Draft Day TRADES Brewing ALREADY!

kevin Durant to the Spurs rumors heating up could a deal get done on draft night and what that would look like but first we’ve got another draft night rumor that is making the rounds involving the Brooklyn Nets trading up in the draft using Cam Johnson i’m Trevor Lane this is the Basketball Bulletin make sure you subscribe right here to the channel we’re going to keep you up to date on all things going on around the NBA in what’s going to be a very busy offseason so again make sure you hit that subscribe button so here’s what’s going on right now reports out of Brooklyn that the Nets are offering Cam Johnson and the 19th pick in the hopes of acquiring another lottery pick they’ve talked to Toronto and they’ve talked to Houston about doing this so what would that potentially look like so right now the Brooklyn Nets currently have the eighth pick in the NBA draft they actually fell a couple of spots in the draft lottery but they have the eighth pick they’re trying to get a second lottery pick though to add even more young talent to their roster and they are dangling Cam Johnson as a means of doing so now in the past they have asked for specifically last year at the trade deadline they’ve asked for multiple first round picks in exchange for Cam Johnson obviously they did not get that so a little bit interesting here that they’d be potentially moving Cam Johnson just to move up say 10 spots remember the Brooklyn Nets currently have the 19th pick so they’d be taking 19 plus Cam Johnson and trying to move up in a deal with the Houston Rockets or the Toronto Raptors so that would give Brooklyn potentially back-to-back picks at 8 and nine or perhaps picks with one in between at 8 and 10 if they’re able to get the Houston pick but who would be interested in Cam Johnson i mean he’s a highle role player you like what he brings obviously he is he stretches the definition of role player because he can be better than that in certain situations but on a winning team he’s a high level role player he’s a wing fairly versatile can shoot the ball from the outside and you look at the contract he’s at 20.5 million this season 22.5 million next season that’s not bad at all for Cam Johnson uh again pretty high level role player that you’re getting in him and you’re getting a wing that you could plug in right now even teams that have wing depth want more wings right that’s what everybody wants in today’s NBA they want versatile switchy wings that can shoot now is Cam Johnson the best defensive player out there no but he’s not awful he can give you something there and that he’s particularly with his length and then he’s got that shooting ability that a lot of teams are after so I do like that there’s not a lot of long-term commitment here so these those teams that are right now allergic to long-term salaries and under the new CBA they don’t want long-term money on their books there’s not that risk with Cam Johnson he’s only under contract for two years 29 years old that’s getting I guess a little up there but he’s still firmly in his prime you don’t have to worry too much there so I think Cam Johnson makes sense as a target for a number of teams but specifically when we look at the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets you got to wonder if it requires another domino to fall in order for those teams to pivot to a Cam Johnson because both of those teams are rumored to be in the mix for Yasto Dumpo if he winds up out there on the market they could be in the mix as well for Kevin Durant and so I would think it would take both of those guys either seeing themselves come off the market completely because they already get traded or having it be revealed that they’re simply not being moved which would be more likely in the case of Giannis onto Takoupo for either of these teams to pull the trigger and say “Okay we’re going to go for Cam Johnson.” They’re not going to make that move if they feel like they could still get Giannis if they feel they could still get Kevin Durant you’re not going to make that move for Cam Johnson but if those players are off the board then I could see Cam Johnson being a pivot for a Houston Rocket side that definitely needs more scoring in the half court could Cam Johnson be somebody that could get you a bucket certainly not to the degree of a but could Cam Johnson be somebody that could give you a little bit of scoring punch in the half court the Rockets they struggled so badly to score the ball in half court situations and then for the Toronto Raptors this is a team they don’t want to keep tanking they don’t want to do it they want to make steps moving forward they want to improve they’ve got RJ Barrett they did a little pre- agency free agency early when they traded for Brandon Ingram at the trade deadline they’re trying to put together a team that can win right now emanuel Quickley Grady Dick you’ve got uh RJ Barrett you’ve got some talent there yaka Purle is a guy that I like a lot in the middle of course Scotty Barnes they’ve got pieces particularly at a wide open East where they can look at things and say “Why not us why can’t we be the team to make that run so I think they are going to be in until the bitter end on Giannis but if Giannis is off the board a pivot to Cam Johnson might make some sense on either front and you know what i also don’t mind it from Toronto or or Houston because you’re not moving back that far you’re talking about moving back to the 19th it’s not like you’re trading out of the lottery so a lot of it will depend on what their draft board looks like and how they view those players who would uh conceivably be there at 19 compared to somebody that might be there at say 9 or 10 but you’re talking about trading back 10 spots and picking up a highle rotation player in Cam Johnson what’s the likelihood that the player that you’re going to get at say 10 is ever as good as Cam Johnson it’s certainly not 100% it’s not a certainty and so I think that should be an appealing trade but again as a fallback for Houston or for Toronto now that’s not the only rumor that’s out there right now though no no no it also involves the San Antonio Spurs and that there is this is so critical everybody kevin Durant’s camp is eyeing San Antonio as a landing spot this is according to John Gamidoro john Gamidoro very very plugged in in the Phoenix market he knows what he’s talking about from the Sun side of things so John Gamadoro saying the Durant camp is eyeing San Antonio now again I talked about a little bit yesterday if I’m the Spurs I’m not giving up the number two pick to get Kevin Durant i’m not doing it if I’m the Suns I’m asking for it i’m absolutely asking for the number two pick but I wouldn’t give that up for a 37year-old Kevin Durant if I’m San Antonio and I think KD would be a great fit though that’s true of a lot of locations he would be a great fit in a lot of different places but I’m not giving up that number two pick from San Antonio however the rumors are that what the spur what the Suns want is a starting center that’s one of the things on their shopping list this summer and they also want to add young talent via the draft in other words they want the Kevin Durant trade to get done before the draft so that they can muse those picks that they get from a Kevin Durant trade on draft night well guess what the Spurs don’t have just the second pick they also have the 14th pick via the Atlanta Hawks so maybe it could be something that’s the final pick of the lottery but maybe you could do something around that 14th pick some future draft capital and then when we look at San Antonio they’ve got plenty of contracts that they could add into a deal to make something work and I think there’s some attractive players here as well when we look at you know what Kell Johnson’s been a bit up and down over the course of his career but I’ve been a fan of Kell Johnson’s game uh for a while $17.5 million not bad there harrison Barnes you’re getting a veteran on an expiring contract for a Suns team that might value future flexibility that we’re kind of up against it when it comes to that second apron maybe that future flexibility of the $19 million Harrison Barnes contract could hold value deon Vel I think I question the fit with Devin Booker but nonetheless you could turn this into maybe a three team deal i think he’s got value as a young shooting guard $27 million flat for two years then drops down to 24.6 then back up to 27 so an interesting contract there for Deon Mel but he’s another guy who could be appealing to the Phoenix Suns so there’s some pieces here now I know people will say “What about Stefan Castle what about the number two pick?” Again if I am the Spurs I’m not willing to give up that stuff in order to get Kevin Durant and look if the Suns say “Well we need one of those things in order to give up KD,” then so be it if I’m the Spurs honestly I I move on and I look at other options and maybe I I turn and look towards a Cam Johnson or or someone like that i’m just not willing to give up that kind of young talent to get a 37 even if you told me Kevin Durant’s 35 okay all right then maybe talk yourself into 32 for sure and he’s probably getting a lot more on the market if he’s 32 but 37 you know there’s just not that many years left there meanwhile Victor Webman is 22 years old i want somebody who can be with WBY for at least the next five years and I don’t know that that’s going to be Kevin Durant it’s unlikely that he’s going to have that long of a career but if you’re telling me it’s the 14th pick and I got to stack up a few salaries and maybe a future pick or something like that okay all right i think we’re in business and we have to remember that Kevin Durant has a lot of say in where he goes and can do a lot to depress his own market for example let’s say the Toronto Raptors they don’t get Giannis and they pivot to KD the Raptors can say “We want to trade for KD.” Well guess what even though it’s not a long future nobody’s going to want to give up significant assets to trade for Kevin Durant only to see him walk away the next summer so Kevin Durant who can hit free agency in 2026 has a lot of power if he doesn’t want to go to Toronto he just says “Hey you could trade for me i’ll play for you this year but it’ll be a Kawaii situation i’ll come play for you i’ll give you all I got but I’m gone next summer i’m not staying there.” So that’s just a hypothetical and if that were to be the case most likely Toronto was no longer willing to offer the kind of things that they would offer Phoenix if they believe KD was going to stay meanwhile KD could say “Hey Spurs I love you guys i’ll stay longterm i’ll sign a new deal with you.” And San Antonio would then be willing to give up more value in a trade because they know they’d have Kevin Durant for let’s call it two years maybe it’s three years that he does because he has a new two-year deal after this one finishes then you’re going to be more willing to give up value for KD than if you know he’s a one-year rental so Kevin Durant has a lot of influence as landing spot and that’s why the reporting from John Gamidoro matters so much that Kevin Durant’s camp is eyeing San Antonio as a potential landing spot now there’s still a number of other teams that can get into the mix for KD but this shows you San Antonio look what a difference you can make by getting lucky in the draft you get the guy and they did it in Victor Wanyama then they get the rookie of the year in Stefon Castle last year now they get lottery lock again and they move up to the number two spot suddenly they’re getting attention from veteran players who want to go win right now and you’ve got guys like Kevin Durant saying you know what I I’ll give San Antonio a chance here so I think the Spurs are going to get somebody whether it’s Kevin Durant or otherwise but interesting here that KD is eyeing San Antonio this very well could wind up paving the way to the Spurs being the team to land Kevin Durant but of course others will be in the mix including the Houston Rockets who we talked quite a bit about yesterday but everybody give us your thoughts in the comments down below what do you think cam Johnson where is he ultimately going to wind up what do you think about the Nets strategy of packaging Cam Johnson with that 19th pick to try to move up into the lottery and Kevin Durant in the spur on the Spurs would that strike fear in the heart of the Western Conference let me know your thoughts in the comments section don’t forget to subscribe right here to the channel till next time see you and stay safe

  1. The spurs don’t overpay for players so I’m not worried,we spurs fans just sitting back cause it’s a win any direction we go

  2. No matter what it happens,
Spurs won't overpay for KD because he is 37 with one year left contract and injured.
    They will get Giannis.
    They have everything but Giannis.
They are just waiting him to say " I wanna go to Spurs".

  3. If they get KD without giving up the # 2 pick in the draft they will trade for Giannis using it and it's over.

  4. Not sure how the contract lines up for CJ and PG. I’d be interested if they were able to pull off a trade with Philly and take on the PG contract (potential buyout). Course this means nothing if Philly isn’t interested or able to trade #3. (I also know #3 is a lot for CJ, but Philly might be desperate enough after this past season)

  5. If Greek Freek goes to San Antonio it would be a matchup nightmare for every team in the league.

Two 7 footers who can play 94 feet oh my gosh.

I love my lakers but we don’t want Giannis to go to the spurs.

  6. 50 games of Cam Johnson doesn’t move the needle for anyone other than the Nets, who’ve confused him w/ actually being a star because the rest of their team is so bad.

  7. I wouldn’t touch trading for KD unless it’s for a bag of peanuts at this stage of his career. One trip from this old player and he’s out for the season. 😂😅😂😅😂😮

  8. Lakers still gonna be trash! Lebron old a** still cant guard anything and Luka will still be a CONE.. and Imagine they will be playing a 55th drafted scrub..😂

  9. Are the spurs really going to pay fox 40-50 mill or even the max … they gave up basically one valuable thing for him and that was the Minnesota 31 1st round pick

  10. I'd be all over this if I was Portland. Especially if they make a Simons trade for mainly draft stuff
