Is Tre Johnson the STEAL of the NBA Draft? Should the Washington Wizards GAMBLE Everything on Him?

Is Tre Johnson the STEAL of the NBA Draft? Should the Washington Wizards GAMBLE Everything on Him?

Trey Johnson might be the best player outside a Cooper flag in this draft. How can the Wizards get him and what can he be? Find out next on Locked on Wizards. Right now, new customers can get $200 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins. So, let’s dive right in. Abdullah, I’m just going to give you an easy question. Talk to me about Trey Johnson, what you like, and an overview to familiarize Wizards fans with Trey Johnson. Yeah, man. Trey Johnson, SEC player of the year, freshman, was arguably had a top I think top 20 scorer this past year in college basketball. 66 I think Winksman measured at 610. Like I mentioned, elite shooting profile. Led the entire SEC in scoring as a freshman. 19.9 points per game, a little under 20 points per game. Doing so with excellent shooting splits, 42.7% field goal range, 39.7 three-point percentage, and 87% from the free throw line. A polished three-level scorer with advanced shotmaking ability with beyond his years. Like I mentioned, he’s very crafty. He can get to the rim and the pick and roll is very effective as well. It’s very decisive. Can make that right play and adapt at drive in scenarios and can serve as a secondary ball handler. is very smooth in tempo. It can switch uh from uh speed uh effectively and work ethic and consistently consistency getting better at such a young age even at age of 19 going out there and proving it on a Texas team that didn’t make the March Madness tournament but still going out there and being key contributor at such a young age and I think a guy like him could definitely make a difference and be that playmaker that two-way score that the Wizards uh have been wanting for a while. Well, the thing about Trey Johnson that I love is he played point guard and drew so much attention. And so you’re going to say, “Oh, well, where were his assists and rebounds and his defense wasn’t great.” He scored 20 in a league that got 14 teams, a record setting 14 teams into the NCAA tournament. And Texas was not good. They did not have spacing. They did they did not have complimentary basketball players. But Trey Johnson’s numbers and efficiency weren’t terrible considering all that and his shooting profile is elite. I would argue he’s the best shooter in the draft. And I know it’s a weird argument considering we talked about 99th percentile Khan Canipple or sorry 90th 98th percentile as a spot up last um for Khan, 92nd as a catch and shoot, but Trey Johnson when you watch him off of screen he’s 91st percentile. So that means he’s off the ball. So that means you could be a two guard. You put him in a role similar to that of a former wizard like Bradley Beal and the dude’s going to rain rain jump shots and I watched all of them. So I’ve got the numbers here. So off the screen he has 53 possessions and he took 48 field goal attempts off of those off balls. He made 25 of them. So he made over 50% of his offball catch and shoot threes. It’s unbelievable. Then if you look at his spot up he’s good. His transition which usually is a good indicator of athleticism. It’s considered very good by Synergy. It’s 81st percentile. His at the rim finishing could get better, but really is solid. Like you you you’re not going to shake your head at like, oh, this guy’s going to get better at this. His at the rim finishing was 28th percentile in terms of the ones at the exact rim, but his mid-range was unbelievable. His early jump shot, 65th percentile. His dribble jump shot 75th percentile. And when you watch these, you’re going to say, “Wow, like those are incredibly difficult.” Yeah. When you simplified his shot profile, it gets great. His catch and shoot 84th percentile, 89th when guarded, which is considered both of those are considered as excellent and 57th when unguarded. I think it was just so rare he was unguarded. He wasn’t ready. He can score the basketball among the very best in this draft. And he’s got prototypical size if he were to play the one and he can play the two easily. He’s 6’6 and you know he’s been compared to a lot is VJ Edgecom and everyone always goes, “Oh, VJ’s a better athlete.” I agree. I think VJ’s got more explosiveness. But if you look at their vertical testing, Trey Johnson, neck and neck, exact same. And then you look at length, it’s advantage Trey Johnson. So to me, Trey Johnson’s a lock to go in the top five. And we’ll discuss kind of how he can fall to the Wizards. Can the Wizards trade up for him? Is there anything else that I’m missing in terms of those numbers? I was going to say, Leif, when it comes to, you brought up stats, but I mean for the Wizard side of why it should happen, it makes complete sense. Fits the team really well. Um, talk about struggling offensively this past season. And the Wizards ranked dead last in offensive efficiency. They also ranked dead last in offensive rating, finished 27th in points per game. So a guy like Johnson could definitely fit perfectly here in Washington. Like I mentioned, the great size and athleticism and get get his shot as he continues to grow as a player. Again, 19 years old and so so young and again fits the timeline really, really well. And I think him pairing him up with Bal Koulali could be similar wing threat to how the Celtics have Jason Tam J. I’m not saying they’re going to turn out like him, but maybe that type of play style some of the Wizards could look forward to. And again, it kind of reminds me of Cam Thomas. Not saying they’re the same exact player, but the way they can score at all three levels and it’s just so smooth. It’s just something you have to monitor. And again, it kind of fits both parties. And you better hope they’re he’s there at six. I’ve got a guy I’m going to I’m going to tease this. I’ve got a guy that I I have a comparison for Trey Johnson on that I think is going to blow people’s socks off. So, I’m going to talk about that as the best case scenario, the upside. We’ll save that for the next segment. But but I got a question for you on Trey Johnson in terms of how he would fit with the Wizards. Obviously, that that’s a best case scenario type of thing. His overview of the guy can score. There’s some passing flashes. Uh do you move Jordan P to open up the runway for a guy like Trey Johnson? Because I don’t think he falls quite to six. I know we’re assuming, hey, if he’s at six, then you gota you got to run to the podium, sprint to the podium and take him. But what if he’s at what if he’s at four and you’re like, “Oh man, we got to trade up.” Is that a move, Jordan Pool, or is there a different asset that you move to get him because he’s that level of talent where we’re salivating over it? Yeah, if you’re the Wizards organization and again, I think Will Dawkins is the reason why he traded for Jordan Pool and how from how his tenure started in Washington now, he’s gotten way better. A lot of fans love him now. A good amount of fans are also hating him wanting him out in DC. But if you really love Trey Johnson and it’s gonna you’re gonna have to give up Jordan Pool. I don’t I could see a possibility of that happening because again uh a back court of Trey Johnson maybe a guy like B Carrington taking the Realms at point guard maybe that you talk about how you’re a big fan of him coming out of the draft. Maybe he’s the starting point guard of the future for Washington. So I I wouldn’t be surprised. Again, W Dawkins has been aggressive this the past year trading for Bob Carrington in exchange for Denny DD and a lot of fans were questioning that people thought Dennia was going to get the keys in Washington and he gets traded to Portland. So, if you’re the Wizards, I think a lot of the options are on the table and if you think he’s not going to be there at six and trade four is pick four is available, why not go after him and get him at four? Yeah, I’m certainly not opposed to that. Trey Johnson on my personal big board is at four. But if I could, it would be 3A and 3B between he and Ace Bailey. I I think those two are very similar that the upside is tantalizing because they both score in difficult situations. They’re both neither of their teams were very good conducive to success and they both made the most of it scoring. And Trey Johnson, I think, was even a better college player. He’s just a little smaller than Ace Bailey. But honestly, if you’re to look at comparative size and you’re going to say Trey Johnson’s a point guard, like I think there’s an argument you could say that at 6’6 versus Ace Bailey at 67. So 6’8 with shoes as a small forward. I know he’s likely to be a two guard. I think they’re comparable size-wise for their position and Trey Johnson’s got that much talent where I think there’s a world he could go number three overall. Um and and I don’t know if that’s going to happen, but if he’s at six, the Wizards got to sprint to the podium. One more thought on Trey Johnson that I’ve got is I I’ll envision a future where I know I said Jordan Pool might be the one out. I I love Bub Carrington. I’ve said this a billion times, but I could see him being a point guard uh because he had the ball in his hand. so much and there was so little spacing. He’s ran a ton of pick and rolls. He knows how to operate an offense and I think that’s where the biggest upside can come. What do you think of that before we dive into what we see as his NBA upside and give expectations and projections? No, definitely. I can definitely see a world where, you know, you put him at the point guard position and I think he can thrive in that position as well. So, it just really depends on what the Wizards want to do going forward. And it it’s it starts off where if he’s if you don’t think he’s going to be their pick six, trade up for if you really love him that much, if you really want a younger guy, 19 years old, I mean, again, fits uh what you want here in DCS score, a guy that has superstar upside and a guy who can from the get-go, I think it’ll take some time to develop, but has proven in the collegiate level in the SEC, and you mentioned how many teams are in their competitiveness. And you put all that together, it shows why Trey Johnson, in my opinion, is very much NBA ready. NBA ready indeed. I have a I have a comparison that I think is going to knock some people’s socks off. uh very very high praise and I’ll give you the reason why coming up next as well as talk about what’s his expectation even if he doesn’t hit this guy’s ceiling what is his ceiling what is his floor what does it look like in a Wizards uniform all that and more straight ahead on Locked on Wizards the NBA playoffs are in full swing and every night delivers highlight worthy performances major momentum shifts and can’t miss moments whether it’s a game-winning shot or a breakout player there’s never been a better time to get in on the action FanDuel makes it easy to stay in the game before tip off and live with player props and performance trends and same game parlays. Fans have more ways than ever to play smart and win big. By the way, you know, we’re going to talk about some players coming up that are scoring a lot of points, but SGA is scoring a lot like usual. I haven’t told Abdullah this. So, this is a live reaction to who I compare Trey Johnson to, what I see as his upside. And I’ve actually talked to a couple scouts about this. And both of them kind of gave me this quizzical look when I made this comparison, but then said, “Oh, you know what? Like I’ve I I can kind of see it. So without further ado, my comparison for Trey Johnson and why I’m so high on him is Shay Gil just Alexander. It’s It’s crazy you say that live because right now Shay Gil Alexander just won MVP. They announced it on X. But no, keep going. Okay. So So we’re talking about the MVP here. Also, he should not have gotten MVP. Um that that’s Nicol. Agree. Agree. Agree. Agree. But but we’ll talk about that another time. But but here we go. Anyway, an MVP caliber player. Here’s why I see him as such. Because Trey Johnson has a unique blend of scoring abilities that are so rare. If you look at players that have come into the draft, I’ll talk about last year. I love Stefon Castle. Castle was my number one overall on the board and he won rookie of the year. He’s a guy I really liked. He didn’t score like this. He was a role player on Yukon and I know that was a loaded Yukon team. You look at the year before, it’s Victor Wyama. That’s a bit anomalous. But you look at year in year out and you look at guards and there’s no one as polished as a scorer. Even Kade Cunningham, I don’t think had the same polish and and scoring. He was bigger and smooth and had his game. But Trey Johnson was a scoreer in a way that you just can’t teach that innate touch and shot creation with a terrible team for his skill set around him. He had the ball. He created looks for other players. And he shot very difficult shots and still found a way to 20 a game when he was the highest guy in the scouting report. So why do I compare him to Shay Gilch Alexander when there’s other guys that are like that? You might say Cam Thomas. And I don’t actually dislike that comparison you threw out earlier. But the reason I say Shay and why I love the upside so much of Trey Johnson is Shay to me is not a point guard still to this day. Though I don’t think SGA is a natural point guard, he is the point guard of the best team in basketball right now. A team likely to win the championship because his scoring acumen is such that he draws so much attention from the defense. he’s able to create for others and use his ability to score the basketball to draw attention and create for others in a way that I think Trey Johnson can do. He did so at Texas and Texas was a nightmare situation with far worse spacing. You put Trey Johnson on a team that can shoot the basketball and you have wing defenders to make up for his lack of defensive uh abilities. Like he’s not a great defender. Very few 18 19 year olds are. Very few are. Bal Koulabali being an enormous exception if you’re looking for the Wizards. Now, if you look at SGA, SGA is the type of guy that is a good defender and his game is predicated off of slashing. His passing comes from he draws a lot of attention near the paint. Trey Johnson can do it in a more dangerous way in my opinion of the most dangerous thing for years was what Damen Lillard and Steph Curry found it of off the dribble three-point shooting. Trey Johnson can shoot off the dribble and off of screens better than just about any draft pick we’ve seen in 10 years. And that’s why I think he’s got all NBA potential. What do you think of that comparison firstly? And secondly, what do you think of the potential of of Trey Johnson? Whether you agree with me on all NBA or what is your potential for him, whether it’s in a Wizards uniform or someone else’s. Yeah. First, I just want to say that’s a that’s really really interesting comparison. Um, I think obviously a young guy at 19 years old can compare to an MVP or just now MVP and Shay Gil Alexander. That’s it’s a lot. But also the way you reasoned it, I kind of see where you’re getting at because at the end of the day, you talk about the situation that he was in in Texas and you come in to DC with a young town that the Wizards have with guys like Keshan George that can shoot it. Jordan P can shoot it from three if he’s here. Alex Sar, a guy that can run really good pick and rolls with Trey Johnson. Um Justin Champagne, the list goes on. And Bub Carrington, I I love this. I love the situation here that he could have in DC. And I get it. People are going to talk about his frame. You know, I think 190 pounds, but definitely can work on it. And like you mentioned, not every 19-year-old in the world is going to be great off the bat defensively and block is an exception. But at the end of the day, Trey Johnson, I think the ability to be that two-way wing scoreer is definitely up there. Being able to score all three levels, I think definitely needs to get better at finishing, maybe become more efficient in the paint. but a guy that can shoot it from three and again in the SEC and being the best player in the as a freshman. It truly goes to show that when the lights are the brightest, he shows up. He He’s the type of guy that is not going to be scared of saying, “Hey, you know what, Trey, we’re going to toss you into the deep end and you’re going to have to score the basketball for us to win.” And I think he’s going to be able to elevate a team into having a better chance of winning more so than a guy like Jordan Pool who not playing his not natural position. Like we talked about P’s development of of becoming a better point guard and how his assisted turnover needs to improve. That’s why I believe Bub Carrington’s the Wizards point guard of the future. Should they land Trey Johnson, that changes because Trey Johnson has talent that I think is better than even that of Alex Sar. I I think Sar is a more rare prospect in the sense you just don’t get that size, coordination, fluidity. But Trey Johnson’s got more rare scoring and and ability to elevate and be the number one option on a team. I think Sar is, you know, strangely enough, the the comparison you want for Sar is Chad Holgrren, someone who can be a defensive stopper and step up and score 16 points a game on a playoff team. Well, if you got SGA in the case of uh Trey Johnson and SAR, you got a really good backing. So, that’s what I think the Wizards want to emulate. They want to emulate the versatility, the defensive oriented team in the Thunder. I I think it’s possible. So, let’s talk about the way that they can get Trey Johnson. I I don’t think he’s going to get to six. In fact, I’d be very shocked. I think it’s going to go Cooper Flag, Dylan Harper, and then the Sixers get a little tricky. Like, if the Sixers go with VJ Edgecomb, then I think Trey Johnson goes four. If the Sixers go with Ace Bailey, I think the Hornets go four with VJ Edgecom and the Jazz take Trey Johnson at five. If no matter how I spin it, those are the five I see. So, uh, is there a way that you see it going that they falls to six and the Wizards sprint to the podium or is does it have to be a trade? Yeah, I think, man, I feel like more likely than not, you’re going to have to trade up for him, a pick or two. And again, in a draft where it’s stronger compared to last year, you’re going to have to give up uh it’s going to be costly. And who knows, maybe I saw some mock drafts. I mean, again, talking about the Jazz, Jeremiah Fears out of Oklahoma is a guy that maybe could be taken before. I don’t know. I hopefully that would be nice and the Wizards get Johnson at six, but at the end of the day, I think you you’re going to have to realize if you’re able Dawkins that if you’re going to want to move up, it’s going to cost more. And you you have the ammunition. You have a lot of draft picks. You also have a guy in Jordan Pool who’s viewed as a commodity now in the NBA. Uh, and VJ Edgeorm is a guy that can definitely be there. I I I think it all starts with what Philadelphia does and then it’s going to be a a snowball effect if they go a direction where it’s not expected. Analysts don’t expect they never projected that. Then it kind of alters the Wizards game plan in a little bit, but I think there’s also going to be a plan B for plan and plan C with the Dolphins to screw. Well, we’ll talk about that plan B, plan C and a little bit more on you. We talked about the connele and how he fits into a playoff series. We we’ll talk about slotting in the Trey Johnson mold into a playoff. Do we like it? Do we think there’s stuff to work on? Uh, all that and more straight ahead on Locked on Wizards. Welcome back to Locked on Wizards. Leaf Tulina Abdullah Yubi with you here. We’ve been talking Trey Johnson. I told you my comparison of SGA for Trey Johnson. I think you can make an argument for Devin Booker, someone who off the ball is an assassin, knocks down a bunch of shots. If he’s got on the ball, he draws the eyes of a defense and becomes a pseudo point guard. We talked about all that. All that sounds good, but that means you need to take a starring role. Does he fit in in a playoff series, Abdullah, or or does he have to stand out in a good way, which is what you’re drafting him to do, is become the star? No, I think definitely uh becoming that star. I think his scoring ability is just something that is not being talked about enough, especially obviously in the draft where you have Cooper Flag, you have um Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, but legit, you made the argument that he could be that pick three for Philadelphia. So, at the end of the day, if you’re the Wizards, if you really think Trey Johnson could be that role of of being that superstar that can average um I mean that many points per be that like Bradley Bill type of role, I don’t see why not. You want to get a guy that can uh change the franchise here in DC and you pair him up with a young talent that you already have and also you have pick 18. I mean, who knows? If you’re the Wizards, what if you want I think dream scenario, Leif, is if the Wizards somehow get Trey Johnson at pick six and I don’t know, somehow in some way trade a pick 18 18 like I said and a player to go back in the top 10, top 12 range and maybe go after a big man. I I don’t know, that’s a dream scenario because again, Walt Dawkins has done it before, so why not do it again? But I think it all starts with what happens at pick three of Philadelphia and it all goes back to how much faith you have in Trey Johnson being that guy and are you willing to give up a guy like Jordan Pool in return? I would because I’ve mentioned I’m a little lower on Jordan P’s upside. I think at 26 he doesn’t necessarily fit the timeline in the same way because I don’t think he’s the star and the only way you want someone older there uh to kind of lead is if he if he’s the star of the team. I don’t think that is that right now the best player on the team is Alex Sar and if you were to get Trey Johnson I think you do have a dynamic duo someone who can score 25 and I was thinking about it how many players in the NBA score 25 a game so it’s about nine right like you get nine players that do that consistently and how many guys have been guards who have done it like true guards and and it’s really rare like the Wizards had Bradley Beal there’s there’s Devin Booker uh Cam Thomas was on the brink of it but that was on a poor team and and so the ones on winning teams there’s there’s really not many. And then you get to the the point guards, the ones who have the ball in their hands the most. And it’s in the years of the NBA recently, you’d go Steph Curry, Damen Lillard, guys like that. Then there’s the Donovan Mitchells who are a little more dynamic with the ball, a different mold. And so you either pigeon hole him into the SGA mold of being a pseudo point guard because he’s not a natural point guard or a Devin Booker mold where he’s off the ball and he he does a ton of killing off the ball and you have a point guard there. Then when the point guard’s not there, he’s capable of having the ball, but he’s not quite as dynamic as the off the dribble as a guy like SGA. So all these guys are the top of a scouting report. And this is something that I’ve tried to incorporate in my scouting of prospects is if the team if the guy’s at the top of the scouting report in college, that’s wonderful. Most of these guys have been the best player on every team they’ve ever been on. Uh fun fact for you, Trey Johnson when he was younger in high school scored 40 points against Case Wallace who’s defensive stud for the Thunder. So this guy’s been at the top of the scattering report and still scored a lot of buckets. So you want him to stand out. Is there a way that he can play on the Wizards and he doesn’t hit his ceiling of this all-star caliber player? What does he become then, Abdullah? And and what is he in a series? Is he just a shooter off the ball? Yeah, that’s a good question Le because I hope that doesn’t happen. and you want him to play up to his potential. But if he I honestly that could be a nightmare scenario where you don’t really use him off on pick and rolls. You don’t really uh use him as a playmaker. He’s just a guy that can spot up from three and make him stay in the corner, which I hope uh Coach Ke if the Wizards end up blue drafting uh doesn’t allow that to happen. I I legit think the Wizards, this new organization, this new coaching staff, I think they can find a way to utilize and um play maximize his strengths here in DC. And again, it goes back to, you know, being 19 years old, fitting the timeline. There’s not going to be that much pressure on him to be, oh, you have to be an all-star your first year. Give it a year or two, and who knows out the gate, he’s already averaging 20 20 to 25 points a game. That would be great. But again, it’s just not that much pressure on you, and you’re in DC, and that’s what makes the situation so great for Johnson here in Washington. Yeah, I don’t think there’s too much pressure, but then the Wizards would need to find the guy. And we’ve talked about it yesterday that if they were to take Khan Caniple, who doesn’t figure to be the the all-star, but he could be a guy who excels in his role, uh, then you need to find one in the next year as the youthful core starts to graduate from not being you as youthful anymore and you need to make the push to the playin and then eventually to the playoffs and then eventually to the Eastern Conference Finals and then eventually the NBA finals hopefully. Like that’s the natural progression of how you want this to go. Trey Johnson I think is boomer bust in the sense that he’s not a natural fit as a as a low ceiling guy. Like he is a high ceiling and I think he’s got a high floor in the sense that he can really score the basketball but maybe it is like Cam Thomas where yeah he’s scoring the basketball but your team’s not winning and I don’t know if there’s a role if he’s like the tertiary guy. He’s got to be primary or secondary and there needs to be good defense built around him because I think he can get better on defense like he has the tools. He has a 610 wingspan. He’s got a 66 frame with a 38 inch vertical like that’s that’s a really good athlete. But his game is score score and score some more. So him fitting in in the playoffs if he’s not hitting that peak it feels a little different like he has to stand out in the playoffs. So, I believe in finding a franchise changing talent. I that’s why I believe he’ll be gone because I think those top five teams need to find someone and he fits that more than the likes of Kipple, more than the likes of Jeremiah Fears, more than even Dererick Queen, who I’ve told you I think can be an all-star. But I do have concerns if he doesn’t hit his ceiling, how he fits in. Yeah. No, I completely agree. I mean, if he’s there at six somehow someway come draft time, you have to be running to the podium because again, like you’re getting a guy that could probably be the best guard out of this draft class. So, at the end of the day for the Wizards, pick six, pick 18. There’s going to be scenarios where you trade up, trade down. You just got to be ready. It’s going to be a roller coaster this draft, especially since it’s just so much more stronger than the past year. Yeah, Trey Johnson seems like the guy that’s probably the best case scenario you outlined. it’s unlikely to to get him at six and it’s possible to trade up. So, Wizards fans, we we want to engage with you. We talked about following us on Twitter or an X and and let us know your thoughts on Trey Johnson. Comment below on the YouTube as well. We’ll try to get back to you and give us some ideas of who you want to hear about because we think this is the best case scenario. But if there’s someone else that you think is the best case scenario, let us know. And for those of you listening, thank you for making Locked on Wizards your first listen today. I was going to say Le sorry to cut you off, but uh shout out to the rookies, Alex or not, not rookies anymore, but Alex making all rookie first team. B Karen to all make all rookie second team. And the Wiz are just doing great things. You love to see it. It’s going to be really interesting to see how these all these young guys play out on the summer league roster coming up along with pick six and pick 18, but I I don’t think we got to it and probably cut for a little bit, but uh I don’t know how SGA won MVP uh Leif. I I I for me I think Yus deserves it. I just think he makes way more of an impact. I get it the Nuggets are eliminated, but I mean to me I just don’t think it’s that much of a debate to be honest. I don’t think it’s close either. I I think Giannis is better than SGA, too. But that that’s that’s for another time. I think SGA is a great player, and that’s why you’d be thrilled to get a guy like Trey Johnson who resembles that of SGA, but I don’t think it’s close. Jokic should have been the MVP. But shout out to the Wizards for getting two, not just one, but two of their three draft picks, making all rookie team, and my guy Bub Carrington being one of them. So, I’m thrilled about that. So, thank you guys for listening. We’ll be back with you tomorrow. Let us know what you want to hear about and which prospects you want to hear about, and we’ll take care of you. Have a great day, guys.

Is Tre Johnson the steal of the NBA Draft? He could be the best talent outside of Cooper Flagg. Should the Washington Wizards do anything they can to get him?

Guest hosts Leif Thulin and Abdullah Ayubi discuss Tre Johnson, a top prospect in the upcoming NBA draft. They analyze Johnson’s impressive scoring ability, comparing him to NBA stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Devin Booker. They highlight Johnson’s elite shooting profile, versatility, and potential to be a franchise-changing talent. The conversation also touches on the challenges of integrating Johnson into a playoff-caliber team and the importance of surrounding him with defensive talent. The podcast concludes with praise for the Wizards’ recent draft success and a brief discussion on the NBA MVP selection.

  1. Wiz fans I love Trey Johnson's well rounded offensive game I have one question does he play defense? If the Wizards are fortunate to have both Trey Johnson and Patrik Queen on the board at 6 it would be hard passing on Queen, but if we draft Thomas Sorber or Rasheer Fleming at 18 that would be a great draft..

  2. I actually don’t see Tre going five let’s not forget this is Utah they are getting Kon Knuppel which makes sense. It will be Flagg Harper Bailey Edgecombe Knuppel Johnson Fears, we’re getting Tre

  3. Can you do a video on Khaman Maluach? Will Dawkins in his most recent interview talked about what he looks for in prospects. The player's personlity and DNA first, then defense Second. The Offense he said comes with time and coaching. Screams Maluach, plus his positional size is what Dawkins loves. Somebody who started playing basketball at 14 and can be molded. Just my thoughts. I could honestly see the wizards grabbing him at 6, then packaging a deal to move up from 18 and grab somebody in lottery they love

  4. The locked on wizards breakup reminds me of my parents divorce. Brandon left us and AB got remarried. Glad we still got u though, AB

  5. Wizards need a big man as
We have enough guards already. Bub, A J, Jordan, even Keyshon can play shooting guard. Aren’t Brogdon and Smart still on the payroll?
    Our rebounding sucks.
Only Vukcevic can play with his back to the basket.

  6. The best case scenario is VJ but probably the least likely. So it goes Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Tre, Kon, VJ to Washington.

  7. Why do we speak on Jordan Poole after if the FO and coaching staff isn’t extremely high on him moving this team forward and as if we didn’t restrict him alot so we could be a lower seed for the draft lottery?

  8. We gotta get this right on June 25th:
Picks 7: 6'6" Tre Johnson or 7'2" Khaman Maluach (Duke)
Pick 18: 7' Maxime Raynaud (S), 7' Danny Wolf (MI), 6'9" Egor Demin (BYU), 6'10" Thomas Sorber (GE)
Pick 40: 6'11" Alex Condon (FLA), 7'1" Hansen Yang (CHI), 6'10" Janic Niederhauser (PS)

  9. "The best player on the team is Alex Sar"; What?! Sar has a lot of potential but he is not the best player on the Wizards. JP is by far. I'm high on Bub and Keyshawn

  10. Ehhh, idk if I like the idea of trading Poole just to move 1 spot and trade a first. If i were to trade him, I’d rather trade him somewhere to get multiple first

  11. What would a trade up look like and is there a team like Utah, Sixers, or Hornets that we even have a legitimate chance at trading with?

  12. We need identity picks as much as we need talent picks. Wiz need players that will raise the floor of our defense and toughness. BPA AT 6, Yaxel Lendebourg at 18, Yanic Niederhauser at 42.

  13. Our roster is so clustered at 1-3, while our 4-5 depth and outlook is in such rough shape. I wouldn’t care if we went all bigs in this draft assuming we miss out on one of the top 5 consensus guys.

  14. We either stay at 6 and hope to draft Tre Johnson, stay at 6 and draft Khaman Maluach, trade up to top 3 and draft VJ Edgecomb, or trade back and collect more picks and draft Noa Essengue. No Kon and unfortunately no Queen. I actually like them both, but not for this rebuild. We’re strictly drafting young players with crazy upside and hope we hit on the pick. I believe in Will Dawkins and I think I explained what he’s kind of thinking and the type of players he’s favoring at 6.

  15. I have also seen that mock draft with the Wizards getting Fears. I would like Tre. I was also curious if the Wizards would try to trade up from 18 to get Queen. Would the Wizards move Jordan Poole if they draft a PG which I think Fears is? I mean possible for a shot at Queen and maybe a first round pick in the future? Just being less speculative I think the Wizards should focus on defense next season. Get that taken care of then maybe by 2027 they can look to free agency if shooters don't emerge.

  16. I like Tre and Fears if one of them falls to 6 we should pick one of them. I don't want to trade up this year. Next years draft looks sick that's wher I would trade up.

  17. I’ve been hearing that Tre won’t be there at 6. He could be the best pickup of the draft, worth a shot probably.
