Kelly Ubé Jr. also in a signing trade, Jared McCain and the number three overall draft pick in the 2025 NBA draft. So, reading this trade, I I was fine from the uh from the Sixers perspective giving up Grimes, giving up UB Jr. The second it hit Jared McCain, it was a little sketchy. And then the third overall draft pick this year is definitely a big-time swing. Now, if you’re the Atlanta Hawks, I don’t think trading away Trey Young, at least right now, is in their best interest. and they can unless you can get back some more players that helped them win. Now, now in this case, they get a little bit deeper with Quinton Grimes and Kelly Ubé Jr. They also get a very talented player who yes, he got injured last year, but before that showed tons of promise about potentially being the best player from last year’s NBA draft in Jared McCain. Like, could he be the point guard of the future for this Hawks team? He very well could, especially too if you’re able to get back a top three draft pick this year for a team in Atlanta that doesn’t have their draft capital in the foreseeable future. This is actually not a terrible trade. Like this could be a very fun trade for the Hawks to make. Uh they kind of be handing the keys to Rese, you know, Dyson Daniels, Anko Okongu, and the rest of this Atlanta Hawks roster. So the Trey Young era would officially be coming to an end. But if you’re a Hawks fan, you’re actually getting back a pretty solid trade package when it’s all said and done. So for me, the Sixers, I I just don’t think you’re a Trey Young trade away um from winning a championship. Especially too if you give up on Jared McCain plus the third overall draft pick this year. Those are two pretty valuable assets, especially too for a team that has a bit of an aging injury-prone roster with Joel Embiid as well as Paul George. I just wouldn’t take the risk. Now, if all these guys are on the court together and you throw in someone like uh um obviously Tyrese Maxi, like Tyrese Maxi, Trey Young, Paul George, Joel Embiid, that is really damn good. I don’t believe in this team come playoff time, though. I I just really don’t. Um, as Trey Young hasn’t really proven that in the past, neither has Joel Embiid and even Paul George for that matter. So, can they figure it out together? I don’t know. I could see this team doing very well in the regular season, but come playoff time fall a little bit short. So, this may surprise you guys, but if I had to pick a winner of this deal, I’d probably go with the Hawks just by a little bit. But, as always, leave your thoughts.
