call me crazy. This move right here, it might have saved the NBA. Now, to be clear for any non-W Warriors fan watching this team was torture. I mean, they were just too good at basketball. So, Adam Silver saw this and he’s like, “We’re gonna make it impossible to form this type of team. We’re going to make it impossible to form a team that’s so good that they can’t be beat. We’re going to basically ban super teams.” So, the NBA literally changed the CBA deal to prevent super teams from happening. And the thing is, it’s worked. In the last 7 years, there’s been more parody. There’s been less super teams. I mean, in the last 7 years, we haven’t had a single repeat champion. That’s the first time in NBA history that’s ever happened. And just think about how quickly championship windows close now. I mean, literally a week ago, everyone thought, “Oh my god, the Celtics can win the championship. They can form a dynasty. They have a great team, great starting five.” Literally, after one game, game four, the Tatum injury, their whole dynasty, their whole super team, their whole roster, it’s over. Because of the Tatum injury, the luxury tax, all that other stuff, we will never see the Celtics team again. Whereas in the 80s, the ‘9s, the 2000s, even the 2010s, if you had a team that won a championship and then they lost the next year, usually they wouldn’t split apart. You’d still have them. There are still super teams, they just don't work out well. The lakers had ad, james, and Westbrook, the clippers had PG, Harden & kawhi not too long ago😂
If surviving on ad revenue and not viewership is saving a league then sure i guess it worked.
