Make every moment more with FanDuel, the official sports betting partner of the NBA. Speaking of the NBA, reports, uh, from Sacramento that they’re interested in Darius Garland as their point guard. Darius and Trey, the two names that. So what’s a trade? Is there a trade that works with Sacramento? Yeah, you can find, yeah, you could find Finagle’s a couple of different moves involving different pieces in Sacramento if you wanted to. When did this rumor come out? Was this before we heard he had surgery? I saw it yesterday online. I mean, I guess if you’re the Kings, you maybe don’t care they had surgery because — you’re that’s more of a long term thing
— if you’re looking at Darius Garland as from a team like Sacramento or potentially like a Brooklyn. Yeah, that’s playing for the future, exactly they’re trying to establish we want a point guard for the future. They traded D’Aaron Fox. They ran it back with Zach Levine and Malik Monk and DeMarta Rosen. They played such an IO heavy style of basketball last year. I think that whole organization is like, yeah, that didn’t really work how we thought it would. Let’s strip it down. — Any anything ever
— worked for the Sacramento Kings. They had that one good year with Lottie. Well, I would say more recently but they had when they — when they’ve had finals and what was that
— 2006. They’ve had a couple of sporadic years, but for the most part they’ve been the Browns in the NBA. — They’ve been
— terrible, yeah, terrible, and they’re usually a team that if you’re doing a deal with, yeah, you ripped them off. You want to be in business with the kids because they made some terrible trades, but I was looking at the roster yesterday and yeah. I, I don’t just, I don’t like the pieces they have. Like I put together this was the best trade proposal I could put together. Yeah, but I, I don’t like it, but it was like the best I thought he could put up. It was Darius Garland from Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, and Devin Carter. Carter was their lottery pick, 13th overall last year. — He’s an
— only. The draft just about every year. — He
— was hurt basically his whole rookie season. I liked him coming out. He’s a bigger athletic guard, but he’s older. He played 5 years of college. Keegan Murray was the 4th pick a couple of years ago. He’s been solid. — Malik Monk’s a good 6 I don’t
— really, I mean, I’ve heard of Malik Monk, but I don’t know anything about those players. It’s 3 players. I like the idea of getting 3 for 1 because the Cavs have, have only like 4 playable and and uh you don’t know if any of those guys are guys. Yeah, — I don’t
— know. You have no idea. So give me the, give me the uh Mali Malikb Malik Monks a prototypical man, can get hot off the bench, can score much more of a a score. More than a facilitator. Keegan Murray was the 4th overall pick a couple of years ago. He was taking one pick before Jaden Ivey’s a bigger 3D kind of wing, pretty good offensive player, not much of a defensive player. Then Devin Carter was there first round pick last year, I think it was 13th, 12th overall. So like two solid players and the third guy you don’t know yet. — You don’t
— know yet. Yeah, and I just. Dustin, do you know these players? — I don’t know anything
— about Malik Monk. I know Keegan Murray. I don’t know a ton about. I mean, I’ve heard him. I’ve heard his name. So what’s wrong with this trade? — Is this not
— enough? I would just want way more and with money situations like you can’t, they, they don’t have contracts to get you more now if you wanted to turn this into a set, I saw someone put like sent me a deal and it was Garland, Enda Coro and Dean Wade for like half of the King’s roster. The Kings sucked last year. Do you really want half of the crappy Kings like I don’t know. Well, it’s a bonus part of it, but like I understand. I’m the only player I care about that is, in my opinion, Sacramento’s. 4th, 5th, and 9th best guys, 5th, 6th, — and
— is there any chance Devin Carter becomes a really good player? He barely barely played. He missed almost the entire rookie season. Who knows, man. Honestly, I would rather. You know, hope that those guys turn into one of the 7 guys like the Pacers have, you know, maybe some, maybe these guys could just, you know, be those decent depth pieces because the Cavs need that. They, they need guys that can consistently, you know, if one guy’s not there one night, someone could pick up the slack. That’s what the Pacers have done. Now, their luck may run out here. I think it probably is going to run out, but still they’re in the NBA finals. They beat the Cavs. They they’ve beaten everybody. I mean they’ve got a nice little thing going. What is Malik Monk average? What did he average last year? And you made the stack graphic. You want to pull it up 13.7, and I think he probably scored more than that. 17 points last year, yeah, 44%. 00, — that’s
— field goal percentage. They, uh, they ran a lot. They played no defense as a team, so a lot of their numbers a little bit inflated, but I, I like, like, I like Malik Monk. I like Keegan Murray. Devin Carter. I’d like to come out of the draft. I don’t really know, but I mean that is there a chance that could turn out to be a a good trade for the Cavs? If Devin Carters not to be good then yeah but it’s it’s. I feel so desperate right now just because I don’t want to watch Darius — I
— know and I feel like you are — that’s a bad attitude I
— guess, but you’re trying to talk some of these things and I hear just like we talked about the, the Guardians, the casual fan versus the people who are more like. I understand all the frustration. Everyone who’s like, You gotta trade there. I hear you. Like I, I understand where the frustration comes from, but I’ll die on this hill, and if I die alone on it, I’ll die alone on it. Making a trade just for the sake of making a trade, if it doesn’t actually help you, it is not, is not beneficial for the. You guys keep telling me how good Darius Garland is, and then you keep saying there’s no good trade for him. If he’s that good, why can’t I get him find a good trade for him? Well, I, OK, you gave some trades that we like last week, like that one. I that one I don’t, but the problem is like the trades you like the most like that that Jade McDaniel’s trade. Well, Minnesota is not gonna make that trade now because Darius is hurt. Yeah, that’s it. So the only way you can trade, I think the only teams that are gonna still be interested in Darius right now are bad teams that are looking to kind of start over with him, and they usually those teams don’t have the players that they — have more draft picks and young guys
— what you want. I heard someone float out. I forget who I heard it was Rosillo. A deal with the Nets where it was the 8th pick in Cam Johnson for Darius Garland. And I, — I like I like
— Camp Johnson a lot and the 8th pick in a pretty good draft, like that’s a valuable asset, but it, it changes your whole timeline now and. You’re taking an 8th pick. I mean, is the 8th pick gonna be a guy who can contribute right away at a high level? Probably not, right? Rookies almost very rarely like on any team — contribute you’re expecting
— Cooper flag to do that, but yeah, it’s one guy, but and this is considered a good draft, yeah. Look at the teams deep in the playoffs. Like they didn’t use rookies. None of them did. The Thunder played AJ Mitchell, who was their their pick for like 2 minutes in game one, got pulled, didn’t play in game two. The Pacers don’t have a rookie in their rotation. It’s the 3rd year for Nather and the 2nd year for Jarvis Walker. Knicks don’t have a rookie in their rotation. The Timberwolves drafted Rob Dillingham’s 7th overall last year, didn’t play like, like guys drafted there very, very rarely. Yeah, — you gotta be a special player tribute big time so
— it just kind of like changes your timeline and then you gotta ask yourself, is Darius Garland or Cam Johnson like help them more right now? I mean, Darius is better than Cam Johnson. There’s, there’s no doubt about it. Cam plays a more. Position that they may need a little more help at, but I don’t think it’s apples to apples. When you compare players, I feel like we only talk about offense because Darius Garland is a really bad defender, is he not? It’s not good. Yeah, it’s not his strength by any means. So is the offensive gap between. Uh, Cam Johnson and Darry is bigger than the defensive gap between the two. One’s a creator and one’s not. That’s what it comes at the end of the day. So when Minnesota lost to OKC. And bad job out of me as producer here to not play the sound bite. Do you remember what we did before the, the Cavs played OKC and I played that Will Wade sound bite and you guys, or Will Hardy, excuse me, you guys were all like, uh, Chris Fitch said something fascinating when they lost to OKC. He was asked, what do you guys got to get more? He’s the head coach of the Timberwolves, by the way. What, what do you, what do you guys need to get more to be able to beat a team like that? He’s like guys who can dribble. And he goes, we all talk about shooting, right? Everyone wants shooting. Shooting is great, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have guys that can generate open shots for those shooters, and he was talking about guys like JD McDaniels, who we mentioned in trades. If he’s wide open in the corner, he’s gonna make shots, but he’s not a shot creator. So when you play a defense like OKC. You need guys in Indiana, by the way, is OKC light in terms of how they play from a defensive style. They’re not nearly as frantic and they don’t trap as much but they pressure you. They’re physical, they want you to play one on one. It’s like you, we need guys that can generate their own shot. Tim Bros had Anthony Edwards who could do that. They had Julius Rand who could do that. They had nobody else, and they struggled tremendously against OKC. To get good looks for the guys who typically just space the floor and knock down their open shots, Steve Vincenzo, Jayden McDaniels, Mike Conley at 40 years old or 41, Buckeye legend played in the 007 06 national championship. Like he’s not beating Cason Wallace and Alex Krus off the dribble anymore. So when we look at these teams that are having playoff success, even the Pacers, they got Halliburton who can create. They got Nemhardt who can create. They got Siakam who can create. Miles Turner to an extent can create. So that gives them a shot. Yes, and when you look at the Cavs, it’s not I can’t trade Darius. I’m open to the right deal, but if you’re going to move Darius who however you feel about Darius, he is a creator, right? We can agree he’s a creator. He creates not just for himself but for others. You have to get something back that allows you to keep that number of creators on the court at the same time, Cam Johnson. Minimal creator, he’s more of a catch and shoot kind of guy. He’s like the Hunter, yeah, who they’re like half creators. Uh, Jayden McDaniel’s not a creator, so it’s not that I’m not open to these discussions with Darius. I just, you need something back that would replicate some of the playmaking you’re losing. Right now here’s two thoughts I have about the NBA that I’ll share that I shouldn’t. I’m scared. I’ll share them anyway. Number one, the Cavs feel hopeless. They feel like they’re in this space where they’re a good team, not good enough, and they’re never gonna win. — No one’s
— gonna give them any credit next year and so I — don’t care what they and it stinks
— before you go 2, can I say something? The Cavs got exposed by Indiana in a way. Had they beaten Indiana and had they beaten the Knicks and faced OKC in the finals. All the shortcomings we saw and how their offense worked against Indiana would have been extrapolated to the 50th percentile against OKC. Cleveland at full strength, I hate to say this. I don’t think he had any shot against this OKC team, and we look at, are you going to rebuild, break up whatever you do. It’s not can we beat Indiana in the East. It’s got to be, — can we beat
— OKC? And let’s face it, if they had played Boston, and I know it didn’t happen, they wouldn’t have beaten Boston either, you know that. Let’s, let’s not be real about it. But, um, uh, number 2, I know you guys love Evan Mobley, and I know he’s a talented player, but he’s never gonna be that dog you want him to be, and you know that like you know that you guys don’t you know he’s never gonna be that dog you want him to be. He’s never gonna demand the ball that way. He’s never gonna become this elite player. He’s not. He’s gonna be. very good player. He’s gonna be a 3rd team all NBA. He’s gonna, you know, fraudulently win Defensive Player of the Year, even though he makes no impact on defense in the playoffs. And he’s gonna be that guy. He’s gonna be a very good player and fans are gonna tell me I’m an idiot because I’m a casual basketball fan and that’s all true. Uh, but you know it, you know he’s never becoming an elite player. Don’t give me it’s Kevin Durant nonsense. No, I never say Kevin Durant. Dogs are dogs. He ain’t a dog, and that’s it. Number 3, and this is really gonna piss some people off and people say this about baseball, and I don’t get mad if this is how you feel, this is how you feel. I am bored as shit by the NBA. Everybody plays the exact same way. There’s no, there’s no like, and, and I hate to be this guy, but forget the physicality of the 80s, which maybe we’ve overrated that. But at least in the 80s there was different types of styles of play. Not everything was a freaking 3. I’m so bored by the millions of 3 point shots. I have not watched a minute, not a minute. Those two teams play and, and this is why it’s such a fun series. They don’t play like the rest of the NBA like both those two teams. — So
— they, they have two teams that play differently. There are more than 2, but, but everybody relies on the 3 point shot pretty much outside of like Denver. — Go
— watch OKC play. They shoot a lot of threes. No, no, they don’t. Oh, that’s the crazy part. Yeah, but there’s no like, I like the days of like they feed it to the big man. They don’t post up. I thought I did. I, I’m in the minority. I’m not saying you have to change it for me. I don’t care. I personally find it boring. I find it boring and, and, and let’s face this too, there’s no reason to watch an NBA game before the 4th quarter. There was no reason. — There’s really no reason to watch it before the final 3
— minutes. But you’re probably right. Final 3 minutes in the regular season, especially in the regular season, — last
— 5 minutes. I’ve been watching the, the, the dumbest thing, and we see this all the time. In the NBA. I’m watching the game on ESPN or TNT. They do this especially on ESPN. It’s horrible because their game coverage is just, just atrocious. But uh, When there’s like a big run in the 1st quarter by a team, they go nuts as if it’s meaningful and it’s never meaningful or almost never meaningful. India’s 5 comebacks, yeah, I mean they go crazy. Oh, what a game, blah blah blah. It’s the first quarter. Who gives a crap?

Darius Garland has been at the center of rumors and speculation since the moment the Cleveland Cavaliers’ postseason run came to a premature end.

The All-Star guard underwent toe surgery earlier this week, and his availability for the start of next season is still up in the air, but that hasn’t stopped the trade speculation from continuing.

Grant Afseth of RG.org reported on Tuesday that “The Sacramento Kings have identified Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland as a trade target as they seek to address the team’s vacancy at lead guard this offseason, multiple league sources told RG.”

From Sacramento’s perspective, it would make sense for them to find a replacement star point guard after the team traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at last year’s deadline.

Per Afseth, “Sacramento is motivated to find a long-term solution at point guard” after Fox’s departure. | https://www.si.com/nba/cavaliers/news/cleveland-cavaliers-linked-to-sacramento-kings-amid-darius-garland-trade-rumors

  1. It's absolutely mind blowing that Adam the Bull has made a living talking sports. Never seen anyone in sports media know less about sports.

  2. Trade Allen for rui and knect, and Jaxon Hayes..pickup a veteran backup PG, move Mobley to the 5, play Craig Porter more, problems solved

  3. The only team at this point where it makes sense to potentially trade garland would be to New Orleans

  4. Bull all you do is spew hate that we're supposed listen to, without any facts to support them. Routinely ending with that's how I feel and I don't care what anyone thinks or says in response. There's so little thought in your opinions there's no need to respond.

  5. As I sit here, day trading 0TDE options, Bull sounds like an idiot! Dude is willing to sell $.90 and get .$.45 in return.

  6. This is a great trade. Garland gives you nothing when it counts. Three straight years you really wanna see 4 straight? Keegan murray is 6 8

  7. Keegan Murray + Jake LaRavia( via sign and trade) + Jonas Valanciunas + Devin Carter for Garland.

Keegan Murray would be significantly more valuable to the Cavaliers than Darius Garland. Jake LaRavia is also a strong fit for the Cavs’ current needs. While Malik Monk isn't necessary, Jonas Valančiūnas is extremely important for the team’s frontcourt depth. Devin Carter, on the other hand, is a clutch performer built for big moments. With them, the Cavs would become a championship contender.

  8. You guys come up with the worst trade ideas. How about a good trade? Demar and his 2 years remaining on his contract and Keegan Murray? That’s a great trade for next year and the future. Demar would be great next to Don in playoffs.

  9. This is becoming the worst sports show! They don’t know shit about Basketball! Garland is not the problem he’s an allstar that was fucking hurt ! Like damn! He led the whole NBA in crunch time points & closed more games out for us in the clutch than Spida! Now all of sudden he’s the problem ?STFU Allen is the only one that can go or get a LEGIT SF that can legitimately score & compliment our core 4 go get Kris Middleton & Malcolm Brogdon for cheap vet deals this offseason! Develop Tyson more & let Emoni in the rotation

  10. The NBA has become sort of boring but it's because there are no players that have captured the imagination of the public. No one has that magic right now that's even beyond being an exceptional athlete. We don't really, really love any players. There's no Lebron or Steph Curry coming up and they are going in to the end of their careers. I think we're in for several years of teams not being able to win more than one championship and the top teams in the NBA changing often from year to year. I don't thing there's going to be a championship teams that stays together for 4+ years and maintain their peak for that long.

  11. Who isn’t looking for a point guard , of that caliber…. Everyone realizes the regular season doesn’t matter get in the playoffs healthy, get a few goons to protect our Big 5 … that’s it.

  12. Garland isn't a really bad defender to be honest, just small… but if he plays D like the thunder go for steals he would get better

  13. I think Zach Lavine is super underrated. I wouldn’t mind getting him and Keegan Murray (maybe some draft assets) in exchange for Garland and Okoro.

  14. Bull will ask a question.. Cut you off, answer it himself, then over again.. How and Why is he on TV?

  15. Sorry Kings fan here. Kings organization loves Keegan Murray and view him as untouchable unless a team is willing to pay a kings ransom.

Lavine + Monk + Carter! Who says no?

And does that Adam guy even watch basketball?😅

  16. Just keep bull off the Cavs topics trying to trade dg for scraps and just being incorrect on Mobley what r we talking about
