Drafting Asa Newell Would Make the Chicago Bulls Frontcourt the Most Athletic!

Drafting Asa Newell Would Make the Chicago Bulls Frontcourt the Most Athletic!

Next up, we got Asa Newell from the University of Georgia. This 611, 220B power forward is definitely an intriguing prospect for the mid to late first round. Asa Newell, let’s talk about offensively. You want to talk about bouncy, good hands, good activity out there on the court, agility, this is your guy right here. You need a guy in the dunker spot, you need a athletic big man. Asa Newell is your guy. Um, great out of the pick and roll, roll to the basket, great timing. Those good hands get give him a good catching radius on those rolls to the basket and he finishes great. He keeps the ball over his head when he’s finishing at all times. Just watch him play. He keeps the ball above his head at all times. He’s a great second leap artist. This kid gets off the ground explosively, bro. So while you still coming down from your first jump, he already jumping up for his second, getting tipins, getting second opportunities for his basketball team. Asa Newell. Also in the post, he does have the basic bag of going over either shoulder, left or right shoulder. It’s nothing to be go crazy about, but he can improve with that. He has some good footwork in that post game. Hey, Senu, when it comes to shooting the basketball, he’s okay in the mid-range. He has a He’s a great spot up shooter. So, if you can even if he want to turn out of the post, out of those high posts and face up, he can shoot that little, you know, that little uh spot up jump shot. That face up jump shot, you know, left-hander. He’s going to be able to get it off against a lot of defenders. He got a high release. Um, but the three-point shooting is is is a lot to be desired. Uh, I think he’s shooting under 30% from three-point range. It’s something to be you got to work on it. It got a nice little stroke to it, but I’ve said it on previous videos. Uh, in this league, in this time, this generation of NBA basketball, you must get to about 35%. I think by looking at his uh release and this confidence and the poise on his jump shot that he can get it there. You just need to work on it. He’ll be a professional, so he’ll have the time to work on his craft. Uh off the bounce, uh he’s okay. Uh nothing too dramatic. Uh he does have the euro and all those other moves to finish inside the paint. Uh that’s stuff he can work on as well. Uh we don’t need him to be Kyrie Irving. We just need to be a competent big man with the basketball. Uh when it comes to passing, uh he definitely needs to work on that on that passing ability. Um lots of turnovers. Uh this is not his strength. This is a weakness for this guy. He got to get uh working and focus on his uh basketball IQ when it when it comes to terms of passing or moving the basketball. But that’s something that I’m going to poo poo all the way and just dismiss this kid over that. He’s a big, by the way, he’s not Chris Paul or Jason Kid or something like that, but he still need to be competent on the basketball court. Uh, so offensively, this guy is exactly what the Chicago Bulls are looking for. Uh, they need an athletic big that’s going to play defense. Uh, we’re going to talk about the defense in a minute. uh that’s going to play defense, can finish in a dunker spot, run those pick and rolls, occasionally pop out, hit a spot up jumper. This kid could be your guy. Now, let’s talk about defensively. He is a fly swatter. Yeah, Asa Newell is a fly swatter and that also gets him in trouble. He gets into a lot of trouble out there. He will get some foul. He gets himself into foul trouble a lot because he wants to swat everything. He wants to swat absolutely everything, which is something I love. He’s going to have to gauge the importance of every shot that he needs to block when he becomes a professional because being on the floor. Availability is the best ability when you become a professional. And being in foul trouble is not being available. So, that’s something he needs to work on when he gets out to the league. uh he does stand in front of his man. When it comes to staying on the ground, just moving your feet, staying in front of your man. That has to improve. He’s not bad, but it has to improve into the pro level. You’re going to be uh guarding the best of the best. He’s going to have to get a little bit stronger. He sits at uh let me see how much he weighs 220 pounds. Uh that’s solid uh for a big man. He definitely going to have to put his man strength on. This is a bogus I got for this guy. Don’t be mad at me about this pick, bro. You the one to You the one stuck your tongue out. You know what I’m saying? Don’t be mad at me. Um, let’s look at his statistics for last season. Played 33, played 29 minutes per game, averaged 15, seven rebounds per game, an assist, a steal, a block. He shot 54% from the field, 29% from three and 75% from the free throw line. Real solid numbers for a big, especially coming out of college. Uh, let’s see if that athleticism and activity uh is going to translate into the NBA. I think that it is. I think the Chicago Bulls will not be making mistake by getting Ace New. He is a young, intriguing talent that I will take a flyer on if if better talent it is isn’t available. He’s a little undersized to me. He does look like he’s about 68 69 on the court. He’s listed at 611, but he plays big and I would not have a problem with Asa Newell on the Chicago Bulls. All right, we getting closer and closer to June 25th. Asa Newell, he gets a okay with me. I wouldn’t be pissed off if the Chicago Bulls was to draft this kid. Um, that’s just going to uh test your coaching and your development team on your franchise. But with that being said, y’all make sure y’all hit that like button, subscribed if you ain’t. Do y’all believe that ASU will be a good addition to the Chicago Bulls? Y’all let me know in the comments and I’mma see y’all on the next one for sure.

  1. I actually like how AK has drafted.. I like the versatility length willing passers types and it makes more sense that they went for it this year cus this draft looks really deep. I like our chances at 12.

  2. If Scottie Pippen becomes the Head Coach then Asa Newell / Noa Essengue would be excellent for the Chicago Bulls and the front office should go ahead and pay Josh Giddey the amount of money that he's asking for both he and Coby White and make the deal to reclaim Daniel Gafford !

  3. Did you see Tony Bradley playing last night for the Pacers? Is Asa more like Tony or Jarret Allen?

  4. I feel like this brother could be just as good as P. Willy tho!!!!! If he’s there at 12 we need grab him up fr fr so that we got that 2 headed monster of double P. Willys in that front court my g!!!!!!!!
