Rondo was drafted 21st overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2006 but was immediately traded to the Celtics. He became a key part of Boston’s 2008 championship team and earned multiple All-Star and All-Defensive honors during his tenure.
Dallas Mavericks (2014–2015)
Traded midseason, Rondo’s stint in Dallas was brief and marked by tension with the coaching staff.
Sacramento Kings (2015–2016)
Rondo led the league in assists during his single season with the Kings.
Chicago Bulls (2016–2017)
He had a turbulent season in Chicago, including a suspension and a brief benching, but returned to contribute in the playoffs.
New Orleans Pelicans (2017–2018)
Rondo played a key role in the Pelicans’ playoff run, including setting a franchise record with 25 assists in a game.
Los Angeles Lakers (2018–2020)
He won his second NBA title with the Lakers in 2020, becoming one of only two players to win championships with both the Celtics and Lakers.
Atlanta Hawks (2020–2021)
Rondo signed a multi-year deal with the Hawks but was traded midseason.
Los Angeles Clippers (2021)
Acquired via trade, Rondo played the remainder of the season with the Clippers.
Los Angeles Lakers (2021–2022)
Rondo returned to the Lakers for a second stint during the 2021–2022 season.
Cleveland Cavaliers (2022)
He was traded to the Cavaliers in January 2022, where he concluded his NBA playing career.
Rondo officially announced his retirement in April 2024, stating he wanted to spend more time with his family.
