Kevin Durant To San Antonio Spurs, Derrick White To Golden State Warriors | NBA News & Rumors

So, in this NBA news and rumors video, I’m going to be talking about all the latest pertaining to the 2025 NBA offseason. Specifically, in this case, the latest news regarding the NBA and the trade rumor mill. Leave all your thoughts down below as always, and let’s get right into it. So, the first news item for today actually talks about uh Chris Paul potentially going to the Portland Trailblazers this off season. So, uh, here on X is a tweet from NBA Central which says, “The Portland Trailblazers could show interest in Chris Paul to mentor Scoot Henderson per AMO Hoops. Quote, the Blazers are among the teams that could have interest in Chris Paul should he not return to the San Antonio Spurs.” A source told Hoops Wire, Portland GM Joe Cronin has suggested that he likes the roster as currently constructed. though those around the league have said that the Blazers would like to add a veteran guard to mentor Scoot Henderson. So my initial thoughts after reading this is that I think Chris Paul at this point of his NBA career as is seen as a leader is seen as a tremendous I guess veteran point guard but not a player that would really do well I would say on a championship caliber team. I think at this point of Chris Paul’s career he’s better off being sort of like a mentor or an older player to some younger players. That’s why I think his fit last year in San Antonio with Victor Wbeyama was perfect. Like this could very well be a spot that he stays, no questions asked. But um if Chris Paul decides to go elsewhere or whatever the case may be, yeah, I think Portland makes sense. Portland has a relatively young roster. They’re a fun team to watch and they’re coached pretty well. Um in my opinion, they of course have Scoot Henderson kind of the focal point of this franchise, but they have some younger uh they have some other uh good younger players as well. They have uh you know DeAndre Eton who was Chris Paul’s former teammate back in Phoenix. Uh they have uh some other good players as well like they have um Shaden Sharp. They have uh Anthony Simons. Like just to name a few that come to the top of my head. This could be a pretty cool fit. Like would I go all out and pay this guy a ton of money or give up a lot of assets for him or whatever the case may be? Probably not. Uh, but I definitely do agree with the take that Scoot Henderson could definitely use a mentor and there’s no better one out there in my opinion, especially at this point of his NBA career than Chris Paul. Uh, Chris Paul, of course, I I do believe. How old is Chris Paul? Yeah, he’s 40 years old, so not super ideal there. I’m sure if you’re Chris Paul, you want to play for a championship contender uh by the time his career is done. If he can win a championship, that’d be phenomenal. But his dates in the NBA are probably pretty limited. Um, this past year for Chris Paul in San Antonio, he played in all 82 games played, 8.8 eight points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists per game. He shot 42.7% from the field, 37.7 from the from the three-point line, 92% from the foul line, and just overall had 5.7 win shares. So, truthfully speaking, a pretty solid player. You kind of know what he is. He’s bounced around the NBA quite a bit throughout his career. He of course mentored Shay back in Oklahoma City. He spent time in Phoenix, Golden State, San Antonio. You know the drill. this could be a cool fit for him. So, uh, could, uh, Chris Paul be going to the Portland Trailblazers this offseason? I guess we’ll find out. The next news item talks about Kevin Durant and the San Antonio Spurs. So, Evans Cerey or Evans Cidery on X tweeted out, “The San Antonio Spurs and Kevin Durant held mutual interest at the trade deadline, which could be explored again this summer for Sham Shirania on the Pat McAfee show. Compared to pursuing a trade for Giannis, a move for Kevin Durant would cost San Antonio significantly less assets. So, the Spurs have been in the rumor mill this off season regarding a team that could definitely make a big-time splash this off season. All signs point towards them being like a front runner for Giannis if Giannis does demand a trade from the Bucks. I could see the Spurs getting aggressive, wanting to have a one-two punch of uh, you know, Victor Wenyama and um, Giannis into the Koopo. We throw in De’Aran Fox as well. this team could do some damage next year. But if the asking price, which it definitely should be for Giannis, is extraordinarily high, then maybe they pivot to someone who’s a little bit older, a little bit less value, and in this case, that would be Kevin Durant. So, I think all signs point towards Kevin Durant probably getting traded this off season. There’s going to be a lot of trade rumors regarding Kevin Durant. And the three teams that I’ve seen linked to Kevin Durant throughout this entire process are all three teams located in Texas, the Dallas Mavericks, the Houston Rockets, and obviously the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have assets like they have Devin Vel, they have Kellen Johnson, they have Jeremy Sohan, they have a ton of draft picks. This could work. And I think Kevin Durant wants to go to uh San Antonio. Like there was a report that uh a trade, you know, as mentioned by Evan Cidery, a trade almost happened last year and could very well be explored again this summer. Um so he reported. So this actually makes a lot of sense if you ask me. I think Kevin Durant going to the Spurs is a good landing spot for him. Little bit of a quieter market. I think having Victor Wyama and Dear Fox is a good supporting cast. They have the draft capital which could entice uh Phoenix because they don’t have much draft picks of their own. So Kevin Durant this past year in Phoenix as always had himself a pretty solid year. Just 62 games played so not super ideal there but did have 26.6 points per game, six rebounds, 4.2 assists. Shot 52.7% from the field, 43 from beyond the ark, 84% from the foul line, and had 5.2 win shares. So really solid year from Kevin Durant. He is getting up there in age though. He is 36 years old, going to be 37 next year. So perhaps not very many valuable years left. But if you’re the Spurs, make this trade. If the asking price is right, why not go for it? But I think their number one option would be for Giannis. If that doesn’t work out, I think KD going to the Spurs could make some sense. So moving to Dallas now, sticking in Houston, I want to talk about a potential Dallas Mavericks Drew Holiday trade this off season. So, basketball forever onx tweeted out, “The Dallas Mavericks are quote expected to at least explore a trade with the Boston Celtics for Drew Holiday per Mark Stein. Holiday and Anthony Davis reunion.” So, this of course alludes to their time in New Orleans that they spent together and they were pretty solid together. Don’t don’t know get me wrong. So, there actually has been a lot of reports this off season of the Dallas Mavericks wanting to acquire a point guard. Um, this could very well be through the trade markets and I think someone like Drew Holiday makes a lot of sense. The Celtics probably are going to be looking to trade him. Uh, they want to get rid of that contract. They want to have a little more flexibility in regards to their payroll. And this makes a lot of sense, especially too with Kyrie Irving being injured and probably missing a majority if not the entirety of the 202526 campaign. I think having Drew Holiday as kind of a stop gap option in the meantime is tremendous. And then when Kyrie comes back having a back court of Drew Holiday and Kyrie Irving, you throw in Klay Thompson in there. You throw in players like Anthony Davis, Cooper Flag, uh Daniel Gaffford, Derek Lively. Like Nico Harrison could be cooking if you were to make a Drew Holiday trade. So I guess to me it really depends what you’re giving up. Like if the asking price for him isn’t that high, I say go for it. Uh Drew Holiday is an older player as well and he’s making a decent amount of money. Like this past year for Drew Holiday, he had 62 games played, 11.1 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, had 5.1 win shares. But where this guy is uh, you know, makes his bread and butter is on defense. Like he’s one of the better defensive guards in all of basketball. I think if he’s a compliment player alongside Kyrie Irving, it just makes a lot of sense. And defensively speaking, this could be a pretty awesome fit for him on the Mavericks. So Drew Holiday is going to be 35 years old next year. Not super ideal from an age perspective, but the window for this Mavericks team is now. And getting Cooper Flake’s an absolute bonus for them. But to build around Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and and uh you know, Anthony Davis, Drew Holiday fits this team perfectly uh with his experience and his playoff pedigree and his championship experience in the meantime. So, uh yeah, what do you guys think a Drew Holiday trade to the Dallas Mavericks uh were to look like? To me, it makes perfect sense in regards to Atlantic spot for him. So, sticking with the Boston Celtics, could the Boston Celtics be trading away Derek White to the Golden State Warriors? Well, once again, Basketball Forever on X tweeted out, “Derek White is an option for the Golden State Warriors, according to Logan Murdoch of the Ringers.” So, this kind of alludes to the point that the Boston Celtics could be looking to shake up their roster this off season. I’ve seen Derrick White’s name thrown out there as a player that could be dealt. Um, Drew Holiday and Porzingis are the likely ones. I would say on the outside, that’s where Derrick White and Jaylen Brown come into play. But Boston’s going to shake up this roster. They’re going to cut some payroll. They’re going to shed some salary. And I think it’s going to be in the form of Drew Holiday and Porzingis. But if Derrick White can fetch you a pretty good return, perhaps Kaminga heads back their way, maybe Pods heads back their way, whatever the case may be, like every player’s got a price. And if the uh the Warriors are able to match that for Derek White, this could be a pretty cool fit for him to go to Golden State. like having a back court of Derek White, Steph Curry, you throw Jimmy Buckets into the mix as well as Draymond Green. Like defensively speaking, that’s an awesome move for them to make. It adds more depth. It’s it’s an improvement over Jonathan Kaminga for instance. And I love this especially too with this Warriors team who wants to win a championship now. Derek White helps them get there. Like last year for Derek White in Boston, he played 76 games, averaged 16.4 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 4.8 8 assists per game, had 8.5 win shares, which is pretty incredible, and is only going to be 31 years old as well. So, I think for Derek White, you know, he’s a defensive wizard. He’s an NBA champion. He fits this Warriors team perfectly. The only question mark to me would be if Derrick White were to get dealt, what’s the asking price for him? What’s the trade package for him? In this case, as I mentioned before, uh you would suspect that Buddy He’s probably going to Boston. Kaminga is probably going to Boston. Maybe Pods is going to Boston. some draft capital as well. It’s going to cost them quite a bit, but uh yeah, Derrick White could be dealt and if he is dealt, the Warriors could be an option for him. I guess we’ll find out. So, that’s going to be it for this video. Thanks again for watching. Make sure to leave all your thoughts down below in the comment section of this video. As always, have an amazing rest of your day and I will see you in the next one.
