2025 NBA Draft Heat Mock Picks Breakdown | Top Prospects & Best Fits for Miami Heat #NBAHeat
The 2025 NBA draft is just weeks away with the first round set for June 25th. The Miami Heat hold the 20th overall pick this year acquired from the Golden State Warriors as part of the Jimmy Butler trade. Since Miami made the playoffs this season, they don’t have a lottery pick, but there are still promising prospects who could be available at number 20 that might fit the team’s needs. After the lottery on May 12th, several respected analysts released their mock drafts, each suggesting different players the Heat might select. Notably, five mock stand out featuring different names for Miami’s pick. Liam McNeely, guard or a forward from Yukon per ESPN. Noah Penda, forward from France, Yahoo. Will Riley, guard forward from Illinois, the Ringer. Ben Sarah, guard from Israel. Bleacher Report and Asa Newu forward center from Georgia No Ceilings NBA. Out of the five suggested picks, Asa Newu is my top choice. A versatile to forward center, New offers strong athleticism and solid two-way ability. Last season at Georgia, he averaged around 15 points and seven rebounds per game. He measured about 6′ 10 in to 6′ 11 in with shoes at the NBA combine with decent wingspan and a sturdy frame capable of holding his own physically. His jumper still needs work. He shot only 29% from three, but he shows flashes of floor spacing potential. New could be a valuable addition to Miami’s young front court behind players like Bame Abio and KJ Wear. Next is Ben Sarah, an Israeli guard who has previously been linked to Miami. Sarah is crafty with the ball, skilled in pick and roll situations, and a capable mid-range scorer reminiscent of Goran Dragic. He stands around 6’5 in with good length for a guard. The main questions are about his athleticism and defense, especially alongside a player like Tyler Harrow. Still, his skill set fits Miami’s need for a guard who can create and shoot. Liam McNeely from Yukon is an offball shooter with good size and rebounding ability, but he struggles creating for himself. His shooting is his strength, but Miami likely needs more versatile athletic wings rather than pure shooters. Noah Penda from France is a long versatile wing with strong defensive potential and playmaking instincts but inconsistent shooting and trouble finishing through contact. Lastly, Will Riley from Illinois is a versatile guard s forward with good offball movement and passing but lacks ideal size and strength for the next level. While each of these players has upside, I’m leaning toward other prospects outside this group for Miami’s 20th pick. The Heat’s options are broad, and with names like Rasher Fleming or Nick Clifford still possible, the pick could come down to who best fits Miami’s long-term vision. Fans hoping for a guard or an all-around two-way player should keep an eye on how this draft unfolds. Pat Riley and Adam Simon will have plenty to consider as draft night approaches.
