Spurs INTERESTED in Khaman Maluach! Draft Rumors Update

yo y’all gonna stop coming in my live talking about this Victor dude bro we hooping this here y’all going to see [Music] all right team today we have some good draft news now shout out to the Dunk Central and Kristen Peak for this post the San Antonio Spurs are reportedly showing interest in Cayman Malawak now if I’m not saying that correctly forgive me but while I was watching his film I think that’s how they were pronouncing it so let me know down below another buzzy name tied to the Spurs is Malawak a 72 center out of dupe the Spurs could essentially be building a twin towers with Webinama and Malawak and there is an appeal to drafting another young big man that can learn and grow alongside Wimyama it would be very unlikely that the Spurs would shock everyone and take Malawak with the number two pick but they could be looking to trade down or package the number 14 pick for a shot at a talented center and so I was thinking about it and there are two ways that the Spurs can draft Malawok and they say I’m right here either trading down with the number two pick which I don’t think that’s very likely i think that the Spurs are going to be taking Dylan Harper so I think it’s more likely that the Spurs would package up the number 14 pick and go up in the draft now I don’t know if they package that up with the second round pick that they have later in the draft or they use future seconds that the Spurs have accumulated throughout the years i think they would probably have to give up the second round pick which I’m fine with but also I don’t know which team would be willing to trade back especially to the number 14 team pick i do think Malawok is probably a top 10 pick like just pulling up the first mock draft we have right here he’s going number seven so I don’t know if a team like the Pelicans would be willing to trade all the way back to 14 i don’t think I would be that happy to trade back seven spots for a couple of second round picks but nonetheless if he falls or if the Spurs can make a trade like that happen I would be very excited i don’t think he is a Miles Turner like they say here but more advanced Rudy Goar I think that could be a possibility so it really just depends if the Spurs can make it happen i would be all for it the Spurs drafting Malaw with the 14th pick or whatever they trade up to or if they could trade back but I think it would have to be a team that has two lottery picks like the Spurs what other team has two lottery picks okay there’s no other team that has two lottery picks the closest thing to that is the Wizards at six and they also have 18 but at that point you might as well just stay with your two picks because they’re both better so I don’t know maybe Bran Wright could work some magic but let’s talk a little bit more about Malawak and his game so looking at his stats he is averaging 8.6 points i don’t know if my head is in the way 6.6 rebounds and half an assist shooting 71% from the field he only got 21 minutes a game but I think he showed some pretty good stuff averaging 1.3 blocks and I think coming in as a rookie the defensive end will be his bread and butter like many people have said his offensive game is really raw he’s he’s really a raw talent himself he’s only 18 years old but I think he does have a lot of room for growth and a lot of potential just being 72 and he has some mobility at that size so talking a little bit about his strengths and weaknesses I will say after watching some film on him I think he is the embodiment of the new age traditional big man if that makes sense like as you can see they have Rudy Gobear right here or a DeAndre Jordan maybe even like a Yaka Purle i think he is the newer version of that because he can switch at times like I said the mobility is one of the things that makes him special especially being 72 he’s a disruptive force and a shot blocker and rebounder and so he can really do the dirty work and that’s one of the things I liked about Yaka Purle he wasn’t flashy he didn’t even have much of a offensive game besides the little popa shot and he had some nice touch he also had some solid passing and I think that Malua can possibly develop into something like that but he does have more potential just because of his frame and mobility we know Yakob isn’t the most athletic but he is a really good center and teams would love to have a player like that on their team you’re also seeing big man like Zack Edy Derek Lively players like that those are the new age traditional centers if if I’m making sense if y’all understand what I’m saying by new age traditional big man he is a efficient interior scorer that’s one of the things I noticed he has some pretty good touch that’s one of the things I loved about Yakob whenever he got that papa shot it was almost automatic and being 7’2 it takes real skill to have touch around the rim so I think he has potential to develop into something more on the offensive end not saying he’s going to be WMBBY but I think in the end he will have a solid offensive game for his role he probably won’t be a throw it into the post type of player but he can play above the rim and occasionally do a little pop a shot terrific in the pick and roll as a finisher imagine a Wii and Malawak pick and roll now I don’t think you start both of them off the rip i don’t think you have that be the main lineup i think Malawak would be more of a backup center for now you probably could start them for matchup purposes but right off the rip he should definitely be our backup big man of the future finishes everything around the rim that’s where we talk about that touch 1.5 points per possession on all attempts at the rim dominates second chance opportunities and that’s where his 2.8 offensive rebounds per game could really help the Spurs the Spurs are not a good rebounding team i don’t even think Wambi is a great rebounder for his size not saying he can’t rebound cuz he can drop a 4020 game like we saw against the New York Knicks but you don’t go to Wimby just to be a rebounder like he does so many things and so getting Malawak to run with WBY occasionally I think that would take a load off of Victor Wimbeyama and he’s also an international guy you know the Spurs love their international hoopers soft touch that’s one thing we just talked about flashes of a face up game and excellent hands on lobs so I said that I don’t think he would be throw it into the post but if he’s showing flashes of a face up game like I said who knows he’s only 18 years old so the sky’s is the limit but that’s why I would like this pick he has a very high floor but he also has a high ceiling so there’s really no going wrong with this pick unless injuries do play a factor i think he’s going to be a really good prospect no matter where he goes defensive instincts are strong and that’s another thing that we can use in our backup center who does the dirty work plays defense we haven’t had a big man like that in so long probably since Yakob high motor on both ends of the floor good floor runner in transition like you said he has good mobility still learning offensive positioning commits turnovers there’s some young player mistakes limited feel for defensive rotations at times that also goes to him being young and maybe some IQ things but this is nothing that worries me about him as a overall prospect has yet to show consistent shooting range just 25% from three 16 attempts I believe but if you’re drafting Malawak you’re not looking for him to be a stretch big i think the Spurs will be drafting him to enhance everything he does good and kind of build on his offensive game a little bit not counting for three-point shots i’m looking for more touch around the paint and maybe a face up game struggles to defend without fouling foulprone against quicker bigs or when caught out of position that is a IQ type of thing but I think he will get better at that and that also ties in with raw decision maker minimal playmaking responsibilities the Spurs like big men who can pass and I think that’s going to be an area where he’s going to have to grow but again I’ve said he’s only 18 years old so that leaves a lot of room for growth and I think uh strength will continue to grow with his age so overall I think he is a great prospect if the Spurs could trade up I would be very happy and that would solve the backup big man problem and I think they could make it happen because the big man market isn’t that deep there’s only a few selections out there and so if he could draft a big man who can grow with the core I think that would be very beneficial for the team and I think him playing with WBY WBY could really bring the best out of him and you’re going to see a lot of de development him going to practice every day with a big man like Webby you know they’re going to be working together so that offensive side I think he will gain a little bit more help being in San Antonio but let me know what y’all guys think i’m all for it but leave y’all’s comments down below as always be sure to leave a like and subscribe to Spur Spotlight until next time it has been 1. Yeah y’all gon stop coming in my live talking bout this Victor dude, bro, we hoopin this year. Y’all gonna see.

  2. That “new age traditional center” is now based off the fact that Heliocentric basketball is more prevalent nowadays with the advancement of the perimeter players, so having a big man that can catch lobs, rebound, and play defense is critical because they have to be effective without the ball🫡

  3. Wemby averaged 11 rebounds this season. We might need help rebounding as a team, but Wemby is a great rebounder.

  4. Wemby is the tallest, but he is not a center, he is a stretch 4, he hangs around the perimeter, we need a big that camps in the paint and sets screens inside, #14 needs to be a big

  5. This is FAKE NEWS. Multiple NBA franchises have a vested interest in the Spurs potentially trading down in the draft, so they're getting their acolytes in the media to shill the idea of multiple trades for that 2nd pick.

  6. Hey Chris….
Thanks for the video and information on NBA Center Prospect Khaman Maluach. Yeah I agree about GM Brian Wright drafting Maluach #14 but, probably will be gone way before the Spurs pick at #14. GSG!

  7. Think if they wanted to go and get Queen or the Duke center? Why not package a deal with Atlanta. The Hawks get their swap back with the Spurs in 2026 and one of the many 2026 second round picks the Spurs have. Then the Spurs get the Hawks 13th pick. The Spurs then look to trade the 13th, 14th, and another 2026 second round pick to a team in the 7 to 10 range for that center. Also, seen reports where the Georgetown center Sorber could be around the 14th pick.
