Knicks Fan Rich Eisen Reacts to the Haliburton & Pacers Reaching NBA Finals | The Rich Eisen Show

listen we we all know uh the Pacers made the NBA Finals won the Eastern Conference and I want to give them their due first up this is uh why you watch basketball a team like this because they’re a team they’re a team they’ve got a a terrific player who for some reason was voted uh most overrated by his peers in an athletic poll and Tyresese Hallebertton okay you see you see uh you see overrated i see a guy um who can play his position better than most that’s for damn sure and then this is a team that you know has had Miles turnaround for a very long time and then they just added pieces pascal Seakum’s a hell of a piece seakum he’s going for his second ring you know he got one in Toronto now he’s going to try and do one in the uh in the United States of America um Nemhart Nith TJ McConnell Obie Toppenhen um just to name a few just to name a few on this team that they just keep running out at you they keep running out i knew it was over when Thomas Bryant made a three-pointer you know what I mean like that that’s when I knew it was all over okay like all right if he’s if he’s throwing in threes then then this thing is toast rep but what they do is play at such a remarkable pace the Pacers are setting the pace they’re always looking to go fast and the number of times that the Knicks would score and either make it a onepossession game or a two-possession game or make their lead a two-possession game or they made their lead a two- possession game into a three-possession game the Pacers would inbound the ball so damn fast and they’d have numbers in the front court while the Knicks are still you know picking themselves up off the floor because the way that they would score is they’re trying to just bullrush their way to the hoop then they’d score and then they’d be on the floor and then suddenly okay it’s threeon two break twoon-one break and they’d score and suddenly it would be a two possession lead again or a two-on-one possession you get my point they’re just relentless man they’re relentless and I say kudos to them and um you know Tyrese Hallebertton we were talking about his performance and a lot of people now are talking about his his curb enthusiasm type reaction to not being named the MVP of the conference finals it was Seakkum instead that was whatever talking about his dad talking about the Halib Baltans the the the whole business he’s just a fascinating figure in every way shape or form and you know it when he’s he’s not your guy I’ll be telling you it’s just you know but I I’ll I’ll get to the Knicks perspective in a second he’s a wrestling fan so I got love for I got you and by the way and you know I’ll put a pin in that point for a second i’m trying to be a professional here and talk about a team that won the conference that was dominated by Cleveland all season long with all due respect to the defending world champs we were all thinking the Celtics were just lying in weight anyway they’ll get healthy at the right time and instead it went the exact opposite way and then it was the Knicks who had homecourt advantage and the Knicks were supposed to be better than the Pacers because they added all of these pieces and the Pacers are the ones who ran it back and who’s the team that’s representing the Eastern Conference in the finals the Indiana Pacers who as we all know have a terrific coach in Rick Carlo superb coach in Rick Carlo who comes from Dallas and Mark Cuban was saying it on a podcast earlier this week they try to trade Jaylen Brunson to pop over the Kings to draft Tyrese Hallebertton in the draft and couldn’t do it and then eventually traded for him and now look who’s going to lead the Pacers to the finals this is a franchise that took a chance on me um saw something that other people didn’t see in me um you know sometimes I think they saw more of me than I saw in myself you know and um you know Coach Carile um the whole staff you know KP Chad all those guys just stay on me all the time you know to keep getting better to keep improving um you know to keep pushing and uh man I wouldn’t be here without those guys so appreciate them taking a chance on me i love being a Pacer you know it’s uh there’s nothing like it and uh this is a really really special feeling for me um and uh you know I I’ll take the time to reflect on it you know later cuz uh you know I still a lot more work to do but you know this is really exciting congratulations to the Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers and now they’re going to be taking on Oklahoma City a matchup we’ll talk about with Mike Breen later on my first blush thoughts are the Pacers are going to have to do what they did against the Knicks plus plus against Oklahoma City who can run people off the bench as well who can run you out of the building if they so choose defensively there’s terrific as a team won their conference as I’ve seen in in some time anyway so and it’s also the matchup between two teams that lead their the league and lead their conference in having their fans all wear the same colored shirts so I’ll just say this just take Jimmy Goldstein out of the mix here right jimmy Goldstein will be at the game so whatever take him out of the mix i will just say this this is my first blush NBA Finals preview anybody in Oklahoma City or anybody in Indiana who does not wear the shirts that are given to them to wear you’re going to stick out like a sore thumb and I’ll tell you this it’s going to be a contest who’s not wearing the shirts don’t be that person okay cuz I’m going to be watching and we’re going to see who’s going to let the team down by not wearing their shirts because the other team’s going to it’s good analysis thank you yeah yeah yeah i mean then there’s you know stuff like transition defense sure sure catch the Rich Eisen Show live weekdays from 12 to 3:00 p.m

  1. the pacers match up perfectly against OKC, they run out every possession they can off the rebound or inbound and make it hard for the defense to get set and play the way they want to, and they do so while playing hyper efficient basketball and hardly turning it over, which is where a quarter of OKC’s offense is generated. They have played 10 guys every night, all coming their roles perfectly and without ego, and they have been super effective on defense as they have been in lock step with one another no matter who is on the court. They have a generational talent running the offense, who is always arguably done more in the post season than CP3 ever has in his second ever play off run, a number 2 who has already been the #2 on a playoff team and is elite on defense and torches teams on offense while never getting a single play ran for him and hardly ever needing the ball in his hands. The pacers have 3 point guards who are all incredibly effective passers and orchestrators, have a handful of wings who are terrific point if attack ball stoppers, and two bigs who play great around the rim with one who can literally float inside and out and shut down 1-5 in pascal.

  2. Bowen Byram has had 3 concussions in his career and it caused him to miss his years with the Avs so they gave up on him. I don’t think the Sharks are in a space to take a risk on a concussion riddled defender especially if we need him to be our Enforcer. Rasmus Andersson is the best bet out of the 3. But I doubt he would want to join us. The Flames were like 2 games from the playoffs.

  3. In the NFL, Josh Allen was voted most overrated, then went on to carry his team to the AFCCG with only 1 other All Pro (his tackle) & no Pro Bowlers on his roster and win MVP.

In the NBA, Halliburton is voted most overrated player, goes on to lead his team to the NBA Finals, and continues upsetting teams favored to beat them. Now he could win it all, in the same year he was voted most overrated.

Can't wait to see who MLB votes as most overrated next 😂

  4. As a spurs fans it’s honestly pretty refreshing to see two young teams representing cities that will both have a chance for the first time to win it all

  5. I can’t speak on Thomas Bryant’s career before the Pacers, he always played for teams I didn’t see much of in Naptown, like when he won a championship as Joker’s backup in Denver. Denver games don’t get on TV a lot in Naptown. What I can speak on is from the very first game he played for the Pacers this season(he was signed mid season after season ending injuries to the back up C and PF) they used him to hit those kind of 3s. Especially the corner 3. So to someone who watched all the Pacer games what he did in game 6 wasn’t a surprise. Not at all.

  6. Having been to the playoffs games in Indy myself I can tell you the shirts they provide are made from dogshit materials they are rough thin and shitty.

  7. I went to game 3 of the Pacers VS Cavs, the Jumbotron guy was finding people not wearing the yellow shirt that was on our chairs and shaming them on the mic until they put it on. It was fantastic.

  8. As a Knicks fan I'm rooting for the Pacers. When the NBA 'peers' voted Halli most overrated it destroyed our hopes of a championship.

  9. Pacers beat the hospital Knicks last season, everyone thought it was a fluke. NY added a bunch of studs…who were completely healthy. The Pacers add…Johnny Furphy (who never played – but his mullet is lucky) and beat the Knicks even worse (6 games instead of 7)…it's almost like continuity and hard work pay off on a basketball team…who would have thought?

  10. Rich taking a sly shot at the T shirt gimmicks of small market Indy/OKC is beyond petty and just might highlight the blatant bias of sports media concerning this Pacers/Knicks series (or should I say. Hey Rich, can we discuss the origins of the Knicks incredibly clever and original catchphrase that's sweeping the nation? No, no – not "bingbong" (which is actually a much better and memorable phrase), it's "Knicks. In. 4!" … "5!"… "6!"… "7!"… … … "9?"

Rich seems like a guy whose high fives other dudes for dropping that eviscerating truth bomb to the masses. Except that the truth bomb is top tier sports cringe. If you live within a mile of a Knicks fan, anywhere in the world, you have felt that cringe. A wordsmith Knicks fan such as Rich is the only kinda guy who can redirect the NYK fans into something/anything else. Pacers fans were chanting "Knicks in 9" in the Fieldhouse Saturday night, but the original phrase was so overcooked that the comeback made me cringe. Not to mention the phrase is fueled by more than a few beers, stupid amounts of entitled arrogance, and enough incorrectly used/redundant obscenities to make Rickers Island look soft.

Knicks fans want to stop, but they're also using it as a coping/defense mechanism (i.e. Hardy Harr just having fun by being goofy.)

If you want to make fun of the little gimmicky things Pacers/OKC do, I'm fine with it. But when media members with New York/ESPN ties take those shots without addressing this embarrassing, and honestly a lot more interesting of a story. It's just cheesy. I get you can be a fan, and SA Smith can be a fan, and so on, but eventually your bias will lead to either missing the real stories, diving to deep/shallow when it fits your personal preferences, or simply crafting your own narrative. Let's be real, Pacers can't even get away with a T-shirt gimmick. Hey, at least I got a T shirt commemorating the day the '25 Knicks died. Get ready to hear "Knicks in 9" in Indy until they beat us in playoff series.

  11. I've been at a Pacers playoff game (Game 3 against the Bucks last year) and they will put you on the jumbotron screen and berate you until you change into the shirt. I never felt bad for those people.

  12. That Knicks squad, with the proper Coach, is gonna be a F'n Problem for all in the East. The pieces are there. The Coach is the focal point. No one is giving the Pacers a prayer in the Finals, but personally, The Edge in Coaching goes to Indiana and I believe, the youth of the Thunder may cost them the series. Alexander is gonna get his, forget that one. But, I think the Pacers take it in 6

  13. Rich Eisen, the first person in national sports media to talk about everything the Pacers did great to win a playoff series. And he's a KNICKS FAN doing that? My God, I tip my hat to you Rich. You had my respect before, but you just earned so much more now.

  14. As a Knicks fan I argued in the barbershop that Haliburton was a way better point guard than Brunson. Unfortunately my point was proven correct.

  15. The reason why we wear matching shirts is because we are real fans of our teams, not pretentious celebs that show up courtside to get our pictures taken. And you are correct, the Pacers fans in OKC celebrating in game 1 stuck out and we are all happier for it.
