Who Should The Houston Rockets Trade For This Off-Season…?

What’s up everybody and welcome back to Lester Athletes. My name is Chadwell and today like always another interesting video for you here on the channel. Who should the Rockets target? Now I’m making this video cuz there’s a lot of different options the Rockets could go. Clearly after the playoff loss being the number two seed losing to a playing team in the Warriors, which granted Warriors were really good. Adding Jimmy Butler helped them not be really the seven seed probably should have been a little bit higher. Very close race no matter what happened. I would have to say that it’s a little sad to see them go out so early. Again, young team and it the series really showed that shooting was a need and they needed a for sure guy to lean on. Now, Shangun was somebody that is still great. He can be that guy for them, but just at the end of the day, there needs to be Shenun and somebody else. And Jaylen Green wasn’t. Amen. Thompson isn’t the shooter that you would probably want to lean on. So, I do believe that likely this off season, they could look for veteran talent. Now, I mean, you look at previous years, they’ve gone for Fred Van Vleet. They’ve gone for Dylan Brooks. They clearly have pushed the pace when it’s come to veteran talent. I could see the same thing happen. So, today we’re going to talk about some targets. It’s going to kind of start off. I wouldn’t necessarily this is a most likely to least likely kind of in that order or sorry least likely to most likely but I have also just some two like I want to count all stars and then we’ll get into the big ones that I think are pretty big ones. So starting off of Cam Johnson I do believe the Nets could really look to move net uh not move the Nets move Cam Johnson in the draft trying to move back into the draft lottery. I see. You know, you have to think about the Rockets have the number 10 pick. Lots of young talent, lots of picks with from the Suns and that’s ultimately what the Nets want. The Nets really want that young talent that young players they can kind of develop their team around and getting Suns pick could be good for the future if they are looking to sign someone huge like a Giannis. So, it could be really great. I think also Cam Johnson fits very well with the Rockets. I think you think of somebody that now like I said was before they kind of need that star to lean on. This isn’t the start to lean on, but if they want to go a depth route, this could be a really good 3 and player that could help a lot with shooting and defensively. He did really great for the Nets. Decent fit. Now, if they want to go older and go into a more bigger star, Kawhi Leonard proved at the end of the season that he still has it. It’s just how much are you willing to give? What’s going to happen with the Clippers with James Harden? Kawhi Leonard, does James Harden accept his player option? Does he decline his player option? There’s a lot of different factors. supposedly sham saying that this is going to be one of the biggest offseasons ever. So, we’ll have to see on that. But ultimately, Kawhi Leonard could easily become someone the Rockets could look at with the defensive skills and what he operates to the game. My only worry is really just are they willing to forego young talent to help Aqua Leonard and to grow this team? And I don’t think that’s going to be the case. So yeah, now we’re gonna really look at superstars and all stars. This is kind of I guess most like or least likely to most likely I say from now we’ll talk about it. Jaylen Brown’s just been an interesting case that’s been really and I mean really popping up for a lot a lot and I mean a lot of teams. So it all started when the Celtics kind of well I guess it really started when the Celtics paid all their players insane money. They’re not going to be able to pay their players. They’re going to be stuck in second separate second apron again. It’s not looking good for the Celtics. They’re going to have to rebuild this team again. Um I’m saying that this is going to be a crazy off season. The Celtics roster is going to look really, really different. Jaylen Brown is somebody that I don’t think he’ll be traded. I think Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Jason Tatum right now being the only untouchable one they said. But really, Jaylen Brown is the one that I tend to not think that it’s going to be traded. I think it’s going to be Drew Holiday. I think it’s going to be Kristoff’s. I really just have to believe that that’s the most likely spot and that’s what’s most likely going to happen. And yeah, Jaylen Brown is again another person that I really do believe will more than likely probably not be traded, but it’s still a mention because of how he could work, how they could use the picks. If they want to go depth route and they want to go younger, they could really go Jabari. You can go some young players as well. Jabari also contract extension, I’m pretty sure, coming up. You can pay him less money to really get somebody if you think you could develop him. It’s just not a lot of win now talent and that’s why I don’t think Jaylen Brown is what’s going to happen. Up next is Lori Markin. So this is one that I think not a lot of people are realizing could happen but could really happen. A lot of people tend to say that Lori Markin is not really a all-star anymore. And I would tend to agree with you but let’s be honest here. Lori Markin was on the Utah Jazz who won 17 games, went to the draft lottery, got the fifth pick, which is disgusting. When you’re the worst team, you get the fifth pick. That’s the absolute worst you could do. And Lori was getting benched on purpose. I mean, they got fined thousands, hundred thousands of dollars because they were purposely benching Lori. They’re purposely doing bad. So, if that’s the case, I don’t blame it on Lori. I blame it more on the team. But, you know, you do have still look back and be like, well, it’s a little sus, a little bad. I really just believe that Lori Markin could fit very well with this Rockets team and the Utah Jazz. You struck out again with the fifth pick. Uh, and does not help you maybe as much. Could they look to get number 10 as well? Go for high upside. Get a Ford like Jabari Smith Jr. Get Cam Whitmore. I mean, there’s a lot of young talent. I could really see the Jazz trying to trade Lori away. And the Rockets would really like a scoring forward that could work out very well. Up next is Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant’s going to be in trade rumors throughout this whole entire off seasonason. I think he it’s likely he’ll be traded from the Suns. Clearly wasn’t meshing well. Deadline looked like it was about to happen. Kevin Durant will probably be moved. It’s just where. And I think the Suns would sell super cheap to this uh Rockets if they can get back picks. And that’s why I keep wanting to put Kevin Durant on the Rockets because it could be the go-to guy. It’s the vet. Kevin Durant’s one of the best two-way players we’ve seen as a forward. I mean, look at his defensive skills. He’s the best scorer we’ve had. Um being seven foot is insane, but I guess he wasn’t entirely defensive. he was, you know, most defensive for a little bit, but he’s not like def all defensive. I’m saying, but he’s still a great two-way forward. Um, when you’re looking at both sides of the ball, I just have to believe that Kevin Durant will do wonders for this Rockets team to really help him. It’s just what are they willing to give up? You could really I mean with how old Kevin Durant is with the how valuable the picks are to the Suns I would not be shocked if it’s not that much at all like a couple picks and then some young players like it’s not not expensive at all and I really say have to say that Kevin Durant will likely end up somewhere else and the the not Suns the Rockets will probably end up being in that trade. Up next is Giannis. Everyone wants to talk about where will Giannis go. Now, if I’m not mistaken, when was that? Giannis said he was having a meeting with the Bucks. I don’t actually remember if the Bucks said that they were going to trade him or not. I do remember that Giannis were debating on it and said he’d be open to it then more than anything. I expect Giannis to be shocked for a long time and then we’ll see if a move happens. More than likely, I don’t think it’ll happen because let’s be honest here, it’s a lot of pushing pieces. You can say a little bit that will happen, but will happen actually I really do believe that Giannis more than likely will not be traded. But if there’s a place that it happens, the Rockets have everything. They have the picks, they have not their picks, which I think the Pelicans have a slight advantage if they would want somehow want to get Giannis. You have the picks. You have the star power. You have players around Giannis that could really help him. You’re in Texas that he wanted. There is just so much you could do. And I really do believe Giannis with the Rockets is almost a perfect fit. Now, what would you trade if you could somehow trade in this would be your starting lineup somehow someway? a um Fred on a team friendly contract, Amen Thompson, Dylan Brooks, [Music] um I would yeah Dylan Brooks, Giannis and Sangun, and then off your bench, you still have you know Tari, you still have some Reed Shepard, maybe the 10th pick if they’re not you’re not trained the 10th pick and I’m obviously forgetting some bench pieces. That’s a really good starting lineup and I really do believe that for the future that could really help Giannis. Now, let’s be honest here. West is tough. East is a little better to get through. A little questionable in my opinion, but still I believe Giannis could be really great for the Houston Rockets. And number one, kind of my most likely I’ve been kind of going back and forth on Giannis, KD, and Booker. I would probably put them all in the same uh gap. I think Lori, chances are doesn’t get traded this season. I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Same with Jaylen Brown. I think these top three will likely be traded. Devin Booker. Now, this is why I think everything they wanted Jaylen Green to be is what Devin Booker is and what they would want. They would want someone to go to when they need some shots. They want a scorer. They want shooting. They want somebody that could slightly play point guard as well, which Deon Booker would be very well at. Devin Booker is probably a insane perfect piece for the Rockets. And when you look at the trade assets, you could throw in Jaylen Green, Jabari, Cam Whitmore, Reed Shepard if they want to. I don’t know if it wouldn’t cost all of them, of course, but I’m just looking at pieces that they would maybe be likely to trade. And then you look at first round picks. You have the Suns first round picks. You have many of the Suns first round picks. You have your own picks. They have tons of picks to be able to get this trade done. And if the Suns would go to a tanking route, which after all the trades and everything would likely show, then I have to be honest with you, I think we see the Suns and Devin Booker do a trade because you would have again, let’s talk about the starting lineup. Maybe Fred, Devin Booker, Amen, power forward. You could go Tari if you really want to. Sangun works out well. say you keep some forwards, then you don’t go that route. There’s so much you could do with that pick and I think they have the youth and everything to do it. Dean Booker is probably one of the better players to pick. Other than that, I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you think down in the comments below. I’ll see you in the next one. Goodbye.
