Nets Poised to Sign the NBA’s BEST KEPT SECRET
What’s going on everyone? Welcome back to another edition of BKNY Hoops. If you are new to the channel, I am your host as always, Rashid White. All right, let’s get into it. You guys see the graphics, you see the actual title. Um, Brian Whit, ESPN Brian Winhorse is basically saying that uh Nas Reed wants out, but there are other conflicting reports out there saying that he does he he definitely wants to stay, but he actually does want more money. Now, Nas Reed is a bench player. He’s a former sixman of the year. Um, he’s signed, I think, a $41 million contract. And, you know, can he actually play expanded minutes or does he want a bigger role? We’re going to dive deep into that right now. First, let’s get into this actual article. And all right, so you guys actually see it over here. Um, Timberwolves free agent. This comes from um um si.com here. Uh he can actually flourish with the Brooklyn Nets. And let’s get into the whole good stuff of this um article here. He will be coming off a threeyear $41 million contract and will be certainly command a decent check in this year free agency. That is one of the keys reasons why ESPN Brian uh Winhorse believes Nas Reed is on the way out. Winhorse was re recently on an episode of part of my take where he was asked about the Timberwolves ability to keep all three of their top scorers next season and Nale Alexander Walker Naz Reed and Julius Randle. He said I would be surprised if they’re able to sign all three guys. Winhor said Randle alone commands a $30.9 million uh player option which could potentially potentially I’m sorry soak up a chunk of Minnesota’s cap space leaving the opportunity for Nazareth to find a new opportunity and home. Um so the Brooklyn Nets they are you know on a rebuild over here. I don’t know what the hell they doing man but um it says as mentioned the only player Brooklyn is expected to fully invest in is Cam Thomas. Oh gosh, man. So, putting together a team around young the young scorer is the Net’s best bet. So, Nas Reed could be ready to take on a starting role with this next team. And with rumors of the current uh Nets center Nick Claxton potentially heading out heading out west this summer. I don’t see that actually happening. I don’t think he actually helps the Lakers. And that was the whole rumor right there. Um, you know, I’ve been over the whole Nick Claxton thing a billion times. I’m not going to get into it into this video over here, man. So, we look at Nazri salary. He’s making um 40 was it $13 million. So, he signed a threeyear $41 million contract. That’s rounded off to damn near $42 million. And um so the thing is with Nas Reed is like, does he really want the extra responsibility, right? And how much? And and you know, at this point, the scenario that Brooklyn is in right now, they are going to actually have to overpay for him. and you actually look at his stats, his total career average is 11.6 points a game. So, if he actually starts right, he’s going to actually have to take on more of a scoring load. uh the defense that he actually has to play, not just against like the Paulo Ben Carroll and the the the um the Wimbees, the the the Shangoons, the Anthony Davis’s, you know, he actually has to really take on like, you know, he has to get switched on to like all these dynamic point guards and shooting guards, you know, um around the league there. whereas he actually come off the bench. Um he’s, you know, not doesn’t have to go against the top tier guys, you know, for the most part. But, um, he is effective and how many minutes he actually really averages for his career. Let’s see here. Let’s see. Let’s see. Oh, hold on. Just out of here. Um, let’s see. Let’s see. Minutes. So, 27.5. So, if you give him 38, let’s say 38 39 minutes a game, um, does the production even fall off even more, you know? So, I don’t know, man. Like, I mean, you’ll give him a raise, but, you know, if it was me, I’m happy just making like, you know, 15 to 25 million coming off the bench, right? There’s not a lot of pressure, you know, on me like that. I mean, you’re not going up against like the Donovan Mitchells and, you know, even though he’s a power forward/ sensor, you know, he will get switched on to those guys and they expect you to really guard. They expect you to play defense. They don’t want to hear, “Oh, well, Donovan Mitchell and John Mor and um, you know, these guys are too like fast or they, you know, you got to really like try to force those guys into a second option at least, man. You can’t just like, you know, give up a easy layer because the guys are too quick.” So, that’s more wear and tear on him. And and, you know, his his weight, let’s see. Let’s see. He’s at 264 lbs. and you know the wear and tear of him starting and playing heavy minutes you know I don’t know at that weight it it’s tough it’s tough you know so um you guys let me know in the comments section there should Nas Reed I guess he’s looking for more like 25 to $30 million a year is he really worth it you know um I think no because again you’re not going to actually win with him. I mean, you’ll get a slight bump, I guess, but you know, you never know, too. He may he may actually just like, you know, uh get get a a nice raise. Let’s say if you sign him, like a $100 million and then he takes his foot off the gas, right? We’ve seen that with so many players, man. you know, over the like the 30 something years I’ve been watching the NBA, I’ve seen guys like um like like have good production, you know, off the bench. If y’all guys remember Travis Outlaw, if you remember him, y’all remember him. Um uh Mikey Moore is another one who was a bench player and then like he comes to the Nets. Uh Jason Kidd makes him look really good and he gets a um a you know a nice bump a raise based off the productivity and then once they get the bag it’s a it’s a guaranteed contract you know these guys take their foot off the gas so you know the the you don’t know if Nas Reed is actually really going to do that or not you know so it’s a serious gamble but you know um but you know like signing him will make the team much more interesting and So, um, and it’s definitely an upgrade to what the Nets currently have right now. So, definitely like, comment, subscribe, certainly share the actual stream. Um, when you share, the universe certainly shares back with you. Peace. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. Most likely Minnesota retains him or tries to sign and trade him for Kevin Durant this summer 👀 🧐…..
for 25 mil. I'd take the gamble!
love the click bait, you're a pro now lol
I like nas
Y’all do know we let KAT walk so we can sign NAZ and NAW 😅 this is so ignorant!!! He’s definitely staying in MN so he can win!!!!! 😂🐺🔥
NAZ is a 4, who can play some 5. He is a horrible defender at the 5, and average at the 4. Him and Rudy make a great duo when on the court together, think they were like +12 per game for the season. When Wolves had Reid and Randle playing the 4 and 5, they had like worse defense in NBA type numbers going on. Point is you don't want NAZ at the 5, so Claxton/NAZ combo would probably be nice. That said, I'm pretty sure he'll be back in MN on a new big contract. Nets need to tank for a few more seasons, I expect them to take on bad contracts and get picks with their salary cap space.
