Raptors Interested In Derik Queen & Colin Murray-Boyles! Linked To Jeremiah Fears?
[Music] What’s up basketball fans? Welcome to the Ratch Report. It is time to talk about the Toronto Raptors because they have already started to look at a bunch of potential draft candidates at the ninth spot. I will be discussing the three names that have been linked to the Toronto Raptors thus far. So, if you’re ready to watch this video, make sure to give it a thumbs up and if you wish to hit the subscribe button as well, that’d be very much appreciated. So, with that being said, let’s get into today’s video. All right, so let’s start with our first potential draft candidate for the Toronto Raptor. was being reported on Twitter by Josh Robbins, the University of Maryland’s Derek Queen, which has been a very uh you know famous name and well-known name amongst Raptors fans and uh you know with potentially being a draft candidate at the nine spot said he’s interviewed with the Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, and the Utah Jazz here at the draft combine. At the combine, NBA official scheduled meetings between prospects and teams. So, who is Derek Queen? Let’s quickly go through his measurements at the draft combine. He measured in I I do want to see all these measurements are barefoot. So do keep in mind about wood shoes adds about another inch or so to their height. So without height, Derek Queen measured at 6’9 in weighed at 247.9 lb. Wingspan was about 7T. Standing reach as you see there, 9’1 and 1/2 in. He’s also only 20 years old and he plays a center position. So for those that aren’t familiar with Derek Queen, who is he? Well, he’s someone that can give you, you know, a lot of buckets. Of course, he’s also someone that passes the ball tremendously well for someone, you know, given his position, and that could be a surplus given the way that, you know, a lot of centers in today’s NBA are able to pass the ball and just given the Raptor system as well as what they like to do. They don’t like too much isolation scoring. We know that. So, Derek Queen could definitely be a fascinating choice for the Toronto Raptors. Again, these aren’t I do want to repeatedly say this, all of these players I’m talking about aren’t my personal favorites or the ones that I would necessarily like at the nine spot. These are just the ones that the Toron Raptors have interviewed thus far. So, again, just to go back to uh someone like Derrick Queen, very interesting. Obviously, he’s a little bit undersized to be the center position. And the discussion with a lot of fan bases and even a lot of scouts around Derrick Queen’s um potential fit in the NBA has been that he’s more suited for the power forward position at the NBA level. The main issue with Derrick Queen is that he is not able to space the floor. Look, can he hit his odd one or two three-pointer shots here and there? Absolutely he can. But that is not a strong point of his game. Uh so for someone like Derek Queen, look, he’s good in isolation. He can use his weight and size. You know, even though he’s not the tallest of players, he knows how to use his body really well to score and uh kind of just go isolation, you know, in terms of scoring. But the big question does become obviously his size cuz he’s not big enough or great enough on the defensive side and definitely not a good enough shot blocker to play the center position and also he’s not very athletic either. So again playing him at the center position can cause a lot of problems for a lot of NBA teams because the question becomes you know if he can’t shop he can’t be a great shot blocker at the NBA level he doesn’t possess the height or the athleticism and now you’re saying that he can’t shoot the three-point ball either. all of a sudden his fit with a lot of NBA teams becomes a big question mark, right? Because for someone like Derek Queen, you know, for him to play the power forward position at the NBA level and not be able to shoot the three-point shot is going to be really difficult cuz all of a sudden when you have your roster construction, you’re going to have your center shooting the three just to kind of open up that floor a little bit. Now, in terms of his fit with the Toronto Raptors, I’m going to be very blunt and honest with you guys. I know a lot of people like Derek Queen. I do not. I don’t like him at the ninth position, especially in this year’s NBA draft where there’s a lot of weaknesses the Raptors can fill. And yes, they definitely do need some more depth at the forward power forward position as well. But someone like Derrick Queen is not the right selection personally if you ask me. Now, why do I say this? For one simple reason only. Derrick Queen is someone that is actually a lot more NBA ready than a lot of different prospects. But given the Raptor situation, they’re not moving off of Scotty Barnes anytime soon unless it’s for Giannis or unless it’s for another superstar player. So, they’re not moving off of Scotty Barnes. And we know Scotty’s going to play 30, 35 minutes a game. So, where does that leave the minutes? Where does that leave, you know, in terms of the fit for someone like Derek Queen? Are you going to force someone like Scotty Barnes to play the, you know, small forward position? That’s kind of playing him out of position as well. And just given Derrick Queen, again, like I said, Derrick Queen is a type of player that isn’t going to need a lot of development. I think he’s ready to contribute at the NBA level for particularly for the Toronto Raptors. it becomes an odd fit because if you’re playing him, Scotty Barnes together, it would have been okay if the center was able to shoot the three. But for a Raptors team that has Yaka Purle who doesn’t space the floor for Scotty Barnes, you need floor spaces around him as well, right? So bringing in Derek Queen, who should be playing 20 minutes easily, um it’s going to be hard to find the minutes and the touches again. So again, I understand the um I understand why the Raptors could be interested in him. His ball movement is great for someone his size. But all of a sudden, I mean, given his weaknesses, it leaves more questions than answers, you know, for someone like Derek Queen, particularly on the Toronto Raptor. So, I’m not a big fan of Derrick Queen. Let’s move on to player number two here, that the Raptors have interviewed as well. Now, it’s also being reported by Lan Osman on Twitter, shout out to him, that South Carolina’s Colin Murray Bole says he had interviewed with the Toronto Raptors at the NBA draft combine. And he went on to state young roster rebuilding. Just got Brandon Ingram. Great core, great group of guys. They’re tough, switchable. They’re everything I feel I can fit into. And again to go into his measurements real quick here as you guys see here without shoes. Colinary Boils measures at 6′ 6 1/2 in. Weighs about 239.2 lb. He has a wingspan of 7′ 3/4 in. Um standing reach of 8t 10 1/2 in and he’s only only 19 years old and plays a forward position. So who is Colin Murray Boils and how would he fit in with the Raptors? Well, let’s talk about some of his strengths. You know, Colin Murray Boils is a great defensive player and uh you know, he’s someone that can really stay with their man and he may not be the most athletic player at his position and his size, but he is someone that does a great job defensively. He’s someone that does a tremendous job of staying with his man. He uses his hands really well on the defensive side, gets a lot of steals, um gets a lot of deflections as well. Now, you’re probably thinking, “This sounds like a very good fit with the Toronto Raptors, right? The only issue here is not exactly. I don’t want to compare him to Derek Quinn. The issue for Colin Murray Boils, if you have been keeping up with the draft combine, is he does not shoot the three at all. In fact, at the shooting drill on the three-point line, the first shot he took was an airball. Now, I know you’re thinking, “That’s okay. Players are allowed to miss.” But I countered the amount of shots he made to the amount of shots he took. Just in that clip alone that went viral on Twitter, he made three of 15 shots. Again, I didn’t see the entire club, but three or 15 is not good, especially given his size. Again, I want to quickly go back. I mean, without shoes, he measures in at 6′ 6 and 1/2 in. So, with shoes, he’s about 67 68. And similarly with Colin Murray Boils, he has some of the weaknesses, some weaknesses, not the same ones as Derek Queen. Uh Colin Murray Boils isn’t super athletic. He’s not going to go in there and, you know, absolutely go in for some big dunks. Even though he has great defensive IQ, he’s a great defensive player. Uh there’s some questions about his shooting at the NBA level, right? He can’t shoot threes and you really have to question how he’s going to fit in with the Ton Raptors. Again, he’s not the fastest of players. He’s a little bit slow to be playing at the small forward position. Could he play it? I wouldn’t doubt it, but he’s not the fastest of players. So, again, you kind of play him at the power forward position. He’s listed as a forward. Um, so again, it’s it’s a real questionable fit if you ask me from the Toronto Raptors point of view. You know, when we talk about players that could fit in the Raptor system or work on some of the weaknesses, there’s some certainly one area where he would fix that is the defensive side. But again, it becomes a question mark of where you playing him like what position are you playing him? He can’t play the center position. He’s too small. Ideally, it’ be the power forward position, but similarly, he can’t shoot really well at all. And that’s going to be the big question mark, right, for someone like Colin Murray Boils as well. So again, for all of the good he does on the defensive side, there’s a lot of question marks in terms of his shooting on the offensive side. And that even complicates things a lot for the Toronto Raptors at the forward position as well. Again, I think it’s a little bit different compared to Derek Queen cuz Colin Murray Boils is a really good defensive flare and he can guard power forwards as well and he’s actually very physically strong, you know, given his size. So that’s the one good thing about Colin Murray Boils. But just in total, when we talk about his team fit, guys, I’m not a Colin Murray Boils fan. I never was, I’m going to be honest. It just I don’t see how it fits with the Toronto Raptors. You know, people are going to say, “Well, you can definitely use him on the defensive side. There’s no doubt.” But just his inability to shoot, his inability to stretch the floor leaves a lot of question marks. Like this team, this team here, it’s one thing if you add Kaman Malawatch to a, you know, Toronto Raptor team, a 7 foot2 center and yeah, he can’t shoot the threes, but he can protect the rim. He’s a big body. He’s a physical presence, you know, that can come in there. With someone like Colin Murray Boils, it’s so different. we can’t afford to bring in a power forward that can’t stretch the floor, that can’t shoot really, really well. And again, it just leaves so much more question marks. Um, particularly, I want to keep repeating this, we need a lot of spacing around Scotty Barnes, and our center doesn’t shoot the threes as well. So, again, I don’t necessarily like to fit with Colin Murray Boils. I’d be a little bit disappointed, I’m not going to lie, if the Raptors were to choose Derek Queen or Colin Murray Boils at the ninth position. But with that being said, we do have an intriguing player at the ninth spot that we could be taking. And this is no other than Jeremiah Fears. So Jeremiah Fears, I absolutely love his game. And again, shout out to Leon Osman was reporting on Twitter. He asked Oklahoma’s Jeremiah Fears his thoughts on the Toronto Raptor. Toronto is great. I know they’re looking for some specific pieces in the draft and hopefully I’m able to work out for them. So although Jeremiah Fears isn’t someone the Toronto Raptors have worked out, it would not surprise me if they showed interest. Now I do want to say right off the bat, I do like Jeremiah Fears a lot. His game reminds me a lot of Campbell Walker. he’s able to break down defenses with his athleticism and the way he attacks the basket and just his speed as well. But again, let’s go through his measurements real quick here for you guys. So, Jeremiah Fears came in at, again, I do want to constantly repeat this. This is barefoot. So, with shoes, he adds another inch or two. Um, without shoes, he measured in at 6’2 1/2 in. Weighs around 179.6 lb. So, a little light. So, when I talk about Campbell Walker, it’s it’s similar to him, right? He he doesn’t weigh a lot, but that also allows him to be very quick on his feet and just attack the basket the way he’s able to. He has a wingspan, nice wingspan of 6’5 in. Has a standing reach of 8′ 2 and 1/2 in. Only 18 years old and plays the guard position. So for someone like Jeremiah Fears, again, I actually do like this fit with a Toronto Raptor team. I think he could do something that Emanuel Quickley can’t, which is attack the basket. He is a lot more athletic. He’s a lot more faster as well, and he can get points in a hurry. I think that’s a a plus of someone like Jeremiah Fears. He just when you watch Kemell Walker’s early days in the NBA, you know what he was capable of doing. And if I were to give you one player comparison, that is right there. You know, we are very familiar with Kemell Walker. Most of us Raptors fans got to see him in the playoffs against the Boston Celtics series. So, he’s someone that can attack the basket. He can score. He can also pass a little bit as well. and he can really run with the ball which you know if the Toronto Raptors want to play a little bit more transition basketball you’re seeing with a lot of NBA playoff teams that’s how they kind of start the game to you know really get their offense going Jeremiah Fears would be absolutely amazing to have at the backup position you know he’s listed at the guard but obviously ideally for someone that’s you know 6’2 63 um you don’t want to play him at the guard position it would be more suited to play him at the point guard position so again I do like Jeremiah fears the one weakness I will see of his is his three-point shooting I do see that coming around. However, I do see someone like Jeremiah Fierce working on that shot. He’s an extremely hard worker. And again, like I said, the Toronto Raptors team could always use more isolation scoring. Could always use a little bit more scoring. And I know I may be contradicting myself here because Derek Queen does that as well. But again, just given Derrick Queen’s position, I don’t think he would fit in whereas someone like Jeremiah Fierce does. I know a lot of people um you know may feel like we need to fill certain positions, but I would be absolutely okay if the Raptors filled in this roster with another point guard, guard, whatever you want to call Jeremiah Fears, he would be an excellent gift for the John Raptors. And honestly, if you ask me, an absolute steal at the ninth position because he’s projected to go a few spots before that. A lot of teams like the Brooklyn Nets, the Washington Wizards like him as well. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes two, three spots before the Toronto Raptors. But, if he’s available at the nine spot, I do like him. He’s not my favorite player. You know, I obviously have my favorites that I’ve highlighted in two previous draft videos, but um you know, he is someone I would be absolutely thrilled to have on the Toronto Raptors, but again, these are the three players that have been somewhat linked to the Toronto Raptors. Again, Jeremiah hasn’t worked with the Toron Raptors, but he very very well could be. You know, it would not surprise me one bit. But what are your thoughts overall on these potential prospects for the Toron Raptors? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. And again, guys, no trivia question for today. If you do want a shout out, let me know in the comment section below. And that will be it for today’s video. So, thank you so much for watching and I hope you guys have yourselves a great
I will be discussing the latest news and rumors surrounding the Toronto Raptors! The Raptors have already interviewed two draft prospects that they could draft with the 9th pick, Derik Queen and Colin Murray-Boyles. They are also being linked the Jeremiah Fears. I will be discussing each player in this video and talk about if they fit with the Raptors or not.

What are your thoughts on some of these prospects?
I always like your analysis, what do you think of Danny Wolf on the Raptors because all the weaknesses these guys have , I don't think Danny Wolf doesn't have? Would he be a good fit. I also wanted to know what you think the package would need to be for Giannis . Here is my thoughts Barnes or Barrett, Quickley, one of Walters, Dyck or Objagi , 2 first round pics and two first round pic swaps would that get it done ?
Pray Utah takes Knuppel over tre johnson or we can trade them ochai and #9 for #5. Utah takes home ochai and Knuppel instead of tre johnson??? Raptors get their choice of tre Johnson fears or queen. Pray unless u think Pelicans or nets would take Knuppel.
We need to trade for Walker Kessler, we need a young defensive Center already developed.
Derrick queen would be a disaster he is to one dimensional and way out of shape
How do you feel about asa Newell?
If Fears falls, interesting!
I want CMB, 7 foot wing span, the next Met World Peace, the new Draymond and Dillion Brooks 2.0 but better – guards-locks down defensively every position, can fill the bucket and sucks up rebounds.
I agree with your analysis. Not a fan of either Queen or CMB for the mentioned. I like Fears, but I don't think he'll be available at 9. Maluach would be my number 1, but again, availability could be an issue. So failing that, I would take Rasheer Fleming for a center / PF. he has an enormous wingspan, athleticism, and can shoot the 3. As an aside, I think. that Essengue, Demin, and Bryant are also intriguing players.
nice video
ittl be carter
Queen is the next Embid Talent is there but i see injuries comming
Queen of the bench is excellent
This is extremely misleading. The Raptors don't choose who they meet with, the NBA chooses interviews for players/teams at the combine. Who they interviewed means nothing
Where can we find these interviews?
Rasheer has the most experience being only 20 yo with a 7 foot 6 wingspan 2 way player stretch big, you cant teach 7 foot 6 wingspan i believe Rasheer has more up side then kon knuepple even tho kon is 1 year younger, I'm still undecided with #EgorDemin# & #RasheerFleming# but i wish we could get both guys here. If egor can shoot the way he did earlier this year i maybe pick egor since he's an enormous 6 foot 9 point guard.
You never draft based on your team's weakness or who would be a better fit, you always pick the best player available. There have been so many good players that team lost out on & dropped in draft because teams didn't think they would have been a "good fit".
