The Houston Rockets Are About To Become UNBEATABLE

sources have been telling me for for weeks now that the Celtics will be exploring trade options in the offseason. Uh th this team, this iteration just is not going to be sustainable for this team and and no one around the organization from players to staffers would be surprised if there are changes coming to this roster. So today we’re going to be looking at three potential trade targets for the Houston Rockets. All coming from the Boston Celtics. Shams reported a couple of weeks ago that the rest of the league is bracing for some level of change. Sources have been telling him that the Celtics will be exploring trade options this off season. They’re coming off of a brutal loss to the Knicks in six games where they just got flat out embarrassed. Like I get they were up 20 plus points in the first two games, but they collapsed. They got beat at home and now it seems like they’re going to break this up. So, some potential options for the Rockets would be Chris Asporzingis, Drew Holiday, what about Derek White? What about Jaylen Brown? Now, immediately Jaylen Brown came into my mind because of his two-way ability, but he’s making a ton of money and he can’t shoot the three. So, the Rockets, I’m not exactly sure how that fit would go with Brown and Shangun and also Fred Man Lee. I mean, I I personally just don’t think that would work. I don’t think that would win a championship. So, the Rockets should not make that move. But one player that does come to mind that I would super super like in Houston is Derek White because he does not have to touch the basketball to score 16 to 20 points a night. White shot the ball at a 38.5% clip from three in the playoffs. About the same in the regular season, 38.3. When looking at the Rockets roster, you don’t want to bring in someone who is going to demand the ball every single possession and just disturb the flow that they had going on. White would benefit off of playing with Jaylen Green and Alper and Shenun. He would just open up the floor because whoever is guarding Derek White is not going to overhelp because he’s guarding Derek White. He’s also not going to cost a ton. Like you look at his salary, he is currently making this season 28.1 million, which is a lot, but he’s certainly worth more than that because he’s an elite shooter and an elite defensive guard/wing. Next season that jumps up to 30.3 million. 2027-28 32.6 million. And then he’s got a player option which I’m pretty certain he’s going to go ahead and just, you know, pick that up. I mean, 34.8 million is a lot of money. But for the Rockets, I mean, this is just the perfect fit because what do they need right now? They need shooting. Derek White is one of the best shooters in the game. and to have a shooter that not only can shoot but can defend multiple positions. One of the better shot blocking guards in the league. Extremely consistent. One of the few Celtics to me that consistently showed up against the Knicks in the playoffs and who continue to fight. I could see him visibly frustrated in game six throwing the ball of course off of the backboard during a timeout. I mean he was pissed off that the Celtics did not come to play. I think he’d be perfect in Houston. Like I can’t think of more of a perfect fit than Derek White for the Rockets too, just given the fact of he does everything they need. He’s not making like the most money in the world and he’s not going to cost that much. You’re not giving up Jaylen Green or Jabari Smith or Shangun to go get him like you would a Giannis and Denno or a Jaylen Brown. Now, next up on my list, Drew Holidayiday. One of my favorite players in the league. Always been underrated. 34 years of age, which doesn’t exactly fit in with his timeline, but again, he’s a role player. He’s a great defender. What, three-time AllNBA defense, can knock down the shot. Look at the playoffs. In the two rounds he played in, he shot it at 34.6%. Um, a little bit higher in the regular season, 35.3. I mean, Drew, it’s about right. It’s it’s about right. Numbers don’t lie. And Drew Holiday, I mean, he’s just kind of an average shooter, but his defense and his IQ would fit in well off of the Rockets bench. I don’t think he would come in and start because again, they already have Fred, they already have Jaylen Green, but if there’s any way where, of course, you get like a Derek White or you get a Jaylen Brown and then you get Drew Holiday in there as well. I mean, that would be a huge upgrade. I don’t know how salary would work to be honest. We’ll take a look. Drew Holiday contract. He’s going to be making a good chunk of change. Yeah. I mean, four year 134 million. So, this season 32.4 million. Next season 34.8. Yeah. I mean, I would like Drew on the Rockets, but for that money, not not the case. Cuz again, he just can’t really shoot. He’s like an average shooter. Rockets just don’t need another player like that. Um, if Drew was on like a one-year $15 million contract and he was going in with a Derek White or again a Jaylen Brown, I mean, I would be all over that. like sign me up. But I yeah, I don’t I don’t think Drew is is very realistic if I’m being honest. Unless Fred is leaving and you want to bring in Drew, but I just flat out would rather have Fred than Drew Holiday. I love the defense of Drew, but um I just, you know, Fred just to me gives you a little bit more than Drew Holiday if I’m being completely honest. And then taking a look at it would be Jaylen Brown. He’s going to be the last guy on the list. When I think of Jaylen Brown, he would fit so well with the Rockets because of his two-way ability. He’s played in a ton of playoff games in big moments. He stepped up. He’s fierce. He’s competitive. He just gets after you. He’s a winner. Jaylen Brown would be awesome in Houston. The problem is that he can’t shoot and he’s expense. It’s kind of the same thing with Drew Holidayiday. He’s just expensive and can’t shoot. The Rockets can’t afford to be bringing in more guys that can’t shoot. But the biggest thing is his contract. Like I I really do respect Jaylen Brown a lot as a competitor, but I mean like look at this contract, guys. I mean, he’s this season 53 million, next season 57 million, 61 million, 64 million the next two years. Like, that that’s just not going to cut it. I legitimately would rather have Jaylen Green than I would Jaylen Brown in the sense of value of contract. I mean, you can’t really judge Green off of his first playoff appearance because we’ve seen some of the all-time greats like Michael Jordan kind of struggle um early on in their playoff career and then get it going. I’m not saying Jaylen Green is gonna be Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant in their first playoffs, but I think he’s got a lot of potential. And if you’re going to trade Jaylen Green, you just you have to be getting a superstar. You got to be getting a Giannis. Um maybe even a Kevin Durant who’s a little bit on the older side. But like I could justify trading Jaylen Green for Kevin Durant because he can shoot and he can play off ball and can rebound, can block. I mean Durant does literally everything the Rockets need, but Jaylen Brown not exactly the case. So, um, I know the Warriors have been linked to Derek White. Many other contenders are going to be linked to Derek White. The Rockets can get their hands on him, they have to make a move. I’m very curious to see how other Rockets fans are going to feel about this. I haven’t seen any videos bringing this up, but given the fact that Shams reported that the Celtics are expected to make changes. Of course, uh, just to read you guys a tweet one more time, the rest of the league is bracing for some level of change. So Derek White and Houston would be absolutely phenomenal. What they would give up, what draft picks, what players, I don’t know. That’s for Raphael Stone to decide. But in terms of just the overall fit, having a two-way guardwing that can spot up from anywhere on the court that can play off of Green Shenon Men Thompson, who I haven’t even mentioned. I mean, you talk about how do I elevate in Men Thompson’s game, put Derek White in one of the corners and make sure that his man is not going to be able to help. And it’s just going to open up the floor for the Rockets. I didn’t think the spacing, the ball movement was the greatest against the Warriors in the playoffs. I think it’s very easy to see why the Rockets lost to the Warriors. Now, if Jaylen Green had just shown up there, it would have been a pretty quick series. It would not have gone seven games again. It probably would have gone like five five games if Jaylen Green had just shown up and given the Rockets 25 and like 47%. But he didn’t show up.
