??OMG no, reports RJ for salary dump and now RJ for Demar and lateral in salary???? At Demars age his talent could start to degrade as well and then we have a dead weight salary. If you are going to trade RJ get a young player and a draft pick in the lottery. Go get a Onyeka Okongwu and the 12 pick. Go get Sohan from the Spurs and the 14th pick. Or do a bigger trade send RJ, Poetl and rights to Boucher or sign and trade for Okongwu, Bufkin and they seem to be moving off Capella take him as salary filler as well as the 12th and 22nd picks from Atlanta and add a center with Okongwu in the draft with one of those picks. You might even do a sign and trade with the Lakers and send Capella to the Lakers for whatever bad salary La wants to send us and some draft capital. LA is desperate for a center
If they trade for Demar a guy who will play less defense and no more offensive output and lose more than a decade in age I will not be able to watch the Raptors till all the GM staff is fired. If there are only rip off trades in the market keep him and try and sign him, you dont just get rid of a guy as he enters his prime. My guess is he goes north of 23 points a game next season and will have a few north of 25 point years in his career.
It's all about salary dumping.
What about RJ to Spurs for Vassell and 14th pick?

For context, Sacramento is looking to get younger and DD's name has been thrown out as possible trade bait. The Raps are one of 7 teams being mentioned only because Demar started his career with the Raps. Demar as a FA addition in 2 years would be okay, but the Raps are young and not looking to add any aging players, especially in exchange for any young players that haven't yet hit their prime. Also RJ's D continues to improve. Demar's never really did.
RE: Scotto's report – what he failed to mention was that RJ for BI was NEVER the full trade. RJ's name was thrown out with a couple of other Raps in exchange for BI AND Missi, Trey/Boston. The full trade would have involved about 6-7 players moving both ways. Masai was swinging for the fence and had to take a step back. The Pels knew that BI wasn't going to resign there so they took a coupe of expiring contracts and a pick.
He's literally on the best contract based on his value, would be a mad shame to loss him. I get sometimes there are cases where its out of our hands with the luxury tax and the cap. Hope we can make a move where we dont lose him
StaRJ has been the best overall Raptor, why even think of trading him Masai? Come on now.

No thanks unless we get Kings 2027 and 2029 top 5 protected each one + 2027 SAS first. RJ 11 plus years younger and DD can fall off. I would start J’KW for Def and 3. DD can play some with starters but lead bench with SB as he helped them last year.

I hate these rumours too. But they will keep happening. People are looking at Grady and Jacoby's better than anticipated starts – and that RJ only has 2 years left before he too will be getting a big pay raise – & Jak and Ochai coming up at the same time. So wanting to move RJ at peak value; the thoughts have some very mild merit. While the public seems to want to play moneyball much of the time; it's easy to forget – he's also peak value already to the Raptors on the floor. He's outperforming far more expensive players around the league. I'm not saying he's untouchable – but to actually pull the trigger on a deal – he has to net a haul – either part of a superstar deal or including equivalent quality on the floor and 1st round picks. All I see is reporters spitballing – and nothing that resembles anything that the Raptors organization would value vs keeping him & kicking the solving of contract issues down the road to next off-season. I'd submit by mid next year Raps will really know what this team is – and at that time Nobody is untouchable for the right deal(s)
