Jamahl Mosley Responds to Jaylen Brown Fight Comments | Magic Practice

What did uh the film re I’m sorry. What did the film review from um watching? Uh you know, there was a lot to look at both sides of the basketball. You know, offensively, our ability to play a little bit faster. Uh create extra possessions within that game. Um defensively being able to keep them off of the offensive glass. Um our ability to to to sit down and guard our yard in a lot of the areas, but there was also a lot of cleanup we need to take care of. Um just making sure we do a lot of that without without fouling. Uh and making sure we’re communicating at a high level um as there are guys getting beat to the basket. Jaylen Brown said last night that the physicality out there said it’s not starting to look like basketball and he said if you guys have to fight the second round. What do you make of those comments and that reaction from something like? Well, just like we talked about with our guys in there, it’s playoff basketball. It’s going to be physical and that then you expect that. So that’s that’s part of what you know we know a playoff series is. It’s a physical basketball game. You look at it when you look you mentioned yesterday the job that Gary did the scoring may not be there but how valuable in a game so few possessions physicality that we’re seeing in this series. How valuable that I think it’s been so important and so critical to what we’re doing. Again a lot of it doesn’t show up in the numbers. Um but there’s possessions that you see that there’s a tap out on offensive rebound. there’s a big steal down the backstretch, you know, when he guards Peyton Pritchard one-on-one. Those little things always don’t always show up on the stat sheet with scoring, but it’s those little small plays that in a in a low possession game can help you out a ton. Obviously, you’re going to need you’re going to need points to to win, but to get those kind of kind of like gritty pretty gritt pretty efforts talk about the plays on the margin margins. How was how val how valuable is that to have multiple guys making those scary those were gigantic making sideline it’s the small plays those are the things those are winning plays those 50/50 basketballs how can we continue to win those battles is going to be key for us kind of along that by committee approach when you’re able to deploy defensive lineup close out a game that also provides spacing like Gary KCP in front how much does that you know help you especially when you know, potentially playing with a lead to close out a game for those type of guys. No, it was huge. Uh the ability to switch, you know, multiple pick and rolls, guys can sit down and guard and their positioning, having the space on the floor to allow our guys to get downhill to attack in order to find the spray outs to the right guys at the right time, but just having room on the floor with the shooting as well as guys that can sit down and guard multiple positions. Jamal, I mean, history doesn’t win basketball games. Oldings don’t win basketball games, but you know, the Celtics win at the KIA Center in like since 2022 and you guys have won all your playoff games here with this current leadership. What is it about the Kia Center um that gives you guys that kind of our fans, this crowd, I I can’t say it enough, our fans and that crowd last night was unbelievable. uh the energy that that building provides, the fans that have the support, how they come and cheer us on and and get the energy going when we’re getting big time stops or making a big shot. You can just feel that atmosphere. It is it is something special the way that our community has gotten behind us in order to, you know, keep propelling us to wins at home. Last night, um during post game, I mean, you weren’t there, but the guys who who came and talked to us, they were, I don’t want to say subdued, but they were not celebratory. Why? Why? We haven’t done anything. What do we And and I say this, you know, as nicely as possible, what we’re celebrating what we’re supposed to be doing, taking care of home court. And so there’s no real reason to celebrate when you’re just doing the job that you’re supposed to do. Now, when the team takes a road win, then that’s when you can, you know, that’s when it really starts. But us being able to take care of home is what’s necessary. You don’t want to celebrate what you’re supposed to already do. Is that part of the resolve and confidence that that this team wants to show? Yeah. Yeah. I gave the guys a a little example in there about what, you know, certain guys that used to score touchdowns. I think it was Barry Sanders would score touchdowns and he never celebrated. It didn’t seem he would just drop the ball, hand it to the referee, walk off because that’s what he expects to do. When you expect to do something, you’re not surprised when it happens. And so our guys need to continue to keep that mentality of this is how we expect to play. This is what we expect to do. And if we play this way, the results, you know, good, bad, we can understand what we need to do. And then when you live with it from there, what then do you guys need to do then to win game four tomorrow and send the series back to Boston time to tie? And I think it’s, you know, cleaning up some of the, you know, some of the turnovers that happened. You know, being able to continue to share and move the basketball, uh, defend the right way without fouling. Uh, I think it’s repeating some of what we did uh, last night, but also finding the adjustments that they may make and recognizing them right away. You guys still falling healthy? Uh, yes, we are. saw a kind of take a look like at one point. Everything checked out. Everything checked out. Yep. Good. What was um going into that coach’s challenge on the play involving a baby? Uh did you have any indication that maybe possibly we had had any contact with with the Celtics player on? There was a little indication, but I thought he had gotten it clean enough that it wasn’t going to go into that realm, but that’s okay. you know, that’s part of, you know, he did a great job picking up full court, which is exactly what we need him to do, ask him to do, and I thought he got a he got a great hand on the basketball. Um, and sometimes you see that coming because, you know, they can override it with the foul, and you know, that’s what happened there. Do you feel like he’s How much more comfortable was he last night than he was saying game one? I thought AP was was great last night. I thought he did an unbelievable job of setting the tone as soon as he checked in the game. uh picking up full court, changing the game defensively, getting stops, uh steals to get out, get easy baskets that we’ve talked about, those small margins. And then offensively, just looking to be aggressive, attack the basket, making the quick, right, simple play.

Jamahl Mosley responds to Jaylen Brown criticizing the Magic for their fouls and saying that the Celtics might have to fight if Orlando isn’t playing basketball. Mosley said the series is going to be physical and they’re just playing playoff basketball.

  1. Jaylen dad is a former boxing champion a 7’1 heavyweight boxer so I would stay my lane he probably know how to box. Judging by his physique he could probably knock this guy out.

  2. Orlando is doing exactly what the NBA allows and they're doing it well.
Instead of going on live TV and saying there's gonna be a fight.
Just keep quiet, wait until game 4 and let them hands go.
You saying that means nobody is trying to do anything. You're just sending a message to the NBA.
We all know Boston is soft and they crack when you play physical.

  3. Without fouling? Thats literally all Orlando knows how to do. Its their only chance against the Celtics. Refs need to call these fouls before someone gets seriously hurt. I dont mind physicality but what they doing is straight up egregious.

  4. Celtics are soft and the Magic must exploit that to win. Real tough guys don't talk about it they just do it.

  5. and it’s a difference in physicality and deliberately injuring our big three. one per game. make it make sense. stop it man. you can’t win this series. no reason to hurt player’s deliberately. you will lose the next game. might get one more but you will not get any more than that

  6. "Only in the Magic vs. Celtics game are elbows flying everywhere, falling on everyone's faces. Yes, it's playoffs, but in other matchups, I didn't see flagrant fouls or blood.",..I hope Celtic can take revenge by flying elbows too.. I hope the refs can let it play..

  7. My issue with this series is that Yes Orlando is playing physical but the physicality should be allowed both ways. It is unfair that the Refs allow Orlando to be physical but when the Celtics do the same, the refs are blowing the whistle.

  8. they can fight back all they want no one in the world is scared of derrick white pritchard porzingis hauser kornet etc boston is soft as shit

  9. So far in this series, every flagrant hard foul, resulting in stitches and injuries, has been by Orlando. It's payback time.
