They couldnt have planned this any better…
The Boston Celtics couldn’t have planned for this any better as Brad Stevens and this Celtics team made some big moves two offseasons ago to strike at some big name potential trade targets. And with one of those names being on the option list for the Celtics to shed some salary, one of the teams that they jumped to steal Drew Holiday away from is once again interested in the primary guard. And this could be key for Joe Missoula in this Celtics team. not only to give Joe Drew Holiday to a team that he can help contend, but also to give the Celtics what they want back in some compatible pieces, but also by shedding that salary and dropping below the second apron. So, we’re going to be diving in and exploring this new team that is linked to Drew Holiday and exploring some potential trades that could get the deal done. We’ll be describing all of that and more on this episode of Celtics Digest. I am Bruce Blesin. You guys have been absolutely fantastic showing your love and support for Patrick and I down below in this comment section, letting us know your guys’s thoughts on all the videos that we have been producing. So, I want to know your thoughts on this trade and if you guys think that Drew Holiday would be a key fit for the team that we describe and ultimately when looking back, who would you like to get in return from this team to really help out this Celtics squad? will once again be live today at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, 3:00 p.m. Pacific to discuss everything revolving around the NBA draft with the Boston Celtics. So, if you’re interested in that, make sure to stay tuned and come join us then as well. Without further ado, we’re going to dive in. We’re going to get into today’s video at hand today. So, make sure to grab that snack and let’s get into it. And we’re going to be discussing a lot of stuff, but are they checking back in is I think the real main discussion revolving around this team circling around Drew Holidays. We saw a report today come out from Brian Rob out of Mass Live, one of the people who has some inside sources or connections with the Boston Celtics and he wrote an article today saying a familiar suitor is expected to show interest once again and in Drew Holiday trade this time with the Boston Celtics. And once again, Brian Rob was the one that wrote this saying Celtics are poised to make significant changes to their roster this off seasonason after Jason Tatum’s Achilles tear amid a looming second apron financial crunch. And one valuable veteran Boston is expected to consider moving on via trade is Drew Holiday as the team looks to retool its roster amid new CBA constraints and penalties. Holiday is expected to be pursued by several teams on the trade market and a league source tells Mass Live that the Los Angeles Clippers are once again a team expected to show interest in the 34year-old guard this off season. Now, the Celtics once again, like I mentioned, outbid several times, several teams, including the Clippers per sources for Holiday back in 2023 when the Blazers made the two all-time all-star available following the Damen Lillard blockbuster trade. Boston ended up only dealing Malcolm Brogden, Robert Williams, and two future firsts for Holiday in that deal before training camp. And obviously bringing in that contract alongside Chris Stopzing helped the Celtics get to that title that they won last season. But now, as we all know, with these second apron restrictions, it’s not for the fact that, yeah, these guys are getting older, maybe they’re uh not at the value of their $30 million, but also for the fact that with these second apron restrictions, the Celtics just can’t constructively hold this team anymore. It’s not like in 2008 where Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen could had kind of run their tail for the Boston Celtics. This team could still be competitive and still could be a top tier team if these restrictions weren’t in place. And I would expect this team to kind of stay together if that wasn’t the case. But with these new restrictions, that obviously makes things a little bit more difficult for the Boston Celtics to move off of these players, but also makes it so that it’s more difficult to trade star players. And that’s what we’re seeing with Drew Holiday here. But when looking at Drew Holiday and this Clippers team, it does make sense for the Clippers once again to be invested in him. Like Brian Rob said, once again, they were outbid for him just a couple seasons ago. And we saw this season that the Clippers were a pretty solid defensive and uh team this year with Evik Kazubak down low in the paint. Kawhi Leonard in his scattered time was able to really hold himself own uh for the Los Angeles Clippers on the defensive side and Harden obviously being that key offensive piece. Norman Powell played really good to start off the season. They had young guys and obviously Derek Jones or Derrick Jones Jr. and Chris Dunn who are you know some pretty solid role players. I think that the Clippers have a decent package to offer for the Celtics in return to get a player like Drew Holiday. Not only just that does Drew Holiday really help out the Clippers and put them a little bit over the top. Pairing up alongside a guardian James Harden and Kawhi Leonard and Avika Zubac really sets this Clippers team into that, you know, contending category. Similar to when we discussed Drew Holiday alongside the Dallas Mavericks in some previous videos. That’s why they’re interested in him as well. And I think a lot of Western Conference teams that really see themselves either competing with the Oklahoma City Thunder or really putting themselves over the top next season while adding a Drew Holiday type player or contract could really see the need to trade for him. So, that gets into the next part here, which discuss who makes sense in a return for the Boston Celtics in a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. And we’re going to look at some potential moves the Celtics could do. When looking at this, obviously here right now, the Celtics could get reserve Bogdon Bogdanovich as a potential salary matching option in a deal. They could also get Drew Eubanks, who makes $4.7 million with a another lowcost player such as Joy Miller or Cam Christie. But would that be enough of outgoing salary for the Clippers to send out or absorb Holiday’s 32.4 million and satisfy CBA trade matching rules? Whether that type of trade package would satisfy either team involved is another matter, but that would get the job done. And Bobby Manning also kind of quote tweeted Brian Rob’s tweet and looked at some potential trades as well. Like he mentioned, Bogdanovich, potentially Drew Eubanks and Derek Jones Jr. for his two years combined for around $30.7 million for the Celtics to get in return. Obviously, not that much of a shedding, only dropping around $1.5 million in the trade, which may be a little bit weary for Celtics fans as if they do a trade, maybe they’re looking to shed a little bit more than just $3 million. They could also look at another deal involving Bogdanovich, Drew Eubanks, Chris, and a smaller salary that makes it right around $28 million with the Celtics saving right roughly right under four, a little over $4 million, right under five there with that Drew Holiday trade. As always, you might need a third team for LA to match money and for Boston to save money, like I just mentioned, like Bobby Manning just stated, but also added to the fact that there are more complications for the Celtics as this trade would fill up their roster ahead of free agency. Now, they do have some non-G guarantees on this roster, but level of urgency to bring back their own free agents might have a matter before doing this. guys like Al Horford and Luke Cornet, as we all know, are key free agents the Celtics are looking to bring back to help out that center room where they do look to try to trade off Christophs Porzingis to shed some more salary. The plus, I don’t think that this costs Boston much if any draft capital to get this deal done with the Clippers. Something that’s a little bit different with the Dallas Mavericks as the Celtics may and mock trades involving uh Drew Holiday would have to send out a second round pick. And then my boy Ian came up with another fantastic trade here as well for the Boston Celtics. Bogdon Bogdanovich, Derek Jones Jr. and Chris Dunn for the Drew Holiday. Once again, Dunn can kind of be that defensive point guard if you do start Payton Pritchard to play that bench role to once again bring those stocks, aggressiveness, grit kind of to fill in that defensive uh piece that you still do need that we saw the Celtics were missing with Drew Holiday missing time this season for the Boston Celtics in that starting lineup. Derrick Jones Jr. adds some wing depth as a defender, as a lob threat, can fit alongside a player in Jaylen Brown and is pretty solid to play for Jason Tatum as a role piece. But when Jason Tatum comes back, still has a one-year deal remaining to where he could be a solid wing contributor for this Celtics team specifically if they look to move off of the contracts or don’t believe in a guy in Jordan Walsh, let Tory Craig walk, or even do trade a guy in Sam Hower. And then Bogdan Bogdanovich once again kind of is just one of the main salaries that has to come back for the Celtics. one of the main tradable ones that the Clippers do have, but Vogdanovich could provide that scoring punch similar to a guy like Baylor Shyman here for the Boston Celtics or once again like a guy like Sam Howard to where if they do look to look to make that trade, they have a guy in Pritchard, Bdonovich, and Shyman to bring that offensive punch and scoring for the Celtics at that guard position. So ultimately, I do think that this trade does fill in some holes for the Boston Celtics. Once again, it would help them as well save some money within these salary crap uh restrictions. Now, like uh Brian Rob and Bobby Mining did stay, maybe the Celtics do do a deal like this where they try to get Jones, maybe try to get Chris Dunn and Eubanks back, but look to move Bogdanovich in a separate deal alongside that to shed even more salary, only bringing back right around $15 million in a projected deal for Drew Holiday, which would save the team roughly right around 17 million and put them even closer to escaping that second apron. But ultimately Brad Stevens is going to have a tough task at hand really evaluating not only one what the value of these players are on the market like Drew Holidayiday like Sam Hower like Chris Porzingis to shed the seller but also making sure that he can get back some attainable contracts or even some plausible moves for the Celtics to be able to rework this roster and reconstructure it to still stay afloat without Jason Tatum but also that should enough salary so when Jason Tatum comes back the Celtics team has enough growth to really add pieces or to make other trades to really bolster this team once again like they were just two seasons ago. So, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Let me know what you guys ultimately think on all this Drew Holiday trade chatter as he seems to be the main piece attracted by some of these teams. Obviously, with Porzingis dealing with that injury, it’s a little bit more of a question mark revolving around him. With Holiday still being a premier veteran and still being locked up on a three team a three-year deal, a lot of teams could value the presence of Drew Holiday, not only just as a veteran leader in the locker room, but what he provides on the court on the offensive and defensive side as well. So once again, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. What do you guys ultimately think? And I hope to catch you guys in the stream today. But if not, I’ll catch you guys in the next video. So have a great rest of your day and go Boston Celtics. Peace out everyone.

What do think about a Kevin Durant trade? We do need another forward to complement Jaylen Brown.🧐
Simple, trade Holiday, Brown, and Hauser. Get a really good power forward (Horford replacement) and whatever draft picks they can. Pritchard to the starting lineup and JD Davison in Pritchards current role. Resign Kornet, extend Porzingis for three more years at a more team friendly deal with a large player option in the last year which he'd probably like. Walsh and Scheierman can replace Brown's career .106 WS/48 at the three and when Tatum comes back either next summer or the following season the Celtics are right where they left off with a lineup of White, Pritchard, Tatum, Player X, and Porzingis/Kornet at the 5 with Walsh and Davison adding some real athleticism off the bench and Scheierman hoisting up three pointers. In 4 seasons plan to pick up Cooper Flagg as a free agent and retool around Flagg, Tatum and whoever of their young guys turn out to be real players.
I Hope The Boston Celtics Don’t Trade Anyone From The Roster And Just Pays The Luxury Tax And Also F The Draft Penalties.
Trade Jaylen Brown for Kawii Leonard!!
Jaylen brown as the number 1 will be a championship contender. Next season I guarantee he will finally be air Jaylen and be in the race for MVP
I prefer the Dallas trade mentioned a couple of days ago.
Gafford & Washington perfect trade ?
AGAIN:
PLEASE mute your computer when you switch windows!
A great point guard is way more valuable than any other position in todays NBA. Brunson, Haliburton, SGA, and Anthony Edwards (more of a de-facto point guard) for the Timberwolves!
Bogs is shockingly bad in d. He’ll be nearly unplayable in playoffs ? (In my opinion )
Pritchard starting will never cut it here.
When you can block a guy from setting a pick like a linebacker in the playoffs , it really hurts a guy like PP . It’s a load of BS but it’s a real thing.
I would trade Hauser and this year’s first for Mark Williams. Then I would salary dump Jrue in a 3 team trade with the Nets to the Clippers to get under the 2nd apron. (Bogdan to Nets) This is unlikely, but then I would flip White, Porzingis (expiring contract), and a FRP for KD. Have JB and KD to make the playoffs then hopefully Tatum can be back by playoffs.
Trade Houser,Porzingus, and Holiday get role players and draft picks.
Let Horford walk.
All of these trades show the low level of basketball iq.
Most of you are assuming that JT comes back from a major injury the same?? He doesn’t miss a beat and just comes back dropping 35plus games??
Wake up.
Isaiah stewart and ron harper for jrue or derick jones jr with bogie for jrue maybe flip bogie for a pick
Knect+ rui for porzingis
Houser for a 3 or 4 seocnds or a first to whoever
Resign kornet
Maybe horford on a team friendly deal if he isnt money chasing or retiring (haslem role)
Sign Marcus smart to team friendly deal in 2026 off season
Use tpes you got go back in tax run it back 2026
Celtics are done mext year…lets get real!
Trade Tatum asap🎉🎉🎉
