Clippers Might Trade Norman Powell, Bogdan Bogdanovic?

a colleague Michael Scott confirms in his most recent report a discussion that Eric Fininkis and I had in one of our most recent videos that I posted from our 2-hour video breaking down Serap’s routines like the Clippers that Norman Powell and Bogdan Bogdamic we all knew Bogdan Machdanovich as soon as he’s traded there was more than likely going to be a trade trip this off season And I think when you look at it it makes sense So let’s read the report Links in the description So speaking of Norman Battle the 32 year 32year-old guard will be eligible for a contract extension coming off of a career season However given Norman Pal’s under contract for 20.48 million for the 24 to 25 season there’s no urgency for the Clippers to extend it my apology for the 25 to 26 season and the Clippers would want to maintain significant cap space flexibility for the upcoming summer as sources say notably only have Zubots guaranteed at 21 million for you know that I think it is the 27th to 28 season Now Pal’s expiring contract is also a valuable trade chip if needed to acquire a star player should the Clippers decide to pivot in that direction this off season or before the trade deck line next season Another noteworthy trade chip is Ba Bdanovic who’s owed 16.02 million next season and has a 16.02 million team option for the 2026 to 27 season As we know he’s a guy that more than likely is going to be traded As much as I enjoyed his time in the Cloopers lineup he was a bit streaky He had some good moments he had some bad moments but it always made sense that he was somebody that they were probably going to use in a trade as he shot 47% overall and 43% from downtown in 30 games with the Clippers after struggling with the Hawks this season where Los Angeles had acquired him from but the Clippers want to add a player And if you combine Powell and Baron Barovic’s salary it’s feasible And essentially combining two expiring contracts for a financial flexibility to any trade partner would be huge as that gets you $36 million And another guy that they could use in a trade Scott reports is Derrick Jones Jr who’s making $10 million and then 10.48 the following season So the Clippers can theoretically also dangle one of its unconditional first round picks in 2031 and two swaps in 2030 and 2032 So barring a trade of that magnitude the Clippers are expected to have the non-t taxpayer mid-level exception and will target a backup point guard and a center who can defend and protect the rim League sources told Michael Scott of Oopsite Depending on the market it’s unclear if the mid-level exception will go to one player or split among multiple players to fortify the team’s depth By the way you can use the mid-level exception in a trade as we’ve seen multiple other teams use recently as the new collective bargaining agreement allows And their current backup center has a $4.75 million non-g guaranteed salary So if you even included that in a trade that would bring up the salaries to basically $40 million in a combination of Bogdans and Mr Norm Powell Normal and Drew Eubanks as he’s not expected to return Eubanks will either be waved or used as Sally Filler in a trade The returns of Amir Coffee depends on his free agent market and Ben Simmons is also not certain for returning However Nick Patum will return on his player option next year Now what players are making between 30 30 million and 40 million that could intrigue a team like the Clippers I I think they would have interest man It becomes hard It becomes hard because I doubt this is a team that’s wanting to bring in a forward like Michael Porter Jr or a Yeah I think that ma’am do you think they would take a Manuel Quickley I don’t think so though And I don’t know if Manley Quickley would be the guy that RJ Barrett is the guy that the Raptors are probably going to trade and is R.J Barrett the type of guy that you would want to trade for because are you going to run with Harden as point guard or do you think you need a true point guard to play harden at shooting guard That’s one thing you need to think of Then Kawhai is he a power forward or a small forward and that’s where it starts to kind of get hard to look like who are you going to try to add Do you add some size like a Julius Randle if he’s available Is he that even the guy that you would want to go after at that position Another question that you have to go through and think One player I think the Clippers would consider is a Kristoff Porzingis We get cap flexibility and you don’t have to necessarily send Norm Powell and the combination of Bogdon to Boston or even Drew Holiday would be that they would probably be interested in you could open up that deal to other teams I wonder if there’s another player available As we said I think if you could combine RJ Barrett and I know Purle is making 19.5 that brings you to like 46 but you can package Eubanks Pal and Odon Boie and I think use some of your mid-level exception You could then do a trade of RJ Barrett and Yaka Purle and that might actually be your best deal if you’re the Clippers because you got a center and Purle who can play with Zubots I know he’s not like you know an extreme athlete but I think he’s a top 15 center and imagine having a Ple Zubots They could Yeah cuz like I know somebody going to be like well I want like a Daniel Gaffa type center like a you know floor running energy guy and I get that I get that But I think Purle would be a great you know consolidation prize while also getting yourself a guy in RJ Barrett who can play as a swingman and even be a small ball for I know he doesn’t take the best shots I think his shot selection’s gotten better and he had a decent season with Toronto this year So that’s where I come over here and I want to ask you guys if you guys were the Clippers what would you guys do And yeah I think that’s the the biggest thing to me is that when I look at this situation I would have to think that a team like the Clippers would probably instead of going for a big old star they would trade these salaries for multiple players to add their depth because I think they realize that they are more lethal with diversity in their depth than they are without the versatility as they said it’s you know addition by subtraction I guess this would be addition by subtraction by adding more guys hypothetically but you get the points
