Should The Detroit Pistons TRADE For Derrick White?

Should The Detroit Pistons TRADE For Derrick White?

Can Derrick White transform the Detroit Pistons into a defensive powerhouse? As the Pistons eye potential trades, the spotlight is on Boston Celtics guard Derrick White. With his impressive stats, including 71% finishing at the rim and 38% three-point shooting, White’s versatility as a defender and playmaker is undeniable. Host Ku Khahil, with a guest promo from John Karalis of Locked On Celtics, explores the implications of acquiring White, weighing his fit against the Pistons’ pressing need for a power forward like Jaren Jackson Jr. The discussion explores potential trade packages, their impact on the Pistons’ roster, and whether White’s addition could elevate the team to a contending status.

  1. It's so funny how people over inflate and rank role players. Yes Derrick White is a role player a very good one but a role player none the less. People have been completely down on Ivey since he put on a Pistons uniform especially on this channel. Nobody was even talking about White as good player until he played a pivotal role on a championship team. It's funny how some fans won't even give this kid Ivey a chance to grow. They still have doubts even though outwardly they maybe saying otherwise. I hope Ivey comes out next season and destroys all doubts. He was on his way to to doing that before the injury. There's belief in Ausar who literally shown no consistency of the offensive side of the game but his defense is all world so he's the man. Except when Detroit needed baskets down the stretch of multiple games in the playoffs and Cade was double/tripled he was no where to be found.

  2. He’s not only is he statistically incredible, he has NBA championship pedigree and is an Olympic gold medal winner. Not many of those type of guys walking around playing at his level right now. The other reason he’s so valuable is because of his contract amount. If you can get a Derek White, you have to at least have a discussion. I do love Ivy and I think we should try to extend him but if we can get White I think I would have to pull the trigger on that trade. Especially with how the league is evolving into more of a defensive league with more contact allowed. Ivy plus two 1sts is a yes from me

  3. Too many gambling ads on these pods. Shit makes it damn near unbearable to listen to. Every goddamn place I go I’m getting hit with fucking reasons to go and start throwing away money to greedy ass casino owners.

  4. Good analysis bro White is a stud and super underrated. I’d be happy if Detroit could somehow get him and somehow not have to give up much. We saw how the Lakers got Luka so who knows anything can happen…

  5. While I don’t think Jaden Ivey can be a top defender he took 1 more shot than Derrick white this season. If Ivey development goes well I think he can have similar or better value to white once he enters year 7. I’d also rather trade Ausar, Ivey has a better shot at being a good defender than Ausar has at being good at offense.

  6. For old rock guys, Derrick White is like Alex Lifeson in Rush. He is greatly under appreciated at his craft because he plays next to two guys that are amazing at their instruments. Is he the best guitarist in the world? No. But he’s a really great guitarist that would be good in any band.

  7. I’m a big Ivey fan, but for the few things Ivey may do better than White in someone’s mind they are easily eclipsed by how much better White is than Ivey on defense alone. Having both Ausar and White for on ball defense would be vicious.

  8. I know my NBA White is a better player than Holland the twin. He shook better than Tobias and we need scoring bad. Marcus and a second round.

  9. Nice break down. It’s okay if you don’t think Jaden Ivey is a fit for the future of the Pistons. No one knows if he’s a fit or not. In fact, no one knows if any of the current players can fit together. However, saying Derrick White is a much better player than Ivey is ridiculous. A better defender, I’ll give him that and it took him time to become that, he is 30. He would not work with the pistons as a second scorer, he just doesn’t have enough juice.

  10. Ivey will shut this guy up once again once the season starts and will be in all star talks next year

Guy says hope Ivey takes that next step but he did. Doubters wanted to see him become a better shooter he did a better defender he did clutch gene showed in the 30 games he was able to play before that devastating injury

Let’s hope Ausar improves from a 20% 3pt and 60% ft shooting percentage next season

  11. Ku is spewing nonsense. White has averaged a little over 13 ppg for his career. He is also going to be 31 by time next season comes around. You don’t trade multiple first and a young player like Ivey for White my guy. I don’t want to hear about all these analytics either. White is a solid player on a good Boston team. He’s the same player that he was with the Spurs. Nothing has changed from what I can see. If he is a good as you hyping him up to be, then he should have helped lead Boston past New York. Yeah he laid an egg in game 6.

  12. Jaden Ivey is better than Derrick White. Derrick White has the luxury of playing alongside JT, JB, Jrue, and KP. What were those splits when he was on the spurs?

  13. It’s wild, how people want to Trade Ivey at 23 for White at who is several years older and was not half the player Ivey is at the same age. White’s best statistical years were worse than Ivey’s this year.

Yes White is better right now but Ivey’s ceiling is much higher.

  14. It’s wild, how people want to Trade Ivey at 23 for White at who is several years older and was not half the player Ivey is at the same age. White’s best statistical years were worse than Ivey’s this year.

Yes White is a little better right now but Ivey’s ceiling is much higher. He may surpass White by next year.

  15. As a Spurs fan and D White enjoyer, yall most definitely should. Replace Tobias Harris with Cam Johnson would be nice to see as well.
