This Is The PERFECT Outcome For The Chicago Bulls …

This is the perfect outcome for the Chicago Bulls. We’re going to be talking about the likelihood of them trading for Jonathan Kaminga and if it makes sense for the Chicago Bulls. This is your host Rico Greenhouse and you have found yourself on another episode of Bulls Digest. So before we jump into it, I first want to remind you that 70.1% of you that watch are not subscribed to the channel. So, like Modest Mazellis does in games, make sure that you slam dunk on that subscribe button for us as it means a lot to us here at Bulls Digest as we try to reach our end of the season subscriber going. So, with that being said, let’s go ahead and let’s jump into the content today. And so, we are talking about an article that was on Clutch Points and this was written by Brett Seagull and he is an NBA insider and a reporter and in this article he’s talking about what is going on with Golden State. They obviously are heading to the off season now, but one of the points in there is about Jonathan Kaminga. And so according to Brett Seagull, he is saying that the Chicago Bulls along with the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets are teams that would be interested in Jonathan Kaminga. And so, you know, I think that this is an interesting read just to see what is going on with the Golden State Warriors. And really, you just get a good sense of of maybe just the direction that the Golden State Warriors might be heading here uh with Jonathan Kaminga because it seems like according to Brett Seagull that even if they come to uh you know a conclusion with the contract this summer and they bring him back, it’s not a guarantee that he will be with the Golden State Warriors. In fact, you see that they might want to explore a trade with him uh at the next trade deadline, which I find interesting. And so, uh, just jumping into the point now of does it make sense for the Chicago Bulls to trade for Jonathan Kaminga? You know, is it a good fit or what not? And so, I think that this absolutely makes uh terrific sense for the Chicago Bulls. And I definitely think that this is something that they should explore. And so let’s start with uh just point number one why this would be a good deal for the Chicago Bulls to make and that is if Jonathan Kaminga does become available here because he is a restricted free agent which means that the Golden State Warriors essentially can match an offer for him and I think the likely scenario for him to move on from the Golden State Warriors would be a sign and trade because they don’t want to lose him for nothing and so you know with the fit with the Chicago Bulls the uh the youth I think is number one with him because uh at 22 years old he’s a young player that fits the Chicago Bulls timeline. AK has said this before that he wants to add players that are young that have some upside and have shown some success in this league and he really doesn’t want to go to a full rebuild. And so Jonathan Kaminga is certainly a player that fits the build here. And uh not only does he have youth on his side, but this is a guy that has championship experience because he won the NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2022 when he was a rookie there. He’s been around Steph Curry. He’s been around Draymond, you know, Steve Cerr. So, I mean, he’s been around, you know, championship players and coaches there. So, I think that that certainly would rub off here on the Chicago Bulls. And so I think the experience and the youth is something that you definitely want to trade for when it comes down to Jonathan Kaminga. Next, I think that one of the other reasons why you would want to go ahead and trade for Jonathan Kaminga is that essentially I think that he could replace just what you had with Patrick Williams and then some. I think that, you know, the bottom line here is that the Chicago Bulls would probably need to just go ahead and just say that look, that project did not work out and get a guy over here that can help you with your team and and really help you as you build your team out some more. And so, I think Jonathan Kaminga would definitely help you move on from that situation. And then next with Jonathan Kaminga, I think that just his playing style, uh just his ability to run up and down the floor, be athletic. I think that that is something that certainly fits with what the Chicago Bulls want to do. They want to play faster uh somewhat. That’s what Golden State does. They want to play fast. They want to get into a lot of uh player movement, ball movement. And so I think that Jonathan Kaminga really adds to that. and hopefully he gives you an even more uh you know just expansive kind of dimension to your offense. And I mean that in the sense that hopefully he can bring what he’s learned with the Golden State Warriors. And hopefully that rubs off I think on a lot of our players over here because I think that that’s something that they want to get better at as they evolve with this offense. And so I think that Jonathan Kaminga certainly helps you that way. I could see him catching lobs, filling the lane with Manis Bazllis. So, he makes a lot of sense there. And also, too, I think lastly, before we jump into the numbers, the long-term potential with Jonathan Kaminga, I’m willing to bet on his potential uh with the Chicago Bulls. I think that definitely a change in scenery would be good for Jonathan Kaminga. And at this point with where the Chicago Bulls are at and the players that he would be playing with, I think that there is a good chance that he could get to his potential with the Chicago Bulls based off the system that they’re playing and everything else. And so I like that. And so because of that, I definitely feel that that is the reasons why he would be a terrific fit here for the Chicago Bulls. And so next, let’s go ahead and look at the numbers and just look at the things that we would probably be concerned about, uh, you know, if he is coming over here. here and some things that would certainly I think have to change with Jonathan Kaminga. So when you look at the scoring I definitely love that about Jonathan Kaminga. He can definitely get you a bucket and I think that given get or putting him into a different situation where he’s kind of uh it gets to a place where he can open it up a little bit more. You probably get a little bit more of that. So 15.3 points a game. Uh 4.6 rebounds a game, 2.2 assist, point4 with the blocks.8 8 in steals, only 66.8 from the free throw line, uh 30.5 from downtown, and uh also two shot 45.4 from the field. And uh this is the first time that he’s been under 50%. And so let’s start there. And so first time under 50%. Um, you know, I think that that is a little you get a little worried about that. But again, given the situation that was going on with Golden State, I think that look, you put him into this situation with the Chicago Bulls. I think that that’s something where you obviously want to see the consistency. I think that that comes down to giving him a defined role with the Chicago Bulls, which I think he would get that. Uh, especially if you’re moving on from Patrick Williams, I could see him being a guy that they could depend on. So, I could see the field goal percentage become a bit more consistent with him, especially with the role and the playing time. Next, I think another thing that you would have to be concerned about with Jonathan Kaminga, and he’s certainly going to have to get better at this. 33.2% is his careerhigh from downtown. 30.5% from three this season. And Jonathan Kaminga would have to get better at that because the offense is geared towards that. And I’m not saying that he necessarily just has to stand out there and shoot three-pointers. I’m not saying that at all. I’m not saying that you just are putting him into a spot up situation or like, hey, he has to come down on the transition and he has to shoot the three-point shot. But there are going to be teams that obviously picked that up in the scouting report and not they’re obvious, not just probably, but they are going to pick that up. And so, you know, that they know that that’s the tendency with Jonathan Kaming is that he struggles from downtown. And so Jonathan Kaminga is going to have to make teams pay. When they give him the space and and just the way that this offense is geared, he’s going to get a lot of those looks. And so he has to make defenses pay. And so you’re hoping that look, that’s part of the upside here with Jonathan Kaminga that he turns into a little bit better shooter from downtown. I certainly think he’s going to need that. Next, I think another area of concern for me is the free throw shooting. So at 66.8 eight from the free throw line. Like Jonathan Kaminga is probably going to be in spots where he’s going to get to the free throw line a lot more with the Chicago Bulls because, you know, coming down in transition and then also to being a slasher, you’re going to get fouled. I mean, it’s just going to happen. And so, we don’t need a situation where Jonathan Kaminga is just basically it’s a hack of Jonathan Kaminga because then that’s a tough situation for the team. And so, he’s got to get better at that. That comes down to focus. And then lastly, the numbers as far as the rebounds and then also to the uh the blocks and steals. Like he’s got to get a lot better there in my personal opinion. I think he’s got to definitely rebound a lot better than the 4.6 rebounds given the minutes that he would probably get coming over with the Chicago Bulls. And so you would hope that that’s going to go up. And then with the steals and the blocks, his athleticism, I think that he could be a lot better defensively and he would have to be coming over to the Chicago Bulls depending on what they’re going to do uh in free agency and via the draft. And so they would definitely depend on Jonathan Kaminga, I think, a lot more defensively. And so he’s going to have to show up in those regards. And then lastly, I don’t think you necessarily worry about this, but I think that just as Chicago Bulls fans, we worry about this with the injury history. And so 47 games played, uh, that’s something where you get a concern. I mean, this is like the lowest that he’s played in his career. And so you hope that that’s not something that’s going to be a constant moving forward, especially when you’re in a sign and trade situation because remember, you know, with that signing trade, you’re going to give him the money and you’re putting him down for some years there. So I mean, you’re definitely going ahead and you’re committing to him. And so speaking of the numbers with Jonathan Kaminga, look, you’re looking at a player that from what I’m seeing around 25 to 30 million is what is expected here uh for him. He is a restricted free agent. I want to go ahead and stress that again that the Golden State Warriors have all the control here. And it just sounds like, you know, from what happened this last season and him played out of the rotation or whatnot or just not being in the rotation, whatever that looks like, uh it looks like that they would want to move on from him. And it seems like that they want to maximize the opportunity that they have with Steph Curry, you know, with Draymond, with Jimmy Butler, whatnot. And so, I mean, I guess if Golden State is going to go ahead and give up some of their youth, again, I think the Chicago Bulls should be all about this. And I must say that the Chicago Bulls have some pieces that would be uh interesting and I think they’re pieces that the Golden State Warriors would want. And so let’s start with, you know, just the trade pieces and what that would look like. And so number one, you know, with Patrick Williams, I’m not going to say that he’s a guy that the Golden State Warriors would want now, uh, especially with the season that he had. And the only reason that I put him up there is because, you know, there was the report, I believe, with Jake L. Fiser earlier in the year saying that the Chicago Bulls were more likely than ever to explore a trade. And I think that the Golden State Warriors were linked here to Patrick Williams. And so, uh, because of that, you wonder, do the Golden State Warriors still have some interest out there? And like I said before, if you’re getting Jonathan Kaminga, I think for the likelihood, you would want to move on from Patrick Williams and just say, look, it it just didn’t work. Let’s see if we can move him to the next destination. But I don’t think that the Golden State Warriors would necessarily want him. I’m not sure that there’s really any other team right now that would want him because the value is just so low at this point in time. And so I would throw that out there. You know, from a money standpoint, Patrick Williams. I think that that’s something that can help you get it done. Next up, the next player that I think certainly would have to be uh maybe on that list for the Golden State Warriors would be uh Kobe White. And I say that because maybe the Golden State Warriors are looking to add some youth back. And I think that that’s an interesting situation when you look at Kobe White. Obviously, he’s not got a whole bunch of salary right now, but he is going to command, I think, a much bigger salary once he goes ahead and decides to go to uh, you know, free agency. That’s if he decides not to go with the extension, which I think would be wise for him because he’s clearly outplayed that situation. And so, uh, maybe that’s something that the Golden State Warriors would be interested in in a signing trade is with Kobe White. Would they want to go ahead get a guy over there that can knock down shots, open up the floor that way? Uh, obviously, we know defensively, you know, what he does as far as playing the passing lanes, not the best individual defender. And so, would that be something that they would want to pair alongside of uh, Steph and then with Jimmy and those guys like that? Possibly. I think that that’s something that he could maybe be in there. You know, who knows? Maybe IO is a guy that they’re looking at. Not sure there, but those are just some names. Maybe if they’re looking at the youth movement, what Golden State would like. Then next, you know, another player that I’m pretty sure that the Golden State Warriors would still have some interest in here is going to be Vu. I think that look, there’s no big secret that the Golden State Warriors were interested in Vouch. It didn’t happen. And maybe now it’s the time to happen because this is an expiring deal, you know, at $21 million. And I mean, look, it seems like that they are going a little bit more allin with what they have left here with Steph Curry and these guys like that. And so Vu is not going to give you a ton defensively, but he is a walking double double. He’s going to stretch the floor. And could they have used Vu in this last series that they were in? Sure. And I mean, yes, they still probably would have been in a tough situation without Steph Curry, but make no mistake about it, I think that it definitely helps them, especially if they’re going against, you know, a team like the Rockets like they did there in that first round. They needed help rebounding. And so Vu definitely can do that. Now, defensively, it’s going to be a challenge. That’s something where they’d have to piece it together, but I think that Vu would have to be a guy that would be included into the signing trade if they’re interested. And then next, lastly, I think a player that h, you know, maybe is I think overlooked that the Golden State Warriors might have some interest in uh would be I think Lonzo Ball. I think that Lonzo to me, he could be a fit that the Golden State Warriors want as well. And I think of Shawn Livingston, and I’ve said this several times before, and Steph has played with Shawn Livingston. Draymond’s played with uh with Shawn Livingston, and so has Steve Curran. So they know how valuable it is to have, you know, a guard that can come in, play the wing position, can play, you know, anywhere from one to three for you at times, have that basketball IQ, and sometimes you need him to fill in for a start, and then sometimes you just need them to have, you know, a g a good game or two in a playoff series to get you out of that series. And so, look, if you can get Lonzo to a playoff situation healthy, I think that he could definitely play a Shawn Livingston type of role for you. And so, look, here’s the thing that you could possibly do in a signing trade. Uh, you guys let me know what you’re thinking here. Do you feel like that uh Lonzo Ball could be a guy that could be on a move in the signing trade? Uh, do you feel like that Kobe White would be a guy that the the Golden State Warriors would be interested in? Uh, do you feel like Vu for sure is back on the table for the Golden State Warriors as far as being interested there? And then, you know, with Patrick Williams, look, the value is down. And I’m just, like I said before, I don’t think that that’s happening with Patrick Williams. I think it’s hard to move Patrick Williams. I couldn’t see that with Golden State, but maybe they feel like that they could utilize uh, you know, him over there. Maybe they can unlock him as a shooter defensively too as well. Maybe they can find it over there. I’m not sure, but I would think that he would have to maybe be in the consideration as well with the salary that he makes here. But anyway, you guys let me know in the comments here. Do the Chicago Bulls make this trade here uh in the off season for Jonathan Kaminga if he’s available? Once again, that’s if he’s available. Speculation is that the Chicago Bulls would be interested in him along with the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat. And one more thing to throw out there as well is that Brett Seagull did say that the Brooklyn Nets are the ones that have the financial uh he you know the financials to definitely make a serious run at Jonathan Kaminga, which is something that we obviously already knew that the Brooklyn Nets have that type of money. And so we’ll see what happens here. Let me know in the comments what you guys are thinking. And look, as we always say, go Bulls. And I will see you guys on the next one. Art piece.

  1. Sports Illustrated (Grant Mona) just published an article, dealing with three realistic trade scenarios for Kuminga. The Bulls are not mentioned in the piece. According to Shams Charania, the team (Warriors) is looking to add a "playmaking wing, defender, or center". The Wizards/Nets have the cap space and trade capital to acquire Kuminga. Phoenix and Sacramento are the other teams mentioned in the scenario. The Suns might rid themselves of Durant and send him back to Golden State. The Warriors might send out Brandin Podziemski also.

  2. Jimmy Butler is a realist. In dis stage of his career we know & he knows he's Robin. He came to Golden State cause he knew he could be dat guy for Curry. A healthy Currys ability to space the floor & create shoots for team mates favored Butlers game immensely. Especially wit his ability to back cut. But without Curry they never had a chance. Butler knew dat. The best from Butler @ dis point in his career is 23
to 27pts for the playoffs wit him as da #1 option & he knew dat wasn't gone be enough. He saw da writing on da wall 🧱. Him & Dramond knew they weren't good enough without Steph. They knew Steph wasn't gone be back. So he wasn't gone kill himself for nothing so he just went through
da motions. Adding another dependable scorer will help immensely
