Could the Spurs Land Herb Jones? | The Ideal Trade Fit

yo y’all gonna stop coming in my live talking about this Victor dude bro we hooping this here y’all going to [Music] see all right team today I have some very interesting and exciting news to share with y’all as y’all can see on the screen shout out to Yahoo Sports and Kevin O’Connor for bringing this post to X and it says “There are no untouchables on the New Orleans Pelicans.” According to Kevin O’Connor the Pelicans are reportedly gauging the market for everyone on their roster now looking at this graphic some might see Trey Murphy and say that’s who we’re going to be talking about today and although I think he will be a great fit on on the Spurs in almost any team but that’s not who we’re going to be talking about today who we will be talking about today is a alldefensive caliber player in Herb Jones now I’ve seen some of y’all mention him in the comments section and I definitely agree with y’all i think adding Herb Jones to this core would do wonders for the group the Spurs would be finding that 3 and D wing that we have been looking for desperately and he will be doing it at a high level and on a cheap contract so with that being said let’s go ahead and jump straight into it so Herb Jones he last season he averaged 10.3 points 3.9 rebounds 3.3 assists on 43% from the field but he only played 20 games and so some might see the 30% from three and I think he just had a down season he could never really get any footing playing 20 games only a quarter of the season and he was out with injury as y’all know the Pelicans season was just injury riddled in general and so I’m not really worried about this percentage right here what I really want to look at is this 41% this is what the Spurs will be trading for along with his alldefensive caliber play on the defensive end he wouldn’t be taking touches away from Fox and Wambi he would spot up and play great defense he’s also 67 but I think he plays bigger than what he is so he will help with size and shooting and those are two of the Spurs biggest holes on the team right now so although his box score numbers won’t jump out at you that’s not taking into account what he does on the other end of the floor if I was the Spurs I would definitely take a look at this i would give them a pretty good package for Herb Jones so hopefully Brian Wright could work his magic and and secure Herb Jones on this team i would be so hyped and I think just adding a wing like this could really take the Spurs to the next level specifically on the defensive end I think if the Spurs could secure Herb Jones I think their defense would almost be at like a OKC level maybe even better you have the best rim protector the best defensive anchor in the league in WBY Steph Castle who could also be a point of attack defender Herb Jones Jeremy Sohan so overall the team would just cause havoc but this isn’t the only reason that he is valuable another thing that adds to his value and the Spurs might have to pay a little bit more of a higher price is because his contract taking a look at this he is on contract for two more years in 2526 and 2627 and he is only making 13 or$14 million in all defensive talent for only $13 million is definitely something I think the Spurs will take a look at the Spurs love their wings who can play defense and shoot the three ball and I think Herb Jones fits into that mold this contract in today’s league is almost nothing there are rookies that come into the league making this type of money and so for Herb Jones to be proven and showed what he can do on the defensive end I think this is a no-brainer you got to make that call for Herb Jones and see what they’re asking for and Brian Wright is pretty good at making trades and so if the Pelicans want to blow it up this would be the height of Herb Jones’s value as a player and so if they want to make the most of that and kind of go into a rebuild mode I think the Spurs can give them some picks that will help them and maybe even a solid player that they can flip into more first round picks or if they want to keep him for the tank but let me know what y’all guys think do y’all think Herb Jones is a good fit and what we’re going to do next is I’m going to show y’all a trade package that I think would be a good trade for Herb Jones it’s mostly what I think I would be comfortable with giving up for a player like this but again leave y’all’s trade packages down below in the comments section i would like to see what y’all have to say but this is my package right here and and I know some people wouldn’t want to ship Kelton off but trust me if you’re getting Herb Jones you send Kellen Johnson in a heartbeat so this is the package I cooked up and some may say it doesn’t look like much and some might say it’s too much but I think this is just right so starting off with this pick number 14 this is a guaranteed lottery pick when teams trade for picks you never know where they’re going to convey you’re kind of taking a chance but with this right here you’re getting a solidified lottery pick even though it is late lottery I think you could draft a pretty good player in this draft class that will be a part of the team for your future and your rebuild this second round pick it’s 38 it’s It’s like a very very late first round pick if you think about it this is only eight picks out of the first round so however you want to take that I think this pick is still pretty valuable if you ask me even though it is a second round pick I mean Herb Jones was taken with pick number 35 so you can definitely get a good player with that and then this is Boston swap rights so you would have the rights to take Boston’s pick in 2028 and you don’t know where they’re going as a team obviously they’re going to have Tatum probably Jaylen Brown so I’m pretty sure this would be on the later side of the first round if you want to swap that you know what maybe you could even throw in this one cuz I don’t know how valuable the Boston one would be i wouldn’t give up both of these in this trade but if they’re asking for the Kings swap rights instead of Boston’s I would definitely give it to him i think that would be a little bit more valuable maybe even a lot this could be a very high draft pick so I think the Pelicans would actually like and prefer this pick over Boston so I would give it to him but two first rounders for a role player that’s very hard to deny i don’t think you’d give up three first rounders given that this is eight picks out of the first round so I think this would be a pretty fair deal on top of the fact that you can trade Kell Johnson and you could flip him for maybe another first round pick or maybe even two depending on who you’re trading with he’s a very solid player say what you want about Kell Johnson but he has six man of the year potential and so some may say this is an overpay but I don’t think so i think this is perfect for a player of Herb Jones’s caliber and I think it is a package that the Pelicans would have to take a look at you don’t know how long Herb Jones’ value will stay this high i think right now it’s probably at its peak and so they could benefit with selling him high and the Spurs could benefit by getting a great 3 and D player who could fit and grow with this core he’s only 26 years old i think he’s around the same age as Kell but there’s no doubt in my mind that he would be the better fit so let me know what y’all guys think about this package y’all leave y’alls down below in the comments section is it too much is it not this is just a package I cooked up right now and I think I would be cool with this but who knows maybe Brian Wright could work his magic and and get him for cheaper who knows you saw what he got De’Aran Fox for and
