Rich Eisen’s Offseason Advice for His New York Knicks | The Rich Eisen Show
Now then, as for the New York Nickers, here’s my opinion of the U Eastern Conference Finals. Damn it. I wanted to beat the Pacers so damn bad. God, I wanted to beat them. Cuz when Tyresese Hallebertton’s not your guy, Indiana, he is just infuriating. infuriating with the with the choke thing and the this thing and the that thing. Just can’t want to beat another person more. And I say this knowing how Tyrese is a number one dude. I get it. He was great. took a picture, you know, from I gave a shout out to Coupe because Coupe had him on multiple fantasy teams and all that. God, I wanted to beat him. I wanted to beat all the Pacers. I wanted to beat everybody, but they couldn’t because they just didn’t play well enough. They blew game one. That’s what cost them. That’s why we’re not talking about a game seven tonight. That’s why Turner signed off on Saturday night. That’s why the Knicks are now in an off season where you got to wonder even with all their maneuvers, even with Cat coming and playing very well throughout the season, even with Bridges coming and trading all of those picks, even with all of that, they’re still not good enough. And you got to sit here and wonder if Tatum didn’t blow out his Achilles, would they have been good enough to hold off the Celtics in the second round? That’s the sort of things you got to think about. and the two crazy ass storylines that you’re hearing about or that you heard about throughout much of the Eastern Conference Finals, which was Brunson holding on the ball too damn long and their offensive sets would start right at half court because the Pacers were picking up the Knicks from the first inch of inbounding the And then they would try and pick and roll and the Pacers were pushing this thing out to the midcourt logo and it was Brunson’s fault and the offense couldn’t get into a rhythm because it was the fault of the generationally brilliant player that Nick fans love for good reason. And then Carl Anthony Towns, his defense. That’s what we’re hearing about now is that the Knicks were infuriated by his lack of either understanding or buyin or whatever it is. And then that then it’s on the coach. One of the most successful Knicks seasons in a long time now filled with some recriminations. And how real is it? How viable is it? Tom Tibido didn’t turn to some of the guys on the bench until like game three of the Eastern Conference Finals. And then the question is, is he survived? Word is that Leon Rose, the team executive who turned this franchise around, likes him. It’s up to James Dolan. Good luck there. Well, Tibido’s future was brought up to Brunson in the first blush press conference after getting blown out in the second half on Saturday night. When you you talk about the confidence, obviously I feel like nobody takes more criticism than Tom and this team obviously has turned around during his tenure. Do you kind of feel that going forward he’s the same guy to lift you guys the rest of the way that next level? Is that is that a real question right now? You just asked me if I believe that if he’s the the right guy. Yes. Thanks, guys. And that’s the end of the press conference. So, here’s the deal. Um, Tibido should stay. Period. and you know he should stay because if he doesn’t Brunson’s pissed and you got to make sure Brunson is as happy as they come and then figure out what to do next. You asked me that question before the show and I said if they want to step it up, if they feel the need, they have to step it up. And they wound up shy despite having a apparently healthy roster and homecourt advantage dropped in their laps against a team that they should have been better than because they added all of these improvements. Mhm. and had a better regular season record throughout the year than the Pacers, then they got to make sure Giannis says, “I want to play for them.” That’s it. If Giannis isn’t play, that’s the one. And then, you know, with all due respect to everybody out there, I would love to see Cat run it back. I love the guy. He’s a local guy. He’s awesome. Awesome. He’s exactly the forwardfacing star you want to have for your franchise. But if you can get Giannis pair him with Brunson and not tear this team apart and the way to do that is to have Giannis basically say I want to go there forcing the Bucks hand. I don’t know how you do that if you’re the Knicks. You got to do something. You know, as currently constructed roster and coaching staff, you’re not good enough to win the East. So there is a move there. It’s a it’s a big move or it’s a small tweak. So but it’s one of the two. Well, I mean, but it’s also they don’t have to tear anything down. They’re very close like they have to. They just it’s just one maybe two players difference and and they can be right there. Right. because we’re talking about Oklahoma City is a team and the Pacers are a team and they play team basketball in a way that you know if you’re interested in in in well played well executed well coached team basketball then this finals is for you you know everybody calls that boring now you know well I mean there’s no you know like there were no superstar super team hookups here which you would think that people would appreciate this right we will see and we’ve got you two more days to talk about that. I’m just talking about the Knicks right now. If you feel that there has to has to be a major move, there’s only one of them. That’s it. It’s But that would require blowing up your entire roster except for Brunson. If Giannis says, “I want to go to New York.” And the thus the Bucks are forced to have their hand is forced. Maybe not. That’s why I’m It’s It’s a crazy ass proposal I’m putting out there. Yeah. But making a tweak here and there, I I would be fine as well because I love watching this team, man. Yeah. I love watching them. They’re one of my favorite Knicks teams to to have watched. Uh but damn it, that’s the headline. Damn it. It’s a good headline. It was right there. Oh, and then uh Saturday was a great sports day watching that as well as looking down at my phone. Oh, it’s 18-2, the Dodgers beating the Yankees as the Knicks get eliminated. That was an awesome Saturday. That was a great sports day. I made sure not to text you for those Yankee Nick fans out there, and there’s lots of us. That’s a shame. Thank you. Wow, that’s I appreciate that sports spike. I do because you know I’ll ball it up and spit it right back at you. I’m definitely not rooting for you guys. I know that. I’m aware of that. I’m aware of that. You’re a big You’re a big Pacer fan over there. You love Indiana. No, I don’t love them either. Okay, very good. Catch the Rich Eisen Show live weekdays from 12 to 3:00 p.m.

Here comes Jay Wright
Oh no. Every day until the finals are done, he's going to force every nba chat into answering "what are the chances Giannis goes to the Knicks??? What are the chances? Huh? Hmmmm? What do you think? Huh? Giannis to the Knicks? Let's ask Tom Pellisoro! Tom What are the chances the Knicks sign Shaduer? I mean Giannis? And Tom talking for 7 minutes without answering anything
Go get Mike Malone
It’s amazing to me. The Knicks haven’t been in the ECF since 2000, but the fans want to make wholesale changes. I understand adding and subtracting but wholesale changes are crazy. 20 + other teams would love that roster.
small but big moves..need a 6th man of the year candidate off the bench..need a deeper bench..need to develop Kolek next year…Thibbs needs to play the bench all year…9-10 man rotation
No more Brunson ball… it will only take you to this point. Gotta get a guy who makes everyone better like haliburton
My advice for Rich's New York Knicks: tell your fans to stop erupting & partying on the streets to celebrate winning a first round or conference semifinal series 😂 also stop jacking up MSG playoff ticket prices so more die-hard fans who are middle-class blue-collar regular folks ("not famous people") can get in
Nobody cares about the NBA anymore, thugs chucking it from downtown. Nice try Eisen.
Pacers were better team and more clutch
Rich Eisen is not and never was a NY Knicks fan and I'm tired of pretending that he is!
17 Turnovers. 28% from 3. 65% from the FT line.
None of that is Thibs.
Also @Rich, Celtics were down 2-1 and down 9 when Tatum got hurt. Stop letting Brockman's dumbass get in your head. Boston was losing.
The grapes are tasting really sour, over there in NY
There is a game within a game that is between the coaches. Thibodaux got outsmarted by Carlisle. A coach needs to make the best decisions and strategy possible to put his players in the right spot where they can win. Thibodaux great motivator but not a great tactician. That being said there aren't many great basketball minds out there for the Knicks to bring in, so the best thing is find a better roster for Brunson.
Knicks need depth AND they need another star – not a big three necessarily but someone who you can trust to consistently get you buckets – Anunoby and Bridges had their moments but were not consistent enough down the stretch – I think keeping Robinson as your 5 and KAT at the 4 is the way to go… losing someone like Hartenstein & DiVencenzo hurt so you need a bench that's going to win you ballgames and the Knicks don't have that right now. I love Brunson but you can't rely on him to get you 40 a night, especially in a 7 game series teams are going to hone in on weaknesses shoutout to Rick Carlisle for making the right adjustments
BRING IN MARK JACKSON PLEASEEEEEEEE.
They should’ve at least made it to game 7 but they blew the craziest lead I’ve ever seen in game 1.
There's always next year, go Knicks 🏀🤞 !
Towns has been this defensive player his entire career.
Front office and ownership saw $$$$$$$$$ and traded away the identity of the team
Love the Knicks but they were 10-8 in the playoffs and could of lost in the first round. No idea where they go from here.
Giannis to the Knicks … make it happen. Send kat and much more to Milwaukee
Honestly that game made me hate the Knicks. Anunoby, KAT, Brunson, and others were playing really dirty and just undisciplined. KAT had been undisciplined the entire series and on and off throughout the playoffs like always. KAT can't do it consistently and has always shown that even with the Wolves. Dirty and undisciplined just gross IMO
Thibs is not the answer guys I hate to break it to you. He’s just not. They need a younger offensive minded coach. Taylor Jenkins, Chris Quinn, and Royal Ivey would be a great option too. If you wanna stick with old and experienced than get a Mike Malone MAYBE even a Frank Vogel if you want to keep the identity of the team similar to Thibs, but if you can’t land either of them then it’s simply just time to move on from Thibs.
Can't wait 'til they hang up that Second Round Championship banner in MSG.
And that's right after the parade, that went down OG Anunoby Alley.
Clown franchise, clown fans.
Is Tibs the guy though? All 3 teams he's primarily coached have the same issue…. they run out of gas and break down at some point and he also gets figured out pretty easily. I like Tibs and hes a hell of a coach but I feel he gets out classed a bit in todays NBA
Game one killed them!
This league is about elite 3-point shooting and the Knicks do not have that. The pacers made 17 3 pointers in game 6, plus the Knicks do not pass the ball, it's the whole melo problem brunson and I love Brunson but the Knicks offense is very predictable… They got beat by the pacers cuz the pacers are a faster team and the Knicks could not keep up
Kicks will be back. Go Rockets 🚀. A1
U mad, U maaaaad.
5 first round picks for Mikal seems criminal at this point.
Rich didn’t like that video or Hali with those broads after the game 1 win. He just won’t say it. The rest of the sports fandom didn’t like knicks fans dumpin trash on the firefighter either….get bent rich. So long knickerbockers
Thibbs needs to have more faith in his #6-10 players. If he doesn't, he either needs to leave the organization or he needs to petition his GM to acquire different/better bench players.
Havnt Rich seen Thibs in th Bulls w/ DRose ?? He aint winning anything.
zion.
There’s a reason Jimmy Butler hated KAT in the Timbewolves.
The problem with NY fans is that they have an all-or-nothing attitude. Every single year at the beginning of baseball season they're on Facebook saying "Here comes championship #28!" and then by June they're crying their eyes out. Or, as in the case last year, they get the easiest path to the WS that any team has ever had but when they came up against an actual very good team in the Dodgers they couldn't believe what their heroes really are: a very flawed roster that needs a lot of luck to get anywhere, especially because they're saddled with a guy who's like a combination of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig during the regular season but always spends the postseason swinging at sliders that are a foot outside. Same with the Knicks. The fans blow their expectations sky-high and act devastated that their defensively-flawed team can't get it done. They actually had a great postseason and played to the best of their ability. They also seem to think that because Brunson gets 25-30 a night they should win but they don't see that against good teams his turnovers and lousy defense and dribbling too much make his offensive numbers a kind of wash.
Rick Brunson
Giannis for Kat 💪🏿💪🏿
Even Rich truly couldnt think of a reason that Tom should stay @4:38 the dude has won nothing in the playoffs and yet people claim he is great. You remember Phil, Kerr,
Da pacer’s cheating man
I felt bored today thanks a lot Indy stop pudding sweetened condensed milk 😡
Josh hart is an offensive reliability he can’t score for nothing when he’s needed. And OG is very inconsistent I would trade both of them and get a better bench and a starter
The Knicks will just bring back Divincenzo
He didnt talk to Nesmith like that.
My Knicks just need to tweak the role players and sign a legit spot up shooter and everyone will be happy
Hey LeBron come to NY!
New York needs to prepare for decades long professional sports championship drought. 2050.
So emotional lol. I was proud of my Knicks. It's been so long that we have been this good. My only gripe with Tibbs is how he doesn't play the bench and rookies. Tibbs finally played the bench but it was too late, but i think he realized he needs to play the bench. Now if he takes this going forward, we will be in great shape. This was year one of this team and they made it far. Keep the team together and they have an off-season to improve on their mistakes.
