Jonathan Kuminga Landing Spots| NBA Daily πŸ€

Two. Two recaps. Darn. Hi. Hello, and welcome to another edition of NBA Daily Dunker Spot Style. I am Nikkias Duncan, joined as always by my guy Steve Jones Jr. Steve, how are you? Uh, feeling good, feeling great. excited to continue to talk basketball and be here with you in the chat. There we go. We’re going to have some fun. I’m going to try to do my job confidently this time around. But in all seriousness, some quick housekeeping before we get going. You want to make sure you’re tapping in with the Bleacher Report app or the Bleach Report YouTube every day for awesome NBA content. AB NBA Daily is live every weekday. And if you want to rock with us in particular, we are here every Wednesday. though, we did have a special conference final stream on Monday in which uh I disrespected the Minnesota Timberwolves unintentionally, so I once again apologize for that. Uh, forgive my brain, but we’re here every Wednesday. We’re going to have some fun. And as we are through game one of the Western Conference Finals, felt like a fun time to revisit another Western Conference storyline. The Minnesota Timberwolves just took out the Golden State Warriors, which sets up an interesting offseason for them. Big decision to be made around the athletic, talented, controversial, inconsistent Jonathan Kaminga. He is entering restricted free agency this off season. Steve not a guarantee that he’s out the door. Very well could come back or agree to terms with Golden State on a restricted free agency deal or team may offer him uh send him an offer sheet. Golden State may like to figure let’s match it. Let’s figure this out. Let’s roll this down. Uh they’re on the hill a little bit, but we’re going to have some fun today. Let’s talk about some potential Jonathan Kaminga landing spots. Uh before we get into some of these teams, I’ve I’ve made a list for Steve. I can’t wait for him to yell at me about it. Uh Steve, what are your general thoughts on Jonathan Kaminga? Uh you know, contrary to kind of popular belief, I think he’s still a young talented player. I think we we’re unsure of exactly what the fit is, but his aggression has gone up. He’s grown as far as his ability to drive the basketball, get downhill. We’ve seen the defensive activity grow from time to time, but when he puts his head down and makes a play, uh it’s really tough to keep him out of the paint. And so, you’re seeing him kind of have that maturity to understand when to attack, how to attack. Uh you would like the three-point shooting to be in a different place, but you can’t deny the athleticism and the ability to cut, move, and just kind of impact the game when he has that right mindset going. And I think that’s going to be the most important thing uh when you project Kaminga going forward. I’m sure there’s a lot of fan bases that say, “Hey, not sure I want that guy.” But context, fit, opportunity, all such key things in the game of basketball. And Golden State is a very specific context, especially for a young basketball player. And so, you’ve got to be able to understand the opportunities, understand the gaps, know when to attack, but also know, hey, there’s going to be movement. You got to swing that ball. So, what are the minutes going to be somewhere else? How’s that growth look somewhere else? And what are the options? You know, who wants to pay Jonathan Kaminga? Where does he want to go? You say an offer sheet. Hey, you know, the Brooklyn Nets are one of how many teams with cap space to go ahead and knock on that door. Uh, not many, Steve. Not many. So, I mean, it the the trademark may be the best opportunity him for him to land somewhere else. Uh, and I’m intrigued to see what you’ve cooked up. Yes, I am ready to uh it was fun getting into the lab on this one. And as you mentioned, the fact that there aren’t a lot of teams with cap space in addition to what is the ideal fit for Jonathan Kaminga, restricted free agency is naturally a tricky thing because of the ability to match offer sheets. Wasn’t as easy as an unrestricted free agent if we were to do one of these exercises. But I did my best to concoct a group of teams for you, Steve. Uh we saw the per game graphic for Jonathan Kaminga there. We’ll quickly add for people that may be a little bit skeptical of Jonathan Kaminga. It is worth noting he has played 40 games in his career, Steve, where he’s logged at least 30 minutes per game. 21 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and nearly a block per game. 61 to have true shooting. Very efficient score. More minutes, more opportunity, more confidence seems to be the bit for him. So, how much of that can you project forward in a new context? Unsure. That is the question that decision makers going to have to ask. But a lot of intrigue for Jonathan Gaming, I would imagine, heading into this off seasonason. So, let’s get into some of these teams. Steve, number one team I want to offer to you. How would you feel about Jonathan Kaminga in Sacramento? Interesting. Another Western Conference team that may have some uh some tough decisions to make. obviously they already traded De’arren Fox and buddy you add Zack Lavine you have Demard Rosen you still have Damonte Sabonis you ultimately don’t make the playoffs the Mont Sabonis you get the reports he wants to go to the front office like hey what exactly are we doing here if I don’t like the direction I might want to be out two some question marks some things in the air for Sacramento and I think in general this may be a slightly easier context for Jonathan to play in if you’re talking about his personal fit especially if Sabonis is still there, a hub that can hit Jonathan Kaminga on some of those cuts. You get some of the Golden State elements without the full Golden State system. So maybe he gets to play a little bit more freely, maybe they play a little bit faster, that accentuates his athleticism, his downhill juice, and in general, if Sacramento decides maybe not a full reset, but let’s reconfigure some things, I think Jonathan Kaminga could be a player that could pop in a new context. How would you feel about Kaminga in Sacramento? I think the key for me would be uh one trying to figure out what they would end up uh not having anymore and two is Damonte Sabona still there because I think if Sabon is still there I think you can kind of tap into some cutting in some ways which will you know bring out his athleticism but the opportunity is there for him to be able to run in transition to be able to attack to be involved more actions uh to get the ball in different opportunities and places whether it’s in the post or at the elbow or you know getting downhill off dribble handoff so I wouldn’t necessarily mind that fit and I think it kind of fits a retooling of the timeline where Sacramento kind of looked like they were going one way, had to pivot to another direction. Okay, where do we kind of safely elevate and land this? So, I I wouldn’t mind the Sacramento fit. I like that. I think if Sabonis isn’t there, it becomes, hey, we we’re going a different direction, which I think becomes a different thing, but I think it would be a good fit. Kind of like the best of both worlds of what he’s experienced and grown through over the last four years and what he could be. Um, can I ask a question real quick from the chat? Sure. Number one, Warriors won’t let him walk without anything. That is correct. Agreed. Got me up. Uh from Hot Mic, Chris Stops in a first for Kaminga. Kristoffs and a first. I don’t know if Boston would want to do that. I think Golden State would probably take that, especially if they’re getting a draft cap. You’re getting draft capital. You’re getting that kind of diverse skill set for Christophs. If he is healthy and he’s an expiring contract if he isn’t, that feels more like Golden State would do that. I a little bit trickier for the Boston Fit in my opinion. Oh well, there you go. There goes my Jaylen Brown joke. Who’s next? Oh man, we’ll get into the next team. I’ll say very quickly uh as Sacramento is not one of those teams that projected to have cap space. If you’re looking at salaries in terms of a sign and trade uh opportunity, uh Zack Lavine is the highest paid player in Sacramento right now slated to make about $48 million as you enter the new league year. And so one base question I should have asked you. What do you think Jonathan Kamiga gets? Uh I have no I have no idea. I don’t know. Hey, that’s so like I was thinking about I was like he he gets paid. He’s going to get paid. Someone’s going to pay him a lot of money. I’ll put it that way. He’s going to get paid. And so like I as I was thinking through this, I kind of set the baseline at like 4400 to like 25 a year. That feels like the low end. I certainly don’t think he’s going to get maxed out by anyone. Um, but like somewhere in that 25 to 30 mil a year range is probably where I think Kaminga lands. And so with that, if you’re trying to get a Zack Lavine deal, as Golden State, I think was loosely linked to Zack Lavine before he was ultimately moved to Sacramento, then you’re looking at Kaminga plus Moody plus heel to get there salary-wise, like there’s a construction you can make. And if you’re looking at again 25 mil a year for Kaminga, Demard Rosen is right under $25 million slate to make that much next season. So if you want to get into that, you can. There are avenues here for assign a trade is the general point. But let’s get into the next team. Uh you mentioned cap space. Let’s go ahead and get the cap space option out of the way. Steve, the Brooklyn Nets. Okay. Not a lot of money committed, which is why they have money to spend. But if you want to add some athleticism to the room, and this is a Brooklyn team, as I annoyed you with during the season on the Dunker Spot podcast, hey, we are going to pressure the ball. We are going to be aggressive. We are going to run as much as we can. Jonathan Kaminga I think would slot right into that. I’d be curious to see what Jordy Fernandez does with Jonathan Kaminga, what it looks like offensively in particular, what kind of leeway he would get. Uh I would imagine you would get all the NBA Twitter jokes for uh Jonathan Kaminga and Cam Thomas aggression, but uh that is kind of your openw world option for Jonathan Kaminga there. How would you feel about him going to Brooklyn? I wouldn’t mind Jonathan Kaminga the player being on this Brooklyn Nets team. I guess for me it’s what’s the cost? Uh because I think the way Brooklyn played last year, you saw a team that was willing to move the ball. Like you mentioned the pace, but they were really trying to attack. They were trying to find gaps and openings. Didn’t necessarily always have the drivers to get there, but they had the mindset to keep continuing to run through their offense. I think Kaminga would help fix a lot of that as far as someone else who can get downhill and maybe force attention and finish in the paint. Uh I think that’d be a good context for him to kind of get going a little bit. But I’d float this out there, and this is from uh Jeffrey in the chat. Uh Claxton for Kaminga. would you do that? Would you feel that type of way about it? Because my thing with Brooklyn, it’s very easy to tap the Brooklyn Nets button. It’s very difficult to understand where they’re going to take this this rebuild. And I don’t know if they’re just going to go splash young talent. I have a feeling they they have a trick up their sleeve. I don’t know where it is, but I don’t know if it’s Jonathan Kaminga. Would you would you do Claxton? of like I personally would because I am a big Nick Claxton fan as you personally know and so I think that’d be a fun fit in Golden State. Um I don’t know if Golden State would would be my thing but also I think just to kind of zoom out I think Brooklyn is an interesting landing spot because they do have the salary in a Nick Clax if you want to make that kind of deal. I’m sure if it’s actually going to be a sign and trade Golden State would absolutely ask for Cam Johnson and see at least see what the price is going to be. I don’t know if they could get that done without being a little bit unreasonable, but that option needs to exist. And again, Brooklyn could just say, “Hey, let’s just I actually like Jonathan. Jordy might pound the table for him. Here’s 32 mil a year. Let’s see if Golden State wants to match.” So, the fact that you have signing trade possibilities and just signing possibilities is where Brooklyn made sense to me. Uh, but yeah, I I would do a Kaminga Clax, you know, kind of, you know, build a package around that. I wouldn’t mind that. Understood. Now, Paper Plane is zoomed in. Get it? uh with Cam Johnson for a Kamingo. So you pick one. Here we go. You pick one. If you’re the Warriors, which one do you take? Do you take the center to fill the need or you take Cam Johnson who would appear to fit in what you want to do offensively? Uh I think you take Cam Johnson in this case. Okay. I think you get the you get the size and the shooting, especially if you’re talking about you’re still going to have Jimmy Butler in tow, you’re gonna have Draymond Green in tow, you still have time to get another center. more. Hey, do you just lean more into Quinton Post with a full regular season? Like that could be an option for him. I don’t think they want to land there obviously, but I don’t think that’d be the worst ideal. They do still have other bigs like Kaman Lee May be back. You still have Trace Jackson Davis. So I think if one of those two are absolutely available for Golden State, I think you go Cam Johnson. But okay, let’s move to another team. Steve, this one is I feel you’re going to furl the brow on this one, but how do we feel about the New Orleans Pelicans as a potential landing spot for Jonathan Domingo? And I thought about the Pelicans twofold, right? One, from the Golden Estate perspective, if they sniffed around Kevin Durant, if they sniffed around and ultimately got Jimmy Butler, they’re absolutely going to at least call and see what the Zion Williamson price is, right? Not that they can get him. Not that New Orleans wants to move him, but you at least call on that front. And if there are conversations to be had, it kind of has to start with the John the Gaming salary slot, whatever it ends up being, 4100, 4120, whatever the case may be. And you can easily construct the sign and trade deal around that if you want to with Zion slate to make a little over $39 million heading into the new league year. So you have that aspect, but if you don’t go Zion, do you go CJ McCollum for a little bit more shot creation? Do you go to the middle tier contracts? You ask about Herb Jones. New Orleans probably says absolutely not, but you at least ask about him. You have Kelly Oolen there. If this is a lower average contract value for Jonathan Kaminga, Kelly Olen plus some of the other young guards or wings that New Orleans has. Like I think there are multiple pathways to get something done. And in general, let’s say this ends up being like a CJ deal or something like that, right? You get the Jonte Murray back, you have Trey Murphy the third, you have Jonathan Dominga, you have Zion Williamson. That’s a lot of sized athleticism across the one through four spots. I think that kind of set the table for New Orleans moving into whatever this new era is going to be or revol or evolved era is going to be of their new roster. So, I thought it was intriguing. Uh, how would you feel about Kaminga in New Orleans? Um, well, one, I don’t know if the Warriors would want to have CJ and Stephen Curry on the floor at the same time. Um, um, I I don’t like Kaminga as the piece for a Zion trade. Mhm. And I wonder, you’ve got Trey Murphy who’s blossomed. You just traded Brandon Ingram. You still have Herb Jones. How much room is there truly for Jonathan Kaminga? Unless you’re playing Zion at the five. And they’ve kind of been determined to do Kelly and Zion at the same time because of Kelly’s versatility. So, I kind of feel like he he would kind of be in the the same zone to a degree. So, I think it fits like timelinewise. But with their roster, trickier fit for you. Yeah, I don’t know. Like I don’t trading Brandon Ingram to get Jonathan Gaminga seems interesting. I don’t know if that’s going to be Joe Dumar’s first move. Well, the counterpoint is Joe Dumar’s. But I understand. So I I think that’s that’s fair. That’s fair. I just wanted to get your take the temperature on that one. Oh no, wait. Hold on. Hold on. I see in the chat the Nets have the cap space to sign him without a trade. Now, here’s the thing. Very crucially, they’re not going to do that. Continue. the very quick I hear you, but no. Uh, but no, want to float New Orleans out there. That felt more like a wild card to me. We’ll get to the rankings uh soon, but want to see what you thought about New Orleans. We can now move to the next team, a team that’s been mentioned in the chat a few times at this point, variations of a deal. Steve, the Chicago Bulls. If the best context for Jonathan Kaminga, the basketball player, is an uptempo system to where he can just run, drive, cut, and not have to make a bunch of complex reads. We just want to get up and down the floor, the Chicago Bulls, who took a bunch of threes, had a top five pace in the NBA this past season, very much was kind of molded in the image of Josh Giddy pushing the ball, Kobe White being able to score, improved as a playmaker as well. Like, those are some fun guards for Kaminga to play off of in general. the actual play style fit feels like the strongest of the 14 that we talked about so far. And again, if you’re getting into because I don’t think Chicago is slated to have cap space this summer without doing drastic things heading into free agency in terms of salary, it won’t take much for them to get there. Especially if you’re thinking like 25 27 mil a year for Jonathan Kaminga. Nicole Vuch who’s been mentioned in the chat slated to make a little under $22 million. Zack Collins expiring 18. Kevin Herd expiring 18. Lonzo Ball at 10. You can com you can combine some of those salaries to get something done. So play style fit makes sense to me. Contracts are easy to put together to make a trade. Seems like a slam dunk for me. Uh but how would you feel about Kaminga in Chicago? I like the fit. I mean, especially when we talk about the way the Bulls played this year. I mean, you mentioned the stats, but they got up and down and everyone played aggressive. If you looked at some of the guys that came over from different teams either in the offseason or during the season, they looked different. Kevin Herder, for example, comes right off my mind. He looked like a completely different basketball player in Chicago because of the style that they played because of the confidence and the the usage. I mean, everyone kind of has an opportunity to be involved, especially if you grab it and go in transition. I think that’s a place where Jonathan Kaminga could really blossom. And timelinewise, he’s young enough to be a part of, you know, core you don’t want to overuse, but the the the future talent, the the people that might build us the next bridge, you know what I mean? Now, Slick says Bulls need to coach first. Now, come on. Billy Donovan did not have the Bulls playing this level of offense for you to come in here and say the Bulls need to coach first. Give him a little bit of credit, man. You know what I mean? Just a little bit of smidge. But I I I like that fit. Probably one. It’s one of my favorite ones. I think it just kind of makes sense for both sides play style-wise and just timeline wise. Now, now the critical question. Everyone has said vouch. Everyone has said vouch for for Kaminga. There’s no other trade that they would have to do, right? Like if you’re Golden State, you just get VC and be like, “Hey, we have Draymond and Jimmy. You’ll be fine on defense.” Uh that’s that’s probably the bit. Yeah. And I think the Golden State Warriors were linked to Nicole Buchvich at the trade deadline as they were also trying to bring Jimmy Butler in. So it’s not like we don’t have a hint of interest here if they were to put something together. So again, that just feels like at least a phone call to make between the two teams this summer. Um we got a couple more teams before we get into the official rankings of these landing spots. Wait. Wait, wait, wait. Before you get to another landing spot from Hot Mike in the chat, we need Pullback. Well, I’m afraid I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is we are about to talk about Jordan Pool’s team, the Washington Wizards, as a potential Jonathan Domingo landing spot. The bad news, however, is I don’t think now again, Jordan P does not have a no trade clause. So, like if they want to make a deal happen, it could technically happen. like the years past, etc. in a little like from a CBA’s perspective, he could go back to Golden State. I don’t know if Jordan Pool’s coming back to Golden State outside of insert amount of road games here. You know what I mean? I I don’t I don’t know if that’s going to happen. I understand the desire because I thought Jordan P had a pretty solid year last season. It was certainly a step up from what he looked like in his Wizards debut season. I I don’t know if Golden State’s going to be able to pull that off. But as far as the Washington fit, you just have youth and athleticism in the perimeter room. And so this just kind of fits the theme right now with what the Washington Wizards have been trying to build post Bradley Bill era. Let’s get some athleticism in the room. We’ve established a little bit of ball movement in the half court. We don’t mind pressuring the balling at the defensively as well. Let’s see how Jonathan Kaminga slots into that. Like my personal concern is too strong. But like my initial like push back thought would just be Kaminga is good. Do I want to take the ball out of Jordan Pool’s hands, out of Balo’s hands, out of Bub Carrington’s hands? Shout out to the all rookie team selection. How does him sliding into the hierarchy kind of shift things on that front? But this is absolutely a talent play. And if this is going to be a sign of trade, Washington also has plenty of contracts available to make something like this happen. So, makes sense to me. Overall, how would you feel about a Wizards fit? I think the opportunity would be there for him. I’m sure the Wizards are trying to assemble talent to get ready to take the next step. I don’t know if they’re all the way there yet. I think for me, uh, the interesting part is one, they have a lot of wingish players and they have a lot of players who are willing to shoot and drive the basketball. And so I’m trying to figure out in my mind how like a Jordan Pool swing to Alex Rar to Jonathan Kaminga works without one of them driving to the uh I’m going to take my analysis hat off real quick and I’m going to be a quick troll. Didn’t they just have Kyle Koozma? Okay, my analysis hat is back on. Uh looking at the chat, Wizards will be the land of misfit warriors. There’s also that. So, I think that’s where it’s like the the concept of the team makes sense. We’re young and we want to get better, but then it’s like, hey, well, a lot of this Hey, I’ll ask you this. So, who should the Warriors try and get? Marcus Smarter or Chris Middleton? Oh, you know, can I take my analysis hat on off and put my fan hat on real quick? Yeah. It’d be cool to see Chris Middleton go to a a good team. I’d like to see him in Golden State. I think that’d be neat. him and Jimmy Butler playing together would would be a pretty fun bit late in games. That’d be neat. Um, but hashtagdarn is my official answer to your question. Well, real quick before we move on, let me go to the chat real quick. Uh, from Asta, if you guys can see this, we can see it. We’re not John Cena. Do you think that adding Kaminga would stunt Matas Buzzel’s growth? It’s a good question. That’s a fair question. I don’t I don’t think so. I think for me that would be what do you believe Matas’s on ball potential is or what do you want his on ball usage to be I guess is the more uh probably the more accurate question to ask on that front cuz I don’t think they would necessarily get in the way cuz like Matsu was pretty much grabband go or close out attacker within the offense and because Chicago plays up and down as often as they do like there was still plenty of touches for him to go around. If you want to ramp it up into we want you to initiate more offense then like maybe. But like Kaminga isn’t necessarily that guy either. Like I think it’s going to be more of let’s start Kaminga in the corner, set him a pin down, he’s catching on the move, he can make plays from there. So like I don’t think there’s a ton of overlap between the two. But I do understand the concern. Well, I think it’s a good question, but I think there’s a lot of opportunity in Chicago to be able to go ahead and make plays. The ball moves quickly, so I don’t necessarily think it’s so slow that they both wouldn’t be able to be aggressive at the same time. I think it it would work out. I wouldn’t wouldn’t mind it. Big question. I’m going to play a game. See if I can get the uh the sixth Jonathan commanding spot. I’m going to get the help from B King in the chat. Uh this has to be it. He’d be an absolute star in Miami. They always seem to get guys to play a level above. I nailed it. That’s the sixth one, right? Uh no, but you are in the right division. And we just talked about the Wizards. So, do you have any more guesses before we get to the final thing? Orlando. Uh, no. Unfortunately, not going to be Orlando. You only got two. Charlotte. It is indeed in another wild card division, the Charlotte Hornets. Where one, I think just on a base level, it would be very fun to get a Charlotte Hornet forced turnover or missed. LaMelo Ball gets the ball. On one side is Brandon Miller. On the other side is Jonathan Dominga. Those will just be some very exciting fast breaks. And as we’ve talked a lot about uh throughout the history of the Dunk Spot podcast, just general rim pressure, keeping an eye on that with Charlotte. LaMelo’s gotten better inside the arc, but he’s not all the way there yet in terms of puncturing the paint. Brandon Miller showing some growth as a driver, but isn’t all the way there yet in terms of the read and the comfort and the footwork. you add Jonathan Kaminga to this mix, he doesn’t completely solve the rim pressure issue for Charlotte, but he goes a long way towards helping that and ultimately or potentially opening up some more closeout attacks and some catch and shoot opportunities for Brandon Miller for LaMelo Ball. So, like it feels like an interesting basketball fit at the very least. And terms of sign and trade options, Charlotte also has a lot of midsize contracts to sort through if you want to go if you want to get that front. So if Golden State just wants to go role player shopping in place of Jonathan Minga salary slot, they could do that. Nerk is an expiring 19 mil, Josh Green at about 14, Grant Williams at about 14, Josh at about eight, uh if you want to swing for a young big man, we just saw Mark Williams get traded this season and then the trade didn’t count anymore. So if they want to make if they want to push the Mark Williams button and combine that with some of these other salaries, like that is something that is available to Golden State at the very least. Again, not a guarantee that a trade gets done, but they have options. So Charlotte was interesting to me. Uh, but how would you feel about a Charlotte fit? I like the Hornets fit. Again, I I think him next to Brandon Miller with LaMelo would be fun. I think it’s a team that’s looking to grow, but I think offensively being able to have more attack, more firepower, more options to get downhill. You got Brandon Miller who can play on and off ball so you can get some movement. You have the element of LaMelo being able to kick out to him whether it’s in transition or pick and roll. He can get downhill that way. He can also have the opportunity to have the ball in his hands played multiple positions. So, I think that’s would be a win for Charlotte as they try to make the next leap. Uh, real quick from Sin City in the chat, what are the chances he comes back to the dubs? Leica loves him and he’s the last of the two timeline that I feel he’s unwilling to concede. And that’s interesting. I mean, Steve Kerb was like, “Hey man, if if he comes back, we’ll play with Draymond and Jimmy.” I was trying to win and Draymond was like, “Well, he’s gonna get paid somewhere, whether it’s here or somewhere else.” So, the door isn’t closed. What are your quick thoughts? Uh, I probably say 6040 he’s back, honestly. Okay. like to the to the chat uh point like Joe Le does just love him and I think generally people in ownership that really enjoy prospects generally don’t want to give up on those guys. They don’t have to. And the fact that Jonathan Kaminga is entering restricted free agency just kind of gives them a get out of jail free card. Like oh well this is reasonable money. We can just match this like I don’t have to work too hard to keep him. So I’d say probably as of today is probably more likely than not that he does return to Golden State. Um so I think that was a fair question. Are you ready for rankings? Well, very very quickly before we get the rankings, tell the people the the the six landing spots that you uh went ahead and came up with. There we go. So, recapping the list before we actually rank the landing spots, the Chicago Bulls, the Brooklyn Nets, the New Orleans Pelicans, we have the Sacramento Kings, the Washington Wizards, and the Charlotte Hornets. Those are your six teams that I laid out for Steve as potential Jonathan Kaminga landing spots if he does in fact leave Golden State. And now it is time to rank these landing spots. Let’s go to the board. A very fancy board. We love the floating question marks here. Number six, Steve, we are going to go with the Charlotte Hornets. Oh, I’m surprised they ran so low. I know that caught you off guard and I was a little surprised that you like you like the fit more than I thought you would. I thought you going to be like the guys, no, absolutely not. What do you mean? But I do think while Charlotte does have midsize contracts to trade in a potential signing trade deal for John Gaminga, you would want the role players to be a step up above a Grant Williams, a Josh Green. Like there are certainly worlds in which those guys hit in Golden State like we’ve seen. Like I’d be interested to see Josh Green in a read and react system. I could also see a world in which it is the I guess a mixture of the pods and Moses Moody problems where like hey buddy you’re open. Are you actually going to shoot? And so I don’t know if Golden State wants another redux of that. Grant Williams, we know he will shoot. What is the three-point percentage going to be? How well is he going to hold up defensively? Something that you’ve pointed out before, Steve. Now wait, hold on. Grant Grant Williams and Draymond Green in the same lineup. Hey. Yeah, that could Yeah, that’d be fun, but also uh I feel like there could be some talks had in uh in practice or something. So that’s where I’m like, oo, Charlotte’s probably sixth among these teams. But again, you could still make the argument for it happening. All right, who’s next? Number five, we go with the New Orleans Pelicans. I think the team that you would personally have six, uh, based on your reaction, again, a lot of pathways for them to get it done, but to your point, do you want the lineup to be this way? Do you want to move from Brandon England and then move immediately to Jonathan Kaminga, who is technically younger, but do you run yourself into the same questions? And do you get the free version of Jonathan that you’re hoping to get? So, I think that is a fair rebuttal on your point. So, we’re going to go New Orleans Pelicans at five. Number four, we have the Sacramento Kings. One, we just don’t know if they actually do want to punt on their veteran talent, but Lord knows they have a ton of it to move in a potential Kaminga sign and trade deal. So, I do still like the landing spot there, but that’s more of a willingness from Sacramento than anything else, at least for me. Uh, number three on the list, we have the Washington Wizards. Uh, do not believe that Jordan Pool will be going back to Golden State, but again, I like the fit. I think there are some valid concerns about what adding Kaminga to the hierarchy means for the rest of the young wings and guards that they have in the room. And so if that is your if that’s your hold out, then I think that’s understandable. But I do still like the fit and that certainly is a timeline fit in terms of Jonathan Kaminga’s age. And I don’t think it breaks the bank for Washington so far. Uh number two, we have the Brooklyn Nets. Again, if you if the Warriors want to go veteran hunting in a signing trade, they’re going to push for Cam Johnson. Nick Claxton would make sense and in general the Nets could just say, “Hey, we like that guy. Let’s just toss some money towards that guy.” There’s a level of ease in terms of acquiring John Devinga that I think greases the wheels on this kind of fit. Which means number one, uh certainly the most popular option in the chat going back to the beginning of this stream. The Chicago Bulls, let John the Gaming run with the Bulls. We we could leave it there. That’s that’s where it’s at. I think John think Chicago’s the top option for John the Gaming. It’s funny you said running with the Bulls. I saw in the chat uh Draymond Green and Grant Williams would have a steel cage match in the first two days of training camp. So very interesting concepts right there. Bulls in Brooklyn. I see the chat kind of agreeing. Nikias, will you let the folks know uh what the top Jonathan Kaminga landing spots were ranked by you? There we go. We sure can to recap the list. The number one landing spot for Jonathan Kaminga, the Chicago Bulls. Number two, the Brooklyn Nets. Number three, the Washington Wizards. Number four, the Sacramento Kings. Number five, the New Orleans Pelicans. And number six, the Charlotte Hornets, which it just dawned on me, do we have the Pelicans and the Hornets on this list? That’s that’s pretty interesting. But those are your top six. Do we have any final comments in the chat? Steve, do you have any final thoughts on these teams? Any thoughts on Jonathan in particular before we get out of here? No. Uh although I would my my my secret number seven would have been Utah. But take us home. Ah, Utah would be an interesting fit. I saw another chat uh member earlier in the stream mention Detroit as a team. If you want to add some more offensive juice alongside Kane Cunningham, that would be interesting. Um, okay. I think it’s some good stuff with that. Thank y’all for rocking with us. Again, you want to tap in with the Bleacher Report app or the Bleacher Report YouTube every weekday for NBA Daily. 1. Here's the biggest issue and nobody talks about this. Everyone wants to trade JK for a piece that "fits." Here's the problem, everyone on our roster "fits" a role. we don't need more system fits, we need a couple of guys who can get a bucket on their own. The system can't just be for 1 guy every play for 82+ games.

  2. In the Kings trade, I would rather trade for Sabonis than for Zach Lavine, just pray that Dray valms his shit down πŸ˜‚

  3. Good list. Somebody will offer JK around $140-150 mil this summer and no way the Dubs match it without a trade partner. Good kid with an awfully high ceiling so I hope he gets to realize his potential wherever he goes.

  4. The biggest misconception is jk is inconsistent. Bs. He’s inconsistent when given inconsistent minutes. 30 mins a game he’s 21 6 and 2. 40 percent from 3. Very consistent. Play him. Stop perpetuating the inconsistent crap.

  5. Kuminga will and ideally should stay with Warriors on a 1 and 1 or 2 and 1 deal so that he can continue to improve to reach his full potential. Going to a Nets or Bulls will destroy his chances of being a winning player

  6. This was a bit one sided. Bulls sounds great for JK and the bulls but vucevic ain’t getting it done as a warriors fan. Bulls don’t have the assets for what the warriors need. We need another wing/guard scoring option and a big man. JK’s trade value just went up.

  7. Re-sign JK.

Move Jimmy and Dray (and Podz, Moody and TJD).

Get Giannis (and preferably Vucevic and Lonzo).
