NBA LIVE! Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves GAME 2 LIVE | May 22, 2025 | NBA Playoffs

doesn’t allow him to get around him. Forced him to shoot a flatooted shot. Nice ball fake inside an excellent pass. That number becomes big in a close game. McDaniels had some speed and some seen last couple of buckets. [Applause] Gives it up to Edwards and Edwards nothing but space at the University of Arkansas. He led the NCAA in that category. He was four from downtown last night. Wiggins once again approaching double digits as McDaniels point. One of the few guys that does it like that. That’s a nice move that time. That was a pretty move. SGA off the screen. Fires away in good defensive minds like Chris. Do they like having to as SG and one Edwards who hasn’t had a lot of spins to maneuvers gets the feet behind the three-point line. Edwards got up top and finally on the third effort Wallace more defense from him. You can see him retreat back there on the move right [Music] here. Whole lot [Applause] thing two guys who’ve been playing together for a while [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 17 tonight. just continues to Edward as Reed on the steps with the free throw line. Now you got to play some defense right around lays it up and this one out. McDaniels the option here. He’s the first option. Will drive on Caruso who commits the foul and McDaniels lays it up and in. He’s going to go to the line to tie this game. This is something that we haven’t seen from them over the course of the year as Alexander Walker on the flash pulls somebody to break free. It’s SGA. Clock is running pulls up off balance. It was on target. No good. All [Music] right. Thank [Music] you. Heat. Heat. N. Let [Music] [Music] [Music] me show you. [Music] [Music] Oh, he gets it to fall and that makes it just a single digit deficit. Wiggins got 13. He’s really finding his rhythm here. I mean, smart move to keep feeding him the ball. Yeah, when you have a guy playing like he has been recently, he’s got to be the first option on every possession. On the court for the Timberwolves, second quarter underway, Anthony Edwards out there with Dante Jenzo. Then there’s Nas Reed. Then it’s Nquille Alexander Walker and it’s Clark in at the power forward position. Now here’s Joe. Give him eight. Wiggins outside pass to Caruso and again Oklahoma City with a triple. Well, when he’s able to find a shot he likes, Caruso can be pretty effective from range. And Reed with a basket on the assist from Edwards. He’s got nine. And once more this half, they find a way to get great position [Applause] inside. up top. [Applause] Homegrren down low. Holren drops it in. And this is where Homegrren is such a scoring threat. His size can make interior shots easier to [Applause] find. Edwards against Caruso. Here’s the teardrop. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. All right, a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from here for Minnesota. Well, the way they’ve been attacking inside is phenomenal. Consistently getting high percentage looks and that’s what great offenses are all about. Another thing is they’ve created lots of second chances at the line, knocking down a high percentage of their free throws tonight. And throw good. Edwards Lou Dort. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. [Applause] [Music] So, hits one and misses one at the line. Well, we know Edwards has an outstanding skill set, but what makes him truly special is his competitive will and ability to handle high pressure moments. Back to Joe. Pass to Dort. Five on the clock. takes the three. Rebound Minnesota. They held a 12-point lead earlier. Outside Debenzo Edwards looking for an opening. Shoots over Caruso. And that one comes up a bit short. Yeah, you expect him to make those. Good look. Just couldn’t find the mark. Here’s Homegrren and he drops in the layup off the glass. Homer’s got four points in the quarter. You could tell Dort keeps his options open when he has the ball. He’ll set up another guy if he can. And Chris Finch has called timeout. He wants a few moments to regroup with his players. Jaylen Williams, he’s checked in for Joe. Rudy Goar’s checked in for Minnesota. Mike Connley comes in for Deven Shinszo. outside read pass to Gobear and the call is going to be yes an illegal screen. They’ve done a lot of good things today, but one area they need to improve is their ball security. Thunder trail by three. And here’s Caruso. And here’s Homegrren. Now Dort back to Homegrren. Big catch throwing it down. They closed the gap over the last few possessions. But can they push through and grab the lead? Well, with all the momentum they built up, I don’t see this run stopping anytime soon. Pass to Reed. Caruso against Connley. Reed sets a screen, lets it go from deep by Connley. That one’s good. Connley’s got seven points in the game. Well, Connley has that steady floor general demeanor. They love to have him running the pick and roll. Down low. Intercepted inside. Here’s Reed. He can’t hit that time. Great D that time from Homegrren. outside Williams. [Applause] [Music] Back to Homegrren. Here’s the three. The fourth three. Hol. Their ball movement on this run has been tremendous. It’s led to a lot of good clean open looks. From 15 ft away. And Edwards the bucket on the assist by Connley. He’s got 14. Well, it might not be fair, but most nights we expect Edwards to put up big scoring numbers. That’s what you ask of your stars. He didn’t make them pay for that weak defense, but they just can’t rely on him to miss those kind of shots. Rejected by Homer. You can’t forget about Homegr’s reach, especially when he’s nearby on defense. The Thunder making a switch here. Gilg Alexander checked in. Julius Randle’s checked in for the Timberwolves. McDaniels comes in for Alexander Walker. Go Bear with a screen on Williams. They double Randall for three. Connley. Great start so far. Three of three in this one. Just a veteran play by Connley there. Giving the D no time to react off the catch. Williams a screen on Connley. Shoots from 12. Nice spin off the left rim and in. Gil just Alexander’s got his second basket of the game. Well, when you have a scorer as skilled as he is, you do everything you can to getting the looks he need to go outside. McDaniels and it’s Jay Gilis Alexander with the rebound. And here’s Gilis Alexander. He’ll bring it up for the Thunder. Trailing by four. [Applause] Oh, the determination from Gilis Alexander. Hey, they’re just getting pushed around inside for Minnesota. They’ve gone four of 10 from the field in the second. And Chris Finch has called timeout. A moment to rest and confer on the game plan. Wiggins. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Steven Enenzo’s checked in outside. Connley over to the left wing. Randall against Wiggins. gets the 14-footer to fall. Randle’s got 14 points. And every season, Randle seems to shoulder more of the offensive load. It’s what allows him to dominate sometimes. That’s tipped. Pass to Williams over Gobear. Williams misses. Minnesota leading by four. Randle finds Connley to the inside. Oh, Rudy on the lob. Well, I like when Goar’s teammates use his length on offense. Textbook alleyoop there. Gil just Alexander passes to Williams and we’ve got 118 left in the first half of basketball. Clock at six. Wiggins outside. That shot no good. Good work defensively by Randall. Minnesota’s gone two of four from the perimeter in the second so [Applause] far. Wiggins with it. Randle’s in his pocket. Here’s Dort. Rudy Gobear with a rebound. Go’s got six rebounds now in the game. McDaniels from long range connects from downtown. He’s got five. They’re really settling into a nice rhythm now. Starting to gain the upper hand. Yeah, you’re seeing their offense in a flow. Now it’s time for their defense to turn up the heat a little more. Now here’s Williams. He’s got 12 over McDaniels. Williams shot is good. And I like how Williams works in these mid-range areas. I mean, such an impressive score. Wiggins against Randle. [Applause] Just three on the clock and he takes it up and lays it in. Randle’s got 16 points. The coach loves seeing chances from that range. Work that inside. And so it’s the Minnesota Timberwolves. They have a nice 9-point cushion at the end of the quarter, and it’s mostly due to their superb shooting. They’ve wasted very few possessions. We’re coming right back. Don’t go anywhere. They know how to draw whistles. They’re attacking, but being And let’s get you back to the action as game two is getting underway. Julius Randall has been sensational. I like how they controlled the tempo and played to his strengths. Yeah, he’s found his spots, been patient with his shot selection, and it’s paid off for himself and the team. Some serious height in the middle. Homegrren the four, Arinstein the five. Gilchess Alexander runs the point with Gourd at the two and it’s Williams in at the three, the small forward. That’s the group from Mark Dagal starting the second half. Now here’s Conley pass to Go out to the wing. Randle against Homegrren. Randle can’t hit. And the shooter had very little space on that attempt. There’s no air space there whatsoever. That’s as close as you can get without foul. Williams finds Gilis Alexander. Gilgis Alexander takes the contact. Yeah. And Gilgus Alexander is a fighter. Someone that challenges the defense and bullies his way through [Applause] contact. Gilis Alexander against Connley. Has to go and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. He’s getting his first free throw attempts of the night now. [Music] [Applause] and he can’t get the first one. Well, known for being an exceptional defender, Goar also has a good sense for when he should look to score. [Applause] and he sinks the [Applause] second. Gil just Alexander with a ball. Give him eight points now. Do it outside. Pass to Homegrren. Williams against McDaniels. Williams in the post. Oh, McDaniels with a steal. Shoots from the elbow and Edwards with the basket on the assist by Gobear. Edwards got 16 points now. Where doesn’t Edwards score from? Even in the mid-range, he makes shots. Homer with a screen on McDaniels. Williams passes to Holren. Oh, the persistence inside of Chad Homegrren. They are on fire to start this second half. Three for three and looking totally insane. And Chris Bench calls timeout here. He wants to make sure everybody’s on the same page. It may be a player’s league, but the coaches obviously play a big part as well. And this is when a coach earns his paycheck. Analyze the situation and give your players the information they need to succeed. McDaniels passes to Go Dort with a steal. Pass to Homegrren. Gilgis Alexander against Connley. Hardenstein a screen goes back up and it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it and he’ll shoot one more at the line. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight. Foul and that one falls for Hardenstein. Second half of play here with just under two and 1/2 minutes past. Randle [Applause] outside. McDaniels from long range. Count it from distance. Give him eight. And when McDaniels is hitting this, look out because it opens up everything else for him offensively. [Music] They get it back outside for Dort. That one’s good. And so Gil is Alexander with the assist. So Dor’s got six points in the quarter. And so it’s Connley who brings up the ball for Minnesota. They held a 12-point lead [Applause] earlier. Alexander with a steal. And up the court come the Thunder. On the break. Pass to Williams. Just under three and 1/2 minutes played here in the third quarter. Hartinstein with a screen on Connley. Down to five on the shot clock. Just Alexander from outside and another three for Oklahoma City. Well, he’s a reason why they’re winning right now. He’s been efficient offensively and his confidence continues to grow. Outside McDaniels back to Conley and stolen by Hartinstein. And off the court come the Thunder on the break and it’s Homegrren missing. A rare miss for him at point blank range. That’s one he’d like to have back. Here’s McDaniels. Pass to Connley and the rebound goes to the Thunder. Gilg Alexander’s got his fourth rebound in this one to the paint. Lays it up and banks it in. Homer’s got 13. Assertive move. You can tell the game’s heating up a bit. Timberwolves trail by [Applause] three outside. [Applause] Edwards. Can they get it? Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Well, that’s the look he wanted, but the defense doing just enough to impact that shot from Dee Hul now seven for nine after that make. Well, it’s only his second three of the night. If he’s going to heat up the second half is a great time to do it. Conley against Alexander right for three. Randall and it’s Homegrren with a rebound. Homegr’s got four rebounds now. Dort pass to Hardenstein and the shot counts. He’s fouled and it’s a chance for a three-point play. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for Oklahoma City. Well, they’ve been absolutely on fire from deep and until the defense offers more resistance, the coaches are going to keep encouraging them to let it fly and also attacking in transition has been working for them. We credit them for running the break well and being opportunistic. Now, here’s Ramble. He’s got 16. Picks Michael Bear from 12 ft. And the basket good. A bank shot that time. 18 points for him. And yeah, Randall is absolutely a threat from in between. Something that D has to recognize and adjust accordingly. Pass to Caruso and Mike Connley picks up the foul. That’s foul number two for him. He didn’t have his feet planted. Reeds checked in for the Timberwolves. Denzo comes in for Edwards. [Applause] [Music] Caruso outside. Pass to Williams. Brown outside. Alexander Walker to the left side wing. Connley passes to Randall. The shot no good. Well, he certainly had trouble finding the mark this way. Shoots from 12 and it’s Homegrren missing. Timberwolves trail by seven. Back to Conway on the wing. Alexander Walker Randall against. Oh, he hits that one. Eight for 11 and remaining a thorn in the D side. And Randall is a gamer. Someone who’s experienced at overcoming intense coverage from this area of the floor. Outside Williams pass to Homegrren. Caruso outside to the middle. Shot clock at five. And Hardenstein slams it in. Oh, not the defensive effort they need to cut into the lead. Well, good call. You have to at least try to protect the rim. Yeah, I’d consider calling timeout right away after that one. The defense has to be better there. Pass to Randle. It’s rebounded by Oklahoma City. Homer’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Oklahoma City leading by seven. Here’s Hardenstein. This is the baby hook. And you’d like to go two for one here, Grant. And at the same time, you want to get a good shot here, VA. [Applause] And Randall, the bucket on the assist by Connley. Randle’s got six in the quarter. They’re really looking to that inside game here in the second half. Getting away from taking a bunch of threes. Outside [Applause] Williams. 19 seconds left in the third quarter. Nice D from Alexander Walker. Randall outside and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s going to go on Chad Homegr. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the point. He’s made three or four free throw attempts in this game. Two [Applause] shots. The free throws for Randall. So, it’s both teams making substitutions [Applause] [Applause] here and Randall drops them both. Here’s Joe. Give him eight points now. from deep three-point range. Oh, and the release was before the buzzer, but it’s off target. And at the close of the third [Music] quarter and a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. You know, I’m kind of stoked this was a choice because I love this pass. A remarkable find. He put his court vision on full display. Yeah, he puts that pass right on the money and made things look easy for his team. Glad to have you with us as we return to the action here in the Western Conference Finals. And a look now at the five for the Timberwolves to start the fourth quarter. We’ve got Anthony Edwards. He’s out there with Dante Devontenzo, Nas Reed out there with Nquille Alexander Walker. And it’s Clark in it before. Now here’s Caruso. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. Great energy. Caruso brings it every second. He’s on the floor. Alexo taking two shots. The free throw drops for Caruso. Well, just a great guy to have in the rotation. Caruso gives you effort. He gives you shooting and the ball rarely sticks in his hands. He keeps it moving. Joe’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Got to get it. Let’s get it. Good. And Caruso drops them both. Timberwolves trail by five. Outside Steven Jenzo pass to Alexander Walker. Rec on Caruso. There’s Alexander Walker and they’ll get another chance. Dort against Edwards. Three to screen on Dort. Five to shoot. Here’s Edwards. Oh, Edwards with style and authority. Wow. This is how explosive Edwards can be. He finishes with such force at the rim. And how about our AT&T 5G slam cam? Couldn’t have captured that play any better. Oklahoma City leading by [Applause] three. Outside, Williams takes a 13-footer and that’s good for two. And coming down the stretch, both teams still playing fantastic offense. Yeah, in hopes that your opponent is just going to go forward. That’s not going to happen. It doesn’t look like in this one. This might go down to whoever has the last possession. Hart pass to Deenzo. Reed sets a screen to the paint. A slam dunk by Reed. Terrific screen. They ask Reed to do a lot of the little things like that and he does them all well. And Mark Deel has called a timeout. He’s looking to make some very important adjustments here. Wiggins. He’s checked in for Joe. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Mike Connley’s checked in for Deven Shinszo. And keeping us updated from the sideline, Ally Leforce. Thanks, guys. Mark Dagnel had some words for his team over the last break. He applauded their shooting and their shot selection, saying, “We’re taking the right threes, not forcing anything. Keep doing that and they’ll continue to fall. Makes the game easy, doesn’t it?” All right, Ally, thanks once again. Williams finds Williams. [Applause] It’s deflected. Tries again and he makes it. And he is stronger than he looks, trust me. I mean, Williams has the bulk to win those tough battles inside. Passes to Alexander Walker. Drives to the hoop. Boom. He jams it straight down. Oh, what ferocity on the throw down. I just love when he goes up with purpose. Where was the D right there? The effort lacking big time. And with the score as close as it is, these are the opportunities you truly can’t allow. Here’s Gort following the score by Minnesota. Caruso outside down low. Here’s Williams and Williams punches it home. Nice one-handed 58. Hey, little exclamation point. Edwards pass to Alexander Walker. Now Reed Connley against Caruso to the inside. Reed. Yes, great play by Connley to set it up. Connley’s got his seventh assist here tonight. And Reed is a very active player. Love seeing him be this aggressive inside. Williams misses. Timberwolves trail by three. The kick out to Edwards. Shoots over Wiggins. And there are the Timberwolves with another bucket. Well, when Edwards gets this hot, all an opponent can hope to do is limit the damage. [Applause] Connley against Caruso. We played just over three and a half minutes now in the fourth quarter. Oh, good D by Edwards. Well, with this team leading, he might just want to put that one in his pocket next time. Pass to Reed outside. Edwards. Wiggins with a steal. Oh, got a piece of it. Dor against Clark outside. Williams on target from range. Williams has got seven now in this quarter. Training his first three of the game. No doubt going to build up a little momentum from outside. Reed on Caruso goes up on the wing. That’s short off the rim and so it’s Williams with it. He brings it up for the Thunder. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Here’s Wiggins and he takes the fantastic lead pass up strong for the slam. Slams it down. Two hands, man. They’re really getting aggressive now. Connley up top. He’s guarded by [Applause] Caruso. Reed passes to Alexander Walker. Six to shoot outside. Connley shoots. Oh, he finds himself wide open and drills it. Well, who else but the steady veteran Mike Connley comes through with the timely bucket. And we’ve got a timeout called by Mark Dagno. He wants their game plan to be crystal clear at this point. So for Oklahoma City, Arinstein, he’s checked in for Williams. Chad Homegrren comes in for Wiggins. And Shay Gilis Alexander is subbed in for [Applause] Caruso. Over to the wing. Hardstein finds Gilis Alexander. McDaniels against Williams inside. Shot clock at six. Here’s Hardenstein. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. Rudy Goar picks one up. [Applause] Isaiah. No good on that one. Two shots. [Applause] So neither attempt will fall that time for him. Yeah, they’ve really made a concerted effort to get to the line here in the second half. Connley against Gilus Alexander. handle a screen on Gilchis Alexander. The shot by Connley. No good. Oklahoma City leading by four. Here’s Gilchas Alexander. Hartinstein with a screen on Connley. Gil Alexander passes to Hartstein. And Hardenstein slams it in. And Sha’s playmaking is really exceptional. Highlighted there with the perfect pass. Edwards against Dort right side coverage. Oh, it’s stolen by Gildas Alexander. Here’s Holren. Ooh, Chad with a big finish. And this is why so many are high on Hol. His ability to dominate games with this [Applause] one. Edwards against Dort. The floater. Good work defensively by Gordon. And for the Thunder, they’re shooting a fantastic 57%. That’s the home grim. Takes one from 10 ft and he can’t extend the lead to double digits. Timberwolves trail by eight. Now here’s [Applause] Edwards to the left wing. Go Bear finds McDaniels. Go Bear with a screen on Gordon. Shot clock at five. They get it again. Oh, a dunk and a foul. A powerhouse move. He’s got a chance for one more at the line. It’s all Isaiah Hartstone. [Applause] [Applause] And here’s Gilas [Applause] Alexander and an intentional foul right there. [Applause] 44 seconds left in the fourth. Dor right side pass to Hardenstein. Well, one of the premier defenders in this league. Go so good at using his enormous wingspan to shut you down. At the line, Isaiah Stein first free throw is good and that increases the lead to six and he hits both free throws here and it’s a seven-point game. Taking care of business at the line and he adds some cushion to their lead and Minnesota calls time here. 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter. What do you think is going to be their best move at this point? It’s going to be tough. They’ve got to get a quick hoop and then immediately foul. Connley looking for an opening. Fires it. He connects. Oh, and that cuts the lead to just five. Captain Clutch, one of Connley’s many monikers appropriate here. Just wow. And they go to the intentional foul. First personal foul at the line for York City. Shilis Alexander taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. on the mission on the miss. So the first one drops and that increases the lead to six. And so both free throws good and it’s a seven-point game. You know what’s special about Gilgus Alexander is how shifty he is which also makes it so tough on defenses. And Minnesota calls time here and we’ve got 28 seconds left in the fourth. [Applause] Here’s Connley. The Thunder pull it in. Those are precisely the looks this team is trying to create. Yeah, quality offense will serve you well.
