This guy has the gall to expect the Lakers to get high end talent but won't take a dollar less to help them do it. Brunson took tens of millions of dollars less so they can get better players, and they're in the conference finals while James is counting his money at home. if you won't take less, then don't demand or expect the team to be able to get a strong supporting cast. I wish he was willing to be traded. That would help this team more than staying with that bloated salary and doing his passive-aggressive BS.

Lebron should have the decency to opt out and negotiate for a lower 30MM, if he really wanted his team to be a title contender. C'mon, the guy is already 40 and is no longer an MVP material, such as the likes of SGA, Jokic, and Giannis. He can't even carry the Lakers past the first round of the playoffs.
If Lebron opts in, just use the TPMLE on Day'Ron Sharpe. Offer him a 2 year deal. Then see about trading Dalton Knecht and a 2nd Rd pk to the Suns for Nick Richards expiring contract. You get 2 serviceable, young Centers.
I want Lebron to lower his salary for the Lakers to get solid role players but his still good and deserves all the money he gets.

I realize that LeBron is worth 52 million. However, he’s a billionaire already, so why doesn’t he take the veteran minimum in order to help the team as much as possible. Also, I’m sure that he receives plenty of money from endorsements as well.
Lakers and LeBron really need to part ways so the team can get better without LeBron getting in the way. I still think he's a really good player but that doesn't justify the salary. He’s not only staying for the 50 mil plus but also ensuring bronny is around. Once LeBron is gone, bronny will follow. Lakers will keep a kid like bronny because of daddy, turn around and alienate another kid they were calling Roy candidate who has a lot of potential. If everyone around the league thinks bronny is so great lakers should get wise and deal the James circus for a center, pf 2 way and a pick. They won t do it and they ll let the disease fester another year maybe 3. That’s a HUGE waste of luka years, watch!

If LeBron signed for 40 mill that would open up approx 20 mill and the Lakers could then sign Portis with the 14 mill (mle) he would be increasing his salary from 13.5… And the 2nd player could be Coffey who made 3.9 with the Clips.Hence, Lakers could give him 4 mill with the bi-annual exception…keep his same place in Cali and start at the SG. And then sign the second rd pick with the other (estimated) 2 mill..
Worst case scenario: LeBron opts in this season then extends his contract for one extra season so he can coerce the team into wasting another draft pick on his other untalented son.
