New Orleans Pelicans: Trading up in the draft and for Sabonis | 2025 Mock Offseason | Salarycast
The New Orleans Pelicans’ 2024-25 season ended before it began. They didn’t have a chance due to all their injuries, including a long-term one for Dejounte Murray. To top it all off, they fell three spots in the lottery. They’ll be in a position to select one in the draft, but they seem far away from being competitive again. The new front office could look to be aggressive this summer to bolster the roster.
In this video, I analyze the Pelicans salary cap situation for their upcoming offseason, facilitate a Giannis trade that allows them to trade up for Dylan Harper, and acquire a veteran center in Domantas Sabonis.

Hypothetical trade idea
Pelicans receive: Lauri Markannen, Collin Sexton
Jazz receive: #7, Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, 2026 first via Indiana
Thoughts?
For some strange reason, I think Sabonis is directly included in the Giannis trade… And Sabonis ends up in Milwaukee… I do see CJ getting salary dumped in that larger deal… Interesting trade; Harper fits much better with the Pels than the Spurs … I also agree Pelicans won't pay any tax
Atlanta is not more likely to have that 2027 Bucks pick tho
Why does nobody see Giannis ending with the rockets? In exchange for Sengun and Green for example..
