yiannis, you already got a championship out of it. Yeah. Right. So you can start dancing. You got a championship and you got a new stadium. You made a ton of money. Absolutely. So now you can start looking at, hey, what’s our future looking like? If our star player is quote unquote disgruntled, you know, we brought in another staring game. It didn’t work out, injuries and whatnot, but like you guys have a window. You know what I’m saying? You’re one of the oldest teams in the league. It’s time to shut it down. You know, how how much more can Brook Lopez and and and these guys do? Like, come on, man. Like, what what more can they do? So, I think it’s it’s time to if I’m the Bucks yet. I think this is the this is the best year. Like, right now, Brooklyn has literally four picks in this this this upcoming draft. you can literally reset your whole team right there u with you know so um but let’s let’s talk more about now the upcoming uh western conference finals Eastern Conference finals so we got OKC Minnesota who who do you like oh we lost him um so yeah we’re talking about the um basketball um playoffs just lost uh regular shells regular you back. Shoveing you back. Oh, anyways. Um, so I want to share the screen. I want to see what you guys are, you know, what we’re talking about. Um, you back, my man. Testing one, two. So then you’re back. So let’s look at the playoff picture. So far we got New York and Indiana. Who who would have thought that that New York and Indiana would be in the um Eastern Conference Finals? I thought New York had a chance. I felt like New York was the team that the best team to kind of beat out um the Boston Celtics. Um one of my thought processes always is that wings win win um basketball game win uh championships. You have to have really dynamic wings. And what uh New York did was, you know, build out all these different wings. Uh Sheldon, you’re back. Can you hear me? Yeah, I’m back. Sorry, man. Technical difficulties. Good. No problem. No problem. Um, so like I was saying that, um, we’re starting off in the Eastern Conference. Yes. Um, looking at Indiana and New York. Um, I thought the only team that could probably take down, uh, Boston was New York because they were built to beat Boston. I I honestly said it. I said it to a bunch of people. People were like, “No.” But when you have large defensive wings, Yeah. coming at you all the time, that’s the only only team that’s the only type of uh team can that can beat Boston. Well, what I’ll say to that is is Boston kind of screwed themselves when they, you know, decided they wanted to be exclusively a three-point shooting team. Um, and the way they did it is not not the right way of doing it like, you know, all Golden State and other teams where you have three-point shooters, yes, but you play inside out. Boston never plays never played inside out. They play five out, literally five. And now because you have, like you said, you got New York who has five out guards who are all defensive players. Exactly. Right. So now what are you going to do when you can switch all five positions? Yeah. And then here going crazy and you got U Bridges, you know, like come on, how are you going to shoot the three over these guys? Yeah, those guys big big wings, man. And then you have Jason Tatum. Again, people have issues with him. He’s a great player. Like I I don’t mind like I don’t mind this game. He’s such a I call him I call him the the pylon player. And what I mean by pylon is not lack of defense is he’s a drill player. You ever see those guys who do drills around the the cones and the pylons? Yeah. That’s what he looks like when he’s playing the game. He doesn’t look like he’s he’s like he’s in the moment like he’s he looks like he’s doing drills out there at the time. And there’s no aura. That’s what it is. That’s what you’re trying to say. When the the shots don’t fall, it’s it’s like he has no backup. Yeah. All the drill work for nothing. I I don’t know, man. I I never seen a player like this that talented that just The thing is, though, he’s good. Like, we can’t be He’s amazing. Yeah. I don’t know. I feel so bad for him because he has It’s like he doesn’t have a personality in a sense like it’s the aura, man. I’m telling you. Like because how how is how is your team the best team in the league? In the league champs and you are not even considered MVP candidate. Yeah. And not even that. How do you your team you’re the best player on the team? Your team wins a championship and you’re not even considered the MVP of of man. Well, they had to if he if he let it they wouldn’t have won, man. I like Jaylen Brown. I believe you. I believe. Yeah. I don’t know if they would have won, man. But uh and uh news came out today. Yeah, I don’t know if you saw it, but uh Jaylen Brown apparently was playing with a partially torn uh was it miniscus or something like that. So, bro, that’s $600,000. $600 million and two freaking players, bro. I don’t I do not I have no sympathy for Boston at all. See, again, it goes back to the thing about signing players. Yeah. like you do not invest that much money into I can’t even say they’re unproven because they want a championship but like I don’t know I they’re not generational to me like you know what I’m saying they’re not Steph Curry they’re not LeBron they’re not Anthony Edwards you know they’re not like yeah these guys are great players but they’re not that they’re not $300 million players but you know what hey I’m not I’m not mad screwed himself I’m not mad I don’t Yeah I’m Go ahead. You got your championship. It’s time. So now we got New York. We got Indiana. What do you think? First of all, I just want to say whoever uh guessed this or had this on their bracket. Yeah. Um I just want to know you guys are all liars cuz nobody thought this. Nobody thought this. You’re all liars. Um I like it, man. You know what I like the most about this is that you have um two of or one of each. You have one great defensive team and you have another uh great offensive team. And you know, they always say defense wins, but we’re going to see because I thought the Pacers um kind of stumbled into the playoffs, right? They were they weren’t pay playing their best. Halle Burton wasn’t was like, you know, I was calling him a fraud. You remember a couple months ago? Like I thought, you know, this guy would have been much better and he proved me wrong. And you know, shout out to him because he’s really stepped up. It’s interesting you say that this is going to be a defensive versus offensive. Indiana beat Cleveland with defense, bro. Aaron Aaron N. Yo, Aaron Naymith destroy. Yes and no. I’m going say yes. I’m going say the reason why I say no is because you know um Spider gave them 40 a game on one leg. So, you know, I’m not going to say that. And we had the fraud the fraud defensive player of the year in um Evan Mobley. I don’t ever want no one to ever say that man is a defensive player. Yeah, that he was getting buckets on him regularly. How do you win defensive player of the year and then go out and have a performance like that? I don’t want to hear nothing about no defensive player. Jared Jared Allen is a better defender than he is, but we’re not about that. Yeah, I understand. And I like we said, wasn’t Cleveland, didn’t we think Cleveland was the Atlanta Hawks? And yeah, lo and behold, they did the same thing Atlanta Hawks did pretty much. Actually, didn’t even go as far. Didn’t Atlanta go to No, they lost in the semi. Atlanta went to I think they went to one uh Eastern finals against LeBron. That was the year that Demar Carol was the LeBron stopper and then we signed him. Why do we do that? I don’t know. Five years, bro. Five years. Come on, Messiah. Come on. So, now we got Indiana, New York. Yes. Like when we look at the matchups cuz this this is one series I don’t I’m not particularly sure of. I do want I do want New York to win because I think if a New York I would like to see New York OKC or even New York and Minnesota because that would be a most ridiculous like Minnesota went to the finals against Well, not even that. I any New York team that goes to the finals, especially in the NBA, like it’s going to be good for the league because we’re going to get content like we’ve never gotten before. You thought the Raptors championship the New York fans are going to be so lit, bro. New York might implode. like it might sink in the Hudson because that that championship potential championship. Oh man, I might fly to New York New York. And then Fibs is going to be noted as a a genius for playing. He’s not. He’s not. That’s not good. But Brunson I I like I think in between Indiana and New York um teams, Brunson is the best player by far. Yeah. Clutch player of the year. And Yeah, exactly. He’s he’s proven himself to be a big game player. And what I mean by that is when the game gets tight and you need a bucket, you can give him the ball. And I never thought I didn’t think he was this good, you know, coming from Dallas. I I knew he was a good role player u at the time, but playing behind Luca is tough, you know, and uh he he played really well that playoff series before he went to New York. Yeah. When when he was in Dallas and I I was saying to myself like I don’t know, I don’t see it yet, but I’m going to give him a chance, you know. And I think the good thing that New York did was they gave him the reigns and said, “Okay, you’re our lead guy and I want you to go out there and lead the team.” And he’s done that. Yeah. Yeah. And then and then New York did the great thing by actually surrounding him with players that that fit with him like Carl Anthony Towns, you got Muel Bridges, like yes, you gave up the farm for him, but Mikuel Bridges, you got OG. Yeah. Yeah. you know, um the only thing I would say is that there’s the bench. And that’s why I’m that’s why I’m unsure about this because Indiana, they they play 10 deep, man. Yes. Yes. And that’s going to be tough to, you know, and not even that, they have they have 10 players that play really hard. Like you look at players like N Smith and and Matthew and these guys, like, bro, these guys play really hard. And I I don’t know if you know, it’s the age old question with Tibs, like are you going to give your guys some some rest? That’s not gonna happen, bro. You know what I’m saying? Came off a tough series. They’re playing 40 minutes a night. I mean, like like is OG going to be able to keep up, you know? Like we we know someone’s got to Someone’s got to guard um Pascal. I’m not sure anyone not saying that anyone can guard him. I just think that his energy could suck it right out of him. So if you’re gonna put Michaela Bridges on him, pause. You got to pause that, brother. Sorry. I’m sorry. That was wild. What? You got to do what out of me? I’m sorry. That was Oh my god. I had to put it on, man. Time out. Two free throws at the line, please. Time out. Flag on the plate. Um, let’s do that, please. Oh, man. Go ahead. Sorry. Oh, no. I’m playing. And then, um, I find that uh, so Carl Anthony Towns and against Turner, that’s going to be a good match. Turner is going to be a great match. I think that might be the key because and then who’s guarding Jaylen Brunson? Who are you putting on? Um, you got to you got to start Hallebertton on him. But then you got Oh, no. Sorry. Not start Hallebertton on him. Yeah. You got to start like uh got to start N Smith, bro. Or N Smith. Yeah. Well, see you got that and then they got the little pest, the little annoying pest that I hate so much. My boy. Um what’s his name? Little white boy with white boy. Yeah, I like him, bro. I like him. I I can’t stand him, man. Why, bro? He does that little what? Because he’s not on my team and he does these little weird plays and you’re like, how did that go in? Right. Um, yeah. So, and then I want to see Matin’s like I want to see how Matthew He’s been quiet. He’s been quiet. Yeah, he’s been real quiet, but I think it’s going to be tough because now he has two crazy wings going to have to, you know, defend himself. This match is gonna be interesting very much. So, so who do you have? Uh to be honest with you, if if both teams played to their potential, I have the Knicks taking this in like six or seven, man. Only reason why is because um you know, they’ve proven that you know when the game is is really tight, they can lock in defensively. I haven’t seen that from the the Pacers in terms of like close game um stuff. And I know they won that the first two in um in Cleveland, but Cleveland was playing really bad. You know what I mean? Cleveland shot themselves in the foot 100 times. Um, they were the better team, but it’s just, I don’t know, injuries and all these things just kind of piled up for them. But, you know, New York really went through a tough series in Detroit and Boston and like they were show they’ve shown us that, hey, we’re trying to really go for it. You know, they don’t look like a a fake team out there. You know what I mean? They look legit right now. So, and they have the easiest path right as as of right now. Yeah, they played Milwaukee wasn’t wasn’t even they haven’t lost they’ve only lost two games in this playoffs. There you go. Um I kind of think it the longer the series goes on the more it benefits Indiana. Yes. So I think whoever wins the first two games I if it splits Yeah. I’m going with Indiana. If it if it if New York wins two, that’s that’s it, bro. So if it goes if it goes like who has home court? Um right. So, if New York wins the first two, then I’m I’m I feel bad for Indiana. Yeah, might have Indiana splits. If they split or if they if they uh steal like game five or something like that in New York, then it could be a series. But I think like you said, New York um you know, the longer this goes is bad for them because again, Tibs are going to run these guys to the ground. Exactly. run to the ground and and you know even even if they split and then Indiana wins the the third game three. Yeah. Or sorry if New York wins game three I don’t even think I still think Indiana might win at all because it’s just they Yeah. Because I think because uh Indiana has just so much energy they do and it’s like sometimes it it wear it’ll wear you down like the way that they wear down plays with a with a faster pace, right? Like their pace is really is really um is really up and down. New York likes to slow it down, get Bruntton the ball, get Cat the ball, you know, play a little inside out twoman game. And that’s where I think they’re going to have struggles because they have tons of wings that that they’re fast, right? So you have Brunson just, you know, iso on the left on the right side, right? Man, they’re going to throw Nay Smith out and Naymith’s been getting away with so much, you know, so much things when it comes to, you know, is extremely mobile, right? And I don’t think they they’ve had that um um type of center to go up against. I mean, Detroit had it, but you know, that’s Detroit. They’re still young. Boston didn’t have a pretty again Boston doesn’t play inside. Yeah, Chris was really bad, right? So, I think this is going to be their the their toughest test interior wise for New York and they don’t really have the size outside of Mitchell Robinson. I want New York to win, but I I think it’s going to be Indiana and seven. It’s going to be interesting series. depends on um it depends on um you know who’s playing up to their level cuz I feel like if Indiana plays the way they’ve been playing in terms of this you know high octane offense and this up and down pace I think they have a chance to squeeze it out in like six or seven I don’t know I don’t think it’ll I don’t think Indiana will win in six but seven yes because it’s just that amount of energy that they produce and then they got the vet Pascal Siakum want to ring the champ ring want to you got people are forgetting you know OG did not play in that 2019 uh playoffs although he was there and he went through the experience it’s different when you’re on the court so you know I think that little extra and and Pascal was the number two guy on that championship team so you know that’s and it’s showing now you can see they lean on him a lot when it when it gets crazy although Hallebertton does have his moments you know yeah Hallebertton needs to is like the anchor on that team they need to learn to pass him the ball There’s times in Yeah. Hallebertton and even like when they are bringing the ball up, Pascal’s always the first to the basket. G get him the ball, man. Just keep feeding him the ball. I feel like sometimes it’s it’s just a little cuz they’re trying to do, you know, make their own mark and, you know, it’s it’s it’s difficult. Yeah. Um so yeah, that’s our kind of prediction. Let’s go to the West now. We just finished watching OKC destroy the the Nuggets in game seven. um clean them up. But uh first quarter was looking very very sad, man. It was a really sad uh kind of game. Um it was so difficult. Like they went up 10 or 11 and then second quarter comes. 47 points. That was literally when I when I turned the TV on. That’s when it got crazy because I turned it on. I’m like, “Oh, it’s a, you know, three-point game. Oh, nice.” You know, let’s lock in and see how this goes. Then uh I think it was Jaylen Williams just went like on a 80 run by himself. He had like four steals, a few layups, and I’m just like, “All right, it’s over.” And I think and I also and we were talking about it earlier, but having Caruso um defend defend. So what they were doing was I didn’t even explain this. What they were doing was having Caruso defend at the top of the key. Yeah. And lean him and lean him into the two sevenfooters behind him. Mhm. Mhm. There was no there was no uh how do I put it? Like there was no secondary scoring, you know, score. And yeah, because the you can see the plan was get Joic the ball and let him figure it out for us. Yeah. Right. And I know in the game seven, you know, we throw the scouting reports out the window. You’ve seen each other, you know each other. It’s just give the ball to to your best player and see what he can do. And I think it was a great uh misdirect to put Caruso on Jokic this last game because they had no answer for that, right? And Caruso is playing perfect defense. But there was times where he scored through it and we’re like, which is fine because you want to give him the hope. You want to give them the hope like, hey, give him back the ball, but we have another plan for him. And you they couldn’t adjust. Uh Denver couldn’t adjust fast enough. So, I think it was a perfect game plan by the OKC coach to say, you know what, they’re anticipating this. Let’s give them something else. Yeah. Even even in the first uh the first quarter, Jaylen Williams was struggling to shoot. They were actually struggling to hit the three at all. And then and you mentioned they had not gone to the line at all in the first half. I think they went one time or two times. Yeah. And Denver went 11 times in the first quarter. First quarter. That’s ridiculous. by himself. You got to fix something. No, no, no. Those were legit fouls. Promise you they were doing some funky stuff, but like um it was a good game. And then you see Kase Wallace. You got um Andrew Wig like that there was a lineup of Andrew Wigan and um the name again. Aaron Wiggins, Caruso, Kase Wallace. Um they just went on a run on their on their own, man. Yeah. And that’s the that’s the difference with with OKC because now again you have these players that come at you in waves, right? You got Shay was going to hit you with, you know, his little her like you can’t really You know what’s funny? It reminds me of like the real championship teams when they win and when they kind of like fly through the playoffs, they have different they can put out different lineups that really like throw you off as a team, right? And I always use the Raptors as an example. You have Kawhi Leonard who can come in and do his thing, you know, slow-mo and, you know, dribble you down and post you up and, you know, give you the mid-range game, and then you can throw in a a Norman Powell who’s going to drive the ball at you at 100 miles an hour. Yeah. Pascal, same thing. You know what I mean? Like, you can give teams different looks, and OKC can do that. They can sub five and give you um a totally different look and still have you on your toes, you know? So that’s for me that’s how I see like these guys are legit now because they have defensive players, they got MVP players, secondary scorers, you know, third um um level scorer like they have it all, bro. They have it all. They do. They do. And then the three-point and it’s the effort like Lou Dorts. Yes. Effort on the offensive rebound just tipping it. Just tip, you know. Um Oh, yeah. No, but I’m like I think and you know what’s funny? Who was it that said it? Um the Lakers coach. Um he always talked about, you know, getting that extra Yes. jump and tip just so that we can try to get that extra position. That’s Marian. That’s Marian was great at that. You know, like uh Draymond is good at that. Like guys who know how to position himself. Um you know, even Pascal in Toronto a lot of times he couldn’t get the rebound. He’s tipping it out, you know, and getting extra possession. Marcus Saul. Marcus Saul is great at that. Yeah. And you know, for me, like watching Denver when I knew this game was over in in that end of second quarter area there, like they were getting they were turning over the ball and no one was running back on defense. No one. And I said, “Okay, it’s over.” Like you could just tell like um um Joic lost the ball, I think, three times in a row. Yeah. Um and they went on a 6080 run and I’m like, “Okay, no one is back on defense. It’s threeon one and nobody’s even like running back.” And that’s why that’s why I’m a little pissed off at Michael Porter Jr. like he didn’t try. He didn’t even try. It’s game seven. I understand. I understand the younger players like Strawther and um Straw and Watson. They they tried their best. But like yo, you’re a vet, bro. Come on. You’re a championship. You know what it’s like. You’ve been there. Hit a bucket, bro. Basket. I don’t know. Post someone up. I don’t know what you All right. So now, what do you think about the matchup between Minnesota and OKC? Because So, I like this matchup uh for many reasons because I think this is going to be another challenge for Anthony Edwards. You know, um he’s going to have a million different looks um defensively thrown at him. And I think this is going to show me if he is going to take that next step as a superstar, right? Same thing for for Shay because you know Nquille Alexander Walker’s cousin I’m sure is going to check him sometimes. Um you know Anthony Edwards might check him sometimes. Like there’s going to be times where he’s going to have some trouble with that defense but I think you know in the end that that depth man and OKC is really going to come forth. Yeah. When you put that second unit out there it’s going to look nasty you know if they go on run like they did tonight. you saw issues with Minnesota this this uh playoffs as well when you know sometimes um Anthony wasn’t yeah yeah just just not there and this team especially has the the skill set to take Anthony Edwards out of this game. So it’s going to be it’s going to be down to the to the vets, right? So can can um our man Rudy Gobear take on a a bigger role? I don’t I don’t think so. I don’t know if um you know Matt Connley can help out in that in that sense. I actually have I have I think Okay, so he might win in in five, bro. Well, you know what? We’re we’re forgetting one player and um he’s he’s been on my list of overrated players ever since I seen him come into the league, but he’s actually kind of proven me wrong, you know, this the last series. Um you know, Julius Randall, like you know, to me, he’s one of the worst players I’ve ever seen play basketball. Um, but I have the worst. It’s a black hole. But this this playoff Okay, don’t let me get started. Okay, if you watch this playoffs, bro, you can you have the the floor. Go ahead. I’m all right. Listen to me, right? Julius Randall is one of the most overrated, overappreciated, overpaid, hyped up black hole. No, no dribble move that he can do twice in a row. no post move that he can do twice in a row player I’ve ever seen in my life. This dude is left-handed and he can never dribble right for to save you make $30 million a year. You got to learn to dribble right sometimes, bro. You can’t just put your head down and push your way through the defense. That’s not how it works. That’s not how it works. Okay, but within this but Hold on, let me finish because I’m gonna give him his props. Okay. This last series he he’s played well, right? He’s he’s averaging at least I think it’s like over 24 points or something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty pretty well. He’s been playing pretty well. I’m going to give him his props. At the same time, if it gets a little tight, I’m promise you he’s going to start going back to that um the way of playing where he just try to drives to the rim and throws the ball up and then starts looking at the ref and complaining like, “Oh, it’s a foul.” No, you put your head down and try to dribble through a sevenfooter. What do you mean? Like, you need to have skills at this at this level. Like, I’m telling you, this round coming up is going to expose him. I’m telling you right now. Yeah, Shel, I just I I know you brought him up, but I don’t know how he’s going to deal with a seven two sevenfooters in in the post. This is my point. If they check on him, then I know I know exactly the game plan. They’re going to try to go at him in the post and try to bully him, but that’s not going to win you the series. It’d be interesting. It’d be interesting to kind of see if they do not even put Chad on him, put Cruso on him again, uh, like how they did with thing and just have let’s see what he does because now now you sitting there holding the ball and those hands are quick. Yo, can I be real honest with you? I would put stand on him and and let go let someone else guard go. Let Caruso guard go because Go is not like he’s just he’s long like in terms of you know he can just his reach is there and he gets a lot of rebounds and put backs that way but if we’re talking about a sevenfooter who’s strong and box out he’s not that he just uses his his his length a lot of times pause so why not put Hardenstein on him and that’s it just No, what I’m saying I’ll put Hart and Stein on on Randall because Randall likes to to body up, right? Yeah. So, let one of these other guys deal with Goldar. And you know, Goar is not really a threat unless he’s on the offensive board or defensive board. So, put put your your strongest center on on Randall. I’m telling you, he’s going to shut them down. Yeah. But again, Anthony Edwards is, you know, MJ’s son, so I don’t know how he’s going to play cuz if he starts going crazy, then Yeah. But that’s and that’s fine. But look look what look what Jokic did. The issue with Jokic was that he gets everyone else involved. But exactly Anthony doesn’t do that yet. He’s not at that level yet. So let him go off. Let him score 50. I think he’s not gonna win 89 to 122. Yeah. Because no one else will score the ball. That’s That’s why I say I I I have I think I have OKC in five. I do. I do as well. I don’t know if it’s five. I’m The only reason why is because it’s the the West Finals. I think um I think the Wolves they made the finals what a couple years ago. Last year. Yeah. Yeah. So I think I think you know they had that over their head and if they start to play bad the media is going to get at them and Anthony Edwards is a bulletin board type of player. So remember they when the Lakers won a couple games that series they’re all like oh Lakers are fired. Lakers are fire and he just he went off you know. So, I want to see what he’s going to use this series to kind of say, “Okay, let me use this as fuel.” Because he’s always needed that, you know, as a player. So, we’ll see, man. I’m excited to see them. But I want to see uh I want to see that MVP trophy for Shay, man. He He deserves it now. He’s pro. I have a feeling, bro, that they weren’t going to give it until after. They wanted to see the series. Yeah, I know. I know. You want to see the series? I I know. I know the votes are in. You know that. Remember, you remember when Durk got his MVP in was it 2008, 78, whatever when they lost in the first round? Yeah. They I think the NBA changed it after that because it’s like this is embarrassing. Our MVP is going home in the first round. Yeah, they lost to Golden State. Talk Yeah. But he got the MVP trophy after he lost. Let’s change gears. Uh, we’re gonna talk about the um bogus um um draft NBA draft. Envelope. Let’s do it, man. The bogus NBA draft. Um, let’s do this. Let’s do this. That’s right. So, the draft lottery um unfortunately and I want to say whoever got this on their um prediction, you’re a liar. Nobody had going. Yeah, you’re 100% lying. So, uh let’s get into this, man. Hey, get this man’s boxes off my screen, bro. Anyways, so the conspiracy is that No, no, no, no, no, don’t use that word. Don’t use that word. Don’t Let’s not do that. No, it’s not a conspiracy anymore. You were saying truth. It’s not a conspiracy, bro. The It’s too much facts. It’s too many. First of all, let’s start from the beginning. There was a backdoor deal with Dallas and LA. When does that ever happen in the NBA? When does it not? How does a player like Luca get traded without any leaks, any reports, nothing? How does that happen? Again, I Me and you talked about this. Who calls one team? One team Lakers and says, “You want Luca? Come on, bro. Come on, bro. Give us your second best player. We’ll give you our generational 25 year old player.” Come on. Cuz he’s fat. Yeah. So, you couldn’t put him on a meal plan? You told me Dallas defense wins championships. All right. All right. Cool. All right. And then I know what this was. This was a play for because remember, let’s add to the quoteunquote conspiracy. Um, what’s going to happen next year? Uh, the NBA is moving their TV rights, right, over to ESPN and and and uh Amazon and all these places. So, what do they need? They need their best team or their sorry, their their money-making team, the Lakers, to be relevant. They can’t afford for LeBron to say, “Hey, I’m going to be retired.” when they got a new TV deal coming in and their their cash cow doesn’t have a superstar. Thank you for adding that to it. Think about it. And they gave Dallas Cooper Flag. Yeah, exactly. And like, so let’s let’s take it further. Remember Cooper Flag said, “Oh, I might go back to college cuz I’m I’m making money over here. I might stay in college for another.” You remember that? And how quickly that was changed? how quickly that went. Hush hush. Okay. So So okay, man. Let’s let’s just let’s let’s kind of take it down a notch. Okay. You’re Dallas. You’re Nico, right? Yes. Um you want to win a championship before Luca? Sure. Sure. Do you keep the number one pick? Absolutely. I’m tell you why. Okay. Tell me. You took a gamble. Let’s go way back before Nico. You um Mark Cuban took a gamble and uh got Kyrie Irving, right? Yeah. This is at the height of when Kyrie Irving was, you know, being scrutinized by the public and the media for posting a link. Um, turns out he takes you to the NBA finals. You were not, you were not expecting that, right? No one anticipated them getting to the finals that year. Yeah. Anyways, he becomes a darling. He, you know, him and Luca, great tandem, whatever, whatever, right? They kind of flamed out in the finals. Sure, it happens, right? Some teams are just like Luca’s young, right? It’s his first trip to the finals. He probably wasn’t really prepared for it, you know, um such and such. And Boston back. Yeah, exactly. And they couldn’t defend a three. Whatever the case is, I’m not putting that loss on Luca. As much as they want to say they looked at the footage and they’re like, “Oh, I don’t think we can win with him.” That’s a lie. Anyways, fast forward to to this past season. Um Kyrie, uh sorry, Dallas gets starts out slow, right? They’re not really winning as much and they didn’t win as much when they went to the finals either. Let’s remember that. Yeah, they were the weren’t they the six seed or something? Six seed or something. Exactly. They weren’t even playing that well that season. Anyways, the deal happens when Luca gets traded, right? Kyrie gets hurt. All of a sudden, Dallas is no good anymore. They can’t win games. They start to, you know, drop in the standings, increasing their odds, their odds of winning of winning the lottery. Now it gets to a point where um the NBA is like, “Okay, well, you know, Nico is getting all this hate, you know, death threats and such. He can’t even walk in his own stadium without security.” And the league is like, “Okay, well, you guys give up Luca to our cash cow, right, to help boost sales over there. We got to pay you back, right?” One of the best drafts in recent history in the last maybe like 15, 20 years. Yeah. Cooper flag is there just waiting there, right? What do they do? They say, “Oh, the team with the best odds is this.” And for for months, they’ve been throwing it in our face. This team has the best odds. This team has the best odds. Dallas wasn’t even a thought. Nope. One point. Get the draft lottery. Get to the draft lottery. They they they Toronto number nine. Brooklyn number eight, New Orleans. These are teams that have horrible records. Horrible records. New Orleans, Washington, Utah fifth. Utah had the worst record this year, I think. Yeah, I think are them or Charlotte. One of them. No, they were when I saw Charlotte four, I said, “Oh, I know what this is. I know exactly what this is. I’ve seen this before.” Everyone said you like, “You’re not the saw number four.” I’m like, “I know exactly what this When everyone saw the on, we were all on Twitter spaces and as soon as they said the top like that Charlotte got four, we’re like Dallas is winning it. We all knew. We all knew. We all knew, bro. They can’t hide it anymore. And this is what I don’t like because the NBA for years has said, “Oh, you know, we we got to keep these small market teams relevant and you know, we’re going to change the CBA rules where, you know, if the team address drafts a player, he can’t leave without these penalties and blah blah blah blah blah.” Ever ever since KD left uh for the Warriors, they change all these rules about players um switching teams and whatnot. This is why the players opt out of contracts and say they want to go to where they want to go because you have this foolishness. Yeah. Right. Imagine I’m I’m I’m Okay, I’m going to use KD as an example, right? Imagine Katie was on Charlotte his whole career, right? Couldn’t win a championship because he can’t get no help. No one wants to go there. Uh no one wants to sign there. They can’t draft players. And then he he ends up, you know, maybe year eight, nine, and with a chance to win the the draft lottery, get a star player to play with him, and then end up with the fourth pick. You know how pissed off I’d be if I’m a player? Yeah. Do you think LaMelo’s not looking at this like, yo, I’m out of here, bro. This is ridiculous. So, I I think I understand those proportions, but Charlotte can’t say anything. They got the third pick and they got they won the lottery. So, Charlotte can’t say nothing. Listen, it’s teams like Dallas. It’s not winning the lottery, Dre. It’s not winning the lottery. It’s when you win the lottery. Remember, the Raptors had a number one pick, too, right? And one of the worst drafts of all time. That was You know what I’m saying? Like, let’s let’s not talk about just winning the lottery. And it’s interesting when you win the lottery. Someone posted that anytime you trade your your uh star player to Yeah, I saw it. I saw it win the lottery. That’s a fact. That’s a fact. It’s a fact. It’s it’s it’s hard to like to denounce it because we’ve seen the trend over the last 10 15 years. Thing is though, if I’m Dallas, I actually would like if if Giannis didn’t say anything, I would have traded him for for Yeah, he never spoke if he never said anything, I would have definitely Yeah. traded him. But now, is there any Is there any player in this league right now that you would trade the number one pick for other than Giannis? Trade? You mean like trade the number one pick for for Cooper Flag right now? Anyone in this league that would make like you’re you want to win a championship like you want to win a championship. See now now you’re putting incentives in there. Um I would trade I would put KD Katie and the Suns. No, for that number one pick. I’d put Katie on Dallas, man. What do you mean? You’re not. I put him on Dallas right now. No, man. No way. I would never for I don’t think I’m saying I would put You mean for like who? What do you mean? Like for I don’t like if you want I like the number one pick is worth Giannis for sure. Well, this I’m just saying this number one pick right now for Cooper Flag. I wouldn’t trade him for KD. That That’s someone else. Okay. Sure. I I was thinking more like Jaylen Brown from Boston. That’s $300 million. But I I think I don’t I don’t know if Dallas should the player the players don’t the players don’t um don’t and it’s crazy to say this but the players are not the same in terms of impact. Jaylen Brown is great finals MVP but what Cooper Flat could potentially be that is not a great uh trading. But now you’re thinking you’re saying potentially can be like well but that’s what they have Kyrie and Anthony Davis right those guys those guys aren’t going to be around for a while. I’m saying that’s what the that’s what the draft is, right? Every every person that’s drafted or potentially going to be drafted here is a what if. Yeah. Right. Sam Buoie was not projected. Yeah, but that’s what I’m saying because it’s a what if. Why not trade why not trade for a win now player? Like I don’t think KD is a win now player in a sense. That’s what the first pick. Not a first pick. Maybe maybe the third pick. Maybe the fourth or fifth pick. I don’t think he’s the right now. But again, okay, what who are we like what are you getting? Um depending on where Cooper goes, like what what are you getting? You know what I mean? Like what type of player is he going to be on with set team? We don’t know, right? Depending on the situation that he goes to. Yeah. I mean, Dallas to me is is a great fit. Um because they need a wing, right? Klay Thompson is is, you know, dwindling down. I just don’t like when when when teams like for example um Warriors back when they had the second pick they they took um the big man they drafted for and not only that they didn’t develop him so he ended up stunting his growth because because they’re in a win now situation right you have to remember that I I understand that but it’s it hap it’s happened before in the past with other teams like look at look what um Detroit did instead of going for Criminal Anthony. They took took my boy, right? Because they needed it, right? This is why when I hear these these guys talk about the Raptors and saying, “Oh, well, you know, we need us uh this, we need a that.” No, you draft talent, bro. That’s what the draft is for. You draft talent, right? You develop you develop players for what you need, but you draft the talent. You can always move the talent whenever you need to. Yeah. But you draft the best player available. That is what the draft is for. Yeah. Talent, bro. talent. We tal you brought up the Raptors. Have you been looking at any players like what what kind of player do you want in this in this draft? So, we have two picks. We have the 39th pick. Yeah. And we have the ninth. So, you know what? I’m not going to be Debbie Downer because we got the ninth pick. We didn’t get top five. And I get it. There’s a lot of good players that are not being um highlighted, right? And I think if you do your research, you will find a few gems in in in there. And remember, a lot of these guys that are going um you know, top five are one and done, right? And we’ve who’s the last one and done in recent years that has really flourished in the league, right? It’s there’s not many. There’s not many. There’s I’m I’m not saying Cooper flag and these guys, you know, are not going to be great, but it’s not a guarantee to say get a 19year-old and throw him on an NBA team and say he’s going to take you to the promised land, right? It just doesn’t work out like that anymore. That’s true. That’s true. I think the real winners in the draft are the ones who could find the guy that, you know, has great character, good talent that could be developed, right? Um, and someone that you can say, okay, well, he wasn’t a number one pick or a number five or sorry, number two, three, four pick, but you know, he turned out to be the best player in the draft in hindsight. Yeah. Um, you know, the Raptors did it with Jamal Shed just this last season. Yep. Right. No one was talking about him. I remember his run um in in in Houston that that year before he got injured. Um you know, he was he was one of the one of the bright spots. So, at number nine, I think we can draft a really good player. There’s one player that stood out to me in recent days that they were talking about Carter Bryant. Um not Brian Carter. Interesting. Okay. Yeah, Carter Bryant. Yeah. I like his game. Reason why remember I always told you I wanted Ace Bailey, right? That was my number one. Yeah. Uh pick for me. For me, if we got top three or whatever, I’m taking Bill Bailey. Reason why the talent is there and it could be developed. Can shoot, bro. Anytime you compare someone to Tracy McGrady and he’s 610, put him on my team, bro. Well, now we found out he’s 67. Sure. Sure. But it’s a it’s still he can still score, bro. The eye test tells me he can shoot over the defense, so that’s all I care about. Um, you know, uh, so yeah, like I’m saying, you know, Carter Bryan is is someone that I saw and I watch his tapes and I’m like, okay, he is a one he’s a 1A to ace Bailey type, you know. Um, the Raptor needle standing 610. Yeah, the Raptors need shooters and he’s a a decent shooter. He’s, you know, I don’t know him well enough, his game enough, but from what I’ve seen, I like it at number nine. So, we’ll see, man. I don’t know. I don’t know. Cool. I me for for me I I need we need a big man. Like I really want a big man and I’m not I do not want any guards or any players under six. Yeah. I don’t want no small. Yeah. No. Don’t bring no small guys here. Yeah. We have the players I’ve been looking at and this is like Trey Johnson is like is like I hope he drops to us but and sorry to cut you but this is another thing with the draft man. We don’t know what these organizations are thinking. That’s where I was. This is where I was coming in right now. Like what’s happening here is like for instance, yes, Dallas is going to take flag. But then we get the two I don’t think Spurser might even draft Dylan Harper. They have the year and they have Fox and they have so like that you know behind those guys like it doesn’t make sense. So now the question is what is the number two worth? Ah, see now we’re talking, right? So then we go to three, right? I think Sixers are probably going to grab Ace Bailey. But but even that Okay. Okay. Stay there. Stay there. Yeah. If they take Ace Bailey, right? Yeah. Does Paul George stay? Paul George. What’s the point? What’s he has to stay? There’s no there’s no one taking that contract. Ace can’t play the two. He He’s not He’s not fit for the two guard. So then So that’s So that’s what I’m trying to say. So maybe you don’t pick Ace. You see what I’m saying? A big that I’m telling you. But yo, Dylan Harper could drop to seven, bro. Yeah, Dylan Harper kind of throws it off because these teams don’t need point guards. If you go down the list, you go down to Charlotte. Charlotte doesn’t need a point guard. DJ would would actually fit better. to but uh do they want that? You know what I mean? Like they actually need a big They actually need a big right. So now we’re like this is where someone someone had put Victor Queen at three and then off that Raptors um board please. I don’t want to see him. We’re I’m done with him now. I don’t I don’t want But I like him but I don’t know. Um n size for for that for what we want. I know he’s 69 bro. He’s 69 as a center. Yeah. I don’t want that though on on I know I know I know what you’re saying but a playmaker center I can shoot again he’s a playmaker on a team with other playmakers right how much how much ball bro the more playmakers a team has the better sure I’m going give you that I just I wouldn’t take him at nine that’s just my thing I would take him at I would take him at nine but then there’s Malawatch Malawatch is 17 is dropped significantly it’s dropped And not they’re not going to dis discredit the 72. No, you can’t. And you can’t teach that, right? You can’t teach the his his his size and his length. Pause. But, you know, he’s he’s going to be somebody that he has to go to a good franchise that that could develop him. Yeah. Right. If he goes to uh sorry, um uh Pelicans like he’s probably going to, you know, or even he might go to he might go to freaking Sixers. Yeah. Or Charlotte. Or Charlotte. So, like then there’s this one everyone’s been talking about. I do not like this guy at all. He cannot shoot. Forget it. I’m tired of guys that at that size that can’t shoot like what’s your purpose? This the NBA is all about shooting now. Yeah. Why are you here and you can’t shoot? Yeah. Like another guy, this guy here, this is one guy that I’m I’m really high on. He can play defense. When I say defense, yo, France is like developing players. Yeah. Oh, yeah. For sure. But I know, let me once we’re off this, I’ll give you an idea, a thing that I noticed about French players. And it’s a it’s a more of a me and you conversation, not else. But, um, and then Edgar Denin is starting to move up in the draft now because they actually see he can shoot. Mhm. And then the sleeper for me is this guy here, Thomas Silver. So, okay. 610 and a half. Mhm. Can defend. Shot blocker. Rim rim protector. Yeah. Can rebound. Wingspan 76. Nice. Agile. Can shoot the three. Mhm. He’s the prototypical center. I like There you go. I have a feeling this guy might drop to us or might be on the board for us. I like that. 610. He’s injured right now. He’s injured right now, but that’s fine. I mean, remember OG was injured um when we drafted him. Look how he turned up. Yeah. So, those are the players I’m looking at. Someone else, some other people are saying Rasheed Fleming, but those three like the the dream would be obviously top four or John, of course. Um, okay. So, question three. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, finish finish with that. I was going to say I was going to say we still need to trade someone. So yeah, this is where I’m going now. So now, because this draft to me is not going to be as up and down as people think it is outside of Cooper and Dylan and Ace, even VJ, like sure those guys are locked to be, you know, high valued assets. My thing is this order, and we just touched on it briefly, but like do the do the 76ers and and the the Spurs and these play teams, do they look at it and say, “Let’s keep our pick or move around like are other teams trying to get higher?” Remember like when Boston traded up for uh for uh Tatum or they traded down I think something like that. I don’t remember what they traded down for Tatum and let the Sixers Yeah. Okay, here here’s the issue. Yeah, here it is right here. Raptors are in salary next year for 178 million. And let’s add the the the asterisk that Messiah is still I think this is last year this year. Yes, this was last year. So now this is very important. This is very important because now when you’re signing players um when your contract is not signed does the team you know want to sign these players because it’s no longer your decision moving forward if you’re not going to be here. Exactly. It becomes the team and the future whoever is in that position um decision. So yeah, this is important. Very important. is an issue because we have literally all this money stacked up in four players plus plus sorry five players. Yeah. And yeah too it’s like too much. Someone something has to give here because they can’t even like they have enough to sign the first round pick and the second round pick and other than that they’re they’re done. They can’t sign anyone else or else they’re paying a lux luxury tax. So, someone has to move. Hold on, hold on. Stop right there. Is PJ Tucker on our books? Uh, no, no, no. He’s not zero. Oh, scary. We took him last year. That was a Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. We traded that contract. So, we have to trade. In my mind, you have to trade either Manuel Quickley or RJ Barrett. Yeah. Yeah. You have to know RJ RJ Barrett seems to be the the one everyone is, you know, talking about moving. Oh, yeah. Because for starters, you can’t trade your It’s hard to trade a point guard, especially the one that you given the reigns to. And I know we have Jamal Shed, but like you’ve given you given this guy the contract. Um, he had a really that’s the guy I want to move. That’s the guy I want to move. He’s had the bad year last year, and I feel like he’s had two bad years. It’s It’s going to be hard to trade that. I know it’s easy to say you want him off the team, but remember the other team has to accept the trade as well, right? Yeah. So, what are you really selling them on? Just quickly, uh, we got a comment by from IM Rap should look at Maxine Ronald. Shout out to you. Thank you, uh, IM for messaging. Um, Ronald is actually really moving up. Sevenfooter. Hold on, let me see if I can find him. Yeah. So, 71 71 and a half from France. He can play, bro. He He’s good. He’s got a great motor and I’m looking for Stanford. He went into the into the the portal the G- League um league thing. Oh, the Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And sorry, the combine um scrimmage, 21 points, nine rebounds, and they shut him down. Wow. Wow. So, he’s actually one of the better. He has your eye on him then. Yes. He’s starting to move up into the draft into the first round. I know. I think some mockups. I think there’s any more mockups. This is my thing. There’s a few there’s one other kid um a point guard lefty man. I forgot his name. I should have written it down. Oh, I know who you’re talking. He had a great game in in the combine of scrimmage. Oh, he had like 21 and something like Yeah. Young lefty kid, man. Uh he was a walk-on actually. I see him. I forgot his name. This guy. Not No, it was I know exactly who you’re talking to because I watched video on him. Yeah. Very shifty. Very shifty. But he’s 61. That was the issue. But that’s the thing. He had like a 43 inch vert. Yeah. 43. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. What was his name? It’s like it starts with a T or something like that. Don’t remember, man. I wish I Do you guys remember? Anyone out there? Remember? And then there’s the Chinese guy 72. He actually can play as well. He’s very good. And then we got the Canadian Ryan Nemhard. He’s been playing on that team, too. He’s doing well. He’s drafting it up cuz uh apparently he’s one of the top shooters at draft right now. Exactly. Yeah. Yep. Um but yeah, let’s get back to the Raptor salary. So, sorry. Thank you for shouting this out there. But yeah, um it looks like RJ is the one player that looks like can be moved because he’s not the tough one because he actually had a good year last year. Career highs and everything. His value definitely is up there right now. What I think is hard is and I hate saying this, but it’s a sentimental value, bro. Yeah. I don’t want to That’s what I’m saying. I don’t want to move. a Canadian and he has best year and you know his brother passing you know all those things like like I know what we’re saying cuz we’re we’re we’re talking numbers now. We’re talking you know numbers and all those things but we’re not looking at the human aspect of it cuz it’s hard it’s hard to really gauge you know where a team is in terms of how they feel about the the player. You know he came here he’s a third third pick overall. Um had his best year his best season. Mhm. How do you just say, “Okay, well, we got to trade him because we’re going to draft somebody and blah blah.” You need scoring wings to win in this game. Absolutely. Absolutely. I think I think RJ and a nine. One of the trades people have been saying is RJ and a nine for the second pick. Who would you take though? Dylan Harper. So, okay. See, now it goes back to where’s Harper going to play? Number two. a point. I know quickly. We’re gonna play quickly. Quickly has to come off the bench, bro. You can’t. Yeah, but but you gota you gota you got to draft the title. Million a year. What is that? 32 million a year. That’s why I think you should move if you can move quickly. But I think if we got the second be difficult. Yeah, it’s going to be difficult to move. If we got the second pick for nine and and RJ, right? Mhm. Mhm. Are we taking Ace Bailey? Are we taking VJO? So, you would take Bailey? I would take Dylan Harper because if I’m giving up if I agree, but if I’m giving up RJ, I’m not taking another point guard, right? I’m I just can’t I can’t We have and Emanuel Quickley. That’s three really good guards right there. Yeah. Right. I have my in my mind I’m not sure um Emanuel Quickley’s is is ready for that. He’s not he hasn’t um consistently proven it. He’s had flashes even in New York he had flashes of greatness but like the consistency hasn’t been there yet and I know it was tough last year cuz he really wanted to be on the floor but man it’s just hard to right now. It’s an issue, man. Like, so in my mind, I don’t know who would take Manu Quickley’s contract because that’s move. He jumped the gun and signing him. I think at the time, you know, the Raptors were thinking of making a push, you know, um that coming off that season and getting RJ and and Emanuel was like, “Okay, well, let’s go back and make a push.” And then it kind of didn’t work out. So, they they shifted their focus to the draft. But now they’re in a position where they, like you said, they got to move somebody. You want you want me to get a little crazy now? Okay, let me hear this nonsense though. It’s nonsense for sure. But I do believe this. I actually would trade I would trade Scotty for the two pick. All right, guys. Thank you so much for listening to the board podcast. Um I’m not your host because I would never say nothing like that. U jersey behind him, two of them. I I actually believe I believe in in Dylan Harper. I believe that we could get it would probably be Harper and some other players coming back for for Scotty. We keep the nine rebuild team on me. Mute up for a second. Solo on me. Just just the whole screen. Solo on me. Solo solo on me. Andre, I love you, bro. I love you, man. Just don’t Let’s not do this. Okay. Let’s not, man. I’m your brother and I love you, man. Don’t ever say that again. Okay, well, we got we got Okay, hold on. We got to think about this. Okay, think about it. And we just lost like five followers. Five. Okay, we talked about it. You said the craziest things. No, but we talked about it and it’s like if you think about Let’s look at the salaries, right? We just gave Scotty Barnes 38 million. Sure. Right. Um, and we have and we’re supposed to and we’re supposed to be, you know, we should be making playoffs this year. Yeah. We if we build this team correctly, wouldn’t it be better to build it off of a of a off of a player like like say a Dylan Harper or an Ace Bailey? We still don’t know. Again, again, again, I’m going to say this again. We still don’t know what these and these players are great don’t get me wrong and that’s what I said to them but how long are we going to wait it’s been two years it’s been what one and a half season like two seasons now what for like do you okay I think about Scotty in general not Scotty it’s cuz I like Scotty I really want I’m thinking this core right now do you believe in it you know what it’s hard to believe in anything that you haven’t really seen you know I mean not to get into the Bible talks but like yeah You have to have a lot of faith to believe in something that you can’t see. Uh hold on. One guy said the luxury tax at 187 million. So technically we’re going for the first apron and not the second. Exactly. And that’s the issue because if they um if they’re in the first apron that’s kind of fine, but they it hampers them meaning they can’t do certain trades and stuff like that. Um, and we’re not good enough to be in the first a I was just going to say I was just going to say that we have to compete. We have to compete like right out the gate. We can’t have a slow start. We have to compete right out and and you know what’s funny too? I think the Raptors know what they’re doing in terms of why they sign these players so quickly. Yeah. And there’s got to be some play in in in behind this because again Oh, also just to add this add to that that means no Chris Buchche this year. I’m you know me where I stand on that man. I love Chris Bch. But if we want if we’re trying to win, you know, Chris won him six games in a row and made us lose the freaking fifth pick. Yeah. He basically said, you know, I don’t want to see Ace Billy or any of these guys in Toronto. Yeah. He won a six game straight, but that was when it the games didn’t really mean much. Uh so, so that’s like if we don’t believe we don’t believe in this core, what is why are we why are we so locked in to this core? if maybe the team does, maybe the organization does because I I wouldn’t sign these guys to these deals, especially the Ingram uh signing, right? I get trading him because you want to see what you can what you can do with it. Um but to sign him right away was kind of interesting to me because that’s why I said a one-on-one deal like I don’t I don’t locking yourself into it, right? You’re locking yourself and what if he, God forbid, what if he has another ankle sprain where he’s out for six months? You know what I mean? like it’s going to really really hamper us because we’re putting a lot on him. You know, we brought him here. We’re saying, “Okay, he’s going to be our closer. He’s going to be our go-to scorer, which is he has the capability of doing that, right? He’s won a lot of games, you know, game winners and, you know, hit tough shots and stuff like that. We need someone like that, but he hasn’t played six games, bro. He’s played six games.” Well, I’m hope Listen, man. We got the number one um um doctor in the NBA, I’d say, leaguewise. That’s true. That’s true. I would say, right? Anyone that can nurse Kawhi Leonard back to health, um, I’ I’d give him number one. So, we got Alex Mcknney. Yeah. And, you know, if he can help turn around this injury plague team from last season, I think we have a real shot of being like, Yeah. But my issue again is the coaching, man. Like, I don’t I don’t know if Darko’s Darko can win games. That’s what, you know, defense defensively Yeah, I used to I used to give Casey the same flack, you know, but in hindsight, Casey really helped build a solid foundation to help us win the championship. And I I’m I wonder if that’s the same thing here. If Dark is here to defensive defensive foundation, but hear me out. Hear me out. I think he’s I think he’s here to like cuz remember he was given a rebuilding team, right? So in his mind he’s No, he wasn’t. He was given a great team, bro. you an og and half but he forgot about he didn’t even remember that um I don’t know man like I think he was probably telling him like listen these guys are eventually going to be on their way out and we’re going to focus on such and such and such and once he got the rebuilding team it was more so focus of teaching these guys how to play basketball yeah but I think this is a this is an issue with with um Messiah how how do you have your best player and don’t talk to him all summer. Right. You you you’re say you’re talking about trading him. You tell the coach you’re trading you’re going to be trading him. The coach doesn’t even plan or prepare. Yeah. Pascal doesn’t even plan or prepare for him to be playing in the in the on this team. Like these these little things are are starting to add up especially because it’s not you’re not winning. They’re they’re going to be shown. They’re going to be blown up, right? And those are those are the things I we have to, you know, think about and talk about when it comes to, you know, are we trying to rebuild? Are we trying to, you know, I don’t know if Emanuel Quickley or RJ is worth a second or third pick, right? And it’s like you have to you have to keep continuously getting better and improve improving. And for sure you this we screwed up this draft. They screwed up this tank and we and everyone’s like, “Oh, no, we didn’t because it didn’t matter.” No, bro. We were the fifth. We were think talented, bro. Our team was too talented to to tank in the way. Everyone else Everyone else decided made a decision to tank. Well, actually, it didn’t even matter because guess what? They were always g to give Dallas the number one pick. Yeah, but I I that’s not what I’m talking I’m talking about the top four, right? And that’s that’s what we wanted to get into the top four. And we had the fifth position going into the into the thing until we went on that six game win streak. And guess who ended up with the fifth position? Freaking Sixers. And the Sixers got the third pick. It came out that um if you saw the uh what was it the number the odds numbers and they said the Raptors were one number off from number one pick. Yeah. BS. One number off and then three numbers off the second pick. The second pick. Right. Um listen the lot what we’re speaking a lot of hypotheticals here. Right. At the end of the day the guys got to put at fifth. That’s where Sixers were. Sixers made the decision to tank and they freaking shut down everyone. So, I’m sorry, bro. Like, you know what? You want to feed the ego of Chris Bucher. Um, right. That doesn’t make any sense to me if you’re trying to do something. And then going signing, you know, you go and trade for Brandon Ingram, which made no sense in at at the moment because we’re like, I thought we were tanking. What What are you What are you doing? the the teams that the players that were making us lose, you move them out, right? Although I was very happy to see him see my that guy go go at the same time. It just makes us think, okay, now we’re all in next year. But did we did we learn anything this year? Did we The only thing I think we learned was we developed these young players and that Scotty Barnes is is who he is? You know, man, there’s really nothing I can say except we’ll see because there’s no real answer to it. It’s it’s all in hindsight right now. Yeah. You know what I mean? It’s it’s passed. It’s gone. It’s happened already. There’s only so much we can say, you know, and we cuz we really don’t know the direction. If Messiah doesn’t sign his contract, we really don’t know what the direction is cuz whoever whoever comes in after him could just totally wipe out all of this in an instant. You know what I mean? I’m saying it out. And and that’s where I don’t know. That’s where I’m like I would rather move I really want to move IQ. I like him, but point guard, he’s not he’s not it. We already we’ve we’ve seen enough. He’s not it. He can’t defend the point of attack. He cannot like he just can’t. And then um RJ, I like him. I want to keep him, but I think he is not a starter. He is a bench player. He is a guy that you bring him off the bench and then he doesn’t have to worry about defending. But when he’s a starter and he’s playing starter minutes and he’s out there and being a pylon, it doesn’t it really doesn’t help, right? So, we have to actually, you know, as a fan base. Oh, I sound like a monster. Anyways, uh that that’s how I think this is how I’m feeling about this. Um I’m going to take you off for a second. Bro, ask me. Yeah. So, that’s that’s how I think about um the Raptors is that we have to make some bold decisions. Sixers were losing with Embiid and Oh, should I add that? And podcast P. Yes, that’s the that’s the name. Um but yes, they were losing and but here’s the thing, right? they made the decision to kind of shut everyone down and they ended up with the fifth place, fifth um position and that’s where the Raptors were all year until we went on that stupid win streak for no reason, right? And then we end up we you know Sixers got the third pick like I said and we got what the ninth pick and like just again just having the the more chances and just you know it helps right I understand Brooklyn I understand um you know uh the Pelicans and whatever but you need to put yourself in the best position to win. That’s how I feel about this. All right you’re back. Yeah, my bad. I change camera. No problem. Yeah. Um, but I was like I was say trying to say um I am just Sixers were losing with Embiid and podcast speed. That’s a fact. It was a fact, right? So, but I like I said, the Raptors had to make a decision. We We said this and they didn’t. They just didn’t. Well, listen, man. Again, exactly. You got to live with it. Listen, the Leafs. The Leafs. What’s happening? It’s five nothing now. Leafs, man. This This is what I got for y’all. I’m not a hockey fan. Um, not neither am I. But I mean, come on. I feel bad that the Leafs keep losing in the second round. It’s part of their DNA right now. But, uh, yeah, that’s ridiculous. That’s That’s tough. That’s tough. Someone Someone just tweeted, um, is there a hockey coil letter we can trade for? That’s I I always wonder, but hockey is such a unique sport where you need players and it’s not like a single player can change a team. Yeah. Yeah. Um but yeah, that’s that’s I guess this is the podcast, right? Um talked about the what’s going on. Um who we want to see in the draft, a little bit of the NBA playing. So any kind of final words, anything you want to say out there? Um, this is going to probably be the second last podcast and we’ll do one after the draft and then yeah, we’re done for the season. Yeah, man. Um, I just want to say these playoffs have been amazing. Yeah. Um, I’m not listening to anything that Aaron Gordon says about having the game stretched out more. You know what I’m saying? Um, Earl, go to bed, get some sleep. Y’all got trainer. You have the best medical staff in the history of sports. whatever you know, whatever y’all have. Y’all have the best sneakers, the best technology, y’all got cryotherapy chambers at your disposal. I don’t want to hear anything about you not wanting back to uh sorry, games every other day. This has been the most entertaining playoffs, even though I missed a few games that I’ve seen in a long time. It has been every single round. The first Well, the first round in the East was bad, but like every single Those teams are trash. I mean, and the playin, they could have skipped that. They could have put that on, you know, uh, can we please put, can we have the playin go to the seventh seed makes the play makes the playoffs? Yeah. Eighth seed, ninth and 10th, nine and 10 play, and then for one game, and then nine and nine and whoever else, and that’s it because that would be a little entertaining. Listen, I don’t want to see Atlanta or these other building teams in another play, man. Enough. Enough. Okay, enough. That was terrible. That was really bad. But, um, it’s been a great playoff so far. And also, we’re getting a new championship. Our champions, sorry. Yep. So, I’m excited about that. Um, new era in basketball, you know. I like the fact that the young the like the the players that are we want to be the face of the league. Yes. Like Shay and and Anthony Edwards. Yep. Um it’s too bad Boston didn’t make it in, but Jaylen Brunson is starting to become might be the face of the league at one point and then it’s in a big market and he’s a big time player. So, you know, I I really want to see the Knicks make the finals. It’s just going to be good for the league, you know, and it would be I want I want competition, man. This is what we’ve been begging for forever. We need competition in this league, you know? I’m tired of like we already have the draft. That’s uh sorry, the draft lottery. That’s a joke. Um, you know, players switching teams to big markets. We get it. But I’m happy for like a team like OKC, a team like Indiana, you know, who are not major markets, you know, in Minnesota, you know, being relevant again. You know, ever since um Minnesota’s made it, we haven’t heard anything about no small market, nothing. Yeah. You need good players on these on these teams. You do. You do. And excited, man. Excited. Yeah. I’m excited. This this playoffs has been very interesting. I don’t know what the ratings are. Um I think you know the league is kind of scared about I was going to say I think they’re not going to put it up because their major markets are not invested. Yeah. Right. The LA’s the But that’s not fair. I And I think I think the ratings I think the ratings is again overrated in a sense because I think people consume basketball in different ways and they’ve got to change. Well, guess what, Andre? If we were to count ratings the way they’re supposed to be counted, the 2019 finals will be the highest rated um finals of all time. So, let’s not even go there. But yes, um yes, this league is, you know, it’s the league we love. Unfortunately, it has its uh its ups and downs, but Oh, question for you before we move on. Are you excited for next season’s um NBA coverage with all these new uh Oh, bro. Who Who do I see? There’s Durk. There’s Vince. Um Nash is going to be there. MJ MJ, bro. Who to talk about? You know, bro, next show. Next show. I’m not I was never a fan of Kobe, but do you remember those Kobe videos that he used to do? Breaking, man. I love that, bro. Um, that was perfect. It’s going to be interesting. And I think it’s going to change. It’s bringing in a new era. Hopefully, you know, Amazon hoping that Apple TV would have got some of those things and start doing that, too. But it’s it’s going to be interesting. Very interesting. For sure. For sure. I’m excited, man. I I I like this NBA and NBC’s back. You know what I mean? Like all these things are are You just need to get uh the Shaq and Chuck needs to retire and move on some N never. They’re going No, but you can’t continually like disrespect these players, bro. Of course you can. What do you mean? Yeah, but entertaining to you guys like disrespect these guys. I tell you this, the NFL would never do that. You know, this is why the NBA is the greatest show on TV, bro. It’s all about the drama. Oh my gosh. Anyways, yeah. So, anyways, thank you guys for watching. Man gets paid. Um, thank you for watching YouTube. Yes. Check us out on YouTube. Check us check out the the Oh my gosh, what’s your podcast called again?
