Here’s John Miller and he misses off the outside with a sinker. Ball one to Mikel Garcia. [Music] Right-handed hitter Bobby Whit Jr. on deck. Now a swing and a base hit to right field. That was a sinker out over the plate and he just went with it and drilled it between first and second. And so Garcia is aboard. So speed on the base pass immediately for the Royals with Bobby Whit Jr. coming up. The time and temp are sponsored by Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness. We’re all strong on this planet. 12:45 p.m. First pitch 65° and the Mercury is rising. There’s a called strike to Bobby Whit Jr. Whit two hits in eight at bats so far in the series, including that infield hit last night. Now the pitch to him and that’s a base hit into left field. Hard ground ball on a slider and he hooked it right between third and short. So a couple of ground balls already induced by Logan Webb at both of them for base hits. Two men on and a lot of speed out there. Now the Royals top RBI man Vinnie Pasquantino will come up. The Giants with Webb on the mound and Bailey catching. Wade at first, Fitzgerald at second, Adamus at short, Chapman at third, Ramos Lee and Yaz from left to right in the outfield. Now a slider is way off the outside for ball one. Possino eight homers, 28 batted in for the year. Web delivers. That is just off the outside for the change up. It just missed. It was inch off the corner or less and just a bit low right around the knees. Two and0. He throws swinging a foul tip off the catcher and he threw another change up there. So he backed up on that change up which is not unusual for Web. Two balls and a strike to count. New ball sent out to Logan Webb. Webb pitched the first game of the series with the Athletics on Friday night. Man, he was overpowering in that game. One run, five hits allowed in eight innings. He pitches and there’s a line drive into right center field. That’s going to get in there. Base hit. That was a cutter in on the hands. Coming around third and scoring is Garcia. He got a late break for some reason, but he still scores. and three straight hits and the Royals have a one to nothing lead. Whit Jr. stopped at second, but that was a a high cutter and it just kind of stayed right out over the heart of the plate. Chung Hulie came up throwing and his throw was cut off by Lamont Way Jr. near the pitcher’s mouth. 29th RBI of the year for Pascantino. Now Salvi Perez and a big swing and a miss on a change up on one the count. Perez who had 27 homers and 104 batted in last year. Now he takes a little bit high with a cutter. One ball, one strike. But so far this year only two home runs and he’s gone 31 consecutive games without a home run. Now the pitch and a called strike on the inside. A check swing. That ball at the belt right in on the hands. Now it’s one and two. Here’s Web throwing. And he struck it out swinging with a low change up. Getting the ball down to Perez on that one. He was up. And for Web, when he throws that four seam fast ball, he’ll often times by intent put it up in the zone, sometimes even a little bit out of the strike zone trying to induce a chase. But otherwise, when he’s up around the belt a lot, that’s not good. Here’s Mark Cana, right-handed hitter, and he takes just off the inside with a change out. Ball one. Garcia single to right. Whit single to left and Pasquantino single to center. One to nothing Kansas City. Two men on, one man out. Here it comes. And Cana takes a sinker that came back over the outside for a called strike. Mark Cana, the former Cal star and Giant for a brief time. 286 average, 56 at bats. Now he looks at a slider for a called strike. Kneeh high on the outside. Strike two. Cana and 56 at bats with two doubles, no homers, three batted in. Two men on, one man out. Here it comes. Swing and a foul tip. And he just got a piece of that breaking ball as it swept right off the plate and well out of the zone. But Cana lunging at it was able to make contact to stay alive. Whit who has explosive speed at second. Pascino the runner at first and the pitch up and away with a fourseam fast ball but well out of the strike zone. Easy for Canada to take that one. Two balls, two strikes. We’re coming to you live from the Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth. Now the spin move by Web looking the runner back to second. That’s Bobby Whit Jr. Not just a runner, one of the fastest, maybe the fastest runner in the game. Two and two the count to Mark Cana. Drew Waters, a switch hitter, is on deck. Here’s Web into his stretch. The pitch and a foul out of play off to the right. That ball was up. That was a sinker and it was up belt high that it did come back to the outside and Cana was able to fight it off. Two and two the count in the sunshine. Web throws swing and a miss. He struck him out. A four seamer belt high. Two straight strikeouts for Logan Webb. Now a check of who’s on deck. Sponsored by Timberch. Timbertech decking and railing. Everything wood should be. Visit timbert.com. Two on, two out now. One to nothing Royals. The pitch fouled over the screen and out of play. That was a cutter and that was up again. That cutter was right out over the heart of the plate at about belt high. One strike to count. Wit at second. Pascantino at first. Short stop. Adamus well over toward the middle. The pitch now and a swinging strike. That was a change up. Down got him to chase. It ended up bouncing in the dirt and a new ball will be put in play. Both runners ready to take off at the crack of the bat with two down. Web throws and a change up and that is low. And this time Waters took it. One ball and two strikes. 23rd pitch of the inning about to be thrown by Web. He delivers and a change up low again. And so Waters has seen three consecutive change ups. He swung at the first one but has been able to lay off the next [Music] two. Here’s Web [Music] Sack. He throws swing and a miss. He struck it out and that was a change up again. Running down and in. After three straight hits, he strikes out three in a row. take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following. I really don’t know what to say. Well, we’re coming to you live from the Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth on this beautiful afternoon. Giants baseball under the bright sunshine here at Oracle Park. Royals jump ahead. Bullpen day for Kansas City. The first guy, the left-hander Lynch against Ramos. One- nothing Kansas City. Bottom one. Daniel Lynch, tall and skinny, 6′ 6 in tall. And his first pitch is a sinker right over the outside corner for a called strike to Elliot Ramos. Lynch 28 years old delivers. And now he’s on the inside corner up at the belt for a called strike two. So he’s hit the corner on both sides with his first two pitches. Two strikes to count. He delivers. Swing and a foul tip into the glove of the catcher. So Ramos has very quickly gotten rid of and Matt Chapman will come up. That was a hard slider on the inside. A 1.29 earned run average so far this year for Lynch in 20 games and he’s got three wins. Not a strikeout guy though ordinarily. Now fast ball is off the outside. He pitched here in the Monday night game and he pitched and got the final out of the eighth inning or I beg your pardon in the yeah the he started the eighth inning. Here’s a ball and it’s 2 and0 now to Matt Chapman coming back after a day off. Now he takes low 3 and 0. Chi’s got a couple of hits against him. It was Sam Huff with one out and then Ramos also one the hardest hit ball of the series. There’s a called strike three and one. Ramos got a 116 mph liner to left for a base hit in that instant and that was the end of Lynch. 3-1 pitch and he got the call at the knees with a change up. Strike two. [Music] Giants are trailing one to nothing. Last of the first. Here’s Lynch to the plate. Very high and outside. And he walks in. Threw him. Another change up. And that one just got away from him. Not close. Now Jung Hulie will come up. Let’s pause here briefly for station identification on the KN&BR Northern California Honda dealers radio network. This is Giants baseball. Nothing like it. There’s a long drive. It’s headed for the bay on KNBR and K&BR FM San Francisco, a Cumulus media station. Jung Hu Lee takes a fast ball right down the middle of the plate at 94 mph. Strike one [Music] called Lynch Sats. The left-hander throws swing and a miss. Lee after taking one down the middle swung mightily at one that ended up well off the inside corner right in on the hands. 0 and two the count. Here’s Lynch ready. Chapman away from first. Two strike pitch. Struck him out swinging. Change up right at the knees. So Lee that could be pleased with that at bat, that’s for sure. They really got one pitch to hit and he took it. And Lynch did not go back into the strike zone again and he got him to swing at at both. So, two strikeouts now. Wilmer Flores comes up. 10 home runs, 42 batted in for Wilmer. Chapman at first. Wilmer pops it up behind the plate. Fermine was had no idea where the ball was at first. Somebody shouted to him, so he spun around belatedly, but the ball was back over the back stop and well into the lower deck. So no matter on one, the count to Wilmer, 259 batting average. Giants are trailing one to nothing. Two down and a snap throw to first. Lynch after stepping off the slab then made the short arm throw over there. Chapman who has five steals tied for the club lead in that category. One strike to Flores. Now he fouls one back to the screen but after a high fast ball was over the plate but up. Wilmer had a pretty good swing at it but fouled it straight back. So he’s behind 0 and2. Flores who has a 773 OPS for the year. The pitch very high went still higher. One ball and two strikes. The Royals around the infield have Perez at first, Massie at second, Whit at short, Garcia the third baseman, an outfield of Cana Isbel and Waters left field over to right field. Fairine catching one-two pitch and a broken bat roller foul. Broken bat does not really cover what happened on that one. It’s like a uh on the barrel end of the bat. It was like a uh a shard just got shaved right off the bat. Like he didn’t hit a baseball, he hit a carving knife. So a new bat out to Wilmer Flores. One ball, two strikes to Wilmer. Lynch has given up one home run this year in 21 and two/3 innings up to the moment. He pitches swing and there’s a soft liner out into left center field over the head of Bobby Whit Jr. who started racing back on it like a receiver racing downfield for a long pass, but it still was beyond him. Chapman with two down running at on contact. Easily made it over to third. So Flores gets the hit. The Giants have an opportunity for Willie Adams. Now, here’s the leaderboard update sponsored by Bank of America, proud sponsor of the Junior Giants, helping inspire tomorrow’s leaders on and off the field. Homer Flores leads the Jazz in RBI’s with 42. Then, Jung Hulie, 31, is number two on the club. There’s a called strike now to Adamus. Matt Chapman has knocked in 24. Elliot Ramos 24. And then Adamus 23 batted in. One strike pitch and that is little bit up on the outside. That that was close but not a good pitch to hit. One ball, one strike and and he got the call. Chapman at third. Giants trailing one- nothing. Flores at first. Now a swing and a foul. That ball was in there and that might have been the one he wanted. It was belt high on the outer half of the plate where he got the arms extend but it fouled it straight back. 20 pitches thrown by Lynch here in the first inning. The Giants trailing one to nothing. Thomas had maybe the key hit of the night last night. His triple in the fourth inning. He drove in the tying run of the game and then a little bit later scored the go-ahad run. One-two pitch up and in for the hard slider at 86 miles per hour. Two and two the count. Mike Ystreky lefty is on deck. Two on, two out, two balls, two strikes. Here it comes. Swing. And there’s a highf fly ball. Just kind of an easy play for Canam over to his left. Just a couple of steps for the out. The Giants strand two. One to nothing Kansas City onto the Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith corks one to right down the line. It may go crazy folks go crazy. It’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the score of 3 to2 and a home run by the Wizard. Go crazy. Catch the next unforgettable call on the MLB app and MLB.com. Let’s see if you can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it [Music] means? Oppo taco. A home run hit to the opposite field. Mountain View, shout out to you for supporting KMBBR, Mountain View Sports Leader. One- nothing Royals. This is the Taco Bell. Second inning. Download the Taco Bell app to unlock rewards and exclusive access. The Royals with their seventh place hitter, Felix Fairmine. Freddy Fairmine. Here’s a He hits a high pop up first base sight into foul ground goes Lamont Way Jr. And then he lunges for it and makes the catch just before colliding with the screamed fence in that dugout level party area. And he held on to it. Ended up being a nice play as he was battling some wind and the the harsh glare of the sun. You you’re trying to avoid getting injured while you’re trying to catch that ball. So he he did it well. Not as easy as it looks. Here now is Michael Massie, left-handed hitter. And he takes a call. Now that is a low strike. Wow. And that’s good for Webb if he can get the ball down there and get that call from Jordan Baker. All should be well. Here’s the one strike pitch. Massie swings and misses at a high and I I’m not sure what that was. 82 mph that had it was running away from him like a like a change up. Here’s the O2 pitch. Ground ball into right field. Well, that was a change up and it was up a little bit, but he pulled it on the ground. He got the ground ball. That’s three ground ball hits now for Kansas City in this game already. And here comes Kyle Isbel. Giants are heading out on the road. Very long trip. They go to three cities. Washington DC, Detroit, and then Miami before they get back. When they get back, the San Diego Padres’s will be coming in. Here’s the pitch. Swinging a foul out of play off to the left from the left-handed batting Isel Padres with Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Jake Croninworth. Padres’s come in for four starting the 2nd of June, Monday night, and there’s a ball down and in. So, the count to Isbel, one ball and one strike. Get your tickets now. Giants Padres’s big showdown to start the month of June here. Runner goes, the pitch is a swinging strike. The throw down to second is in the dirt and a steal for Massie. The desperation throw there by Bailey trying to see if he could somehow get that runner and but he threw it in the dirt and Adamus did well just to even get a glove on the ball and it hit off the glove and rolled away. Now swinging a foul right back to the back stop. One and two. So, here’s Bell now with a runner in scoring position. Royals last night had two runners thrown out trying to steal and they had a runner that got picked off trying to steal on Monday night. So, that’s their that’s their first steal of this series. Now, a ball misses a slider off the outside. Two and two the count. Web ready throws. That is a live drive base hited to right field over the head of Fitzgerald. The ball is fielded out in right by Yaz who overthrows his cut off man and just gives Isbel second base. The runner going to third had already been held up by the coach Vance Wilson. And Yas just airma mailed that one high over the head. Somehow he has maybe it either got away from him or he thought the runner was going to try and score. So a a very rare instance of uh poor fundamentals out there by Yaz. So a single for Isbel and he took second on the throne. Ji bring the infield in already trailing one to nothing. And the leadoff man, Mikel Garcia, who punched a hard ground ball single into right his first time and scored a run in the first, takes ball one. Here’s the sack. Here’s the pitch. And it runs way off the inside. Ball two. And you got Bobby Wit Jr. right now in the Royals dugout. They they’re starting to have some visions of a big inning here. Two and0 the count to Garcia. The pitch to a smash into left field base hit. Man was that hit hard. Massie scores from third. Isbel goes to third. Two nothing Royals. So Garcia is two for two. That was a sinker and it was up. Ran about mid thigh to on the inside under the hands. And now here comes JP Martinez out to the mound. It’s the second inning in a row in which the Royals have been able to string together three straight hits. And now Bobby Whit Jr., the big hitter, is coming up. Although Mikel Garcia has had an outstanding start to his season, came into that at bat with a 314 batting average. 376 on base. He’s two for two in this game. And he’s a a guy who can steal a base, although he got thrown out trying to steal last night. We’ve had the Habis Law mound visit. Now back to work. Middle infield double play depth. The pist to wit swing to the miss. Slider down on the [Music] outside. Royals have six hits against Web in these first two innings. Runners at first and third. One out. And Logan Webb into his stretch. Ready delivers. And that’s in there for a cold strike. That was a sinker. And somehow Bobby Wit Jr. seemed to be looking or expecting something else. That ball was up and right out over the plate. 02 pitch. Slider lunged out and hit in the air along the right field line. Yas goes over to the sidewall where it comes out very close to the foul line and it drops over the net into the crowd. Oh, and two the count. That ball was up a little bit. Adamus at short. Fitzgerald at second. Both back a few steps in for the outfield grass. Double play depth. Fitzgerald well over toward the middle. The pitch comes in and a check swing. A change up in the dirt. Blocked by Bailey keeping Isbel at third and keeping Garcia at first. I I want to say keeping the double play in order, but Wit has such amazing speed. He really has to hit one really hard right at somebody for there to be a chance of a double play. Now he takes and that is a change up in the dirt again. Two and two the count. That’s 42 pitches thrown by Logan Webb already in these first two innings. The Royals with six hits already. One out. There’s the throw to first and Garcia back to the bag standing up. Wade on the bag with him. The outfielders pushed toward the right field side. The center fielder, Jung Hulie, is well over toward right center. The left fielder Ramos is way over in left center, way off the line. Now the pitch swing lighted into right field. Yas is waiting for it. And he’s out in fairly deep right field to make the catch. Tagging at third. Isbel. He’ll score. And it is three nothing Royals. That ball was up again and a very hard hit sacrifice fly to right. Garcia held it first. RBI for Whit. So, two more runs have now scored here in the second inning. Pasquantino the leading RBI producer for the Royals. And he takes a call strike. He knocked in the first run of this game with a single to center in the first inning. 29 RBI’s for the year for Wit. He just got his 27th RBI of the year. Now the pitch very high with a cutter. One and one. And that cutter has been up. That cutter has been kind of problematic for him so far. Three nothing Royals second inning. Here it comes in on the fists and a bloop foul off the third base side that will reach back over the net and into the camera well just beyond the Giants dugout. One and two. Garcia leads away from first. Here’s the pitch and the change up is in the dirt. Two and two the count. Well, after a 24 pitch first inning, this will be his 24th pitch of the second inning. He throws and a check swing. No appeal. You have nothing to lose by appealing it, but none was asked for by Patrick Bailey. Three and two the count. Two down. Wade will vacate the bag. The runner will be off and running. There he goes. The pitch strike three call in the inside corner with the fast. But two more runs on three more hits. Three nothing Kansas. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith corks one into right down the line. It may go. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. Mike Gstrevky leads off against the left-hander Lynch who throws him a called strike right at the knees on one. So far it’s been [Music] a pretty big strike zone from Jordan Baker now. Yas hits a slow topper to second racing out at Massie. He’s got it and makes the spin and across the body throw to first in time for the out. Number 49, Tyler. Now, Tyler Fitzgerald, a right-hander up in the Kansas City bullpen. Bolan, the right-hander, warming up for Kansas City. And here’s a called strike at the knees with a curveball. Tyler Fitzgerald batting with one out. The Giants are trailing three to nothing. Now Fitzgerald takes a called strike. A change [Music] up. Bailey comes out on deck. One two strike pitch way outside and low with a change up. [Music] Jonathan Bolan. Not like Bobby Bolan, a guy who pitched for the Giants back in the 60s. It’s pronounced similar but spelled much differently. There’s a ball down and in with a slider. One and two. He hadn’t thrown him a fast ball yet. This Bolan is B O W L an N. Two and two pitch. Swinging the ground ball to third. Garcia’s got it. The throw to first. Oh wow. Apparently was just in time. The out was recorded, but Fitzgerald almost beat that one out. Number 13. Now Patrick Bailey. Chance will be at Nationals Park in Washington starting Friday. That’s where the road trip will begin. There’s a swing and a foul by Bailey. off to the right and it reaches back and off the railing in front of the second deck. Hops down below. Two down. Nobody on. Three nothing. The Royals lead. There’s a fast ball up and away. One and one the count. 3:45 is game time, Pacific time for the Friday night game in Washington. Uh there’s a ball down and in right toward his back foot. A slider almost hit him. The count is two and one. The Monway Jr. on deck and there are no projected rotations for either team for that series in Washington right now. Here’s a change up in for a strike. Now it’s two and two. I’m not sure the last time he threw a a fast ball here. The wind up two-2 pitch very that’s a fast ball and he missed badly high and outside and a three and two count just plotting ahead and looking maybe Jake Irvin Mike Sroa and Mitchell Parker as the pitchers the Giants will face 3-2 pitch inside he walked him good work there by Bailey to lay off and here comes Lamont way Jr. Jun Lynch the left-hander out of the bullpen in 20 previous games had pitched 21 innings. And there’s a called strike in the outside and he got the the wide strike there that we were talking about. Here it is. low with a fast ball. Wade does not often face lefties, but I’m sure that’s the reason why Lynch is still in there. Bolan started warming up at the start of this inning. He’s ready. One-1 pitch. Look out. Way inside and he had to jump away from that one. Two and one the count. Bolan continues to heat up in the bullpen. the right-hander. The right-handed hitting Ramos is on deck. The Giants down three nothing. Runner at first. 2-1 pitch. And that’s too high. Three and [Music] one. Giants have only one hit against Lynch so far. Wilmer Flores got that 3-1 pitch inside. That almost hit him. Ball four. 40th pitch thrown by Lynch. And that probably will be it. And here comes the manager Cataro out of the mound or out to the mound. And he has already given the call to the bullpen for the right-hander Bolan. Two men on for the Giants. Three walks in these first two innings allowed by Daniel Lynch. Things like those selfies from last weekend’s party stay between you and your bestie because on WhatsApp, your personal messages are yours. No one else can see or hear them, not even us. WhatsApp. Message privately with everyone. This is Giants baseball on KNBR 1045 and 680. Three nothing Kansas City. Third inning and Dave Fleming. A ball that was smoked but foul from Salvador Perez against Logan Webb here to start the third 110 mph. It jumped off his bat. Sounded like it, that’s for sure. And it was. Here’s a swing and a ball topped foul. That was a cutter from Web. Logan’s just off. Six hits for the Royals already. Now, all of them have been singles, but several of them have been hard hit. He also has four strikeouts. The O2 is hit to center field. And that’s another hit. And another two strike hit. The one that started the whole rally last inning was in an 02 count. He couldn’t put Massie away. And Al Perez down 02. Just lines one into center field. You can hear I I imagine you could hear in our microphones Logan Webb’s frustration with another hit allowed. That’s seven for the Royals. A long way to go in this game, but Logan’s got to figure this out. The pitch down and away to Mark Cana with a slider. He struck out Canaa. Web did back in the first inning. Kenn has had some success against Logan in the pass. He’s hit two home runs against him. Now he swings. It’s a popup shallow right. I say shallow. It’s carrying out to medium deep right field. Yostreky underneath it and catches it. So that’s big first down. One away and the batter will be Drew Waters. While we’re gone there, there’s some stuff happening while we’re on the uh the road trip. This a long road trip. Giants are going to DC, Detroit, and Miami. Here’s a liner into right field. Base hit. Waters first pitch swinging. Man, this is sort of stunning. Logan Webb, who’s been arguably the best pitcher in the National League this year. We’re two innings and one out into this game. He’s given up eight hits and he’s just shaking his head. He doesn’t know what’s going on. Giants are going to have to start, I think, considering some other options today. Not that Logan can’t get out of it. He can get a ground ball. You get the catcher, Freddy Firmine, as the hitter here, but he just looks a guy like a guy who does not have his sharpness today. First pitch almost hits Fermy in a change up runs way inside for ball one. on his show before the game. Bob Melvin did allow us how the Giants bullpen’s a little short for this game. They’re they’re not ready to have to have some long reliever. Here’s a fly ball shallow right. Yreky coming in and he’ll catch it right near the foul line. Both Wade and Fitzgerald were out there in the neighborhood, but Yas called him off. That’s a big second. Now, let’s see if Web can get through this third inning and at least set himself up to give the Giants some length. So, this is a big moment in this game. Michael Massie, the hitter for lots of reasons. Giants trying to stay close. Giants trying to keep from going into their bullpen early. First pitch to Massie. He swings and misses. The fast ball running away. Strike one. Massie had that O2 single and then scored a run last inning. One in the first, two in the second. Two on, two out here in the third. The pitch is up and away with a sinker. Everything up. He Web’s just the command is just not there for Logan. Very unusual to see. Here’s his 1-1 pitch. Massie bounces it to second. Nice high hop for Fitzgerald who throws him out. And at least that’s something for Logan Webb. He still looks really frustrated as he walks off the mound. Two more hits, but this time no runs. Midway through three. It’s Chapman, Lee, and Flores. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith corks one in right down the line. It may go. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. It’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the score of three to two and a home run by the Wizard. How crazy. Catch the next unforgettable call on the MLB app and MLB.com. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it means? [Music] Oppo Taco, a home run hit to the opposite field. Austin Hayes with an oppo taco, his 13th, and it’s a one-run game. Expand your vocabulary by listening to every game on the MLB app and MLB.com. Take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following. I really don’t know what to say. I’m just uh so happy I gave something. These people cheer. We all did. First take from Leaf of Temper Adapt starting at $27 per month. Only at Sleep World. This is Miller and Fleming on KNBR FM and AM. Sports leader Pat Matt Chapman leads off for the Giants against the right-handed reliever Bolan. And Chapman takes a slider for a called strike. The Royals leading the Giants nothing. They’re out hitting the Giants 8-1 so far. Here’s the pitch and Chapman takes just off the outside. One ball, one strike to count. This guy bowling, he we’ve seen him now quite a bit already in this series. He’s been up and down between Triple A and the big leagues. One pitch. That one is a strike. A slider at the knees. Got the low strike there. It’s one and one. Royals are like the Giants. They have a lot of pitching depth. So, they’ve got some some quality pitchers waiting in the wings. They just released a few days ago a former Giant Chris Stratton who had been struggling a bit. Here’s a swing on a high drive left field. This one hit well and it is gone into the bleachers. Matt Chapman a towering home run to left. His ninth home run of the year. The Giants are on the board. Three to one Royals. That’s good to see. Chapman took yesterday off, a very rare day off for him. And so far this afternoon, he’s drawn a walk and hit a homer. We’ll see if that can be a little igniter for this Giants offense, which has been so relatively quiet all week despite winning a bunch of games. Here’s a fast ball dropped by the catcher Fine, but called the strike anyway. Right on the outside corner at 97 to Jung Hu Lee. Lee, part of the reason the Giants offense has been quiet, he’s gone quiet. 274 average. Still having a good year, but it’s been a a slow few weeks for him. Takes this one off the outside. Even with that, he’s he’s still come up with some big hits. He had one of the biggest hits last night, an RBI single. in the Giants 3-2 win last night. The 1-1 pitch off the outside, two- one. Giants are trying to win this game, win this series, go six and three on the home stand, but they’re trailing three to one. Two-1 pitch. That one is off the outside. Another fast ball. Three and one. And I give Jung Hu Lee credit. He got the the hitter unfriendly call to start the atbat. He looked a little discouraged. Bolan went right back in that same neighborhood. A little farther outside and Lee wouldn’t chase. Now a pitch right on the corner again. Man, that’s just perfectly executed. Three and two. See if Bolan stays out there. Get a full count. Three and two. The pitch. Lee pulls one into right field. Base hit. Pass a dive of Perez. Hustling around first, digging for second. Lee speeding in there and he’ll slide in safely with a hustle double. The Royals right fielder Drew Waters got to the ball before it went to the wall, cut it off, spun around and threw back in, but it was too late. Jung-ho Lee, that was nicely done cuz he hit it hard. 99 miles an hour, but not so hard that it went all the way to the wall. He was thinking extra bases the whole way and really made it without a problem into second. So the Giants a home run and now a double. Here’s Wilmer Flores. Three to one Royals. The pitch is swung on to miss. Wilmer was late. 98 mph fast. 0 and one to count. Flores who had a base hit his first time up the DH again today and batting cleanup for the Giants. [Music] The pitch. Wilmer fouls it off to the right. A fast ball at 97. And now he’s down to the count. 0 [Music] [Applause] and2. At the very least, Wilmer would like to get Lee from second to third. You know, two strike count. Maybe a little harder to be honed in on a pitch where you know you can do that. Adamus waiting on deck. The O2 is fouled off to the right. Fast ball again up and away. That was almost Mason Miller style. The memorable at bat, maybe the most memorable. Wilmer had a three home run game on this home stand, but his at bat against Mason Miller was just an all-time classic. And he was doing a lot of that except for instead of 98, it was 104. Still 0 and2 the pitch. He takes down and away. He was doing that, too. I pretty well executed two strike slider. That one didn’t miss by a whole lot. [Music] So Wilmer Flores trying to come through again. 10 home runs, 42 runs batted in the pitch. He hits a high fly ball to left coming in. Cana, he will get there and make the catch. Battling the bright sunshine and Lee went halfway. No chance to tag on that. So he went halfway and he’ll scramble back to second. Not this time for Wilmer Flores, although still made Bolan earn that. Here’s Adamus. Still have two more cracks to get another run home. Adamus, who flyed out with two on and two out in the first inning, 0 for one, had a big triple in last night’s game. Here’s the pitch off the inside. Ball one. Thomas has swung the bat better at home than on the road, which it’s not often that a Giants player says that just because this is such a pitcher friendly ballpark. Lee leads away from second base. Bowling the right-hander checks him now throws. Adamus takes high. Two and0. Yreky on deck. Anel Zerpa left-hander in the bullpen. So this could be it for Bowlolan with Yaz waiting to come up. 20 Adamus big swing and miss on a slider. He was bailing out on that swing trying to open up and launch [Music] it. Two and one. Giants trail three to one. Here’s the pitch. Adamus foul tips this one and it knocked a piece of equipment off the catcher Fermine. Another slider. Two and two. Bat boy’s going to pick that guard up and hand it to Fairz. It’s the It’s the shoulder pad that kind of attaches to the chest protector. I guess it did its job. Well, that was a slider. I mean, it was a slider that was up and out over the plate for me. Can’t get that shoulder pad reattached, so he just tosses it aside. I guess if it happens again, it’s like too bad. I would think you would you would want that thing. Two and two. Yremsky waiting on deck. Adamus waiting for the two- two pitch. Here it comes. He hits it. Foul straight back. That was a high fast ball. Triple yesterday for Adamus. Went to right center field. Outfield straightaway against him here. 3-1 Royals. Third inning. The pitch. Adamus takes low. A change up this time. He’s worked the count full. Three and two. I mean, a walk would be a good play even if you get the the move and the new pitcher in to get the left on left matchup. Put more pressure on the Royals. Three and two. Here it is. And Adam chases a slider down and away. He just wouldn’t take the walk. Strikes out swinging. Two down. And now comes up and let’s see. That is uh the pitching coach, not the manager. They’ve got the left-hander Zerpa up in the bullpen. He’s been up for a while. And you would have thought maybe for Yaz, but now with first base open, maybe they feel like they don’t need to with another right-handed hitter right behind them. Yeah, I mean that’s what I was we we were just talking about that about what a big at bat it was for Adamus to avoid putting it all on Ystrek’s shoulders left on left just assuming they were going to make the move but obviously they’re not going to. So now we’ll see what the Royals want to [Music] do. Jordan Baker the home plate umpire comes back behind home plate. So, Ystreky gets to face Poland. 3-1 Royals. Last of the third. There’s a long way to go in this game. Here’s the pitch. Stressky. Very generous strike there for the pitcher. Couple inches off the outside corner. Called strike one. And it was up two. Yas grounded out his first time up against the lefty Lynch who started the game. Bullpen day for Kansas City. Here it comes. And Ystreky hits a popup on the left side. Garcia fighting the bright sunshine. Whit will call and catch it. So he bailed out Garcia who was having a real hard time. And the Giants get only the one. Chapman with a home run, but then Jung Hulie was at second with nobody out and they couldn’t get him home. Giants will take the one. We go to the fourth. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith courts one into right down the line. It may go. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. It’s a home run. That’s my quote today in as little as 6 minutes at progressivecommercial.com. This is Giants baseball on KNBR 1045 and 680. Coming to you live from the Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth. Giants are on the board. Fourth inning, 3 to one Kansas City. Kyle Isbel takes a strike from Logan Webb who had a long rest in between innings as the Giants got a run and also had a chance for more. We had some mound visits. Habis Law mound visits. A drag bunt by Isbel and it’s kicked by Wade who came in to field it and didn’t field it cleanly. It popped in the air and Isbel’s safe. Well, Isbel is fast and he was putting some pressure on Lamont to make that play. But if he scoops it up cleanly like we expected him to, that’s going to be an out. So Wade will be charged with an error. And that’s a leadoff base runner for the Royals. More stress for Logan Webb has been nothing but in this game right from the very beginning. And the guy who’s two for two against him already stands in. Garcia taking down low a slider for ball one. I mean that’s huge. That that changes the whole feel of the inning for a guy who’s hit the ball hard twice. Two for two. And Bobby Whit Jr. on deck. The pitch. That one off the outside with another slider. Two and0. You can understand Webb is feeling like this guy Mikel Garcia is seeing him too well. He does not look all that eager to to challenge him. The 200. That one’s in for a strike. A change up. Even that pitch did not go where he wanted it to go. It ended up coming down and in. Two-1 pitch is popped foul off to the right out of play. Two and two. That was a good slider right on the outside corner. K-pop while we’re gone here at Oracle Park one week from today. The band is called Stray Kids. Their Dominate North America Tour is coming to San Francisco Wednesday, May 28th. You can be in the seats, you can be on the field, you can be in a suite. sfgiants.com/straykids. I have to ask Jung-H whether he’s a fan. Here’s a ground ball back to Web. He thought about going to second, now spins around and lobbs one over to first and gets Garcia. I don’t know if he just couldn’t get a grip on the ball or what, but Webb, instead of starting what looked to be a double play, it was a comebacker right to him, only gets one out. And at that, he he barely got it. He he just he just was hesitant to throw to second. I mean, Fitzgerald, it’s not like Fitzgerald could have gotten there any faster. He was hustling to to get over and cover. So, another weird play. Runner at second. And Webb got lucky to get Garcia. Garcia, if he’d been running harder, he would have been safe at first base after all that hesitating. Here’s the pitch. Whit lines one into the gap in left center field. That’s another hit. And that’s going to be a run. Lee hustles over and cuts it off. He’ll throw to second. It’s going to be late. Coming around and scoring is Isbel. And the inability to get that lead runner immediately turns into a run for the Royals. It’s four to one. So, Isbel reached on an error in the first place and then the Giants were given a chance to turn a double play. Couldn’t do it. So, just a sloppy inning here. Royals get that run right back. And Wits in scoring position for Pasquantino. It’s called strike over the outside. Bobby Witz got more doubles than anybody in baseball. That was his 19th. Pasquantino hits a foul. And he’s a guy who’s who’s born to hit doubles. He’s so fast. He’s he can turn what looks like a single off the bat into a double. The Jungle Lee played that last one well and Whit made it to second easily. Pascantino fouls this one off to the left out of play. Still 0 and2. Speaking of concerts, there’s going to be a postgame concert. So, not while we’re gone. While we’re here, the Red Sox will be in town for some inner league play. The pitch swing and a miss. He got him. Pascino goes down. out number two. That’s the fifth strike out for Logan Web. Saturday, June 21st, everybody who’s here at the ballpark, you can stay. A City Connect concert featuring country musician Nate Smith. You can upgrade with a field pass if you’d like, or just stay in your seats and watch the concert. Here’s a swing and a ball topped foul. [Music] SFGs.com/natemith. I’ll have to ask my brother if he’s a fan of Nate. He’ll be here for the Red Sox series. The pitch just a little bit high. One and [Music] one. 4-1 Kansas City. Fourth inning. This be the 75th pitch for Logan Webb. He throws and a highf fly ball hit to right and carrying well going back ontoky looking up. It’s gone. Oh my goodness. Salvador Perez way up in the air out to right center field and up over the big wall. A two-run homer and Webb just looks stunned as Perez rounds the bases. It’s six to one Kansas City. You don’t see right-handed hitters go there very often and hit it out. [Music] So, the Giants finally got a run. I say finally, they’ve had chances in every inning. They got one in the bottom of the third. And here the Royals are in the top of the fourth. They’ve scored three times. Cana takes a strike. It’s 0 and one. Been a long time since Salvador Perez had hit a home run. It’s his third of the year. Ground ball to short. Adamus has it and he throws to first for the out. Three more runs though for Kansas City. Midway through four. It’s 6 to1 Royals on the K&BR. Northern California. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith courts one in right down the line. It may go. Now, back to the orange and black on KNBR1045 and 680. [Music] Well, the Giants have to be just a little stunned with the way this game has played out. Feeling very confident coming into today and they’re down six to one. Bottom four, still a ways to go in this game. See if they can bounce back after a tough top tough top of this inning. First pitch swing, Tyler Fitzgerald gets jammed and hits a one hopper to short fielded by Bobby Wit who throws him out. So, the very first pitch of the game thrown by Steven Cruz just in from the bullpen and it’s an out. 21st out of the game ended the top of this fourth inning sponsored by 21st Amendments. Hell or high watermelon wheat beer. Summer in a can. 17th appearance of the year for Steven Cruz. He’s been really good. 1.26 erra. It’s a bullpen day for the Royals and so far so good. Spencer Bivvens warming up in the Giants pen. Here’s a ball. I think we’ve seen the last of Logan Webb. Not his day. And just extremely unusual for Web to have a game like this, especially at home. 10 hits in four innings. Here’s a drive by Patrick Bailey out to right center field and deep. Isbell at the wall and he leaps. It’s gone. Patrick Bailey his first home run of the year. He kind of just snuck it right over the shorter wall, the 7 foot high wall that is in front of the Kansas City bullpen, just to the right of straightaway center field. And it’s six to two. You knew he hit it very well. Isbel was sprinting back knowing he might have a chance on that ball. If it had hit the top of the wall just to the left, which is a couple feet higher, then it might have stayed in play, but instead it snuck over that shorter wall. And that’s a home run for Bailey. Here’s strike one to Lamont Wade. Well, that’s a good sign. It’s been a long and sort of torturous start to the year for Bailey at the plate where he’s been fighting it all the way through. Now, a ball bounced in the dirt. Count is one and one. And that must feel good. His first home run. Wade only has his one home run. He’d like to to get that power bat going a little bit. He’d just take hits any way he can get him. Takes one outside. Ball two. And again, we got a lot of game left. Giants feeling a little down and out, but it’s only the fourth inning. Now a swing and a miss. 99 mph fast ball. Two and [Music] two. Here’s the pitch way outside. Full count. Three and two. So Spencer Bivvens continues to warm up in the bullpen. All three of the runs the Royals scored in the top of this fourth inning will be unearned to Logan’s record. 3-2 Wade fouls it back. 98 mph fast up. Lamont’s been taking a few more walks. his on base average. I mean, it seems so low by his standards, 276, but it is more than 100 points higher than his batting average. So, really, the walks have been there mostly in the way that they usually are. It’s it’s the hits that have not been. Three and two. Here it comes. Wade fouls this one back. That was a slider at 92. It was up, but a different kind of movement. And Wade just hit a foul. She’s battling with Cruz. Three and two the pitch. That’s outside ball four. So Lamont draws the walk and that turns the lineup over. So Bailey’s home run now. A walk to Wade. Bailey and Lamont have not made an out between the two of them. Three walks and a homer in their four trips to the plate. The bottom of the order is done. its job. Now Elliot Ramos, who’s having a quiet game, and that hasn’t happened much lately. He’s 0 for two. He’s been redhot, takes this one right down the middle, a 97 mph fast ball. Strike one. Elliot’s average for the year, 290. Got eight home runs, 24 batted in. He’s had a great month. A one pitch. Ramos base hit into right field. just kind of punched that one through. Wade to second. He’ll stop there. And the Giants showing some life on offense these last couple innings. Chapman had a homer in the third and Lee had a double in the third. And now here in the fourth, homer, walk single in succession. Two, one out. Six-2 Kansas City. But they’re going to convene a Habis Law Mound visit, which is convenient for us because we need to pause for station identification on the K&BR Northern California Honda dealers radio network. This is Giants baseball. Nothing. Matt Chapman, the hitter. Six-2 Kansas City. Two on, one out. The pitch. Chapman takes just high. A slider ball one. Chapman has walked and homerred so far today. Looking revitalized after his day off yesterday. It’s a big at bat in this game. The pitch Chapman hits a high really just a popup down the right field line coming in quickly. Waters near the line, makes the catch and everybody has to hold. So not this time for Chapman. Retired for the first time today. Two down and up comes Jung Hu Lee. Really, it’s more like the big situation here for the Giants. So they don’t get it done on that at bat, but still have a chance here with Jung Hu Lee. Just to let the Royals know they’re not going down quietly today. behind six-2. Lee who has a double is one for two. Got Wilmer Flores on deck. Cruz comes set. Two on, two out. Here’s the pitch. Very high with a 99 mph [Music] fast. Le double came his last time up against a guy who throws hard, Jonathan Bolan. One pitch off the outside, a fast ball. Two and0. If Jungu Lee draws a walk, then Wilmer would come up with the bases loaded. Top RBI man in the National League. Lee hasn’t taken a ton of walks this year. Ahead of the count, 2 and0. Now Cruz steps off. And I think that’s for Jungle Le. is always, I think, going to be an aggress. He wants to swing the bat. That’s just his style of hitting, but being willing to take a few more walks would be a nice next step. He goes around. That was a slider down in a 20- count. He tried to hold up and couldn’t do it. So, instead of 3 and 0, it’s two- one. Left-handed hitter against the righty Steven Cruz. Wade the runner at second. Ramos the runner at first. the pitch off the outside. Three and one. This be interesting. Cruz not commanding the fast ball. See if he goes back to the slider in a 3-1 count. The pitch way inside and it almost hit Lee. It goes to the back stop. So that’s ball four. Firm mean has to chase it to the back stop to make sure that Wade didn’t just keep going. So Lee draws the walk. The Giants have the bases loaded for Wilmer Flores. And we know Wilmer already has a grand slam on this home stand. That would be pretty rare. I don’t think there have been too many Giants in the history of Oracle Park who’ve hit two grand slams in the same week here at home. Bases loaded, two down. Six to2 Kansas City first pitch. And Wilmer hits it. Foul. He went after a first pitch slider right on the outside corner. Strike one. So another opportunity for the Giants here. They’ve they have not been short on opportunity today. Giants. This is their seventh at bat with a runner in scoring position. Wilmer pulls one. Foul down the left field line. He hit it hard but fouled. 0 and2 just a little too quick. Giants are 0 for six in these kind of at bats so far today. But a chance to get right back in this game. Base is loaded, two down, trailing six-2. And now Flores is going to use his timeout. Problem for Wilmer is he’s as good a two- strike hitter as he is. He’s down 02 here to a guy who’s got really good stuff. Cruz the two strike pitch on the way. Flores lines it to center field and it’s going to be caught by Isbel racing in and going into a slide. He catches it and saves a couple of runs. Just another really nice swing by Flores. This time nothing to show for it. Giants do get the Patrick Bailey home run, but they take a hack at guessing which baseball player John Miller Waters batting left-handed and he takes up and away for ball One. Waters is struck out and singled. Fermine is on deck. 10 pitch line down the left field line. That’s going to be in there for a base hit right near the foul line and ricochets into the corner and bounces off the edge of that sidewall down there over to pick it up. Ramos as Waters goes into second with a double. The Royals have 11 hits now. We’re just starting the fifth inning. [Music] Bros have 23 official at bats in the game and 11 hits. They’ve had five hits in 11 at bats with runners in scoring position. So, here is Fairine and the right-handed hitter looks at a called strike a 95 mph fast belt high. The Giants, on the other hand, sort of on the the opposite side of things. The Giants have left eight runners on base in four innings. And there’s a base hit to left field. Another hit for the runner in scoring position. He hooked it right through the hole. A slider and Fairmine gets his first hit. Fairine had been one of only two Royals not to have a hit so far. The other is Mark Cana. But now he’s got one. So is the only one. But here is Michael Massie. Runners at first and third. Royals now six for 12. And they’re advanced with runners in scoring position at second or third or both. Infield double play depth. And there is a called strike on the inside. Massie has singled, stolen a base and scored a run. And he is grounded out to second. The Giants no hits in seven at bats with runners in scoring position. Now the one strike offering swing and a high foul off the third base side. Back out of play and to the Giants have left five runners on base that were in scoring position and part of that first couple of innings they didn’t get anybody into scoring position till there were two down. Now the O2 pitch, line drive, base hit to left field. Scoring from third is Waters and Fairmine over to second and holding. And that makes it 7 to2 Kansas City. Man, they’ve they’ve been bunching them together. That is the third time in this game that they’ve had three consecutive hits. I don’t know. They have not had any inning yet with fewer than two hits in the inning. So, runners at first and second, Fairmine at second and Massie at first. Here is Isbel. He has had a single and reached on an error his last time. He drops a bunt down in the third base side. Quickly out to get it is Bailey and he turns and throws him out at first. The runners advance on the sacrifice. Fairine to third and Massie to second. Oh, hit off the dirt out in front of the plate. Took a couple of bounces along the third base side. So now runners at second and third and it’s already 7-2 Royals. The infield draws in for Muel Garcia and he takes a called strike. A fast ball right in there with some cut to it. 0 and one. The Royals with two more hits with runners in scoring position in this city. Now seven for 13 in those critical advances. There’s a foul out of play off to the right. 0 and two the count. But Bobby Wit Jr. on deck. The big hitters up right now for the Royals. Garcia who’s hitting 316 and has two hits in this game. Here it comes. Swing and he hammers one high and deep left center field back into his left. Still going and more towards center as the wind carries it and Ramos makes the catch out near the 399 sign tagging up from third. Fairmine 8-2 Royals. Also tagging up and moving to third is Massie. So here is Bobby Whit Jr. That’s the second out of the inning. Two runs in. Royals got a run in the first, two in the second, three in the fourth, and now two more so far in the fifth inning. Two down, runner at third. Bobby Wit Jr. has been productive today with the bat. He takes a called strike. 95 mph sinker in there. Whit got a base hit his first time. hit a sacrifice fly in the second and then hit a double to knock a run in the fourth. Now he swings and misses. That was a high cutter and the count is 0 and two. Bivbons the right-hander. Bobby Wit Jr. 308 average for the year. Now time is taken. On to the count. Aquentino on deck. Royals eight Giants to 13 hits for the Royals in this game. Two strike pitch very high with a fast ball. So Spencer Bivvens. The Jets could use some length out of him today. This is his 15th appearance of the year. But it has not started well for him. Two runs are in. A runner at third. Two down. Now the one-two pitch. Swing. Ground ball to short. Charged quickly by Adamos on the run. The throw to first in time to get the fleefooted wit. Nice play there. Inning over. But two more runs, three more hits. Eight to two. Off base is coming in a brand new form. [Music] Go find a place where you can’t be the victim and come back when you’re older. [Music] Go with your broken bones and be wild. [Music] Wow. Heat. [Music] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Music] This is your colors But it’s [Music] [Applause] okay. Come back when you’re older. Go find a place where you can’t be the victim. [Applause] [Music] trailing eight to two and Adamus takes a fast ball on the inside corner at 97 mph from Cruz. Strike one. Adamus is fly out to left center and struck out and he takes down the way. Now Adamus, he’s had a lot of base runners out there in his at bats. He came up with runners at first and third and two down in the first and fly out. There was a runner at second and one out when he came up in the third and struck out. Now he takes a called strike. The slider at the top of the zone at 89 m an hour. This guy, he’s big and he throws hard. That was an 89 mph slider. Now he misses up and away at 98 mph with a fast ball. Cruz is 6′ 7 in tall. Just a huge presence out there. Really hard [Music] thrower. Two and two pitch high and tight. 3 and2. That one moved Adamus back 97 mph. He came into this game with a 1.76 RA. The Giants have a run against him already. 3-2 pitch. Fouled back to the screen. That was a fast ball right down the heart of the plate, but at 97 mph. Chance have hit two home runs. Chapman hit one leading off to third and Bailey hit one with one out and the base is empty in the fourth. Three and two to Adamus and he’s hits a ground ball right to the second baseman. Massiey’s got it over to first. One away. Number five, my is grounded out to second and popped out to short. 8-2 Kansas City the pitch and a fast ball on the outside for a called strike. Eight runs and 13 hits for the Royals. Now Yas pops it up. Foul and back out of play, including seven hits with runners in scoring position in 14 at [Music] bats for the for the whole game. They’re hitting 500. 13 hits, 26 at bats. So why not with runners in square position as well? Lot of hit. That’s five innings they have 13 hits. Now he has takes high for a ball. Could Could you make out on the radio how my head was spinning as I said that? I could see it. One, two, pitch. Fouled back to the screen. You didn’t know I was coming with sound effects today? Oh, that was good. That cuz that’s that’s what I was hearing. Yeah. 13 for 26 for the whole game. What? One ball and two strikes. One out, nobody on. The pitch on the way. Little tapper off the first base side of the mount. Over to get it is Cruz. And he goes most of the way over to first before underhanding the ball to Salvi Perez for the out. By the way, Perez hit that long home run to the opposite field. They said he was the 79th hitter in the history of this ballpark. This is the 26th year of games here. So, it’s an average of three per year to hit one over anywhere out in right field as a right hand right-handed hitter. There’s a called strike on the inside to Tyler Fitzgerald who’s grounded out twice. And he hit it way out of here. He not just over the right field wall, but out more toward right center. Now swinging a miss. Tyler chased the slider down and away and it’s 0 and two. Giants have five hits and none with runners in scoring position. Eight 0 for seven in those at bat. They’ve had opportunities though where they wouldn’t even have needed necessarily a hit to get a run home and have not been able to do any of that. And there’s a ball too low. Just one of those days. One and two the count. Giants trailing 8-2. Now the pitch and it’s off the outside. If if you tuned in as we were going through that litany of wo and then I gave the score you might have thought, oh 8 to2 sounded like it was 27 to nothing [Laughter] orers. Two and two the count. And here it comes low and outside. Three and two. That’s what we’re good at. Set an expectation level to where everybody’s Oh, it’s great. Surely only eight to two. That’s fine. Patrick Bailey on deck. He homerred his last time. 3-2 pitch. Swinging a miss. He struck him out and he got it to chase a fast ball off the outside there. Get it all out of your system today. We go to the six. Great. Need no help. That’s no help. That’s me. No help. No help. That’s me. No help. That’s me. No help. That’s me. Another one. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. No. Help me. No help. Help me. No. No. Help me. No help. Help me. All right. Is ball one to Vinnie Pasquantino from Spencer Bibons. Bibbons, the right-hander, facing my cousin Vinnie, the left-handed hitter. The pitch now, and it’s bounced foul back behind the plate. The passatch. Is that what they call? That’s what they call him. Well, he’s a big guy. They Their star player, Bobby Whit Jr. is such a dynamic player. Powerful, speedy, average, steals, you name it. Great shortstop. There’s a ground ball to second and fielded cleanly there by Fitzgerald. He throws out Pasquatch, but he’s not a big guy. Pasquantino, he’s a big [Music] guy, but he’s gone. About to get it did him there. So, one down here is Salvi Perez. Perez had gone 31 games without a home run. Second longest stretch without a home run in his career. Second long. I’m going with a homerless stretch of his career. And he takes a called strike. A cutter in there. Belledveled high. He hit a long two-run homer in the fourth inning to the opposite field. Not the easiest way to break out of a homer homerless streak in this ballpark. Soft ground ball to third. Charged by Chapman on the run. Snaps the throw to first. Got him. So Perez is gone. He’s not two for four. And here comes Mark Cannon, the only Royal to start the game who has not had a hit. Two down, nobody on. But Pascino, he is he’s huge and he’s the guy on a team that doesn’t have a whole lot of power. The home run hit by Salvi Perez. There’s a called strike out of Canon. only the 32nd home run hit this year by the Royals. This is their 51st game. They’re on a pace right now to hit fewer than 100 home runs for the whole year. Although that’s a pace. There’s a swing, a line drive foul. Look out. Third base coach Vance Wilson had to uh do a couple of uh dance moves to get out of the way of that one. looked like he was auditioning for a Broadway musical there for a moment. Cana has struck out, fly out to right center and grounded out to short. 02 pitch very [Music] high. Taylor Clark, a right-hander warming up in the Kansas City bullpen. We’re in the sixth and the Royals are leading the Giants 8-2. Here’s Bibbons throwing swing in a foul tip, but it is up on the ground. So, he is still alive. That one got a piece of Giants catcher Patrick Bailey. The umpire Jordan Baker walks out to the bound with the new ball for Bibbons. And he’s giving Bailey a chance to shake off the pain of that foul ball that got him. I’m not sure where it got him. Royals ahead 8 to2. They’ve had at least two hits in every inning of this game up till now, but now they have two down and nobody on. What’s going on? Here’s the one-two pitch and it’s in the dirt with a slider. Two and two. Now the Royals have gone ice cold now, haven’t they? Really tough inning for the Royals guys to broadcast, isn’t it? Yeah, they’re probably down. Third batter of the inning already and they haven’t had a single hit. Here’s the stretch. Here’s the pitch. Oh, foul off his left foot. Ouch. Can is one of the premier gourmes and foodies in Major League Baseball. He used to have maybe he still does. He used to have a an Instagram account, something like a I don’t know MLB foodie or whatever where he would offer up reports on great restaurants as he traveled. Now a little ground ball past the mound toward the middle far to his left goes to the shortstop. Here’s the throw to first. It was going to be too late anyway and it skips on by Wilmer rather Lamont Way Jr. and into the dugout. So, Cana safe at first and he’ll move over to second. I I thought he was probably going to be called safe, although it was going to be close. Had a chance, but the what happened was Wade was trying to keep his foot on the bag. He stretched out toward right field and then never got a glove on the ball. The ball kind of sailed on him, I think. Now, a swing. There’s a drive into right field by Drew Waters. Shallow. In comes Yaz and he’s got it. The inning is over and the Royals. Let’s see if we can figure out the following. Hey hey hey. Hey He [Music] [Music] hey boom p hey, hey, [Music] [Music] hey. [Music] Jump down jump. [Music] and the Royals go to their bullpen once again. And why wouldn’t they? It’s a bullpen game. Taylor Clark comes in now. His sixth outing of the year in the big leagues. Clark from the stretch. Well, I thought it was the stretch. Then he all of a sudden started into a windup. Well, it looked like he was in a set position. And there’s ball one to Patrick Bailey. He has walked and homered. He hit one into the visiting bullpen to the right of straightaway center. His last time. Now he swings and misses. And looked like he was trying to do it again, but he got a change up there from Clark. [Music] Clark, another big guy, 6′ 4 in tall, 32 years old, and he misses low for a ball. He was used to be with the Arizona Diamondbacks. They drafted him 10 years ago. Broke into the big leagues with the Dbacks in 2019. Two and one pitch and a chopper up the first base side just goes fouled. [Music] Taylor Clark is the fourth pitcher of the game for Kansas [Applause] City. Giants have two home runs and that’s also the number of runs they have scored. Two solo homers the pitch. Bailey hits a foul out of play off to the left. The Giants annual Pride Day will be Saturday, June 7th. Enjoy celebrations and festivities honoring the LGBTQ plus community. The first 20,000 fans received a pride bucket hat presented by Gilead. Here’s the pitch inside. Way off the inside. He had to jump out of the way of it. Full count. Three and two. Lamont Way Jr. on [Applause] deck. 3-2 pitch swing and a fly ball into center. Going quickly back and to his right is Isbel. And on the warning track near the Giants bullpen, he makes the catch. Is really carrying well out there today. One out. There’s ball one to Lamont Way Jr. He’s been up twice and walked both [Music] times. Cubs beat Miami two to one. Now there’s a called strike in the inside to Wade. One and one the count. Brad Keller got the win for the Cubs in that [Music] game and a save by Palencia. Now here’s a called strike. One and one the count. Giants will be in Miami a week from Friday. But then the Dodgers scored three times in the bottom of the 11th and won it anyway. 3-2 pitch. Hard ground ball right to the third baseman. Mel Garcia’s got it and throws him out. What did I say? I mean, Hicks went immediately went for the ball. I don’t know that Bailey, the catcher, even saw it. Then Wade came over from first base and then finally it was Chapman who caught it and he was right next to all those other guys. Weird but effective. Maybe that was it. I think I think we just let Chabin catch it. But here’s Pasquantino and he takes ball. What is he? Pasquatch. Yeah, the Pasquatch. You think he’s into that? Here’s a swing. Here’s Yaz who was grounded out to second, popped up to short and hit a comebacker. He’s 0 for three. Lefty versus lefty and he takes a called strike at the knees. I know this sounds weird and it’s not going to make anybody feel better and it shouldn’t, but there is a weird little note about today’s game. One strike pitch fouled off to the left. If you ask the Statcast computers that just look at purely look at launch angle and exit velocity to judge like the expected the hit expectancy of every batted ball. The Giants have a higher expected batting average today than the Royals do. That is weird. Here’s a foul out of play off to the left. I mean, when they’re being out hit 14 to five, it’s not like, oh, the Royals have 10 hits and the Giants have seven or something. Being out hit 14 to five, but the Giants expected batting average for the game is over 300. Now, the O2 pitch low and outside for a ball. And the the bat the actual batting average for five hits and 27 at bats is below 200. Yeah. Doesn’t that make you feel a whole lot better? Wild weird stuff there, Dave. Here’s the pitch now. And it’s foul into the batters box. One of two. Maybe there’s been a little element of getting unlucky today. They just had better luck. If they’d had better luck, does it does it weigh in on that? If they’d had really good luck and hit 300, then what would the score be? I’ll ask you this. A lot of people want to know. Here’s the one-two pitch up and away with a fast ball from Zerpa. Zerpa. Z E R P A. Two and two the count. Trying to get a station break in here, Dave. Here’s the two and two pitch fouled back to the screen. Here’s the 3-2 pitch. Bounced foul off to the right. Did you get some uh more uh projected kind of expected info? Giants would be leading this game 14-3 if things had gone as no. I the way they’ve hit the ball and the way the Royals hit it. Yeah, talk about unlucky. Here’s the three and two pitch. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. He got him to chase ball four up in the around the shoulders of Yas that time. Two down and here is Tyler Fitzgerald. Fans, get your squad together for a game here at Oracle Park. Here’s ball one to Tyler Fitzgerald. Yeah, with a expected score like that, it really you want to put a lot of into the, you know, that kind of statistics. Here’s a line drive base hit into left center field for Tyler Fitzgerald. And so he he badly wanted a hit there because he hadn’t had one today. He had grounded out twice and struck out once. But now he gets the hit and it was out of the reach of Bobby Whit. Whit ranged to his left and made a leap for it. He did everything he could to keep that hit from happening. Fitzgerald gets the hit. Now Bailey, he’ll bat right-handed here. He has a walk and a home run. and he takes inside ball one from Zerpa. Last of the eighth, eight to2 Kansas City leading the Giants. Six hits for the Giants now, whereas the Royals have 14 hits. Now there’s a called strike. Royals have seven of those 14 hits with runners in scoring position. The Giants have none. One and one the count and a swinging strike. He got a change up on the inside at the knees. Royals jumped out right away against Logan Web with a run in the first inning. Three straight hits to start the game and it really never changed. Here’s a swing. A little bouncer past the mound to second. Over near the bag to field it is Massie and he throws him out at first. One hit, one left. We go to the ninth inning now. Salvi Perez coming up with the Giants trailing eight to take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following. I really don’t know what to say. I’m just uh so happy I gave something. These people cheer. We all did. I mean, it was a great game. Both teams played incredible. It was a great game. That’s Mike Piaza after he hit an eighth inning go-ahead home run in the first New York Mets home game after 9/11. Here moments like this and more on the MLB app and MLB.com. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith Clark’s one to right down the line. It may go. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. It’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the score of 3 to2 and a home run by the Wizard. How crazy. Catch the next unforgettable call on the MLB app and MLB.com. Let’s see if you can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it means? [Music] Obo Taco, a home run hit to the opposite field. Austin Hayes with an oppo taco. His 13th and it’s a one-run game. Expand your vocabulary by listening to every game on the MLB app and MLB.com. [Music] savings you can count on. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 192. Pacifica, shout out to you for supporting KBR, Pacifica’s sports leader. We go to the ninth inning on a tough day for the Giants. The Giants have remarkable. Well, you look through the the season day by day, the Giants have been in almost every single game. And today is one of the few days where it just kind of feels like right from the start, the Giants been out of it. They’ve had some chances, but Eric Miller takes over. It’s 8-2 Royals in the ninth. Miller, the left-hander, throws a first pitch change up in there for a called strike to Salvi Perez. Perez hit his first home run in more than a month back in the fourth inning. Now he rips one down the left field line. Fyer just fair right along the line and it ricochets quickly into the left field corner right beneath the foul pole. Elliot Ramos picks it up and could be a hot streak coming on for Salvi Perez just as the Royals get ready to leave [Music] town. His third hit of the game including the homer and now this double. Perez, 35 years old, been around a long, long time. Here is Mark Cana, right-handed hitter, swings and lifts a high pop fly center field and out really out into medium center. Over toward left center goes Lee for the catch. So Kenna is promptly retired. He’s now one for five in the game. The call of the game, the Giants call of the game. We’ll give that to Matt Chapman’s home run in the third inning. At that time, that made it 3 to one Kansas City. The call of the game is sponsored by Ring Central. AI first communications you can trust. Now, a swing and a miss by Drew Waters. Waters has a single and a double. He’s two for four. Switch hitter batting right-handed and Miller delivers. And that ball uh and hits Waters who tried to check his swing. Then on the ricochet, it hit off of Giants catcher Patrick Bailey who jumped out of his crouch and in real pain kind of shaking his right hand or right arm around. Now, now let’s get this announcement. So, they’re going to uh I’m not sure what he said there at the beginning. Is this just an umpire’s caller or the Giants saying no? You you need to check it. I think he said the Giants are challenging. [Music] Okay, we just saw the replay the one time from one angle. I mean, I I could see where you could think it might have hit the knob of the bat, but it might have missed the knob and glanced off the barrel. So, they’re studying it at the Replay Center in New York City. The replay challenge is sponsored by Putnham Family dealerships. Car shopping driven by you. What do you think, Dave? I I I think that the ball did glance off the [Music] bat off the barrel of the bat. I don’t when you see with the centerfield camera. Yeah. But I don’t know if they see that in New York. Remember the call is that that it hit him cuz it also looks like it might have hit the forearm from that [Music] angle. I think this is one of the few calls where Oh, we’ll wait to get the word from after view. The call on the field is confirmed. The runner was hit. San Francisco will lose your challenge. Oh no. Now the Giants have no challenge left. And and Bob Melvin’s just totally baffled. I mean, I think he saw it the way you and I did. I or at least the way I did. I I thought it hit the bat, not not him, cuz they said it was confirmed, which is umpires speak for without question. We saw it and that’s the right call. Otherwise, they say it stands, which is umpires speak for uh we we couldn’t really tell one way or the other since the call was hit by the pitch. Then that stands. Here’s ball one inside to Freddy Fermine. One out, two men on the 10 pitch. Fairine. It’s a change up in for a called strike. So, the guy who really got hit by the pitch, who got drilled was Patrick Bailey after it hit either off the arm of Waters or hit his bat, one of the other. Here’s a fly ball along the right field line, streaking over into the corner goes Yaz. Then he squares up right in front of the 309 marker to make the catch. Nicely done in that right field corner. It’s only 309 ft for the foul pole down there. And it’s the kind of a day where a right-handed batter like Fairmine could take advantage of that shallow dimension. Winds blowing out in that direction. The ball carrying well to that side. Here’s Michael Massie. Two on, two out. And he takes a called strike. Massie has singled and scored a run. Grounded out. He has singled home a run and he is fly out to shallow right. He’s two for four. Only a 202 average though for the year. The pitch to him. Swinging a miss. He chased a slider down the way. Giants are trailing 8-2 to the Kansas City Royals. The Royals are headed to Minneapolis. They’ll have a day off in Minnesota tomorrow. 02 pitch down to the wave. Lucas Ersg, a right-hander, is warming up in the Kansas City bullpen, by the way. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins are trailing Cleveland 3 to one in Minnesota. Top of the eighth inning there. The scratch, the pitch very high for a ball. Minnesota won the completion of the suspended game six to five over Cleveland. Now the regularly scheduled game and they are trailing 3 to one. Top of the eighth. Cleveland has lost five in a row. Two-2 pitch right up the middle on the ground. Base hitter to center field. Coming around third, Salvi Perez up and throwing is the center fielder. The tag in time. Jung Hu Lee throws out Salvi Perez at the plate. The swipe tag applied by the Giants catcher Patrick Bailey. We’re seeing now great moments in baseball have been broadcast. [Music] Get the power face. Get the power. [Music] I’m a face. I’m a Mostly all Royals today. 8-2 bottom nine. So here’s Lamont Way Jr. and a 98 mph fast ball on the outside for a called strike. Zerpa pitched the eighth inning for Kansas City. Sixth pitcher of the game utilized. Now a swing and a drive into right field. And that is going to be off the glove of the right fielder Waters. He was ranging back into his left and he kind of jumped as he got to the warning track and it hit off the tip of his glove and went to the wall. So ends up being a single for Lamonte Jr. Very hard hit single out into right field and Waters has got great speed and great range. Almost caught it, but it just hit off the very tip of the glove. It was never in the pocket. Now a swing by Elliot Ramos and a foul out of play off to the [Music] right. Lamont hit that ball by the way at 103 mph. So he’s one for two with two walks, been on base three times. Now Ramos looks at one right down the middle of the plate. It’s been the kind of that’s happened a few times today to a few Giants hitters. They chase pitches but have taken some right down the heart of the plate. Now the pitch swing and he hits a high drive into deep left center field way back there and pilot. That one he launched and it’s the third home run of the game for the Giants. [Music] All of the Giants runs have been via the home run. Chapman and Bailey hit solos. And now Ramos with a two-run big fly. That was really impressive. Off his bat at 104 and a soaring shot into left center. Now Matt Chapman, look out. He has to lurch away from a high-tight fast ball. Ball one. 99 mph sinker there for Elliot Ramos. His ninth home run of the year. Now there’s a ball down in the way. [Music] Now here it is. Swinging a chopper on the ground to short wit. It almost shot right by him. He does field it though. Lunging to his left at the last and then he throws out Chapman at first. One away. [Music] Jung Hu Lee takes a strike. Lee has struck out, doubled, walked, and then he hit a line drive, but right to the right fielder his last [Music] time. Swinging the bat pretty well today though. One out, nobody on. And he takes low. A change up missing. Another hard throw. One thing’s for sure, every we’re seeing most of the Royals bullpen today. And these guys to a man, they throw hard. The 1-1 offering low inside for a ball. Two and [Music] one. 8 to four. The Giants are trailing last of the ninth. The pitch lee swing and it’s a high foul off the left field line. 99 mph fast ball following up a change up. He was very late on it. Three homers for the Giants today. They’ve hit 53 for the year now. They’ve hit 24 of them here. Two two pitch way outside with a fast ball again. 99 miles an hour. have hit 29 home runs on the road this year in 24 games, 24 homers at home. This is their 26th home game. 3-2 pitches high and outside. He walks [Applause] him. That’s the sixth walk the Giants have drawn today. Second for Lee. He’s been on base three times. And here comes Wilmer Flores. Now a Habis law mound visit. The pitching coach Brian Sweeney goes out joined by Fairine the the catcher. What do you think they’re talking about Dave? Come up with a theory on that, will you? Let’s uh refocus here, Lucas. Uh I know this isn’t going your way, but uh we believe in you. For God’s sakes, throw [Applause] strikes. Here is Wilmer Flores. He’s one for four, right-handed hitter. And a fast ball right in the inside corner for a called strike. I probably I probably wouldn’t be a great pitching coach cuz that would be more along the lines of Mike. Oh, you’d be you’d be a tough love guy. And one the count. Here it is. Swinging a foul back over the screen. Out of play. Strike two. Mike, have you looked at the scoreboard, Lucas? Well, and truly, as long as they’ve been playing the game, a given is when you’re way ahead, do not give away anything. Don’t walk people. Now Wilmer lines one into right field and racing in with a headlong dive. Waters makes the catch. Two down. Looked like a a hit off the bat, but Waters not to him. He came racing in and made the dive and he caught it. Well [Music] done. And here is Adamus. Loomer is now one for five today. Willie Adamus swings and misses and he was right over the top of the slider. Willie has not had a hit. Was fly out, struck out and twice grounded out. Had the big hit last night, a triple that bounced up at the 415 marker. Fouls this one back to the screen. Strike two. Another slider. Royals with eight runs. They’ve had 16 hits. They’ve had eight hits with runners in scoring position. Giants have four runs on eight hits and two errors. 02 pitch swinging a hard ground ball down the third base side just fouled. Well, the third base umpire is right on the line. He’s the one who gets the best view of anybody. And uh cuz from here and we have a really bad angle as well as being much further away from it. Looked like it went right over the top of the bag. Foul ball still and two. And again the pitch topped foul back behind the plate. That was a 99 mph sinker. Yreky on deck. And maybe you could tell I was already sort of starting the game summary there. Giants have already left nine men on base in this game. 02 pitch swinging a high drive along the right field line. Slicing foul and in amongst the spectators out of [Music] play. Hey Arizona at the Dodgers tonight. Corbin Burns and Dustin May there. Padres’s and Blue Jays. That game will be starting in about 45 minutes on the Toyota scoreboard. Now, here is a swinging strike three. The slider strikes him out and puts it into it. And here is the game summary now sponsored by Raies and Knob Hill. Save more on the flavors you love and find better deals for your budget at Raies and Knob Hill. for the Kansas City Royals. Eight runs on 16 hits. They had just the one home run by Salvi Perez, his third of the year with a man aboard in the fourth inning. But the Royals had eight hits in 18 at bats with runners in scoring position. And they had a lot of runners in scoring position. The Royals made no errors. They played a just a great game defensively and left nine runners on base. The Giants ended up with four runs on eight hits with two errors and left 10 runners on base. The Giants never had a hit with a runner in scoring position. They went 0 for seven in those high leverage at bats. However, they did hit three home runs. Chapman a solo in the third, number nine for him. Bailey a solo in the fourth, number one for him. And Ramos a two-run ninth inning homer for the man aboard. the ninth home run this year for Elliot Ramos. The time of the game was two hours and 39 minutes. The winning pitcher, the win is awarded to Bolan. He was the second man in in the bullpen game and Bolan gets his first win of the year. And the losing pitcher is Logan Webb. and Webb is now five and four for the season. The paid I actually I don’t think I ever heard the the paid crowd, but the uh Oh, here we go. 29,064 just for the record. That’s the game summary. Our thanks to Darren Chan, our producer and engineer. And we had a trio of network coordinators, Walter Eeka Balsetta, Danny Dunn, and Tim Webb. Our next broadcast will be Friday from Nationals Park. The Giants are heading to Washington very shortly. The team charter will leave from SFO. They’ll have a day off there tomorrow. And then at 3:45 Pacific time, game one, the Giants and the Nets, the Nets have been playing really well lately. They’ve been in a rebuilding and they’ve got suddenly several of those young guys are playing extremely well.
