Shai’s teammates reveal when they knew he’d be the 2024-25 Kia NBA MVP 🎥 | SGA2MVP | OKC Thunder
The moment I knew the MVP was was going to you is just from the uh past couple years, how your leadership has been growing towards the team and and and your teammates from when I first got here in 2020 to this year in 2025. And just seeing the growth and the steps he he’s taken, you know, being a leader for for our team, it makes him the MVP in my eyes. His 50% is a lot of people’s 100%. He’s a guy that it doesn’t happen by chance. He puts the work in. He gets the results. As a great player, it’s hard to get much better at something when without losing your strengths in other areas. But when I saw him continue to get better in other areas of his game, I knew he was going to be MVP this season. Alexander still scoring with ease. I knew Shay was the MVP about a month into the season when I would look up at the end of the third quarter and he’d have 35 six and eight and a couple steals and it felt like he was just playing a regular game. I think throughout the year just there was a lot of games where he like he didn’t even play the fourth. I knew Shay was the MVP when he had 50 for the fourth time and could have done it a few more times if you didn’t have to sit at the fourth court. At that point, I was like, “Yeah, there’s there’s no way he’s not the MVP.” I knew Shay was MVP when I first signed with OKC and I got here in the first game against Dallas. Shay was just out there doing some things I haven’t seen players do before. And just his shiftiness, athleticism, his decision- making, the way he can score the ball. I knew he was he was different. SGA with the transition layup off the turnover. I think his MVP moment for me this year was we were in Golden State. We were up big at the time and they made a really big comeback and then the biggest shot of the night he hit it he hits a step back three to kind of ice the game and just kind of like from there like that approach and just kind of like the season that he had up until that point was just kind of like right on brand for what he was doing all year. cut through the defense. The first time I realized that Shay was the MVP was uh the first time we played Boston at home. The way that she led the team are making comeback in the second half. Tatum had a free free dunk and um Shay put in the effort to go down, block the shot and he got the ball back and then he threw me alive. [Applause] the energy that I felt from that moment and kind of his excitement and the raw emotion that he gave during that moment. Seeing how he was able to sacrifice for a team offensively and defensively was probably the moment I knew he was MVP. The moment I knew Shay was MVP was the Detroit Pistons game on the road. The Detroit is known for being very physical. We had a couple guys down. Boo goes down. Really tough game. You know, I got hurt in the game as well. Lou goes down. I think we had seven or eight players. He kind of just went into a flow state. He was making plays after play. Took over the game and he hit some crazy shots. He just kind of just took the game and just knew what we needed in that moment. He just kind of willed our team to a win. There was no way we were losing that game. What a move by SGA. That was my moment.

Honestly I knew this guy gonna be mvp when he destroyed team usa in fiba world cup, they put edwards, brunson, haliburton, mikail bridges, josh hart, austin reaves on him and nothing works, that's when I knew that this guy is a superstar talent.
SGA, so well-deserved 👏. You are one my two fav players. I modeled my game after you. Now go win that ring and Finals MVP 🏆. #ThunderUp
His game against the Pistons on the road was one of the most dominant regular season performances in recent years. He put belt to ass on these Pistons mfs who were fouling him the whole game but still couldn't stop him to drop near 50 without JDub and Chet on the court.
Whoever is putting these together and editing these needs a raise
I knew Shai would become MVP when watching him come alive in the Bubble playoffs! Dude was straight ballin and nobody really was even talking about him outside of us local fans!
