Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws. Now, when you’re as good a passer and score as SGA, you’ll get defenders to bite like that. These are his first free throws of the game. [Applause] That free throw good from Gilgis Alexander. The skills of SGA, they’re so unique. His ball handling, shooting, length. Not a lot of guys like Shay in the league. [Applause] Both free throws good from Gilas Alexander. I’m sure they don’t want to send him to the line. That has to be in their scouting report. Connley against Gilas Alexander. Connley passes to [Applause] Randall. Goar with a screen on Homegrren. Fires from deep. Randle can’t hit. First minute and a half of basketball played here in this one. Pass to Gildas Alexander from outside the ark. It’s rebounded by Minnesota. And keeping us updated from the sideline, Alli Leort. I had a chance to catch up with Mark Yagnel. I asked him about Julius Randle and why he’s so hard to stop. Coach said it’s the ball handling, the spin moves, and the ability to finish against length. They want to try to force him right and take him out of his rhythm. something many teams have tried but few have accomplished guys. Thanks for that. Ally Dort the pass to Gilis Alexander McDaniels with the rebound. I think this is a rare case of being overcommitted. Yeah, they’ve been pretty careless so far, racking up a number of fouls in very little time. So, it’s Oklahoma City now. Williams finds Gil Alexander. Man, a foul called on the way up. So, he’ll take two from the free throw line. I love when Gilas Alexander looks to score because it forces the defense to act. And he’ll take his third and fourth free throws of the night. How about the anticipation right there that led to the steal, then he goes straight to the bucket, turning great defense into great offense. That’s the kind of stop you’re looking for. Thunder leading by three. [Music] And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the points. All right, guys. Let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown for the Thunder. Well, they’re playing with great pace, pushing the ball up the floor and attacking before the defense can get set. And also, their pressure defense is paying dividends tonight, turning them over and getting out in the open floor and running. [Applause] And that one misses. He hits the second from the line. And so it’s Edwards who brings up the ball for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Trailing by four, shoots over Caruso. Oh, he nails that one. Three for four now. After this break, we’ll be back with the start of the second quarter on 2K Sports. [Applause] And time for us to get back into it here in game one. All right, guys. What do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Minnesota? Well, the coaching staff’s game plan is very clear. Move the ball on the perimeter and shoot the shots with no hesitation. Another thing they’re doing well early on is moving the ball, playing selfless basketball and getting everybody involved on the offensive end. Some serious height in the middle. Homegrren the four, Hardenstein the five. Shay Gilis Alexander is out there with Kase Wallace and it’s Williams in at the three. That’s the lineup for Oklahoma City. Just five to shoot. Wallace the pass to Gilas Alexander. Great touch from deep Gilgis Alexander. Yeah, total focus from Shay there. Ready to go off the feed [Applause] outside. They set the pick. Pass to Randle. The three and again it’s Minnesota with a three. And both teams running long range plays that are working well. You know it’s become a three-point shooting league. Teams shooting a steady diet from outside. Here’s Hardenstein. [Applause] Here’s Williams. A strong finish under heavy pressure from the D. Williams has got his second bucket on the night. [Applause] Gil just Alexander against Connley. Pass to Randall. [Applause] Oh, he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. It’s on Isaiah Hartenstein inside. You have to try something to stop Randall, but he gets physical right back and draws a good shooting foul. He’s gone two for two at the line so far. [Applause] [Applause] That free throw no good. And he’s good on the second. [Applause] Oklahoma City shooting 53%. Good efficiency on offense so far. Cardinstein a screen. Williams with it. And it’s Goar picking him up. Oh, the Thunder tack on two more. And the vision is far past his years. Williams with great decision making. Pass to Randle and that one goes in as he’s fouled. Connley is also adept at finding real estate close to the rim. Gil just Alexander against Enenzo. Pass to Homegrren. Shoots over Randall. Look at Chad using his size inside. He’s been a steady presence for them. Nice to have that kind of safety net at the offensive end. Now here’s Goar. Blocked. Now here’s Homegrren. 13 points in the game. Pass to Williams. Lets it fly from 18. Gets rebounded by Minnesota. They’ve been having major problems offensively. Definitely in a bit of a dry spell. Now here’s Randall. Just Alexander defending down low. I mean Williams has the bulk to win those tough battles inside for three. Randall Homegrren with the block. And it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Holgrren. And that shot was going nowhere thanks to that aggressive swap. Oh, you could feel the playoff intensity in that block. He’s playing some extra aggressive defense out [Applause] there for three. Randall with [Applause] it. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. And over the years, Randall has stepped up his role. An assertive scoreer and a natural leader. Well, he shot well from the line tonight going four or five. [Applause] [Applause] And he drops a first. Williams has checked in for Oklahoma City. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Edwards has checked in. And Randall drops them both. I like how he’s upped his aggressiveness here. Finding ways to get to the line in this second quarter. Williams passes to Dort. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. They’ll pin that one on Julius Randall. I like whenever Homegrren uses his length to his advantage. That way, guys can absorb it and go out and execute. [Applause] And it’s Caruso with the ball for the Thunder. Three-point lead. [Applause] Six on the shot clock and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Such a great leaper. Caruso is top to stop in the paint. It’s his first trip to the line. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. Well, just a great guy to have in the rotation. Caruso gives you effort. He gives you shooting and the ball rarely sticks in his hands. He keeps it moving. [Applause] And Caruso drops them both. Timberwolves trail by five. Denzo pass to Randall. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. So close on the finish. Julius Randall has been sensational through the first two quarters. He’s been on fire. Explosive offensive performance. Yeah. And in terms of slowing him down, I think they’re going to have to change things up, give him some different looks. Kicking off the second half, here’s Chris Finch’s five and is at the two with McDaniels playing the three. Julius Randall out there with Rudy Goar and it’s Connley in at the point. That one no good. Thunder leading by four now. Gilchis Alexander. 14 points for him. And looks like an illegal pick was set. That gets the ref’s attention. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. Look, you can get away with a lot in terms of screens today, but you can’t make it that obvious. Devenenzo. The pass to Edwards. Shoots over Caruso. Shot is good by Edwards. Edwards has got eight points here in the quarter. Well, what a quarter he’s had. You can tell he’s in the flow. They should be looking for him every possession. [Applause] Gil just Alexander against Enenzo. And Gil just Alexander missing. The battle of the boards has been something to watch. Edwards against Caruso for the lead. And it’s Homegrren with a rebound. Homer’s got four rebounds now. Williams passes to [Applause] Caruso. Here’s Edwards. He’s got 22. Randle. A screen on Caruso on the wing. Alexander Walker. Pass to Randall. Got a piece of it. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. Yeah, I get it. But you don’t want him forcing things. It’s better to get your shots within the flow of the offense. Here’s Wallace. The Thunder with another miss. The Timberwolves trail outside Debenzo. Here’s Reed. Ooh, can’t tie it up as that one’s no good. And so it’s Gilis Alexander with it. He brings it up for the Thunder. Here’s Williams. That one’s good. And so Gilis Alexander with the assist. Gilas Alexander’s got four assists now tonight. [Applause] A minute 20 left in the third quarter. Here’s Randall, the Thunder with the rebound. Homegrren’s got rebound number five here tonight. They need his offense right now, but his shot is just not fall. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] four. Pass to Edwards. outside. Gilis Alexander. Now Williams red defending back to Williams. Six to shoot. There’s a screen. Oklahoma City’s got to hurry. They got to get up a shot. And it’s out of bounds to the Thunder as Oklahoma City retains possession. The Timberwolves making a switch here. McDaniels checked in. And we’ve got 28 seconds left in the third quarter. Timberwolves trail by four. Here’s Alexander Walker. Cans it from short range. Alexander Walker’s got his first two points of the night. The Thunder have gone 50% from the field in the third quarter, eight of 16. McDaniels against Gilg Alexander. Pass to Homegrren. Now Williams back to Homegrren. One second left and it’s good. But hang on here. The officials may want to take a look at it on the replay monitor. Well, we thought the third quarter was over. The previous play is under immediate. They’re trying to see if he released the ball before the buzzer or not. And the video is going to be sent to the officials from the replay center in Sukakus. It looked like he got it off in time, though. After the review, the ruling on the floor is overturned. And after reviewing the play, it looks like they’re overturning the call here. That basket is good. It would have been a real shame if those points didn’t count. I’m so glad the officials were able to take a second look and make the right call. And that’ll do it for the third quarter. Oklahoma City ahead up by four. And don’t go away. We’ll be back in a few moments. It’ll be the fourth quarter of basketball coming up next. And while we have a chance, let’s go to our State Farm assist of the game. Woo! I’m fired up to see this dish one more time. It’s always great to see your two guards share the wealth. Yeah, and if you have both guards dishing like that and putting up points, wow, a coach’s dream. Three tense quarters behind us. One more to go. Thanks for being with us as we get ready for the fourth. Jordan Homegrren. A lot of defense at the three and the four for him. Jason Wallace out there with Shay Gilis Alexander and it’s Hartinstein in at the pivot spot manning the middle. That’s the lineup out there for the Thunder. Don’t judge Homegrren by his size. He does have a passing skill set finding shooters and getting them the ball. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] six. Outside Conlin left side read. Here’s McDaniels from the left block. He sends it through. A very tenacious player. McDaniels doesn’t allow the contact to disrupt his shot. Pass to Homegrren. Back to Gilgis Alexander over McDaniels. Second shot opportunity and Gobear with a block. So good at finding these rejections. Gobear has all the physical tools and razor sharp reflexes as a defender. And that’s how you defend. He wasn’t showing any mercy with that swap. Yeah, this is the elevated energy level you expect in the postseason. Chasing down blocks and making an impact. Here’s Homegrren. Hits the front of the rim and out. Timberwolves trail by four. Pass to McDaniel and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. Homegrren. And so he’s picked up his final foul and he’ll set the rest of this one out. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. The Thunder making a switch here. Williams has checked in. The first one falls. And we’ve seen some good free throw shooting in the second half. [Applause] [Applause] That one misses. So he goes one for two. Oklahoma City leading by three. Here’s Wallace. It counts. And the foul. It goes on Mike Connley. Oh, what tremendous focus to absorb the contact and find a way there to finish. [Applause] [Applause] And so Connelly will bring it up for Minnesota. They trail by six. Pass to Reed. Final quarter of play. About a minute and a half off the clock. To the inside. Go. And Go with the stuff. Well, Gobear understands how to capitalize off these sets. Great movement by him after setting the screen. Gilg Alexander finds Dort Hartenstein with a screen on Conway. Dort shot is good. And when it comes to the three, they’ve been really dialed in here in the second half. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] seven. Two minutes gone by here in the fourth. Outside read. Here’s the three. Williams grabs the board. Well, the defense got lucky there. More often than not, he’s making that shot. Lets it go from deep. And that comes off the assist by Gilis Alexander. Gilis Alexander’s got his fifth assist in this one. Gilis Alexander against Conway. And they call an illegal screen here. One of the trickier plays to judge, but it would be hard to argue against the call. Yeah, and that’s maybe something that should be called more. We see a lot of moving screens in today’s NBA. Anthony Edwards just checked in for Alexander Walker. Gilis Alexander passes to Wallace. Now [Applause] Dort Wallace outside. [Applause] Just five to shoot. Outside for Dort. Three-pointer. Rudy Goar with a rebound. Timberwolves trail by 10. McDaniels finds Edwards. Fires the three. Oh, Edwards. Money on the triple. Well, already an improvement for him from beyond the arc in this half. Outside Williams pass the Dort. Gilis Alexander with the ball. McDaniels covering. Gilas Alexander passes to Hartinstein and Gilg Alexander gets it to go on the assist from Hartinstein. And Minnesota with possession here. Nine-point game. Reed with it. [Music] Here’s Edwards again. The Timberwolves score. And right there, Edwards with a great dribble move to create space. [Applause] And here’s Gilas Alexander from downtown. It’s rebounded by Rudy Goar. Go’s got six rebounds in the game. Well, and after making just one triple going into the break, he’s still looking for his first make from distance here in the second half. And this is just typical of him. Always making an impact at crucial moments in the game. Well, you know, this is when they lean on him and he delivers with a much needed score. Timberwolves trail by five. [Applause] Solid defense from Williams. Oklahoma City has gone two of four from the perimeter here in the fourth quarter. Williams on the [Applause] wing. Hardshine in the post. McDaniels. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. But man, the defender really went after him. [Applause] Got to get it. And that one falls for Hardenstein. It’s both from the Strike. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] seven. Edwards looking it over. [Music] Anthony Edwards takes the contact. Yeah, despite them being behind, he’s been impressive, but he can’t do it all by himself. Gil just Alexander against McDaniels. He shoots it. No problem on the jumper in close. Gil just Alexander’s got nine points here in the second half. Minnesota has gone one or two from deep in this corner outside Reed. Conway finds Goar outside. McDaniels down to five on the shot clock for three. Connley the Thunder with the rebound. They’ve led by as much as 10. Connley against Dort. Wallace outside, fires the three, buries it from three, and it’s a 10-point Oklahoma City lead. Yeah, an amazing find. How about the patience from Dor waits for his man to get open and [Applause] feas against Dor. Pass to Reed. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Hardenstein’s got rebound number 17, if you can believe that, with the step back. Williams passes to Gilus Alexander. Williams against [Applause] Edwards. Williams up top. He can’t get that one to fall. Some solid defense from Edwards. And so it’s Connley who brings up the ball for Minnesota. trailing by [Applause] 10. Pass to Reed. Back to [Applause] Connley. And here’s McDaniels with the teardrop. Good work defensively by Hartinstein. Now Wallace. Now here’s Gilis Alexander. McDaniels covering. There’s that man. Gilas Alexander. So tough to contend with his quickness. That free throw good from Gilgis Alexander Caruso. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Randall, he’s checked in for the Timberwolves. [Music] Both free throws good from Gilas Alexander. Timberwolves trail by 12. Go. Randall outside and count that. Two points and a chance for one more at the line. Superior strength on display. Randall just refusing to let the defense slow him down there. [Applause] [Applause] And the free throw no good. Oklahoma City leading by 10. Wallace outside. Pass to Gildas Alexander. [Applause] Gilous Alexander. Double team and out of bounds. Minnesota will have it. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] 10 outside. Edwards. Breeze sets a screen. Matt Breeze off the mark. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. [Applause] Wallace left side on the wing. Caruso checked by Randle. Caruso with the bucket and the Thunder lead by 12. Well, if he’s got a look, Caruso’s going for it. No slowing down. [Applause] Williams against McDaniels. down low and stolen by Caruso inside. Here’s Williams and Williams punches it home. Yeah, the guard instincts of Gilas Alexander. I mean, fantastic work dishing the rock to uncover teammates outside Edwards and he rebounds again. Beasting on the boards. He is having his way inside and he’s nearing the franchise record for rebounds in a playoff game. Good play call and good execution. The offense running on all cylinders and the Timberwolves with possession here. It’s a 16-point game. Connley passes to Randall. Reed for three. Hook it. And it’s Randall with the assist. Well, he’s been more confident shooting it since the half. Let’s see if that trend continues. Thunder leading by 13. Gilas Alexander with a ball. Williams with the screen. 43 Jay Gilis Alexander. That one’s good. Gilas Alexander’s got 14 points now in the second half. Timberwolves trail by 16. And Chris Finch calls timeout here. He’s looking to make some very important adjustments here. Jaylen Williams really making a difference here. They really need to reshape their defense. They have to get out to him quicker to slow his three-point attack. All right, time now to present our New Balance Player of the Game, Jaylen Williams. He has truly put on a show out there tonight, tearing it up on both ends of the floor. So impressive. and the other squad has looked helpless to stop him. Man, he was really impressive in that win. Setting the tone right from the start, taking this one by storm. McDaniels can’t hit. Oklahoma City has gone four of six from deep thus far in the fourth. Back to Gilis [Applause] Alexander. Dor against Connley. That shot no good. McDaniels with some nice D outside. [Applause] Connley. Gilgis Alexander against McDaniels to the left side wing. Randall against Caruso. Just five on the clock. 14 ft away and he gets the bucket. Randle’s got four points now in the quarter. And yeah, Randall is absolutely a threat from in between. Something the D has to recognize and adjust accordingly. Gil just Alexander up top. McDaniels [Applause] covering McDaniels against Gilas Alexander. And you can count it. He’ll go to the line with a chance at a three-point play. And they got to be happy with how they are starting off these conference finals. A tone setting win for the Thunder. I was really impressed with their attitude today, Grant. Competitive game. They battled through every step of the way. NBA, can you say big time effort and energy? I mean, just a tremendous performance. They were welld deserving of this win. And so they start the conference finals off on the right foot with an important win. They wanted to set the tone for the rest of the series here tonight. And mission accomplished. They get to move forward with all the momentum on their side. We’ve come to expect big time games from him. Just another day at the office for Jaylen Williams. Well, bottom line, he was just unstoppable at times. Not much you can do when he’s playing with that kind of confidence. So for Oklahoma City, Williams has checked in for Hartinstein. Wiggins comes in for Williams and Joe subbed in for Shay Gilis Alexander. Pass to Wiggins. Here’s Joe. Now here’s Dort Wiggins with a screen on Connley to the paint and he takes the feed in stride and slams it home. This is what winning is all about. Playing your best when it matters most. Yeah, they’ve got clutch guys on this team and they never let up. Connelly passes to Devincenzo. Now here’s Randall. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. No need to shoot. This one is done. Yes, they’ve got to be happy with tonight’s effort. Now, here’s Caruso covered by Alexander Walker. And so it’s the Thunder taking care of business in this one. And it always takes a lot of pressure off a team when they get the win in game one. It’s the most important game of the series. They’ve shown they know how to beat this team. The formula’s in place. Now they just have to stick with it for the next few games. That concludes this broadcast of the Western Conference Finals. Alongside Stan Van Gundy, Grant Hill, and Ally Leforce, this is Brian Anderson saying thanks for tuning in to the NBA on 2K Sports. And as we leave you, here’s a look at our player of the game, Jaylen Williams.
