What do the Celtics need this offseason?
Three perfect moves to the Boston Celtics now that their title defense season is over. I’m absolutely gutted by the way the Celtics finished this season. Jason Tatum is one of the most healthy and durable stars in the league and for him to go down like this with a serious injury is just a bummer. And there’s a lot of ramifications that come from that. First, the Celtics are going to be cutting costs this summer. It was already reported that they were planning on doing this, but with the Tatum injury, it’s basically a foregone conclusion. There’s a big possibility that two or three of Christophs Porzingis, Al Horford, Drew Holidayiday, and Sam Hower are no longer on the team next season. And because they’re trying to do it to save money, it’s unlikely that they’ll get any major players in return. Second, the Celtics need to go younger. I’d try to scout hard and find some other young players that they can develop and use next season. And finally, they should not trade Jaylen Brown. It’s easy to say that they should just tear everything down and start over, but it is hard to trade Brown’s contract right now and also do it while upgrading. What they should do is just bring him back and use next season as a gap year. And if they do that, they’ll have had a perfect off seasonason.

I wonder if the Spurs will have any interest in Brown? They definitely have the assets to make the trade for him. They get a smart wing to form a big 3 of Fox, Brown, and Wemby. Castle gets another year of experience in, and fill in some gaps and they could definitely be a 50+ win team.
