LSU vs West Virginia Super Regional Preview | 2025 NCAA Baseball Showdown Analysis & Predictions

hey what’s going on man goose Sports here got a video for you as we got a preview west Virginia and LSU super regionals start this weekend Saturday at 1:00 local time in Baton Rouge it’ll be uh 2:00 on the east coast but LSU and West Virginia will get will go at it as West Virginia they are uh they’re uh they won the Big 12 regular season championship as they were 19 19-9 in the conference in the Big 12 and the overall record of 44 and 14 and they just got done winning the Clemson regional as they beat Kentucky 4 to3 in game one beat Clemson 96 in game two and then they beat Kentucky for the championship uh 13-2 so they swept through the regional as they did not lose the game in that Clemson regional so they’ll go face LSU so we’ll go over their stats a little bit as uh as they don’t really hit the home run ball as much uh as some as some teams as a leading the leading home run guy there’s uh Kyle West with 10 homers you got Reinhardt with eight Suave with eight Hussy with seven uh Sam White with four Barnett with four then you got some of the guys with threes and threes and twos for the most part you know they for the most part they just don’t hit many home runs but obviously they obviously they won a lot of baseball games obviously they do little thing little things well and obviously they uh I mean they have to pitch well too all right so we got uh Reinhardt has a leading RBI get 51 white has 44 crestler has 41 west has 36 suave with 36 hy with 35 kelly with 35 then you got got King with 30 so know so say they they have some guys that can uh you know get some runs on the board via hits and RBI’s so we’ll see uh we’ll see what goes on here as the leading uh we’ll go over their uh batting average let’s see make sure I got uh I like I like look at the bats and then cuz sometimes if you got like if you only batted all 20 only had 20 bats you batting 400 well it’s kind of not really you’re not really going to play that much but all right so Sam White leads a team with a 350 352 batting average uh Kyle West batting 347 guzman bats 337 reinhardt bats 316 uh we got Swain batting 313 and then you got King batting 298 ellie batting 294 uh Suave batting 289 ker batting 287 barnett batting 278 and then Hussy batting 275 so the most part that’s that’s that’s predominantly the most play that’s that’s the guys that get the most playing time and the most at bats so they have they got like one two three four five six guys batting above 300 and you got one guy about right right there batting 298 for the uh four the West Virginia Mountaineers all right we’ll go to the pitching real quick as uh the led the the the the guy that has the most wins is Chase Meyer with nine and two but he’s only made three starts uh all season long so he gets a lot of wins in relief obviously uh he does have one save leading save getter is Chase I’m sorry Ree Bassinger with five saves also Carson Etr has five saves but uh let’s see we got uh you look at the starters here let’s look let’s look at the uh game starters i want to look at the the games that the guys that start the most games and what their win loss record is so Griffin Kern has made 16 starts he’s 5-2 uh Gavin Van Kempen he’s made 13 starts he’s 2-0 and Carstonus is six and three with eight starts aen has seven starts he’s 2 and 0 and then for the most part that looks like that’s the guys that are going to be there predominantly pitching i think we’re going to see Griffin Kern in game one and probably uh I’m going say I’m going to say we’re going to see Carson Stonus in game number two for West Virginia that’s what I’m that’s what I’m going to predict for this uh for this uh super regional coming up but uh this should be a very entertaining regional as we’ll go over uh some LSU stats as well as let me get to the back to the screen here and pull up uh LSU stats as might as well if I’m going to preview it you got to pre-boot all all right so LSU was this season was 11 and I’m sorry 19-11 in the SEC overall record of 46 and 15 as they uh they in the in the uh regional Baton Rouge regional they beat Little Rock then they beat Dallas Baptist then they lost to Little Rock and they beat them in game seven against a series that went to uh the final game as Little Rock gave LSU all they can handle in those last two games winning one of them and uh they you know luckily for LSU they’re able to pull out the uh win that game seven because uh it was really close in the ninth inning till Jerry Jones hit that home run for LSU that really put them over the top but uh yeah just really really tough series all right so the lead home run getter for LSU is Jerry Jones he has 20 ethan Fry has 13 dickinson has 12 mil has 10 hernandez has nine he hit two home runs uh in that game against Little Rock then you have Jake Brown with seven with six Pearson with six Aaron Bey with four Reeves with three and Brazwell with two and uh see we got Pearson john Pearson with two Larson with two and then Chris Danfield did get a homer uh did get a homer in that regional at regionals against uh was it Dallas can’t remember but uh might have been Little Rock maybe but maybe that first game but uh can’t really offand I can’t really remember but Stanfield did get his first homer of the season lsu is led by Jerry Jones with 69 RBI’s fry has 49 dickinson has 48 uh Milm has 47 Purio has 47 Jake Brown has 40 Hernandez Hernandez has 30 Josh Pearson has 28 Stanford has 24 Bradwell has 17 and Army has 14 Reeves has 12 and Larson is 11 guys that are in double figures in batting in RBI excuse me all right so batting average they’re led by actually Ethan Fry leads the team with a 359 batting average has three batting 341 uh Jared Jones batting 323 dickson batting 318 jake Brown 313 stanfield batting 306 uh see John I’m sorry it’s Josh Pearson 295 mil batting 285 and Hernandez batting 276 and let’s see Tanner Ree tam Reed plays Tanner Reed i I’ll include the stats he does play some he plays well he plays more than uh other guys off the bench she’s batting 274 so and Larson about batting two 256 so uh Larson does get some does get some pinch hits in the game so so does Tanner Reed and Tann does come late in the games he comes and plays defense so I think LSU has enough offense to win to win this series but they’re going to have to there so the situational hitting is going to have to uh you know improve just a bit there’s been there was times that they uh against Little Rock they let the they let the bases loaded i mean that’s just that just bites you in the ass time and time again so hopefully uh hopefully they can uh rectify that in this series against West Virginia i I think this is I think this is going to be a really good well pitched well pitched series all right Anthony least team with 10 win 10 wins he’s 10-2 uh Kate Anderson’s nine and one william Schmidt is seven and0 he started six games but mostly that’s been mostly that’s been in uh you know midweek games but he is seven and0 chase Shores is five and three chase Shores he’s he’s had some times where he can throw the football really really hard and get his location down point and then there’s times he comes out the next inning and he can’t throw a strike so Evans is 4- one connor is four- one zack Cowan’s three and three uh Jaden N was two and one he he struggled uh you know his last start so LSU’s probably they’re going to they’re going to run with Anderson and ice in the first two and uh who’s who’s going to be the third starter if it gets to that point well it’s going to get to that point eventually the more games they play they’re going to have to find that third starter uh to to win the College World Series that’s going to have to happen i think I think you got to go with uh I think you got to go with Kase Evans i just think you have to go with him as the third starter and and just uh and and hopefully hopefully the bullpen can get out so we got a lot of guys that in the bullpen that can really really throw the throw the baseball well you know but that they because they I mean when I say that I mean they got a lot of talent but the problem is they haven’t been consistent enough some guys just haven’t been consistent they throw good for an inning next inning they come out and then they they can’t throw a strike so that’s going to have to change that’s going to have to change starting this weekend because if they start they start uh missing their spots especially you know if if it becomes a bullpin game it it might not turn out well for LSU but I I like our chances with with Anderson and Einson going seven or eight uh in the first two games hope we hope we can uh hope we can close it out in the first two games but but I was a bet man i’m going to say uh I’m going to say West Virginia actually they might steal one of these first two games but hopefully hopefully it doesn’t get to that point till a game three because if it gets to that point in game three I don’t know what I don’t know what Jay Johnson is going to do uh I don’t know if he’s going to start N is he going to start Deans uh I mean I I don’t know i don’t think I think anybody knows i think he should start Case Neans because I think Case Neans gives LSU the best chance to get deep and deep into the ball game it comes down to a point where we we’re down to a third starter so what do you guys think man how’s this super regional going to is going to uh is going to pan out i think LSU is going to win in three games i think I think West Virginia is going to actually I think West Virginia’s going to win game one i think LSU is going to win game two lsu is going to win game three i got I got LSU in three games yes I’m picking LSU i’m I’m picking LSU to lose game one we’ll see uh we’ll see how my predictions are usually they’re not very well they’re not very good so if you’re if you can say you can call me an idiot for picking against LSU and Kate Anderson well sometimes majority of my picks don’t work out so so we got a super regional coming up this weekend for for uh LSU and West Virginia the winner of that of course goes to Omaha be in the College World Series lsu is going to go for if they get to Omaha they’ll be trying to go for their eighth national championship and if West Virginia gets to Omaha they’ll be going they’ll be trying to go for their first national championship i think this I think this is going to be a really good series i think West Virginia uh I think they I think they’re playing really well right now they went on they went on the road and won that regional against Clemson and uh straight sets they beat Kentucky once or Kentucky twice with Clemson uh in the middle of that and LSU beat Little Rock dallas Baptist lost to Little Rock and then beat Little Rock in uh the seventh game in the Baton Rouge Regional so you guys have a good one we’ll see you uh we’ll see you next time and go Tigers
