But this trade would see the Orlando Magic receiving CJ McCollum and the New Orleans Pelicans receiving Contavius Caldwell Pope, Anthony Black, the number 16 overall draft pick this year and a 2027 first round draft pick. So, in my personal opinion, this is quite a bit to give up uh from the perspective of the Orlando Magic. Now, I understand it in the sense of they want to add a backcourt player to this team. They want to add a veteran, a player that can play alongside, you know, France Vagner and Paulo Blanco and you keep Jaylen Suggs in the situation and the rest of this Magic roster. Like, basketball-wise, C.J. Mcllum for the short term is a really good fit, truthfully. Like, he’s a veteran player, a proven guard in this league. Uh, he’d be a good veteran leader to this younger team, and he has some playoff experience. So, I actually do like the fit basketball-wise. But if you’re the Pelicans and you’re able to get back this kind of trade package for CJ McCollum, a very good 3 and D option like Contavius Caldwell Pope, a former top five pick in Anthony Black, the number 16 pick this year and a future first round draft pick, like that is just a little bit too much in my opinion for CG McCollum. If McCollum was a little bit younger and maybe just fit kind of the the timeline a little bit better for France Vagner and Paulo Blanco, I I would like this. Like for example, if this was like a Trey Young trade package, I would love this. But in this case, like I get it. It fits the Magic’s needs. Now, it makes this team a playoff team. They can probably go on a little bit of a run. And truthfully speaking, with kind of how the East is looking next year, the Magic could be like a sneaky top five, top four team next year if they were to make this deal. And if you’re the Pelicans, this would be good for them because they’d be getting back some draft capital and going through a bit of a retool or a rebuild this way. And I think maybe if you want to build around Zion, getting rid of CJ McColl and getting back a younger team could potentially be the play. So I kind of talked myself into liking this for the Magic. So if I had to predict a winner, I I probably go with the Magic right now, but with the Pelicans long term doesn’t really answer the question here of who I think wins.
