The New Orleans Pelicans Fanbase DERSERVES Playoff Basketball !!
It’s safe to say that the NBA playoffs has been must-see TV this year. And honestly, it’s a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing because you’re seeing great matchups. You’re seeing players create their own storylines, create their own path. But it’s been a curse for people that are fans of squaloring teams that are nowhere close to making the playoffs and knowing that your fan base is more than capable of giving people what they want to see. So, we going to break that down right now in the Pelican Scoop. Enjoy your Monday. Kick your feet up. But first, cue my music. This is the Pelican Scoop with Jordan Kitchens. Breaking down everything under the sun about your New Orleans Pelicans. Smash that like button. Leave a comment and subscribe to stay on top of your Pel’s content. Now, Running Point. Here’s Jordan. What is good, YouTube? Welcome back to another edition of the Pelican Scoop. I am your host with the most Jordan Kitchens. and further and further from most ladies and gentlemen. I might sound a little bit different right now. Um, great weekend. All right. You know, shout out to everybody that’s graduated from between high school, uh, college. You know, my my boy, uh, Derek Graham just became, well, just graduated from Howard Law School, so we had to go and do it big. Shout out my cousins. My cousin Tory graduated from Slidell. My other cousin Tayen, he didn’t graduated from Southeastern. So, just shout out to everybody that graduated. Welcome to the workforce, brother. Buckle up. It’s going to be a a little bumpy road, but you will get to your destination. So, further further, ladies and gentlemen, this this episode today is just about not making the playoffs, being the outsider looking in, watching all these other teams and all these other fan bases just in in a basic way to put it, just say live it up, right? From watching the Knicks games and the Garden just rocking and it just puts me in a sad position because New Orleans needs playoff basketball. New Orleans needs this. We need this more than anything. Like the Saints foreseeable future doesn’t look that bright. They’re doing what it’s supposed to do and you know rebuilding finally. But that’s a whole conversation for another day. This is about basketball. So in the meantime, you do need that one team that should I say take the Saints spot because the Saints will always be number one regardless. But you need life. Now granted, New Orleans has been through everything this year between the Super Bowl, between the terrorist attacks, between the prisoners breaking out. I mean it it’s everything under the sun has been going on but still nothing brings more life and you know revigorates a fan base than playoff ball than postseason ball knowing that all right people are on the couch watching just the same way that we sit here watching these other teams there’s a Hornets fans Wizards fans Utah Jazz fans everybody that’s just sitting there on the outside looking at you it sucks it sucks not only I’m not sitting there saying that the Pelicans are oh man we’re just nipping at the bud to make the finals but a playoff run would be nice. And if you want to play the number game, since becoming the Pelicans, they have only made it to the playoffs four times with one series went and that was the year they swept the uh the Portland Trailblazers with Dame and um CJ McCullum back when we had Drew and Rondo and all that. But at the same time, and like that right there, that product is unexcusable. Unexcusable. You haven’t won a playoff series since 2017 and 2018. Like that season, you haven’t won a playoff series since then. So much has happened. You’ve seen two presidents. You’ve seen two presidents since that point on and you haven’t been back. Well, I mean, you was back and got swept. I mean, you was back and got swept. Z still hasn’t played a playoff game and it’s just so frustrating. This not about a Z. It’s just so frustrating. This is a management thing. This is this is a franchise organizational direction thing. It’s like, are they not watching OKC? I would love to just see the blender feel the red how it was in that Phoenix area. Just feel the red. Everybody just cheering at the top of their lungs. The blender is rocking. We need that. We need that. Nothing gives more life to a fan base than hope. Hope. Hope. Simple as that. H O P E. Hope. Nothing gives a fan base more than that. Like think about the last time the Pelicans truly had hope. And honestly, that was when Zion went down in the play in the playin game against the Lakers. You had hope that oh my god like this team is putting together like oh my you know Brandon he just coming back but if Zion but no just like that snap of the fingers just gone like it truly does suck being on the outside watching because you know you watch the Knicks just beat the Boston Celtics and just watch how their fan base just exploded. The city of New York was just flooded. You got them doing the bing bong all this, you know, they’re doing all the little Nick stuff and like I want that. There needs to the Pelicans can be that. We have New New Orleans. Louis, the people that live here are pure characters. You think you you think you seen something in New York? Go bring a camera out there after the Saints win a a highly contested game or something like that. Go bring the camera out there to the quarters. Go out there, go walk the streets. I I promise you’ll get some content. Oh, you’ll get some content. Matter of fact, I might dabble in that content. But you will get some content. And just seeing the togetherness of a fan base come together, man, it just it’s so beautiful. Especially when you’re dealing with, oh, when we had Bernie, right? Oh, Trey, Branding, no, get rid of Zion. Trey Burning. Like having all these different opinions of, oh, no, man. They both trash. Get rid of both of them. Or just like just having a fan base so split against each other, just constant bickering about, well, we got to do this cuz you’re bad. So, everybody thinks they had the solutions. Everybody trying to come up with solutions. Everybody thinks that oh what their way is is the best way to what they’re doing because it’s not working obviously what the team is doing. So everybody was coming up with these different scenarios and oh well we got to do this and that or you know man Z man forget Z bro trade Zion or how you know I’m talking about that Brandon Ingram saga when it was like either you want is a team Brandon is a team Zion and like that stuff right there tears fan bases apart but you know what brings fan bases together winning performing giving the fans what they want because honestly all we want here is a winner we just want to win you know I’m not sitting act like the Pelicans are some storyried franchise but we want to respectable. I think everybody wants to win. And I just think that with the Saints going going to be down for a couple years, this is the perfect opportunity for the Pelicans to boost up, man. Boost up. But will they get out their own way? Will Joe Dumar be able to come in and actually change that? Will Joe Dumar be able to be the the domino that falls that starts a good title wave, not a bad one, you know, not not the first domino that falls and then is just straight into the gutter? I’m talking like things start to progress. That’s all we want. All we want is to find that love and joy of a winning basketball team and to be able to say, “Damn, the Pelicans are in the playoffs.” And not just they snuck in the playoffs, not they got in through the play. Like, no, they are legitimately a playoff team. I just know deep down that this fan base has so much to give and it has so much for the world to hasn’t even seen. Man, it just feels like as Pelican fans, we’re just unseen. We’re unseen. We’re out of the eye. And I think that’s what the franchise want, you know? Out of sight, out of mind. like cuz every time the Pelicans are are in in the spotlight, it’s always about trading somebody or Z’s little off the court escapades, but other than that, you know, it’s rarely for something good. It’s rarely for something good. And I think that’s what the franchise want. As long as the the means keep getting done, I mean, the money as long as the money keep coming in and we’re out of sight, out of mind. We ain’t no uh drama and whatnot, they just going to keep this we going to keep this ball rolling, right? Right. We going to try and maybe attempt to kind of want to do better, but but if your actions don’t line up with your words, then what are you just telling me? So, it’s like it’s you still got to show me. But it’s just it’s just devastating seeing, you know, OKC’s crowd, the Pacers wild fan base, how live their crowd is. And I just know New Orleans can do that. The Pelican fan base can do that. The the blender is not empty how it seems on a random uh Thursday night in December playing the let’s say the Milwaukee Bucks. Like, it the the fans have so much more to give than what’s been shown. so much more because the team hasn’t given you nothing to be happy about. They haven’t given you anything to sit there and be a fanatic about. Sit there and be a fanatic. Like why? I get it. It’s the Knicks, but like you know Knicks have these celebrities courtside and all that or celebrities going to the game. Like the Pelicans, man, it’s like our guys sitting courtside. They they’re probably they’re super rich. Don’t get me wrong, they’re rich, but nobody really knows them. You might catch Morris Bart, maybe Ron 49, but like we don’t have no celebrities really popping to the game. The most famous people that be at the Pelican Games are are Moors Bart or Saints players. Or Saints players. Like just having somebody famous in the building. Really, I’m talking about genuinely famous. You know, Nick’s got Timothy Timothy Shalomé and uh all these Tracy Morgan, Spikeley, all these just people being there. I don’t know, man. I could be stupid cuz like OKC who who the hell are the people sitting at OKC Corside? Like said, these are people that have way more money than I will ever have. I’m not talking down about them. I’m just saying like I don’t I don’t know who they are. Very rich, but I don’t I don’t know who they are. So, I I I get that point. That point might be a little stupid because like, well, you know, OKC, their fans are they pack the house out all the time and really don’t be no celebrities. I know OKC games, but I just feel like this fan base needs a light shined on it. And I think that only comes from being in the playoffs, man, and winning, not just being a first round bounce, not being swept out the playoffs and people forgot you was even in the playoffs. Like, OKC was done with you after really game, too. It’s like, “Yeah, this is over with. This is over with.” Especially without especially without Zion. And you got Willie Green telling Brandon Incam, he got to figure it out. Yeah, Blue Dort, you got to figure out a way to get out the Dorture Chamber. You got to figure it out. I can’t do nothing for you. So, I just think that, man, we just need playoff basketball. The city needs it. The only way to really rejuvenate this fan base is winning. You know, being a NAD or just having an MVP, man. Like, y’all see what the NBA is doing right now with the MVP, man. They’re they’re not trying to announce it. They had to wait to see how the Shay and Yoker series wrapped up. I mean, we saw uh John Morant and uh Busy Bones Highland talking about it on Twitter like, “Oh, what’s going on? Why are they announcing MVP so late?” You know, Jaw was like, “Hey, we gotta wait to see who win this series.” You know, Shay ultimately won, so Shay should be the MVP, but you know, Jokic numbers were there. But just like being in those talks, man. I I envy that. I envy to just even be in MVP discussions, man. As as somebody as an outsider looking in, it’s like, damn, we have a player on our team that’s an MVP or that’s MVP level. That right there, that’s how you rejuvenate a fan base, man. That’s why New Orleans needs playoff basketball so bad, just to be in talks like this. Like, oh, will the P well Pelican star get the MVP, you know? I was like, Oklahoma City star Shay Gila Alexander, Denver Nuggets legend Nola Jokers. Like, the Pelicans need that. And that’s truly that all Pelican fans should want is just to be respected. To be respected by the national media, to be respected like this. That’s all we want. We’re not asking for much. We’re not asking for much. But yeah, the NBA think they slick doing that. Trust me, we see you. So, the NBA announced the MVP last year, May 8th of 2024. So, it’s like May 81 19th right now. It’s like May 19th. So, they had to go and see. So, don’t know. It’s not a conspiracy. They had to wait and let him duke it out, but it does go to show. So, let’s just say the Nuggets did win that series. Would that mean they would have gave the MVP to Joic? Especially after the amazing regular season that Shay had. You know, they do say the MVP is a regular season award. So, that just makes me think, would the NBA have given to MVP to Jokic if the Nuggets eliminated the Thunder last night or that would have just brought up a whole can of worms. I don’t know. I don’t know how they would have played it out. I guess that’s really what they was waiting on to see how it would play out, but it’s a regular season award. I think we kind of But they both went crazy in the regular season. So, just to have the Pelican in those discussions would just be amazing, man. So instead of me making videos about, oh man, we got the seventh pick in the draft, you know, we be talking about, hey, is Zion going to win MVP, right? Or the what’s it looking like? The Pelicans in the Western Conference Finals. Could you imagine saying that? The Pelicans in the Western Conference Finals. No, you can’t. You couldn’t even imagine saying that. It’s crazy. Cold world. Cold world. So yeah, let me know down in the comments, man. How y’all feel about this video. I’m sorry about this video basically being about a rant about how I’m upset about seeing all these other teams on national TV and how live the city looks for these teams and how much happiness I can see that being in the playoffs and winning playoff series bring to a fan base and I just wish the Pelicans could be there. So y’all let me know down in the comments how you guys feel. You know, appreciate all the love, man. I appreciate even the hate. I mean there’s hate. There’s always going to be there’s love. There’s always going to be a little bit of hate, but it’s like at least people watching now, right? There was a time there’s a couple y was there. Like there’s a time for getting a 100 video 100 views on a video was amazing. So like I just appreciate the love, the growth that y’all have been doing. Even the people, you know, in my life sharing the videos and whatnot. So like I just appreciate everybody, man. Appreciate everybody, man. Like I said, man, y’all enjoy your loved ones for sure. You know, congratulate your loved ones for doing great accomplishments, man. Because everybody’s trying to find their way in life. So y’all enjoy y’all Monday, man. This has been your host with the most Jordan Kitchen, baby, and I’m signing out. Peace.
On this episode of the Pelicans Scoop, Jordan Kitchens is in disgust at the fact New Orleans truly hasn’t experience playoff basketball. What would that look like if this franchise was a winner? Also talks a little NBA MVP.
