I’m with you RB this could have been even more of a disaster year if we didn’t get any pick and as a Sixer fan this fan base makes me sick! We lucky got the 3rd pick and they still complaining! I’m firmly in the AB at 3rd pick camp! Like you said this position we’re in is nothing but positive from what the other outcome could have been!

Very fun exercise RB, this is my Lottery Mock Draft according to who I would pick for each team (and assuming no trades):
1) Dallas = Cooper Flagg
2) SA = Kon Kneuppel
3) Philly = Jeremiah Fears
4) CHA = Khaman Maluach
5) UTA = Dylan Harper
6) WSH = Ace Bailey
7) NOP = VJ Edgecombe
8) BRK = Tre Johnson
9) TOR = Noa Essengue
10) HOU = Carter Bryant
11) POR = Cedric Coward
12) CHI = Nique Clifford
13) ATL = Egor Demin
14) SA = Derik Queen
15) OKC = Collin Murray-Boyles
PSA: This is not what I THINK will happen. I know this mock is VERY different from the consensus. This is what I would do if I was picking for each team.
I've said it from day 1 i wouldn't be surprised if Harper is available at 3 onwards. Then, do the Sixers really want another guard?
Your idea of Spurs trading the pick makes sense also 👌
The more I think about it, the more I feel like there will be 2 specific shakeups via trade in the top 7 of this draft:
1) I think San Antonio and Utah will swap picks, with Utah moving up to select Dylan Harper at 2, and San Antonio moving down to 5 and taking their guy in Kon Kneuppel, who makes a whole lot of sense for them (especially after the Fox trade).
2) I can see Washington moving up to 3 to take Ace Bailey. The Sixers would move down to 6, and pick up the 18th and 40th picks as well. That would be a HAUL for Daryl Morey, tbh.
I'm especially curious to hear your take/opinion on the 2nd trade proposal I mentioned, involving the 6ers. Would you do that? Do you see it happening? Still TONS of talented options at 6, plus you get 18 and 40 as well. That gives Philly picks 6, 18, 35, and 40. Could really reset the franchise if you bang on 3 out of those 4 picks.

If they did trade down (which they absolutely shouldn’t) then the lowest they should trade down to is to 5 with the Jazz so we could get Tre Johnson with some assets/compensation. Nothing else makes any sense because they’re out of the win-now window with Embiid’s health in constant question, just like PG’s at his age AND he’s out of his prime — which means it’s Maxey’s era now, and for that, you build around ‘his’ youthful timeline for the future (or in other words, you take the potential top three all-star prospect that you can pair with him, McCain, Grimes, etc.)
Keeping a top-5 pick is important because we need to build around Maxey now, and we don’t know how competitive we’ll actually be if the same year repeats itself with injuries, AND at the very least, the owners will need a selling point with an upcoming franchise player — so if you trade down outside of the top 5, you probably lose that potential and ceiling (at least upon speculation as a rookie with fans having to buy back-in with interest).
All in all, win-now moves have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR US because our core player isn’t consistently available. So trading for players to aid our two most questionable talents makes no sense, and this season proved that ‘getting there’ isn’t a given either (as currently constructed with “win-now” moves) — so they would be wise to plan ‘around’ Embiid and beyond him now with the highest potential draft player for what comes after him.
