Well he’s definitely available but you have to question how much you are going to get out of the guy. He isn’t the most durable dude and his offensive game is limited. You’d think someone like Dunn makes more sense if you are just trying to get a defensive stopper.
He would have been a great acquisition if Mavs still had Luka. He’s good but the team is now different and has other priorities.
I think they should also keep some assets for January.
If is a 3 or 4 team deal and Mavs land Herb Jones I can see that but we er going to lose PJ and Gaff + draft compensation, but definitely we need a guy like Herb now that we er going to draft the nr 1 overall a guy like Herb make more sense then PJ and Gaff

Gotta hope Flagg fills the need it had for Herb Jones. This team truly needs shot creation since it traded away its primary shot creator, and that is the glaring need. The team had the best shot creator in the league and getting that back to any degree will still need some more unbelievable luck.

3 for 1, 4 for 2 trades this off season. We just have too much depth, too many win later pieces.
If you sign Lonzo the. You have your wing defender and guard. If you can get lonzo and pj, without losing pj or gaff then all of your prayers are answered. Not only can they bothe play with Kai, but they can play with each other as well. We have our primary ball handler, wing defender and POA defender. You’d have your guard holes filled for less than half of herb
I would love Herb but we need to stop trying to do trades that involve us moving a first. Why do we have to do Gafford or PJ plus a first for a solid guard? We should be able to move Gafford for a quality guard alone if we move a first it needs to be for a young promising building block
If healthy I ABSOLUTELY go get Herb Jones, he's a top 3 perimeter defender and would be a great POA defender

Herb played 20 games last year.
He shot 30% from three and his efficiency was around 50%, among the worst numbers among guys who played 30+ minutes a game. He might be a black hole on offense. You’d think, if that’s what we wanted, you could find it cheaper.
A great defender who can’t shoot and might be hurt.
His game diminished dramatically over just one year.
It might the rotator cuff or something else. The pelicans know and we don’t.
Overvaluing Gafford.. he may be great during regular season but let’s not forget he was not playable at points during last seasons playoffs

I think being a clear weakness on one side of the floor is more detrimental now than ever. Teams would force Herb to shoot in playoff series and would be hard to keep him on the floor. Mikal, Murphy make more sense for an all in move

PJ is better than Herb, people. He's not needed. If you're willing to trade either Gafford or PJ, u get a positional need. That is a playmaking back up PG to help Kyrie.
