Why Jalen Brunson Left The Mavericks

Why Jalen Brunson Left The Mavericks

Nick’s free agency. Was there a chance in Dallas? The bright lights in New York were calling your name. Talk to us about your free agency. There was a chance. Okay. There’s a chance. I really did want to stay in Dallas. I think before the season, we try to extend the most we can get was like four years and 55 million. Obviously, we wanted to do that. I wanted to stay there. I thought I I thought I would be there for a long time. It’s funny because my agent was like, “Man, you can do so much. You can do you can get more. You can get more.” I’m saying like, “Well, like I just I want to be safe. I’m not trying to gamble right now. this is not something you really gamble with if it’s out there. But they they were like, “We want to see where we’re at.” But we were like, “All right, well, if we’re not going to do it, I kind of don’t want to do it until after the season. I’m not trying to think about this.” During the season, right? There’s a period where Luca went out and I started to start. I was playing really well. I think I was averaging like 20 and like six maybe, whatever. It was about that 20 25 mark. And so we went back, we’re like, “Hey, like the deal’s there. We’re thinking about it. Like I’ll do it like right now.” Still, it was no like it was wasn’t a hard no. It was just like, “We want to see. We want to see.” So I’m like, “So this was Dallas. This is Dallas. still doubt trade deadline comes I’m like thinking like all right well if the if I’m not getting extended I’m probably going to get traded probably I think the way I’ve been playing like there’s just like well I’m playing somewhat decent that didn’t happen and then um yeah so I the the deal came on the table after the trade deadline I was like I I no I think I’ve outgrown that now right personally that’s what I thought I was like I think I’ve outgrown that obviously going to playoffs Luke gets hurt like second to last game or last game of the season he’s out for the first three games and I obviously did what I did Ain’t no looking back. Ain’t no looking back. That all happens. So yeah, we lose in the Western Conference Finals and I remember seeing something on Twitter after the game and it was like Mark saying, “Hey, like we can pay him the most money.” He says that on Twitter. He says it like in the in the interview like like literally right after the game. We can pay him more than anybody, you know, and I think um I think he wants to stay and that’s most important. So I’m thinking like all right, I’m okay. After that it was like crickets. From my point of view, I can’t speak to anyone else on my point of view it was crickets. Mhm. And obviously I saw like New York making moves and saw all that stuff. I was like home close to home. Two hours away from where I was or an hour away from where I was born. Parents live on the East Coast. Whole family’s on the East Coast. So I started thinking like I could this this could be a real thing. Then here we are. Best move you made.

  1. Brunson did what kd, harden and kyrie couldnt do. Play for the garden and lead them to an ecf,

  2. Dallas must have regrets now…no Brunson and no Doncic! 😢 I like that both players landed where they’re happy now. Great players, exciting and exceptional. I also like the close relationships they have with their Dads! ❤Brunson has the Knicks back on top! 😅

  3. Unless Luka is willing to completely change his game it won’t work out for him to win a title. He doesn’t play defense and doesn’t want to stay in shame and he’s ball dominant. I knew that the Luka and Lebron experiment wouldn’t work because both are ball dominant and neither plays defense.

  4. Dude did not wanna stay in Dallas. Played his hand to get as much money as he could from Knicks. He wanted to go where his daddy was 😊

  5. New York really has to root for Minnesota to win. I mean New York has to take care of Indiana first. It’s obviously not a given that they are just gonna beat the Pacers but Oklahoma City is gonna be tough for anybody to beat. I think the Knicks would beat Minnesota, but I’m not sure about OKC.

  6. We got rid Nash so Brunson was easy for Cuban, I almost stopped watching the Mavz after that😊

  7. The irony is Luka had a star next to him the whole time. Dallas just didn't believe in him. Mavs are sad
