“There’s A Lot Of Things We Can Do Better.” | Rudy Gobert Shootaround Sound | 05.24.25

Rudy, where do you think just things have to start tonight to get kind of get back into the series? I think just our our energy defensively, offensively, uh, you know, our intensity and, uh, just our mindset. Did anything in the first two games from what they were doing to you surprise you or were you taken off off guard by that or is it just kind of executing better on your end? I mean they’re doing exactly what they are good at doing. You know Shay is being Shay and defensively they’ve been uh you know really aggressive and uh they’ve been really good for the first two games. So it’s uh it’s just about us just keep getting better through this series and uh be able to do a better job sustaining those runs that they make. Ry, what needs to be a little different for you guys defensively uh tonight? I think just uh being able to do it 48 minutes, you know, not let uh anything distract us from, you know, doing keep doing the little things, you know, keep uh uh being aggressive, keep communicating, keep running back in transition. Um try to stay away from fouling as much as we can and uh just be just be ourselves. Rudy, you mentioned the fouling. How much of the whistles have been the story for you guys? It shouldn’t be the story. Uh this is the story should be about what we can control and uh and I think there’s a lot of things we can do better. So it’s for us it’s really about focusing on doing those things. Rudy, you know the importance of of not going down 03. You guys saw it last year in the conference finals, but you’re 4-1 at home this postseason. How are you talking about the importance of this game? what you can reclaim and the opportunity you have at home. I mean, I think it’s not even no need to even talk about it. I think we all are aware of, you know, the the importance of this game and uh, you know, we lost the first two on the road. Now, we get an opportunity to be at home and uh and we got to uh seize that opportunity as much as we can. Is it disheartening that it seems like for maybe 43 minutes of these games you’re playing them even if not better but those five minute disastrous sort of stretches are the things that sort of turn it what is that feeling like I mean it’s there’s two ways of seeing it right it can be it can be frustrating but at the same time it can be really positive to understand that uh there’s a lot of things that we can control and and they are a team that is good at doing that you know they they they give you big runs and uh they try to demoralize you with those runs and uh and I think they first two games they kind of did you know so to be honest so it’s really about controlling what we can control and uh being resilient you know keep our poise and uh keep believing in who we are and doing it through adversity and we’ve been doing the since I’ve been here we’ve been doing that you know so it’s really now that we’re in this moment to be able to keep How would you describe Anthony Edwards’s mindset approach the last two days? He’s he’s locked in, you know. He’s been really I know he’s been watching a lot of film. He’s been, you know, communicating a lot. So, he’s really uh yeah, he’s really locked in, you know. I mean, he’s I believe in him. He believes in us. Uh you know, and he’s is uh you know, he’s someone that is always up for any type of challenge. So, you know, we have a great great challenge in front ahead of us. You mentioned uh Shay being Shay. When you’re in a series like this and you see him game after game, he’s very unique, but how can you try and adjust and guide him differently to somehow stop him from getting to those spots in the 2. Just making him work, making him work. try to, you know, make his life as difficult as possible and uh try to be physical with him and uh and try to do it for 48 minutes. I mean, for as long as he’s on the court, you know, and it’s I mean, it’s the same with every great offensive player, you know, you want to you want to make them work as much as you can and then and then you live with the result. Do you for the team with a third quarter run like that in game four against Golden State? Um, was there any was that urgency? Was that what was the the elements that you guys had in that game that made that work? Game four against Golden State, you came out after halftime and just completely, you know, took that game in the third. I mean, I think it was just our defense, being who we are, being present in the moment, and uh that’s what it’s about, you know, just being enjoying the moment and giving everything we have in that moment and try to play as pure basketball as we can play on both ends. You’ve been in a lot of playoff fronts. How do you not uh let your mind go ahead to what the result means in a series like this? Uh because that’s not helpful. You know, I think whatever you you know, if you’re on the battlefield and you’re worried about the outcome, you you get shot and you’re dead. So, you got to be worried about what’s happening in front of you. Thanks. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it.

When will they realize this mf not gone save us fr and naz needs to hit his shots tonight theres no way around it tonight.

  3. You can't do any better a guy like SGA who played for calls from the refs because you can't beat the refs and him at the same time.

  4. Quit playing volleyball and grab the ball like a man. u looked like Shaq in the last two series, u seem to turn into a little boy in the paint with real centers.😅

  5. Please not Another heartbreak for Minnesota fans from football to basketball it does feels like we’re cursed 😢 please please make a greatest come back I still believe 🙏

  6. THIS GUY…😂 THE SOFTEST 7 FOOTER ALIVE 4 TIME DEFENSIVE CHAMP WHAT A JOKE… THATS WHY MVPS DONT MATTER CUZ THEY GIVE AWARDS 4 TIME TO SOMEONE LIKE HIM NO WONDER SHAQ BE CLOWNING HIM…

  7. Man I'm so sick and tired of watching Rudy swipe his hands instead of jumping up to block the shot. You are 7 foot something. I say a play where Dante was in transition and as he went up to lay there were 2 defenders going up with him so he dishes the ball back to Rudy who was trailing and instead of this guy going up and dunking the ball, he saw Dort coming and decided to turn around and throw the ball up with his back to the basket. Midget Dort made Rudy alter his course. He's so soft. In another play instead of going up and dunking he kicks the ball out to opposing player. Turnover. Lmao
Get this guy off the team. He's costing us for the 2 year in a row 😂

  8. There are 30 teams in the NBA, and you’re among the top 4—so hold your heads high, Timberwolves! No matter the outcome, win or lose, you’ve made Minnesota proud. Keep competing with heart!

  9. I don’t wanna hear any “our” everything should “my”. Bring your a game bruh we spent 250 mil and way too many picks on you to be a bum

  10. It’s time to trade Rudy. It would be nice if they could get Sabonis. He defends, rebounds, and is a good playmaker. If Ja or Trae is on the market, I’d look at them too. This team desperately needs a playmaking pg. Conley is too old and Rob is too inexperienced.
