Recap: Pelicans, Shell host Adopt-a-School reading event at Wyandotte Elementary School
[Music] What’s up everybody? Today we are here with Shell at W dot elementary school for our adopt to school program. Today we got 50 kids from across the school to provide them with LEH kids from the Louisiana Endowment for Humanities fund to help support kids in their ability to read. We were very excited to have visitors from the Pelicans here today. Our students were super excited to have visitors. They enjoyed listening to the stories, meeting some of the people, and as well as getting their packs, which had t-shirts, reading supplies, art supplies. They had a great time, and we are very grateful that you came to visit us. It’s super fulfilling, and it’s a super rewarding part of the job to come to schools to read to the kids. And it’s such a small thing for us, but it’s such a big thing for them. And they love reading. And to be able to mend reading and the pelicans for them and create that memory is amazing.
The New Orleans Pelicans joined Wyandotte Elementary School as part of the Shell Adopt-a-School program to promote literacy and student engagement. Grades K-4 received customized reading kits provided by the Louisiana Endowment-Humanities (LEH).
