Greg Oden vs Kevin Durant!NBA RS 2009.2.11 Oklahoma City Thunder at Portland Trail Blazers

A check with Rebecca and the opening tip back in one minute as the Thunder were outscored by the Lakers 3522 pick and rolls with a guy that’s 610 Durant. So if you switch on it like the Blazers just did, you got to play defense. Jeff Green through the middle. Wild shot. He hit it and he’s fouled. Last time these two teams played, he didn’t take a shot for the first six minutes as you said, trying to establish inside. Here’s oneonone. Durant and Aldridge. They know each other well. They play each other against each other in the summer in Texas. And away. And up ahead comes Sergio trying to push tempo. Something Portland didn’t do often in Oklahoma City. This one is stolen by Weaver to Kevin Durant who finishes. So Portland’s first turnover turns into a quick Oklahoma City bucket. Again, you don’t want that. They wanted to get the ball to Roy, but there was no chance that Sergio has to set everything up. Looking for the high low. There it is. Oden the catch down low against Carison and Od hook with the right hand. You can tell tonight they’ve got a little something in their step. They’re ready to play. Westbrook gets past Sergio. Odin needs it up on the glass. Sergio then a bounce pass up ahead to Batum. No re as Oklahoma City the other way. Excuse me. Odin the steal here. So they give it right back to Portland. But high level of difficulty on the long bounce pass by Sergio. I know Abilly didn’t like that. Rodriguez through the middle says you take it over and he scores especially on a threeon two under a minute to play here in the first quarter. Weaver trying to go to Durant. Durant is two for five here in the quarter. Outlaw fouls him here and Durant will shoot free throws. Blazers had to Watson. Durant got to put up the three. Nowhere to go. Drives inside and misses the floater after running down Prisbilla. Uh and he knows it and he wouldn’t mind. Yes. Here’s Rudy. sets up for three in the corner and he hits. So for Fernandez, make that 29 straight games with a three-pointer and that ties the record by an NBA rookie as Durant then answers from the outside. But back to the rebound taken by Durant. All of a sudden, a threeon two by the Thunder lob to Will Cox and he jams. And that’s what Durant can do. He can lead the fast break and and you have to pick him up because of his shooting ability and he can also pass. Boy, quite a basketball player. Chrisbella to Rudy through the middle. Fernandez is a block from behind by George and Bis will go to the bench. So now Portland goes a little smaller with Travis Salah moving to the four as Durant is out and Jeff Green back in for well he can do that. Here’s a lob the other way to Westbrook who gets behind Roy and flips. Didn’t call it out. Here’s Odin who’s back in the game for Chris Bella working against Christies. flips the hook shot off the mark and for the Blazer defense. Well, the Thunder led very early in this game and now have the lead back by one as they go back to Odin against Christ who has one foul. Greg gets the lead baseline and that’s too easy. Aggressive and quick hands of Willox nearly coming up with a steal. Blazers back on top by [Applause] one in San Francisco. We’ll be down at Golden State watching the Warriors and Trailblazers. So, Coach Rice, cancel your plans. Odin backs Christ. It’s all the way to the middle and is fouled. Good strong move by Odin. And Christristen, he’s coming back in right now. Forget that thought. I was going to say Collison came in early and had just the one foul went out and has played only five minutes of this game and getting hot. They were that their defense really clogged the middle. So, you need someone shooting like Rudy. Roy fakes the entry pass to Odin then drops it to Greg baseline and he jams. Roy set it all up and Drew make out in that exchange. Roy through the middle, drops it to Odin. Couldn’t get a catch on it. Now gets it back and is called for a travel. Blazers arguing it never had possession of the ball tech. That’s how Zack Randol makes [Music] his Durant top of the key against Outlaw. Throws it up and hit it. So Kevin Durant gives the Thunder a two-point lead back to one for four at the foul line. Here’s Odin against Collison who has the four fouls. Greg takes advantage. Collison tries to flop and Greg just flips rebounds in that win. And I love to see him flopping. That means they can’t stop you. Durant a strong move inside out of control and just threw it up and he gets rewarded. Here’s Odin first against Cison a moment ago. [Music] Durant very good at that. That’s why you talked early. Not a good one. Another Portland turnover, but Batum hustles and gets it back. Blazers now an advantage the other way. Although now the Thunderback defensively. Nice pass. Batum to own the secondary fast break. Catch it. Will take a three over Aldridge. It’s off. Nobody gets on Westbrook and he grabs the offensive rebound. New shot clock. See, that’s the guards just not working. You know, Westbrook hits the boards every time. Durant to the rack. Fouled by Aldridge. That’s going to be his fourth. And it’s the little things as Watch the pass by Batum first. A little shovel to Odin running the floor well. And he jams it down. Durant at the free throw line again. The foul went to Odin. Have effort. He has effort. Sergio throws it away. Durant read it. Took it away. Weaver and Durant. Weaver to Durant and he scores. Another Portland turnover and really an unforced error. 10 turnovers now for Portland. And when they lead them layups like that, oh, you got problems. Roy gets Weaver off his feet, goes high off the glass. No, Odin. No. And the rebound inside. Greg grabbed it out now as Rudy Fernandez back in with his fouls. And Roy off with the jumper here. So new life for the Thunder. Westbrook out of control to Durant. Durant tries to zip a pass to Collison and he has Fernandez on him. Takes some extra time out and recovers and blocks West back to Collison and he tries to pass out and he found Fernandez. Here’s Bis in the open floor undercut and a hard foul on Bis. Strong take by Jared Bis and it’s nice that he’s okay. Durant down that left side into Odin. Runs him down. Offensive foul and that’s a new wrinkle to Greg Odin’s game. We have not seen him draw many offensive fouls or go down much, but he has lately. He gets up and kind of runs down the court. You love to see that emotion a little bit. Oh, yeah. He had a little collision between the first and second picks from the And you know Westbrook is going to the board every time. It’s not difficult. You know, he’s going to go after Durant trapped. He got rid of it to Green. Then Westbrook inside, jams over Outlaw. And the Blazers need time. Russell Westbrook singlehandedly is keeping this Oklahoma City team in this right now. Westbrook a moment ago. He kept this play alive and then got to finish it inside with two hands. The reason he’s doing that, he has six offensive rebounds, eight total, but six though keeps it alive and Bis grabs the rebound. How many times does Odin do that in ball games where he doesn’t get credit for a rebound, but he keeps it alive to a teammate. Here’s another one. And with the right hand. Yeah, they have a ski. He had six of them on Sunday. Durant into Roy. Brandon holds his ground and Durant misses the shot. There’s rebound. Now Rudy ends up on Green. Odin in the area. Green through the middle. Odin rejects it. Picked up by Outlaw. Fernandez tip ahead. Travis bounce pass for the jam. Nice block. Blazer love. Well, look at the rookies doing it for Portland right now. There’s the block by Greg Odin. There’s a pass by Rudy and there’s the dunk by Bis. Rookie pack. I like it. So now post or something. No, it’s uh TV station in Houston. Oh, Bis through the middle is Rudy. Up under. No, Odin follows it and scores with the right hand. What a finish by Odin. Put a little English on the ball. Smile. So moving 16 points, nine rebounds, three blocks for Odin in this game. Here’s Durant hits. And you can watch Odin’s reaction here after the follow on the Fernandez miss. Odin happy about that. Says, “I got your back.” Here’s Durant into Odin and the foul’s going to be on Greg, his fourth. Watson the other way. Floater spins out. Rebound Durant and he’s fouled by Odin. His [Applause] fifth one Odin is and Durant. Roy crossover move. Bailis who has a careerhigh eight assist tonight. Bless Roy knocked to the floor and Oklahoma City steals. Roy got kicked in the head and Westbrook throws down a big dunk. Brandon, I have Greg Odin who once again put together some fantastic numbers for himself. Greg, you guys went on a 16-2 run there. It was the turning point in this game. How’d you blow things open offensively? Well, really, we just wanted to play with some energy, you know, just bring the energy, play hard on defense, make sure they’re not scoring, and and just play with our energy, move the ball, just keep moving the ball like we did. And what sets you up for that run offensively was the defensive the defensive play that you guys established in the first half of this ball game. What did you do to send that message early? Just wanted to be physical and and not let them get into their stuff. You know, last game they kind of embarrassed us and and they were able to run whatever they wanted. So, we just wanted to get into them and make sure that they couldn’t. You and Kevin Durant, of course, are forever tied together as one two in that draft. And I know you have mutual respect for each other’s games, but was it nice to get up and put up some good numbers for you tonight? It is definitely. You know, this is going to be a rivalry or people going to make it a rivalry for a long time. So, for me to at least win one, you know that he’s just not dominating it right now. Thanks, Greg. Guys, hi. Thanks.
