Here we go again. Going after stars rather than fit. KAT did well. I don't see him as a liability.
Look at OKC, Nuggets, Cavs, Boston. All these teams developed thier players into star.
I’m hiring Mike Malone and having him work his magic with this squad for the next couple seasons. By that point, I’m expecting Denver to have declined to the point that Joker wants to exercise his player option. Joker and Malone can then have their reunion in the Big Apple and the crumbling Nugs will be willing to take KAT for Joker.

Makes sense for both squads. Knicks get out from under that long term KAT contract and are better next year for sure (barring injury).
The ONLY all star player or all nba player the Knicks should even contemplate trying to go after is Giannis. That's it. Trading KAT for KD would absolutely be a move the Knicks of Old would make, and it'd be a massive blunder.
KAT as part of a package to get Giannis? Absolutely. The only way it works though given the Knicks situation financially and in terms of assets.. is that if Giannis wants to play in NY and he forces his way there. That doesn't seem all that likely but it's not implausible. Giannis wants to win another ring, best place to do that right now is in the East with the way it currently is. Knicks are still in a prime position to contend to make the finals, NY is a big market, big spotlight, best arena in the NBA to play basketball. So it's not like there wouldn't be some motivating factors that make it look appealing. Still don't think it'll happen though.

the only argument for getting KD is you get off that massive contract which the longer it goes on your squad the more untradeable it becomes. Also if you traded kat for Giannis you’d need to add a bunch more either MIkal or Og plus a slew of picks. the KD addition looks better after he’s gone cause you’ve got more flexibility then you would if you kept KAT. But something tells me this front office got KAT after having a massive want for him since he’s come into the league so the money to them is a victim of circumstance. That being said i could be 1000% wrong and KAT for KD straight up could be great for the team what do i know? i just play 2k and have never even coached a kids basketball team. I do think however if you wanted to trade KAT it’s a tougher thing to do the more years you stick with him cause the contract only burries you deeper the longer you keep it.
NO TRADE FOR KD!
KAT was supposed to be that guy this year. Minny knew what they were doing because KAT is a good player but he isn't worth 60mil. His contract makes it tough to build a championship team around. Too much of a defensive liability, commits silly fouls and too often disappears on offense. And he will want 75 (and get it from someone) on his extension. There are too many issues with paying him as the centerpiece of a championship team.

I like KD but that ship sailed, and with KAT, the honest truth, they aren’t much different on the offensive…. KD might be slightly better but defensively they are the same… i think they will go with an offensive coach and get another piece but I don’t see the trade happening for Giannis also…
