this trade report is absolutely ridiculous ever since the Dallas Mavericks trade away Luca Donuch the oddsmakers believe the Mavericks will be involved in every single major trade moving forward we’ve seen the odds makers give the Dallas Mavericks some of the best odds at getting Jimmy Butler Kevin Durant Herb Jones Giannis Antompo and although none of those trades have gone through yet or most likely ever go through they truly do believe that if Nico will trade Luca he will trade for someone else but just the other day the odds came out again and said that the Dallas Mavericks have some of the best odds at getting Carl Anthony Towns from the New York Knicks and just the other day we saw Tom Tibido getting released from the Knicks obviously they’re shifting into a whole another direction and maybe that means Cat is also gone as there were complaints from certain players about his level play in the playoffs so in this video we’re going to take a look at what are the oddsmakers saying why do we have such odds at getting Cat Is it feasible and would it actually be a good thing But how’s it going everybody My name is Marcel Martin this is Mavericks Digest bringing you the latest news Mavericks related make sure you subscribe but like I said the Dallas Mavericks were constantly being involved in any big trade these days it feels like earlier in the season we had some of the best odds of getting Jimmy Butler and that never happened he went to Golden State he got a $100 million contract at the ripe old age of 37 they lost in the second round and that was that or it was the first round they lost in the playoffs that was the whole point we also have some odds of getting Herb Jones we actually have the best odds of getting Herb Jones we talked about that on this channel and that wouldn’t be too bad a lot of people hold Herb Jones in high regard he’s one of these best wing defenders still at a young age he is coming back from an injury but would be very good on this Dallas Mavericks team we’ve also heard endlessly that the Mavericks have some of the best odds at getting Kevin Durant and although there was a lot of noise a lot of buzz surrounding Kevin Durant and the Mavericks during the trade deadline as that was potentially another move that was supposed to happen after we got Anthony Davis has yet to happen although we do know now that Phoenix is aggressively shopping Kevin Durant but now they’re saying that we have some of the best odds at getting Carl Anthony Towns we take a look right here uh the Warriors are third in odds to land Carl Anthony Towns per Bata official it’s always Bata official not sure what odds they’re rolling with but the the number one team with the best odds of getting Carl Andy Towns is the Phoenix Suns followed by the Orlando Magic Golden State Warriors Utah Jazz then the Dallas Mavericks followed by the Toronto Raptors and there’s a lot of buzz going on right now specifically around Kevin Durant apparently Devin Booker and Carly Towns very close they want to play together in some capacity so maybe there is a trade i know a lot of Knicks fans out there would probably trade Kevin Durant for Carly Towns it is kind of odd as you just traded for Carl Anthony Towns but you did just fire head coach so maybe a whole new direction is where where the Knicks are trying to go and if Kevin Durant was already in New York once why not bring him back for a second time on a different team trying to win yet again But was Carl Andy Towns that bad this season Was he a player that was worth trading due to not making it to the finals Well let’s take a look at Cat for the season he was averaging 24.4 points 12.8 8 rebounds 3.1 assists,.7 blocks one steal 2.7 turnovers and 3.5 fouls per game while shooting 52% from the floor and 42% from three these numbers don’t look like someone that’s about to get traded right away i do understand that there is a lot of discontent around Carl Anthony Towns there were players talking about his defense or his lack of defense i know the team like I said before they fire their coach maybe there is a new direction and prior to Tibido prior to Brunston prior to Julius Randall getting to New York New York was a laughingstock the Knicks who haven’t won a championship since 1973 was a team that was constantly failing year overyear and I know the Dallas Mavericks have this weird turn style of players and staff and coaches where people come and go very quickly the Knicks were even worse not even that long ago about 10 eight years ago the Knicks would constantly bring in new owners not not new ownership but new people in the front office there would be a new GM a new head coach a new star trades trades trades and it just would never work and some people think maybe that’s what the Knicks are just reverting back to going back to what you know just constantly rotating people whether it be players staff executives in and out until something works and I’m not a Knicks fan obviously this is Mavericks Digest so what does this have to do with the Dallas Mavericks Well some people would argue that if you do trade for Cat maybe you get better there’s Anthony Davis the Knicks may value him more than Cat or think that he could do better than Carl Envy Towns but Carl Towns isn’t a bad player averaging 24 points albeit I get it his defense was not that good in the playoffs a lot of players were complaining about I’ll throw up the report right here knicks players and and coaches expressed frustration with Cat’s defense and felt he was executing coverages incorrectly with no explanation as to why players felt that Cat did not grasp the importance of defense and defense really is just effort mixed with a little bit of basketball IQ and if you’re at this level of basketball in your career you should have a certain level of basketball IQ to where you understand defense you can grasp the importance of defense so maybe that’s more on the coach but it could be more on Cat obviously while he was in Minnesota he really wasn’t that great of a defender i mean he’s 7 feet tall sure but that’s why they brought in Rudy Gobear to actually play the five and let Cat be a stretch four and if you look at Dallas with Anthony Davis well Anthony Davis stretch four carl V towns you’re a 7 foot stretch four we got centers that wouldn’t be that bad of a trade now I’m not advocating for it i’m totally fine with Anthony Davis i understand that he’s had injuries in the past i’m cool with it he’s won an NBA championship already he’s got the experience and I don’t want this team changing drastically year-over-year otherwise we will be the New York Knicks but if we take a look right here the like I said the other day the New York Knicks are relieving Tom Tibido of his duties as head coach sources tell ESPN Tibido led the Knicks to their first Eastern Finals in 25 years made playoffs in four or five years and led Knicks to consecutive 50 plus one seasons for the first time since the 1990s and you can do all that and still get fired which is absolutely crazy but like I said it shows that the Knicks are trying to go in a different direction and just looking at the contract of Carl Anthony Towns he is going to be owed for this upcoming season $53 million carl Anthony Towns as well as Giannis Antumbo as well as Kevin Durant are three players that will be making around 50 plus million a year and if you want to trade for a player like that you’re going to gut the team you’re going to if you don’t want to trade Anthony Davis you’re going to have to trade PJ Gafford Klay just any big salary to just try and get someone like Cat but it’s not going to happen that this this is not something that’s going to happen for the Dallas Mavericks obviously weirder things have happened a lot of us thought Luca would never get traded and it happened so I get it take it but take it with a grain of salt bat official they’re the the oddsmakers just throw things out there for whatever reason i guess sports betting and gambling if we take a look at Anthony Davis contract Anthony Davis is very similar to Carl in the town’s contract so if you were to trade for Cat Anthony Davis would be the best option because it’s just one player probably throwing some picks or some rotation players as well for filler but like I said Anthony Davis is making around $54 million his new contract starts his upcoming season but if we do compare Cat to Anthony Davis I can see why people may think well Cat would be better they both want to be stretch fours i mean Carly Towns is a better shooter just from an efficiency standpoint these are their numbers from last season cat shot better from the floor he shot better from three he shot better from the free throw line he had a better efficient field goal percentage he does rebound just slightly better than than Anthony Davis but everything else is relatively the same the points are the same the assists aren’t that far off steals same anthony Davis does block more than Cat which leads into the defense as to why they’re frustrated with Cat and not really understanding defense but if defense wins championships and if that’s something that we’re going to hang our hat on then Cat isn’t going to be the option for the Dallas Mavericks that’s not something that we need to entertain they have their eyes set on Kevin Durant probably Giannis or any other players probably not even trade Cat like I said this is what the oddsmakers are saying there’s no official report that they’re that they are shopping him but we do know that they are upset with his performance in the playoffs and when it comes to the New York Knicks you really don’t know what they’re going to do next but let me know what you think in the
