The trade you propose makes absolutely no sense for SA, except in the very short term. Brown at 28 is too injury prone with questionable knees which will likely lead sooner than later to his loss of explosiveness which is what makes him special. Without that explosiveness, his value quickly declines. While a great defender, on offense he plays too much iso ball and is not a great team playmaker. Also, his ridiculous contract limits a team's ability to have strong group of valuable support players. The #2 pick is much more valuable being younger with higher upside potential who with the right pick can grow into whatever role is needed to play with Wemby. The more friendly rookie contract also gives the team much more roster building flexibility.

Brown is a cornerstone of the franchise along with Tatum. Everyone else is tradeable. Brown was drafted and developed by us and he’s a top 20 player in our league. I’m not trading him for an unproven rookie or Castle. Build and develop with trades to surround our 2 stars. Porzingis & Holiday didn’t show up to repeat so it’s time to move them for picks and young veteran role players with upside and potential that’s about winning.
