TRADE INCOMING? Knicks FRUSTRATED w/ Karl-Anthony Towns Defense… | Knicks News

This is insanity. Major changes are coming. According to reports, the Knicks were extremely frustrated with Carl Anthony Towns and his defensive habits this season. Tom Thibido even confirmed big changes are coming this off season. This could mean the Knicks could be making a major trade and Carl Anthony Towns could be part of that deal. The Knicks are frustrated with Carl Anthony Town’s defense. Wow. I never expected this. Obviously, the Knicks season ended last night after they were eliminated from the Eastern Conference Finals. But once they were eliminated, it was like the floodgates opened up because reports started pouring in about the Knicks being frustrated with Carl Anthony Towns and his defense, leading many to believe New York could trade him this off season. Let’s go ahead and break down all of these latest reports. Shout out to NBA Central on the app X for giving us this following information here. According to The Athletic, Knicks players and coaches were reportedly frustrated with Carl Anthony Town’s defensive habits. According to The Athletic, James L. Edwards stated the following. Publicly, the Knicks players made veiled comments all season about poor communication causing their inconsistencies. behind the scenes. They and coaches express frustration with Town’s defensive habits, less concerned with his talent level and more with his process on that end. Too often, Towns executed incorrect coverages without communicating why he did it. After it became a theme, players worried about Towns and not being able to grasp the importance of the matter. This is insane. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this happen before, especially not right after an elimination game. The Knicks were just eliminated. As soon as that happened, this report comes out about the Knicks being frustrated with Carl Anthony Towns, his defense, or his lack of defense, him not communicating, and making incorrect switches. You expect reports like this to come out maybe a week or two after the Knicks are eliminated, not the exact same night of the elimination. Insanity. And clearly, you can see Jess Holtz, Carl Anthony Towns agent, after they saw this report, they went in and they responded with the following. Let’s go on the record with who doesn’t think Carl Anthony Towns understands the gravity of these games. again, be a journalist. He has won starting with high school banners to a historic Kentucky team to conference champs. That notion is demeaning to his intelligence and his resume. But it’s easy. What she means by that is it’s easy to pick at what Carl Anthony Towns doesn’t do right versus giving him credit for all the good things that he does. Listen, while I can understand what Carl Anthony Towns agent is saying here, I think it’s extremely understandable to understand why the Knicks have these frustrations with Carl Anthony Towns. We don’t even have to look at the entire season. Let’s just look at last night’s game six. There were a number of times he dropped off on good three-point shooters, either giving them too much space or giving them a clean open look from three. And every time he did that, he got burned for it. And the Knicks got burned for it as well, too, because the Pacers were able to convert on that three-point shot. You cannot play drop coverage against Pascal Seakum, against Aaron Nesmith, against Tyrese Hallebertton, because they are capable of hitting open three-point shots. You need to understand this if you’re the one defending them, if you’re the one switching on them. And sometimes those switches did not look right. We saw a number of times Carl Anthony Towns overhelp. What happens when he does that? An open three-point shooter is available in the corner. Sometimes Towns is late to rotate. And when that happens, so many open lanes inside, back door cuts for days. Those things happen because Towns is doing things without communicating. The Knicks even called it. It was a theme and they were worried this theme was going to affect them in the postseason. And it did. For all the gifts that he has on offense and all the great things he did on the rebounding end of the ball this year on defense, he was just so poor at times, giving up a lot of the things he was giving New York on the offensive side. He has to be better on defense. And I can understand that frustration level. However, I never thought that frustration level potentially could lead to the Knicks trading Carl Anthony Towns this off season. Now, I’m not saying that’s a guarantee, but the reason I’m saying this is because Josh Hart and Tom Thibido had the following comments after game six. It’s given the comments of Josh Hart and Tom Thibido. Here’s what Josh Hart had to say about next year. According to Hart, you’re always going to hear about me saying run it back. Feel the team is good enough for the next step, but it’s a business. my eighth year, fourth team, seven coaches, can’t ever be too comfortable. That’s what’s most disappointing, knowing there’s a good chance this team might not be back in totality. And according to Tom Thibido, when he was asked what the next steps are for this Knicks team after their season comes to an end, he stated, “It’s a big off season for us.” He mentioned free agency. He mentioned the draft and he also mentioned trades. So you have Josh Hart basically indicating that this Knicks team will not look the same next year. And then you have head coach Tom Thibido essentially confirming major changes will be happening this off season. I absolutely believe trades are coming this off season only if the cost makes sense. with Leon Rose in this Knicks front office. They are not going to make moves just to make moves. The only way they’re going to make a move is if they feel that move is going to bring them one step closer to a championship. If they don’t have to gut the roster in the process. But if they’re going to gut this roster, if they’re going to trade for a player, a superstar, that player is going to be Giannis attent. cannot see this Knicks front office gutting this team for an aging superstar in Kevin Durant. It sounds nice. The fit sounds nice, but I don’t think the Knicks are going to do that. If the Knicks make any trade for a superstar, it’s likely going to be for Giannis. And if they have to gut the team to do that, that’s the trade I feel they’re going to gut the team to do. But if that trade is not available and the other trades available around the league just cost too much, I don’t think the Knicks are going to make any major trades. Maybe they’ll make some minor trades for the bench, improve the bench, get more bench players that the Knicks can utilize during the regular season and the postseason. According to James L. Edwards of the Athletic. Now that the Knicks enter the off season with Anobi, Brunson, and Hart signed through 2028, and Towns and Deuce McBride signed through 2027. Bridges and Robinson are entering the final years of their contracts. It’s too early for them to lock in any major decisions about the roster. Though, Muel Bridg’s next deal will be the story of the summer. he becomes eligible for a 4-year $156 million contract extension before next season. I think the only untouchable players on this team at this point is Jaylen Brunson and OG Anobi. I think everybody else on this roster depending on the players that are available, depending on the trade on the table, they could be available in a trade that lands the Knicks. Either a superstar player, an allstar player, or a very special player. The Knicks have a window to win a championship. That window has already started. We are in that window right now. And Leon Rose and this Knicks front office will do everything in their power to maximize this window and try to help New York bring a championship home to a place that we haven’t seen one in 50 plus years. And we’re going to know more about those additions once the off season officially begins. But clearly given all of these updates, all of these reports, changes are coming this off season. And if a trade happens, Carl Anthony Towns could be included in that deal that lands the Knicks their next special player. But what about you guys?
