But this trade would see the Boston Celtics trading Derek White and Baylor Shear to the Detroit Pistons for Jaden Ivy, a top 10 protected 2027 first round draft pick and a top five protected 2029 firstround draft pick. So, in my personal opinion, this would be a very tough trade for the Celtics and their fan base to accept. Derrick White since coming to Boston has been a fan favorite and a tremendous player, especially too uh when it comes to the defensive side of the basketball. He was a pretty um important piece of their 2024 NBA championship. But with the Celtics facing a potential $500 million uh bill next season, this team wants to get rid of some contracts, get a little bit cheaper, and get underneath that tax and the apron. And someone like Derek White could very well be made expendable because of how much money he makes. So, the Celtics wouldn’t want to make this trade in a perfect world. Like, if Jason Tatum’s healthy, uh, this team, first off, is probably still playing in the playoffs right now, but also two, they’d probably run it back for next year. But, if they’re unable to trade Drew Holiday, um, and Chris Porzingis for any value, I think Derek or Derek White is probably the next player to be mentioned in trade conversations. So, if you are the Detroit Pistons, uh, getting someone like Derek White with championship experience, a tremendous perimeter defender, this this guy makes your team better. uh you place him alongside Kate Cunningham and this Pistons team could very well do damage next year and what I would say is a pretty weak Eastern Conference, but if you are the Boston Celtics, like you’re getting back Jaden Ivy, who is a pretty solid player, like a former high-end draft pick. I think if you were to go to Boston, he’d fit in perfectly with this group, and you’re getting back a couple first round draft picks, but I don’t think those draft picks will be anything of value in my opinion. So, this move is strictly financial uh from the Boston Celtics perspective, and this would be the Detroit Pistons taking advantage of that. So, I think Derrick White would be a perfect Detroit Pistons player. I think he makes this team better. And for those reasons, I think the Pistons win this trade. No questions asked in my opinion.
