NBA LIVE! Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves | May 22, 2025 | Game 2 NBA Playoffs Live

[Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] In this one, we’ve got two very good shooting teams that love to focus on that three ball. Well, there are certain organizations that lean heavily into this age of analytics. Both of these teams like to value the shots you most want. That’s at the rim. And now the three-point perimeter opportunity, so let it fly, guys. And checking out Minnesota’s opening lineup. Edwards on the wing. He’s joined by McDaniel. Julius Randle is out there with Rudy Go. And it’s Connley in at the point guard position. Kilus Alexander can’t get it to go. McDaniels against Gilgus Alexander to the inside. Stolen by Dort and here’s the fast break. Pren leading the way. He gets it in there. Yeah, you’re going to have to try to foul him harder. Chron wants to score through contact. Getting stronger and stronger. You know, Greg, when you look at the Timberwolves history, the first round had been a problem for them. but not last year as they swept the Phoenix Suns. And you got to look at it as being a tremendous success, right? Because going into the season, I don’t know that anyone thought they would have made it to the conference finals, but boy, that young group gelled well together and the sky’s the limit for the future. You love when guys like Chad Holgren, who enters the league with big expectations, works hard to meet those expectations. It’s been great to watch. Now here’s Connley. Pass to Randall. Just five on the clock to the middle. Here’s Edwards. A shot off that time. Good D by Gilgus Alexander. And the weight is now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Well, I talked with head coach Mark Dagnel and we talked about the bruising big man Julius Randall. He told me Julius sets the tone for them with his physicality. So, we have to try and match that. We can’t let him bully his way into the lane and get to his spots. We have to make him uncomfortable. Kevin, thank you, David. Here’s Gilis Alexander following the basket by Julius Randle for Gilis Alexander. Good. Let’s remember that at 6’6, Shay Gildas Alexander can more than handle himself near the cup. Outside Edwards Connley with a screen on George has to Randall puts up a three. Buries it from three-point range. Randle’s got five now. And that’s exactly what he’s looking for. Draining the triple. Elis Alexander passes to Dorch down low. It’s deflected and rejection by McDaniels. [Applause] First quarter of ball almost 2 and 1/2 minutes in. [Music] Connley good D by Gilas Alexander and and typically he has the touch to finish when he’s in tight but not sure on that possession. That one falls. Luke Dor has got a tremendous frame with unbelievable strength. He can take some contact now. And we’ve got a timeout called from Chris Finch. He wants to check in with his team and [Applause] regroup. Yeah. Heat. [Applause] Heat up Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] and Daniels kicks to go outside. Edwards to the paint. Here’s Connley. The shot no good. Good team by Kilus Alexander. Homegrren against Randall. Homegrren dishes to Williams. Pass to Dorch. Gilas Alexander against. The shots good from Gilg Alexander. Well, that’s SGAA in a nutshell right there. Quickness, length, guile, finishing on the interior. If you mention the best players in the NBA, Doris, you have to mention Shay Gilis Alexander. How has he made the leap so fast? Yeah, Kevin, this is an interesting growth and development story because Shay Gilis Alexander has shocked everybody. He can get to any spot on the floor. He’s one of the most relentless drivers in the game. You have to respect his three-point threat, which balances out that dribble drive game, and he’s willing to compete defensively. Sky is the limit for this young man. Here’s Gilas Alexander. Rudy Goar picking up that last basket. Gilg Alexander against one guy who now seems to be a perennial MVP candidate. Shane Gilis Alexander Doris. He is rocketing up the charts. He is Kevin. There’s no doubt about it. He can consistently put 30 on you like it’s absolutely nothing. He gives you everything else as well, including incredible leadership and great teammate skills. And he makes the first. What you love about Shay Gilis Alexander is this young man’s work ethic. He is a gym rat who is always looking for ways to improve. Gilg Alexander hits them both. An efficient night from the line. This is a guy who puts in the work and it pays dividends. Connley, the pass to Gole with the ball. A three-pointer off the mark. Well, the defense clearly was not interested in guarding him from downtown. They’re very fortunate he missed. And we got to take a second look to admire that outstanding block. And right out of the gate trying to set the tone defensively. You got to love that energy. [Applause] Timberwolves trail by six. Connley finds Goar. Now McDaniels. Here’s Edwards. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. You hear, Doris, people now calling Anthony Edwards one of the faces of the NBA. I’m assuming you’d agree. 100% agree because the skills are extraordinary. The development in his decision making has gone leaps and bounds from where it was. Beyond that, Kevin, he’s a lock down defender, one of the best competitors, fearless in the big moments, and one of the most charismatic young men in the league today. This guy is spectacular. And Edwards drops them both. Anthony Edwards is one of the most explosive athletes in the league. He can burn you with his perimeter jump shooting. He’s dangerous in transition. And look out folks, the upside is there. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. He has six. Shot clock at six. Pulls up on the wing. Minnesota with the rebound. Well, certainly not the best defensive effort, but this guy can’t make them pay for their laziness. Conley sets a screen for McDaniel left side. Edwards and Edwards with the stop. And that strength and concentration from Anthony Edwards. Yes, there’s contact doesn’t bother him. Pass to Harkenstein. outside Williams. It’s a nice passing by Oklahoma City here. Outside Connley Edwards against Dort. Here’s Goar and finished off by Goar. Really nice decision making by Anthony Edwards. If you’re going to play in the NBA, you’ve got to read off pick and roll action. Gilg Alexander kicks to Dors. The three-pointer no good. Definitely a situation you want to make sure you don’t give him too good of a look. Shot by McDaniels. No good. Well, Thunder have gone five of nine from the field here in the first. Here’s Williams. Dort wide open. Connects from three-point range. Dors got five. Being ready on the catch. Such an important skill. And Luke Dor’s confidence really starting to grow. Gil Alexander against Con. It’s stolen by Dor to the middle. Balls knocked loose. Out of bounds. Minnesota takes possession. [Applause] Timber rolls trail by three. [Applause] Now here’s Connley. Still scoreless. And here is McDaniel. Homerren with the steel. And here we go. Homegrren heading to the hoop. Williams passes to Gilg Alexander. Rebound Minnesota. Randall with the ball. He’s picked up by Gilg Alexander. Randall dishes to Gobear. McDaniels kicks to Connley. Goar with a screen for Connley. Oh, the lob to go. Rebound by Williams. And he saw the play develop, but the pass just wasn’t there. It was a really good thought for sure, but the lob has got to be better than that. Now here’s Williams for three Homegrren and it’s McDaniels with the rebound. Timberwolves trail by three. Up top Randall. That one good for two. He has seven. Well, that’s Randall working in his comfort zone. You can see how confident he is on his ability to score inside. Homegrren against Randall. Back to Gilas Alexander and he takes it in for the layup off a very nice feed. And it’s eight points for Shay Gilis Alexander. And so it’s Connley bringing up the ball for the Timberwolves. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sidelines. You got for us Da Kevin? Thank you. Shay Gilgis Alexander is an elite scorer. Coach Mark Dagnold said the sign of a good player is being a source of reliable offense. At the same time, he’s learned to impact the game in other ways. That’s why he’s a really good player. Not just the hired scorer. Kevin, totally agree, Da. He is a franchise cornerstone type of guy. We thank you for the report. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat up here. And a new group getting ready for Oklahoma City. Williams, he’s checked in for Hartenstein. Substitution. Wiggins. Comes in for Jet Homer. Jason Wallace. He’s checked in for Dorsch. And it’s Alex Caruso in for Gilas Alexander. Big group substitution now for Minnesota. Reed. He’s checked in for Go. Clark comes in for McDaniel. Alexander Walker. Check in for Edwards and it’s Dante Denenso in for Mike Conway. Here’s Alexander Walker. Here’s Randall. The put back. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Excellent reflexes from Julius Randall. Wow, what a put back. Caruso. The pass to Williams. Back to Caruso. shoots over Dven Shenzo and that one’s good. Guso and the Thunder lead by three. Minnesota’s gone one of three from beyond the arc so far in the game. Back to Devenzo. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. And with the offense getting right to the rim, at least they saved the layup. And look at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for Oklahoma City. Two shots. I like how they’ve worked the ball inside, getting looks closer in there, and that really helps your offense. And the other thing I love, how they’re making the extra pass. They’re not settling for the first shot. They’re going from good to great. [Applause] That first one falls for [Applause] [Applause] He’s off on the second. Thunder have gone eight of 15 from the field. Shooting above 50% here tonight. Caruso finds Williams. [Applause] Shot clock at three. The three. Reed with the rebound. The Timberwolves trail. Randall outside and the call on the shot. It sends him to the line. For that one on William. Well, there’s a certain edge that Julius Randle plays with that allows him to draw contact. Two shots. Shooting two. That’s all. That’s the first one falls. DB. Ever since winning the most improved player back in 2021, Randall has stayed scoring at an incredible clip. Yeah, Kevin, what makes this guy such a difficult matchup is his size and the ability to drive it. And now what you’ve seen is this evolution into a legit threat from three-point territory. He is such a difficult cover. And it’s tied up with that one. Boy, a really soft touch on display. It is a luxury to have a big man who can hit from the line at a consistent rate. And it’s Wallace penetrating. Rebounded by the [Applause] Timberwolves. Now Alexander Walker. He has yet to score. Wallace against Reed. That one’s no good. 0 of one to begin the game. Caruso looking for an opening. Wiggins passes to Caruso. A minute 50 left to play in the first. There’s a screen by Williams. Here’s Wallace. Julius Randle with the rebound. Randle’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Hits the jump hook. Julius Randle’s got 13. Well, Julius Randall once he starts percolating is a dangerous offensive player. Williams against Clark. trying to get something going. Oh boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. Even from over here, you can see that one pretty clearly. The Thunder made three free throws so far. Haven’t missed any. Taking two shots. First free throw is good. Shay Gilgish Alexanders checked in for Wiggins. Minnesota also making some changes. Miller comes in for Randall and it’s Edwards in for Clark and Williams drops them both. 111 left to play in the first quarter. Edwards against Waltz. And they call the foul. So a chance at the line for one more coming up. Boy, when you look at Anthony Edwards frame, it is pro ready right now. That upper body strength, the ability to play through contact and one. Yes, sir. And guys, let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown for the Timberwolves. They’ve been so aggressive going strong at the defense, looking to score off of that penetration. I think the other thing they’ve done a great job of is making their presence felt inside, converting tons of paint opportunities. [Applause] And what you love about Edwards is how intense he is. Guy plays hard every minute he’s on the floor. Gilas Alexander gets to Wiggins outside. Gilis Alexander. Pass to Caruso. Back to Gilas Alexander. Six on the shot clock. Good on the shot. Gilas Alexander’s got 10 points in the game. Quick trigger there by SGA. I’ll tell you on the catch be ready to rise and fire. Steven Jenzo against Gilas Alexander. Here’s Edwards and that one off the back of the rim and in. Nine points in the game so far. This guy a tough cover for any defender. Creative and assertive scoring the ball. Two second difference between shot clock and game clock. Here’s Gilas Alexander. He’s got 10. Drives to the hoop and that one drops for him. I mean, he is tearing the defense apart. And let’s face it, they have not brought their agame on that side of the ball. And that shot was up in time, but doesn’t go in. Julius Randle getting it done for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Between his points and his rebounds, he was a star for him in that quarter. Right back after this break and we hope you’re enjoying the game. Both teams tonight keeping things pretty even so far in the scoreboard. And guys, what’s your take so far in the Timberwolves? They just they’ve gotten to the line with tremendous consistency here through the first period. And this is why coaches say be aggressive. As long as you’re playing smart, good things tend to happen, even if you’re on the road. Greg, you look at the great coaches. What are one or two of the most important qualities for success that you see? Well, for me, Kevin, I think you got to be able to adapt tactically. I mean, that’s huge and especially in the playoffs. Most important thing, can you motivate and unify a locker room? That leadership quality is what really puts a coach over the top. You got Aaron Wiggins. Jason Wallace is out there with Gil Alexander. Then it’s Williams and it’s Caruso in at the three, the small forward. That’s the group for Oklahoma City getting going here in the second. You can’t look at the result of that shot. They’ll take that whenever they get it. And they should because it’s when you start turning down that kind of look that your offense can start to bog down a bit. Off target from the baseline. Timberwolves trail. [Applause] And we played through the first minute here in the second. And here’s Devenzo from the arc. That one’s in. His first shot this game. And you’re asking for more trouble than you can handle if you’re going to let him just roam free from beyond the arc. Double team on Gilis Alexander. Caruso finds Wiggins. Traps in the train. Wiggins has got five points now in the quarter. Such a reliable threat from range. You’d think the defense might key on him a little bit more. Even Jenzo passes to Edwards. Brown move inside by Edwards. Yeah, Anthony Edwards in the painted area is going to be a force. Size, strength, and hops. Look out. And the officials will call the illegal screen right there. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. You know, he’s just leaning a little bit. You try to get away with it, but boy, the official all over it. Jang, he’s checked in for Williams. And a change for the Timberwolves. Ingles is checked in. Minnesota in the lead. Edwards with it. 11 points in the game. And a miss there on the triple. He couldn’t believe how open he was. He just couldn’t convert it. Here’s Wiggins. And he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. Foul. Oklahoma City shooting their sixth and seventh free throw attempts tonight. Wiggins taking two shots. [Applause] Got to get it quick. Big chair. Throw good. Wiggins. Williams. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Now Timberwolves also with the sub. Clark, he’s checked in for Joe [Music] Engles. Get it. He hits one and misses one each at the line. Yeah, look, you’d like to take the lead on that possession, but he at least he was able to tie the game up. Edwards kicks to Devenenzo. Reed with a screen for Devenenzo. Shoots over Gilgaw. The Timberwolves again can’t hit to the paint. That’s good from Williams on the assist by Wallace. The Timberwolves have gone two of five from the field here in the second quarter, shooting 40%. Reed the pass to Alexander Walker. Caruso grabs the miss. Caruso’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Pass to Gilis Alexander. Steven Shenenzo with the rebound. Minnesota’s gone one of two on three-pointers here in the second quarter so far. Clark a screen on Gilis Alexander. The three forenzo and Caruso’s got the ball here for the Oklahoma City Thunder. They’ve only allowed five points in the quarter. Gil Alexander good. Shake Gildish Alexander that threelevel scoring ability that time working the mid-range. Stevenzo passes to Clark. Alexander Walker with the ball defended by [Applause] Caruso. Five on the clock. Here’s Edwards. That one doesn’t drop. Nice defense from Holmes. Wiggins kicks to Gilgis Alexander, shoots over Deven Shenzo. That doesn’t go either for Giljis Alexander. And when you look at Alexander Walker, Doris so consistent from year to year. This is a young man who knows his role, finds ways to help the team within the context of what the stars are doing. And those are exactly the kind of role players you need in order to have a quality basketball team. And so here is Oklahoma City following the three by Minnesota. And the basket by Kilis Allen. Oh boy, how slippery is SGA on a triple drive. Just so difficult to stay in front of him for three. Edwards. A rebound by Kilis [Applause] [Music] Alexander. Pass to Caruso. Misses the three. Timberwolves trail by three to the right side. Clark right side for three. Edwards on the rebound goes to the Thunder and he has definitely been struggling in this quarter. And you know what? They keep calling his number and they’re simply trying to get him out of this funk. Now here’s Wiggins. He’s got six and it’s Gil Alexander missing. Pass to Alexander Walker. Planketed by the D. He fights to the rim for the layup. Great chemistry between two teammates. Love the passing. And calls timeout here. He’s made the decision. He wants to huddle up with his guys. [Applause] Here are your [Music] [Applause] girl. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat up here. [Music] [Applause] And a new group getting ready for Oklahoma City. Hartenstein’s checked in for Williams. Chad Homegrren comes in for Aaron Wiggins. Kaylin Williams is checked in for Alex Caruso. And it’s Dort in for Wallace. Big group substitution now for Minnesota. Rudy Goar is checked in for Reed. Julius Randle comes in for Clark McDaniels. He’s checked in for Alexander Walker. And Mike Connley subbed in for Dante [Applause] Devincenzo. Williams against McDaniel. And that one good. And the Thunder lead by three. Just a late reaction there from the defense. And he is always going to finish that one. Outside Edwards. Five to shoot. From down in the low post it goes. Edwards got 13 points. Well, Anthony Edwards came into the league with a reputation as a scorer. He is starting to hum a little bit right here. The shots good from Gilgis Alexander coming off a big game. His confidence couldn’t be higher and coach knows that. Well, the best players to me deliver night night after night after night. So, as long as he’s hot, keep riding it. Now, here’s Goar to McDaniels from past the ark. Hangs home the trifecta. McDaniels got himself going with the triple. His first basket of the game. And guys getting into a nice groove here. Starting to feel it. And this is partly what the game has become, right? A matter of dueling three-point opportunities. Here’s Dor. He’s got five outside. Gil Alexander. Rudy Goar with the rebound. The Timberwolves have gone. Six of 14 shooting here in the South. Edwards with the burst. Boy, the quickness off the dribble drive by Anthony Edwards being able to put it on the deck so important. pass to Hartinstein. Now George Edwards [Applause] defending Williams kicks to Homegr and Clay stops whistling what looks to be an illegal screen. When a pick like that is questionable and creates that much of an advantage for the offense, you have to blow the whistle. I don’t think there’s any question. There are so many rules that favor the offense these days. You’ve got to be able to equal things out when the illegal screen is set. Claws has checked in for Oklahoma City. McDaniels passes to Con. And here’s Dean Chenzo from the arc. That’s miss number three for him. Now two for five from the floor. Dort left [Applause] side. Sinks that one from the post. And that’s now seven points for Lou Dort. Listen, that is all you can do defensively. Loot Dort at times is just going to make tough shots. Conlay the pass to McDaniels and that one falls coming off Connley’s feet and the Timberwolves lead by two. It has been nip and tuck through the first half. Exactly guys, the way it’s seessawed back and forth. Unbelievable. Homegrren gets the bucket. And I love the competitive edge Homegrren plays with coming right back with his own triple. Randall down low, defended by Homer, and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. I tell you what, he earned his money on that foul. And this is his second trip to the line tonight. Julius taking two shots. Shooting [Music] two. That free throw good from Randall. And the Thunder making a change here. Caruso’s checked in. [Applause] And that one goes in. Two from the line that time. Oklahoma City trailer. Pass to Homer to the inside. Dort against McDaniel. Boy, whenever Goar is out there, he will make you think about shooting near the rim. This guy such a good shot blocker. And that one’s good early. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. [Music] Randall against Homegrren. Releases. Thunder with the rebound. Now here’s Caruso. Pass to Homegrren. Back to Caruso. Arinstein with it. Go Bear with the defensive effort. [Music] Up top, Devenzo defended by Dort. And a bit of a battle here for the ball. The official signals a jump ball here. Randall dishes to Conley. McDaniels against Williams down low. Pocket six. It’s stolen by Hartinstein. It’s Williams with the drive and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the contact. That’s on Jaden McDaniel for Oklahoma City. They have shot six of seven at the line. And you really got to give them a ton of credit for what they’ve done at the free throw line this season. How about 82% as a unit? And the first one at the line is good. Isaiah Joe, he’s checked in for Alex Caruso. [Music] And Williams drops them both. Here’s Connley. Scoreless thus far. Pass to Randall. Back to Connley. Here’s Dvenenzo. Defended by Dors. Dvenenzo kicks to McDaniel. No good from outside. The Thunder lead by three. Outside [Music] Dors and he could not get that one to go. out of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. Boy, that’s a savvy move by Lou Dort on the inside. Gets himself the whistle. It’s his first trip to the line. 72% at the line this season. He has yet to set himself apart in that department. [Applause] [Music] He’s off on the first. What we know about Lou Dort is this guy is an excellent defender. He’s got size, strength, versatility. You can basically throw him at the other team’s best offensive weapon night after night. Minnesota making a switch here. Dillingham’s checked in. And the second free throw good. And so it’s Connley bringing up the ball for Minnesota trailing by four. [Applause] Here’s Dillingham defended by Dort. Williams against McDaniel. Down to five on the shot clock. Here’s Randall. And that one falls coming off Connley’s feet. And that’s 17 points for Julius Randall. Mike Connley was drafted, Doris, back in 2007. And somehow someway, he’s gone his whole career without receiving a technical foul. Heck, you and I have received technical fouls over here, but not him on the floor. Kevin, that is an impressive feat. And it’s also probably why he’s won the NBA sportsmanship award more than anyone else in the history of the league and why we will never win it. The Timberwolves have shot the ball well from the free throw line, eight of nine. And looking over their percentage on the season, I think they will be thrilled with the number in terms of their free throw percentage. 79. [Applause] That free throw missing. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. The Thunder with the lead outside. Dort. There’s 49 seconds left to play here in the second quarter. Pass to Homer. Off target from outside. Minnesota shooting pretty good tonight. 48%. Now Randall and looks like the illegal pick was set. Yep, that’s right there. It’ll get their attention beyond the lean. You can see his feet weren’t set on that screen. Easy call. You know, he’s just leaning a little bit. You try to get away with it, but boy, the official all over it. Reed, he’s jacked in for Goar. 5 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Joe passes to Homegrren offline with his three. No idea why he’s attempting so many outside shots. It’s not his day and he needs to either look to drive or get it to an open teammate. Homegrown against Randall. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws for Minnesota. They have shot nine of 11 at the free throw line. Julius two shots shooting two. Ties it up. And this next one could give them the lead. [Applause] four and that drops. So they now lead by one. Now Joe, no good on the last second attempt there. And some good action through the first two quarters as we reach halftime. Timberwolves lead by one. Timber. Going to step away briefly but get you right back out here for the start of the third quarter after our halftime. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] And if you’re just joining us, we’ve played through the first half in a game that’s been fairly even so far. We’re seeing a tremendous game from Julius Randall. He’s done a fantastic job of finding open space to operate with within the first few quarters. One of the things every player is after is efficiency at the offensive end. And boy, this young guy has done just that. And Gilus Alexander’s got the ball here for the Thunder. And on the floor for Chris Finch as we get into the second half. Conley and Edwards of the guards. Randle out there with McDaniels. And it’s Goar in at the five roaming the paint. Now here’s Gilas Alexander and he gets that one to go off the front iron. Gilas Alexander’s got 21 in the [Applause] game. Connley against Gilis Alexander. Back to Conley to go. Clock at four. The Timberwolves need to get a shot off him. And slam dunk by Goar if he’s operating at pick and roll because Rudy Goar such a big target. Hard to guard him. Gilgis Alexander surveying the deep. Double team on Gilgus Alexander. He’s gone two for two at the line so far. In their last contest, guys, he was unconscious from the foul line. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That’s good from Gilas Alexander. Gilgish Alexander hits them both. And if you’re just joining us, we played over a minute here in the third. Randle outside. Edwards kicks to McDaniel. Here’s Randall. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle. And two shots coming up. Got one on Gilis Alexander. Boy, what a nice offensive move by Julius Randall. Lurs the defender in to draw the contact. That is pretty. He’s made all six of his tries at the line so far in high quality numbers for him all season long. How about 81 from the line? [Applause] And he knocks down the first one. [Applause] And he can’t hit the second. That will sting a little bit. Failing to get the lead when the opportunity was there, but he does tie it up. Pass to Gilg Alexander. Homegrren with a screen on Randall. It’s Gilas Alexander with the drive. The kick out to Williams. There’s the three. Burries the long range jumper. Williams has got nine. You simply must play better defense than that. This guy is too good from distance. Edwards against Dort. Knocks it loose. Taken away by Williams. It’s Dort on the wing. Eight points for him. outside Gilgis Alexander. Good great play by Williams to set it up. Gilg Alexander’s got the lead up to six now for the Thunder. Edwards looking it [Applause] over. Over in the corner, Randall. And they wasted no time getting those three points back. Randle’s got 23 points. Oh my goodness. What a response by Randall. Yes, you can make a three. So can I. And he’ll shoot free throws here. Clearly fouled on that shot that time. The whistleblowing. So far, he’s hit all of his shots at the foul line. Going four for four. At the line for two. Shane gets his. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one drops. Got to get it. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. Good. Gilg Alexander hits them both. A little over two and a half minutes off the clock in this final half of play. Gil Alexander against Con. Edwards shot is good. And it’s really good to see Edwards knock down the mid-range jumper. He continues to work on becoming more consistent from that area. Now here’s Homegrren. Eight points for him. Dort against Edwards. Pass to Williams. Shot clock at five. Shoots from the corner and good as it just snugs right down through the net. And this is SPA’s role. He He’s out here to score and score often. Outside Edwards. Now here’s Gobear. Connley surveying the D. Pass to Edwards. Edwards drawing the double team. Here’s McDaniels. The offensive rebound. Go and he drops in the layup off the glass. Go’s got eight. Listen, at just over 7 ft, we know Goar is going to be terrific on the glass. And Mark Dagno calls timeout. This will give him a chance to discuss some potential [Applause] alterations. Here is your crew. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Music] Heat up here. [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Here’s Gilgis Alexander. He has 30. Harden Shine finds Gilis Alexander driving inside. And now the Timberwolves on the break. Here’s McDaniels. Oh, took the contact and tried to throw it down over the top, but instead he’ll shoot free throw at one on Williams. And a look at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for Oklahoma City. And guys, how about the unselfishness and all about working that ball around, shifting the defense, and just seeking out the best shot. And the other thing, guys, that they’ve been very effective at is shooting the long range jumpers. The defense has been having trouble closing out to them in this game in particular. The first free throw is good. [Applause] And McDaniels drops them both. And here is Gilis Alexander. Got a piece of it. It’s stolen by Randall. And now Connley running the floor all by himself. So they take the lead and the Timberwolves lead by one. Well, Mike Connley out in transition on the break, eager to help his team convert. Nicely done. Pass to [Applause] Homer. Oklahoma City moving the ball around. Williams finds Gilis Alexander. Six to shoot. No good on the three. And here’s Edwards. He’ll bring it up for the Minnesota Timberwolves. being slammed dumped by Goar. Well, spectacular athleticism from the 7 foot center. Go Bear. Wow. Connley against Gilas Alexander. [Applause] Outside Williams. Back to Gilas Alexander. Double team on Gilas Alexander. Here’s Williams. The Thunder with another miss. Minnesota with the ball. They’re on a 13-4 run. To the middle. It’s stolen by Hartenstein. And the Thunder pushing it up now. Here’s Dort finished off the break. Dort got 10 points in the game. What an effort by Luke Dort in transition. Gets up the floor. Makes himself the best option. Back to Edwards. Edwards drawing the double team. Here’s Gilgis Alexander. 30 points in the game. Dort kicks to Gilis Alexander. Back to Dort. [Music] Latrey size again and Gilis Alexander with the layup. Gilas Alexander’s got 13 points here in the second half alone. Pass to [Applause] Randall. Back to Cones Alexander with the [Applause] steel. Here’s Homer. And a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. And a savvy pump fake move from the rookie home room. That kind of intelligent play could serve him well. He made the only free throw attempt he had earlier in the game. Taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First free throw is good. Alex Caruso, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Alexander Walker, he’s checked in for Minnesota. Homegrren hits him both. Timberwolves trail by three. Conley with it. It’s rebounded by Hartinstein. Hartenstein’s got rebound number seven for him tonight. A shot missing. Go with the defensive effort. Now Alexander [Applause] Walker outside Edwards back to Alexander Walker just five to shoot. Shoots over Caruso. No good from the wing. Yeah, but the hand in the face. It’s critical that you contest his shots every time down the floor. Martin Stein against Randall. Hartinstein passes to [Music] Caruso. Dort with a screen for Caruso. Outside Dort. The Thunder with another miss. Temples trail by three. Over to the left wing. Outside Edwards and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. That one on Gilis Alagin. Anthony Edwards is a load to handle as a defender. This guy’s got the frame and the skill to make it very difficult. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. And the Thunder making a change here. Williams has checked in. and good on the second. So, he makes them both. Oklahoma City has gone two of five with a three-point shot since coming out of the break. And Mark Dagnol calls timeout here. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. [Applause] [Applause] It’s time for some features. [Applause] You got it. [Applause] Who wants a t-shirt? [Applause] Now here’s Caruso defended by Alexander Walker. Double team on Kiljis Alexander Goar with the block. Here’s Alexander W. Randle outside fires from deep. The Thunder pull it in. Hartenstein’s got eight rebounds in this game. And those advanced numbers, doors, they show Rudy Gobear is historically great. Kevin, I love that you are an analytics lover, but for me, it’s about the eye test. Rudy Go Bear has won the defensive player of the year on more than one occasion. He’s played on winning teams and he’s been an integral part of their success. He is one of the all-time great defenders we’ve seen. Here is Edwards after the maid shot from Shade Gilis Alexander. Alexander Walker on the wing defended by Caruso. The Thunder lead by three. Williams pitch to Kilgish Alexander over Connley. Rebound Minnesota. Randle’s got six rebounds here tonight. Pass to Alexander Walker. Five on the clock for three. Edwards Dort grabs the miss. And the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that possession. Shine and the dunk by Harden. Nice pass by door. You’re playing in pick and roll and your teammates open. You find him. Nicely done. Outside Edwards. He’s looking for Hardenstein and finds him. Caruso with the ball. picked up by Edwards. Dort passes to Gilg Alexander. Here’s Hartinstein and the dunk by Hartenstein. Well, if you don’t take care of the ball, fellas, that’s what can happen. Absolutely, Greg. That makes the turnover even more painful. At the end of the day, though, it’s two points. Don’t hang your heads. Let’s get refocused and play with more patience. And we’ve got a timeout called from Chris Finch. wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat and the thunder changes. Williams is checked in for Hartenstein. Aaron Wiggins comes in for Shay Gilgis Alexander and Wallace subbed in for Dorch. Minnesota also making some changes. Nas Reed, he’s checked in for Gobear. Clark comes in for Edwards and it’s Dante Denzo in for Mike Conley. We’ve got 155 left in the third quarter of the game. [Applause] Wiggins against Randall. Get Randall is doubled and Reed has it in the corner. Krills the three-pointer. Reeds got himself going there. His first points of the game on the deep ball. What a beautiful stroke from Range defensively. You’ve got to try to take him out of his comfort zone. Williams against Devincenzo. Now here’s Williams. Not a lot of room. Tries it from 19. He climbs that one off the back iron and down it falls. Caruso’s got six. I’m not sure what he was thinking exactly, but he finds a way to convert. Devenzo kicks to Clark at the elbow. Randle. [Applause] Back to Clark. The Timberwolves working the ball around. Randall with the bucket. Randle’s got six points in the quarter. Guard him big, guard him small. Julius Randall is so crafty on the interior. It matters not. He’s going to finish. Now here’s Williams. He’s got nine. Wiggins a three on Clark. Williams passes to Caruso. Wallace a screen. Oklahoma City needs to get off a shot. Hits the three-point bomb. Wallace has got the lead up to seven now for the Thunder. Timberwolves have gone eight of 14 on their shot attempts here in the third. Some pretty nice work. Wiggins against [Applause] Randall over Wiggins. And again, it’s Minnesota. [Music] [Applause] Shade Gilgis Alexander guys has been on display for Oklahoma City and his big game just keeps getting bigger. That quarter sees him get over 30 points. Don’t go anywhere. We’ll be right back. Well, this has been a great contest so far, and I imagine the fourth quarter could have even more action in store for us. [Applause] Timberwolves trail by five. We’ve got Gilas Alexander. Williams is out there with Aaron Wiggins. Then there’s Wallace. And it’s Caruso in at the three spot. That’s the lineup in the game for Oklahoma City. Clark for three. Caruso grabs the miss. Caruso’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last [Music] one. Pass to Gilg Alexander. And that’s a foul called on Shane Gilis Alexander. That’ll be his third foul so far. Oh, great defense. They anticipated the play. They got there first. Miller’s checked in for Nquille Alexander Walker. Dean Shenzo passes to Miller. Pass to Clark. Caruso with the steal. Wiggins against Miller. And here is Gus Alexander. And there’s the whistle. 3second violation. [Applause] Timber trail by five. How about a minute play here in the fourth quarter. Miller. The pass to Clark. Back to Miller. Lets the free fly gets rebounded by Oklahoma City. Wiggins in the post. Defended by Devenenzo. Wiggins kicks to Wallace. Caruso sets the screen for Wallace and he converts the layup. Wallace has got the first basket as we get going in the fourth for the Thunder. Always helps to get these kinds of looks, right? Super easy to convert from that distance. Pass to Miller for three and the three ball is good. Miller’s got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. It takes incredible effort to stay connected to the hip of the offensive player. You’ve got to want to work. And Zo Miller will bring it up for the Timberwolves. A great fourth quarter just giving up two points. Pass to Devenenzo. Wants to get it to Reed and does. Six on the shot clock. No good from Clark. The Thunder leads by four. Caruso. The pass to Gilas Alexander. Williams. A screen on Clark and it’s Gilis Alexander missing. Timberwolves have gone 104 since the end of the third quarter. Devenzo kicks to Miller Reed against Caruso. Here’s Devenenzo. Big hops from the back court. Oh, absolutely. and maybe just what they need to get this game going in their direction. Boy, as tight as this one is, that’s a statement play saying, “Hey, listen. We’re not here to back down from you guys.” Yeah. Nothing too fancy. Just getting the job done when they need to make every possession count. Guys, you have to put a body on Anthony Edwards. This guy is too skilled and too strong. from Minnesota. Anthony Edwards taking two shots. [Music] Free throw good. Edward Dort. He’s checked in for Wallace. The Timberwolves also with the sub. Connley’s checked in. [Applause] and Edwards drops them both. Here’s Gilg Alexander. Williams has a screen for Gilg Alexander over Connley. Rebound [Applause] Minnesota outside Edwards and finished off by Edwards. Oh, give me a little sauce. Anthony Edwards rise high and finish over the defender. Close. Gild Alexander passes to Dort. Williams kicks to Dort and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Second personal foul. First two at the line for your Thunder L taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. That free throw. No good. The Timberwolves making a switch here. Minods checked in. So he can’t get either to fall for Minnesota. They’ve gone three of six in the field so far in the fourth quarter. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Anthony Edwards. That’s his second. That’ll be his second foul of the game. First team foul. Thunder have gone two for five on field goal attempts in the fourth quarter. Gild Alexander passes to Dort. Dort with a screen for Coro. Four on the clock and that one is off. Minnesota’s gotten just one of four three-pointers to go down for them here in the fourth. Edwards kicks to Connley. Pass to [Applause] Reed. Here’s Devenenzo. and trying for the go-ahead basket. It doesn’t go in Caruso against Edwards. Here’s Gilis Alexander banked in off the glass. Gil Alexander’s got 38 points. And that was the right call. But when you need a basket, go to the guys you trust the most. Well, you’ve got to earn trust and equity by making shots. Nice delivery there. Now, here’s Connley. Here’s Reed. That’s in there. Connley with the assist. Connley’s got five assists in the game. Well, if you want to pinpoint one thing about Mike Connley, it’s his feel for the game. That’s a pretty pass. The shots good from Gildas. Time running low, guys. And somebody has got to win this one. Yeah. Well, who knows? We might need overtime in this one. It’s been that kind of a game. Now here’s Steven Chenzo. Pass to May not. Now here’s Reed over Williams. Reed misses. The Thunder have gone four of eight in this fourth quarter, shooting an even 50% from the field. [Applause] Connley dishes to Edwards. Shoots over Caruso. Caruso grabs the miss. Caruso’s got rebound number 10 tonight with that last one. Here’s Kilis Alexander and there’s another one for the Thunder. He hit a quick trigger and from that range if he senses the defenders have backed off. And we’ve got a timeout called from Chris Finch. And he wants to see some changes out there right away and right [Music] now. Let’s go. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] A different look for Oklahoma City. Dr. Stein checked in for Williams. Comes in for Wiggins and it’s Williams in for Alex Caruso. And now the latest from our reporter David. I was able to listen in on what Chris Finch told the team. He said, “Look, you guys are playing physical, and I like that, but it has to be under control. You’ve committed way too many fouls. You’ve allowed way too many foul shots.” Kevin, thanks so much, David. Now, here’s McDaniels outside. Connley fires the three and the ball out of bounds. No Bear touched it last. Oklahoma City leading by three outside Dort Gilis Alexander and the layup is good after a nice lead pass. Gilis Alexander’s got 44. There’s real synergy in play right now on the offensive end. The pass was right where it needed to be. Gilas Alexander against Conley. Shoots over Gilg Alexander. Connley gets the bucket. The silky smooth dribble moves of Connley. So slick in how he creates for himself. [Applause] Gil Alexander against Conley and rebounded by McDaniels. Timber trail by three. Rando passes to McDaniels. [Applause] Pass to Connley over Gilgander with the second effort and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. That one on Williams. And this is the right play by Conley sticking with the motion and ensuring he gets to the line. [Applause] And the first one drops. [Applause] That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. The Thunder gone. Six of 11 since the start of the fourth quarter. Edwards against Dort out to the wing. Outside Gilgish Alexander trains the three-pointer. Gilish Alexander’s got 47 points. Well, that’s an opportunistic three-point shot from Shay Gil Alexander. He liked the look of it. finally against Gilgus Alexander. Back to Randall for the three. Thunder with the [Applause] rebound. Williams double team. Minnesota with the rebound. Randle’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. Finally into the lane. Pass to McDaniels. Edwards with it. [Applause] Edwards holding off the D and converts. I think his teammates understand that Anthony Edwards has every aspect of his offensive game working. So, let’s make sure he’s got the basketball. Hardenstein passes to Homegrren. Connley against Gilis Alexander. That one drops for him. There is no moment too big. No pressure too heavy for Mr. Shake. Gilgus Alexander. The delivery is on time. Defensive foul. Mike Connley. The third personal foul. Second team foul. Find the lane at the line for one. No shot. Shane Gilis [Music] Alexander. That’s good from Gilgis Alexander. And so it’s Connley bringing up the ball for Minnesota. It’s a five-point game. Right wing. McDaniels against Williams. [Applause] Randall surveying the D. Shot clock at five. Shoots over Homegrren. Randall no good. Oklahoma City leading by five. Dort with the ball. Picked up by Edwards. Dort kicks to Gilis Alexander. Double team on Gilis Alexander. Well, what a pump fake by Shay. Gilg Alexander gets the defender committed and he’ll go to the foul line. Take a [Applause] break. The first one falls. [Applause] [Applause] Just Alexander hits them both. Here is Edwards. [Applause] It’s rebounded by Oklahoma City. Homegrren’s got four rebounds now tonight. Williams passes to Gilis Alexander. Pass to Hartenstein. Good on the bucket. Hardenstein’s got the lead up to nine now for Oklahoma City. Well, pretty pass from Shake Elis Alexander. This guy can score it, but make sure you’re lifting up the guys around you. Jordan against Edwards. Connley up top just three to shoot out to the right wing. That’s a two from Randall. That’s in there. Connley with the assist. Randle’s got 10 points in just the second half. Connley’s got a great set of skills as a passer. He might not always make the flashy pass, but he will make the smart. Now, here’s [Applause] George. 121 left in the fourth quarter of this one. And nothing fancy really about that play. That’s just good oldfashioned hard-nosed basketball to get that. Here’s Randle and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Got one on Homegrren. Well, with his strength, Julius Randall can absorb contact easier than a lot of players. This guy is not going to be intimidated. So, the first one drops and that trims the lead to six. and he is unable to get the second one. Listen, it’s only one miss, but it hurts all the same as they try to cut into this lead. Tort gets to Gilgus Alexander shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. Well, the tremendous length of the guard spot that Shay Gilis Alexander presents is a problem for a lot of defensive players. He hits the first one and that makes it a seven-point lead. [Applause] [Applause] And he hits both free throws here. So now it’s an eight-point game. And we’ve got a timeout called from Chris Finch. Wants to make sure everybody’s coordinated and intent. It’s the one and only Wonder [Applause] [Applause] Girl. Heat [Applause] up here. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] And so it’s Minnesota with it, trailing here by Eight Oklahoma City at the line for the Anthony Edwards. Two shots. [Applause] [Applause] Good on the first and that narrows the gap to seven. [Applause] Good on both and good aggressive basketball on that trip. Drawing the foul, converting the free throws and then also narrowing the gap on the wing. Gilis Alexander for Mike Connley to the inside. No stopping him in there. Jams it in as he’s fouled. Chance now for a three-point play. That’s on Jaden McDaniels. [Applause] Find the lane. Find the lane. One shot. And that one misses. There’s 38 seconds left to play in the final quart. Outside Edwards back to McDaniels Bear with a screen on Williams. Here’s McDaniels. Basket goods. We’ve got 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter and an intentional foul right there. No choice but to foul there, but he’s probably the last guy you want to see on the one. Heat. Heat. gets the first. That makes it a seven-point [Applause] lead. And so he drops them both. It’s an eight-point game. Minnesota calls timeout. They’re trailing by eight. What’s your take, guys? A lot to talk over and improve on for next time. Well, maybe you could wait until after the game because this one is over. [Applause] [Applause] Heat up here. Heat [Applause] up here. for three. Edwards. It counts. Oh, and that cuts the lead to just five. How about go bear with the find. On time and on target. Nicely done, Rudy. And now they decide to foul intentionally. Third personal foul at the line for your Oklahoma City. Lucas Do taking two shots. Shooting two. Here we go. He drops the first one and that increases their lead to six. So he goes two for two at the line and it’s a seven-point game. Well, just knocking them down from the charity stripe, extending the lead. Simple basketball. Three-pointer Randall. He can’t get that one to [Applause] fall. So, we see the Thunder get the win here. Probably a little closer than they would have liked it, but a win nonetheless. Yeah, but I really got a sense that the fans gave them that emotional boost that was needed down the stretch. This crowd, man, they were electric. And that’ll re
