Once again, Zion Williamson is in the news, and once again, it’s not good. Late last week, a woman going by the name of Jane Doe filed civil lawsuit accusing Williamson of rape along with emotional, physical, and financial abuse. The woman claims that her relationship began in 2018 during his college days at Duke and lasted until 2023. According to the suit, Zion raped her twice, once in September and again in October of 2020, both in LA. She also alleges he was controlling, broke into her apartment on multiple occasions, stole her belongings, and even threatened to kill her and her family if she spoke out. The woman going by Jane Doe is seeking anywhere between 18 and $50 million in damages. While Zion has faced allegations before, this is the first time he’s been accused of rape. On the court, Zion’s career has been up and down, but mostly down. Since entering the NBA in 2019, he’s never played a full season. He only appeared in 30 games last year and missed the rest of the season with a back injury. Over the years, the two-time all-star has missed time with knee, foot, and hamstring injuries. The Pelicans even added a weight clause when they extended him back in 2022. The team hasn’t commented yet on the situation. Zion has been a problem the last few years for the Pelicans and not a good problem. He’s been late to several practices along with missing team flights.
